What is The Vivaling English Podcast?

This podcast is designed to give English students extra practice by discussing events, history, culture and language.

Coach Kari: Everybody likes to eat in a restaurant. There are many kinds of restaurants: pizza, burger, pasta and more. Some restaurants are really big, and some are really small. Sometimes families can sit outside and eat, and sometimes families can listen to music. In some restaurants, you order from a menu, and in other restaurants you can eat all the food you want for one price - Yay!

There are many interesting restaurants around the world, but my favorite restaurant is “The Rainforest Café.” There are many Rainforest Café restaurants around the word: in the USA, in Japan, even in Disney World!

You will eat inside a tropical rainforest. (sound of a rainforest) You can see many rainforest animals like monkeys in the trees, elephants, leopards, orangutans, snakes, crocodiles and tigers – and many of them move! If you look up, you can see a starry night. You can often see a waterfall and mushrooms. There are many aquariums with tropical fish. AND … every few minutes there is thunderstorm.

You can eat many kinds of food, such as burgers, chicken, pasta, and seafood. The restaurant has a special dessert called a volcano. It is a brownie and ice cream. They light a sparkler and put it on top.

The Rainforest Café also has 8 mascots. 3 of the mascots are: Maya, the jaguar; Iggy, the iguana; and Nile, the crocodile.

Now, what do you remember? Answer true or false to my questions.

You can see an aquarium with fish. TRUE

There is a thunderstorm every few hours. FALSE- every few minutes

You can eat cereal in the restaurant. FALSE- cereal is for breakfast

Iggy is one mascot. It’s an iguana. TRUE

If you got 3 or more correct, well done. If you didn’t, listen again! Draw a picture of your favorite mascot eating your favorite food in the Rainforest Café and show it to your coach in your next English lesson.
