Good morning and

welcome to Morning Serial.

Okay, good morning and

welcome to another Friday.

You made it.

Yet again, I knew you could do it.

And today is World Population Day.

It's the perfect reason to remember your

one in eight billion.

Well, it's actually 8.2

billion now, which is crazy.

So if my math is right, that's way better

than one in a million.

And you know who else

is one in a million?

My wife.

And a special happy

birthday to you, Love.

All right, well, speaking of Love and

someone who knows a bit

about Love, Bob Eubanks.

He's the legendary game

show host of the newlywed game.

Remember that?

Well, Bob Eubanks said, "True Love isn't

about finding someone perfect.

It's about finding someone who makes you

laugh through life's imperfections."

Well, life isn't always

what we plan it to be, right?

So just make sure you pick

your ride or die very wisely.

All right, well, today's news facts and

birthdays are for 7-11, July 11.

And we're going to start back in 1966,

the TV quiz show, the

newlywed game, hosted by

Bob Eubanks.

Well, it premiered on ABC.

And if you ever catch any of those old

reruns, they are so funny.

Man, those people, they kill me.

Well, in 2013, Orange is the New Black.

It premiered on Netflix

starring Taylor Schilling.

And it was the first series to be

nominated for both

comedy and drama Emmy Awards.

And in 2015 on this date, Mexican drug

lord El Chapo, he

escaped from a maximum security

prison west of Mexico City via a

specially constructed one

mile long tunnel from his

cell to a nearby house.

I think you remember

watching some of the shows on that.

Then lastly, in 2014, not today, but over

the weekend on the

13th, the FIFA World Cup

final, well, Brazil beat Germany,

stunning the world one

to zero in extra time.

Well, happy birthday to you.

Today is your birthday.

You share a birthday

with also singer Alesa Carr.

She's 29 today.

Lead guitarist Rabon Jovi, Richie Sambor.

He's 66.

And Giorgio Armani.

He's still going strong at 91.

And lastly, of course, my beautiful wife.

Well, the number one song on this date in

2001 was Butterfly from Crazy Town.

Now, this was a nice little rock slash

rap song in the early 2000s.

But can you name

another song by Crazy Town?

Probably not.

The band is often featured on the best

one hit wonders list for the 2000s.

Well, the book review suggestion for

today is Try Grit by Angela Duckworth.

And it uncovers how passion and

perseverance shape success.

So it's perfect for powering through

almost anything, even

sock folding, if that's your

thing.

Well, thanks for spending your Friday

with Morning Serial.

And remember, that journey of a thousand

miles, it starts with that single step.

All right.

Well, join us next week for more

curiosity, jokes and

everything in between.

And we'll actually be back in the studio

by midweek next week.

So enjoy the weekend

and have a fantastic day.
