The Good Wife S4E5

[00:00:00]

[00:00:05] welcome to the Good Pod, where today we're talking The Good Wife, season four, episode five. Waiting for the Knock. I'm one your host Jason Reed. And I like Lemond Bishop and surrounded by women. And one of those women is Marissa Garza. Marissa, you good? I'm good, Jason. You good? I'm good.

[00:00:22] I'm good. Um, that's because you're surrounded by women surround Yes. Surrounded by smart, uh, funny, fun women in my life, in my everyday home life, in my podcast life, just surrounded by you ladies. Uh, but I couldn't be in a better spot. Um, I, we were here, uh, ca we're in Caesar four, a very like, uh, interesting episode because it seemingly, I didn't think, uh, when last ended, we were gonna continue right after the, uh, roach and the wine that Jackie was drinking.

[00:00:53] Yeah. Right after that. I didn't realize that. And then this whole episode's kind of like one of those, uh, clicking talk, [00:01:00] clicking talk. Clicking ticking clock episodes, like I got it eventually cl that we, it was kind of like almost a 24 style. Like we're always running, we got stuff to do, we gotta have a limited amount of time to do it.

[00:01:11] That, and every once in a while we get one of these, at least I think it's starting, starting to pick up in this part of the series, but we will get like a lamond. Episode where we're learning about the ins and outs of his. It's not, we're not in court, we're, we're running around learning about his businesses, learning about how things work, and having to like, have a weekend team in, you know, it's like one of those weekend e episodes and not necessarily a, a run of the mill episode.

[00:01:42] We still have a case of the week. We still have some stuff going on with the campaign, but it was just a, it was just different enough that it was, I mean, I enjoyed this episode. It's fun because we get to see some of our people in casual wear, you know? Yeah. Always. Its always unarm, right? Like, you're like, oh, whatcha, whatcha are doing?

[00:01:59] Will's [00:02:00] in a, like, flannel plaid shirt. What is this all about? Carrie's in like a, like a form hugging, uh, sweater. Sweater. What? This, oh. Uh, I am a, I'm a heterosexual male. When I saw Carrie and then I was like, oh, like look at you care showing off the, showing off the guns. I I like that. It's fun. Um, but yes, uh, a Laman Bishop episode is, uh, is seemingly our annual tradition to having Laman.

[00:02:27] Bishop episode is one of those where carrying characters get at least once a year. Uh, so he's, he's pretty early in the season four run. Uh, before we dive too deep into the episode, we want to remind you of some free and easy ways you can support this podcast. You can do that by reviewing, rating and subscribing wherever it is you are watching and or listening.

[00:02:47] Uh, it's been a minute since has gotten a good Apple Podcast review. Uh, so we were like, let's make that a goal by next podcast. Let's get an Apple review in, guys. Come on. It's Apple season. You know, it's Apple season, it's, yeah. Let [00:03:00] go to the Art, the Orchard of podcast reviews. Yes. If you have yet to leave a five star podcast review, we, we really, uh, encourage you to do that this week.

[00:03:10] Make that one of you What? Make that why right now as you're listening, do it right now. If you're not busy, uh, if you are busy, we understand and we don't wanna pressure you. Um, you can also write to us at the Good Pod feedback@gmail.com. If you have anything you wanna say to us, anything you wanna ask about, we are there for you to answer any of your questions that you may have.

[00:03:27] Uh, if you choose to support this show, uh, monetarily, you are free to do that. We greatly appreciate it. And, uh, we use the funds there to help cover our costs so that we can keep providing this, uh, podcast to you and the quality.

[00:03:50] I mean, say what you will about the quality, but using the high quality tools Yes. Um, to be able to deliver this to you in the, in the quality that we can. So we [00:04:00] really appreciate it, for sure. Uh, yeah. So with that all being said, Marissa, let's, uh, let's jump into the episode. All right. Well, before we jump into the episode we had a previously on Yeah, very true.

[00:04:13] Very true. We had to, I mean, because this story, this, this episode, uh, deals with a lot of storylines, so I think they really wanted to like, get us a refresher of where we're at. Yeah. It has been in CC Lemond Bishop. So they wanna be like, all right, like, make sure you guys are caught up on Lamond and all his going on goings on.

[00:04:30] 'cause he's, he's here. And, uh, while we're on the subject of Lemond Bishop, congratulations to Yes. Mike Coulter. Yes. Who, uh, plays Lemond Bishop, who, uh, has been in the King's universe for a minute now, and he's coming back to the King's universe because he's going to be the star of a new legal drama. From the Kings.

[00:04:49] This is not, as far as we know, this is not a good wife spinoff. It's not in the same universe. It would be kind of interesting if Lemond Bishop turned into a lawyer in this universe and [00:05:00] that was about that. But I don't think it's gonna be, it's a separate legal, uh, drama that's going to be starring my culture.

[00:05:06] So Congrat to him. Yeah. I'm so looking forward to it because it's set in Cupertino, which if you are like an Apple person, a tech person, you know, is like, that's where the tech people live. And there's a lot going on in the US right now about how much tech people are involved in the government, how much they're like really controlling the lives of people.

[00:05:24] So I think the Kings are, again, setting their eyes on starting a conversation, explaining things to people in a way that we don't necessarily see on mainstream media and. Um, I'm excited if you can't tell. I am a nerd and I love it. Um, so congratulations, my culture on that for sure. Uh, in this previously on we do get like reoriented to Lamond, we are reminded that, um, Lockhart Gardner represents the legit businesses, not the drug, um, businesses.

[00:05:54] We also are reminded that Maddie, AKA more Tierney, AKA Abby on [00:06:00] er is contributing to Peter's campaign. And then of Nick is there. Tow truck man is still around. Yeah, so it very clearly sets up what we're gonna see in this episode. So let's talk about what's going on with Lemond. We see Lemond who's making lunch for his son, his karate loving son, his son who's in like 800 different activities, of course, from what we could tell.

[00:06:23] You know, it's interesting to see the dotting father, Lemond Bishop, uh, making lunch for his son. I think if you see this, it's easy to forget that Lemond Bishop had his son's mother murdered Uhhuh. Um, a hundred percent yes. Via drug, via drug overdose. Last time we saw Lemond, or was it last time? It may have been the time before last.

[00:06:43] It was like a question. It was like, yeah, it was like alluded to, but Yeah. Yeah, because I mean, LA when we the, I mean the last time we saw Lemond, we heard that the FBI was sniffing around him because of Kalinda, and he came in to give a little light threat to Kalinda and Alicia. Uh, but the time [00:07:00] before that, when we had, the last time we had a big case for him, he and his wife were getting divorced, right.

[00:07:04] And it wasn't going well for Theon. So he decided, um, to, this is not confirmed. To eliminate the threat. Yeah. This is not confirmed, but uh. His baby mama mysteriously died of a drug overdose, um, you know, right before the divorce Mercedes were to happen. So it's like that, you know, conveniently gives him full custody of the kid.

[00:07:28] Right. So, yeah, no, it's easy to forget that if, when you see Lemond in this episode being the doting father, uh, the 'cause, I mean, this, this episode really kind of shied away from the, the worser tendencies of Lamond because we've seen lamond give threats. We've seen him like. Very steely, very like hard edge.

[00:07:49] This one, he was a lot softer, but it's like, if you know your Lemond Bishop history, you know, Lemond's not one who you mess with. So don't, don't let the, don't let the daddy dearest, uh, act fool you. Yeah, yeah, [00:08:00] yeah, yeah, for sure. Well, I will, I was also gonna say like he makes lunch for his kid, but it doesn't take his kids to karate.

[00:08:06] Like he's, oh, he's got drivers for that. You got drivers for that, involved in, you know, the partial parts. Um, so yes, he is doing his dad duties and then, um, all of his phones start ringing and it's like, what, what's going on? Uh, it's so much so that like, this is so much of an issue that Alicia gets pulled away from the straw bowl to join.

[00:08:26] And this is where we learn that one, we find the other law firm for that represents Lemond on the drug side of his businesses. They introduce themselves as the primary firm. Yes. Uh, so there's gonna be some competition here, but we learn that Lemond's account accountant had been arrested. And Lemond doesn't know why.

[00:08:47] Apparently to him there was like no search warrant. We have no idea what's going on. This is where he says he's surrounded by women. 'cause we've got three women lawyers, Diane, Alicia and Leslie. Leslie from [00:09:00] the other, uh, law firm in front of him. It's like, look, I don't need you guys to fight. I want you both to find out why the accountant was arrested, and more importantly, find out whether I will be arrested.

[00:09:10] Yeah. Because, you know, Diane's like, oh, Leslie, this is probably an issue on your, your bad guy's side. Do you want us to like, look into all the stuff you've been doing and see if we could catch any errors you made? Maybe. And it's like, okay, ladies, ladies, ladies, let's, let's calm down. I, I don't need you guys to be fighting.

[00:09:27] Okay. That's, well, and then like after Lemond leaves, Leslie's like, how's bankruptcy? Diane And Diane's like, I hear you have Rico charges Leslie.

[00:09:39] Yeah. It's like, okay, okay. Uh, Diane ends up calling Will, uh, uh, to let him know like, what's going on. Will's already in the office, so obviously the call has, the alert has gone out to bring people in to, to handle this situation. Um, and Will's like, yeah, okay, like, we're gonna do this, but also there's an opportunity because [00:10:00] the widget side only brings in $5 million, but the drug side would bring in like $20 million.

[00:10:06] And Diane's like, yeah, I'm on it. I got it. Well, like, we don't need, like, it's okay. I've already figured this out. We gotta get kalinda on it. I think I tricked myself into believing that Will and Diane didn't want Lemond's drug business businesses because, you know, it's icky. It's like, drugs are bad. But then I was just like, no, they're more just, it's not really a moral problem.

[00:10:29] It was more of a like, uh. Legal problem. We were talking about this a little bit pre pod, but it's like, this is capitalism, right? Mm-hmm. There's no ethical consumption under capitalism. Like they're at a point where they need money, they're not go, they're, it's like ethics and morals kind of go to the wayside in this, in this instance because of that.

[00:10:49] And I don't, I think at the beginning it was a little bit dangerous to take him on as a, take his drug businesses on because of the Alicia and Peter of it all. Like there was a [00:11:00] spotlight on them. And right now, right now in this one little episode, um, things on the Peter side are okay. Right now in this moment in time.

[00:11:11] So they might feel confident in being able to, to win this business, but when, like when Diane's talking to Will and, and she's like, yeah, I know I'm gonna try to get the drug businesses, Alicia does give a pause of like, wait, I thought we were against drugs. Yeah. I thought like drugs weren't cool. Like, okay, drugs are bad.

[00:11:27] Okay. And like, you know, and they don't say, this was like, Alicia, grow up, we need money. Yeah. Kind of. Yeah. Yeah. And even like, I was surprised because the conversation, like while Will's on this phone call, Clark is in front of Will and he's Clark's all like new client and Will's like Yeah. Uh, drug dealer that we kind of didn't wanna have a business at the beginning, but we might.

[00:11:49] And like Clark again, acting as the trustee for the court and the firm in the situation's like, great, bring it on. Love it. I, I thought Clark would be like a square [00:12:00] and be like, oh no, we can't. We can't take on the risk and liability of a drug, of a drug. Overlord, drug Inc. And he's like, no, go for it. Like, we need that money, baby.

[00:12:07] Bring it all in. I was like, okay. Clark's on board. Interesting. Yeah, he says, money respects money. And truer words have never been spoken for sure. Kalinda ISS in the office and she does find out that there was a search warrant because she calls his, the wife of the accountant found that there was a search warrant.

[00:12:25] They took all the files. This is about the legit businesses, not the drug side. And Lama knows that optics are everything. So while she sends everyone else out to like figure out what's going on with the accountant, he requests that Alicia stay with him in case the cops come to pick him up because she's Alicia.

[00:12:44] Alicia Florick, and you know. Peter Flu's still the state's attorney. So there might be some, some sway there. Like I, if I was Alicia, I'd be like, I don't know if it would look great for Peter. [00:13:00] I know it would look great for you Lemond to have me here, but I don't think it would look great for Peter if I'm in a drug King Pen's house when he gets arrested.

[00:13:06] She gave no thought to that. No. Which was, which was interesting. I was like, which is great. Yeah. I felt, yeah, I know you, I know, you know, you love anything that, that, uh, hampers Peter, but it was just like, Alicia, did you think of like what the ramification would be for Peter and it was like, oh, the, uh, the wife was, sex attorney was in the house when a drug, when Lemond Bishop drug kingpin is, was arrested.

[00:13:27] Well, I would take that just even like one more cir one circle deeper. It's like, what would this do for the kids? Because not only would it be like Alicia, the wife of the state's attorney, but also like. Alicia's with drug dealers. Like, you know, Hey kids, Hey kids, drugs are bad. Okay, but it's not bad to work for drug dealers.

[00:13:49] Right. But not in the way that mommy is involved with them. You know? Like, don't drugs separate. Yeah, that's separate. And no, I will not get you any drugs. You know what I mean? How could she say that to her [00:14:00] kids? I feel like Grace and Zach would be like, would be those kids to be like, mom, but you work for a drug dealer.

[00:14:06] Oh yeah. Why is it, why is it okay that we, we can't take drugs? Like, 'cause I said so would be like Alicia's thing, like it's okay for me 'cause I'm an adult. You are children. Yeah. And you know that won't fly because Zach will do some sort of weird investigation thing and Grace will like go to church and get people mad at church and then.

[00:14:25] You know, all but mayhem. More break looses. I know we don't like the Fluor children. I know that usually when they're store last couple we're like, Ugh. But I, I'm kind of in Is, is Grace still a bible freak? Like what, what, like, I, I don't think we've heard anything about Grace and her, uh, religion, uh, any, anytime.

[00:14:42] So I think we are, I think we're probably due for a child focus. We probably are. Yeah. Good wife pretty soon. So let's be on a lookout for that. I am a little curious, but I don't want it to take up a whole episode. Maybe just a passing, uh, mention would be fine. Or if we get a whole episode that's the only episode and then we like for a while.

[00:14:59] You know what I mean? Yeah. Like, [00:15:00] I am curious, like, but I don't need it to be every episode where something like you, do you mind my medicine? But I'll take it all in one gulp. Like I don't Yeah, exactly. Much of little medicines. Yeah. I gotcha. Like, today's the day. Mm-hmm. We're just gonna, we're just gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna like, you know, gr our teeth and get through it.

[00:15:16] Um, but yeah, I am, I am semi curious about what's going on. Like, is, is Becca still around in Zach's life? Like what's, who knows where is that, where's the other girl? Um, what's her name? The Man n Nika. Nisa. Nisa nea. Yeah. Yeah. Where, where are we at with that? I am semi curious, not curious enough to like, wish for an episode, but I just kind of wanna know, gimme some background info next week.

[00:15:41] Yeah. I'm the good wife. Yeah. Careful. What I wish for. Well, uh, basically babysitting Lemond. Alicia decides to go through all the businesses to kind of find out like what the lay of the land is. And in doing so, she learns that like Dylan. Lemond's son has no friends really, because everyone's [00:16:00] parents kind of know who Lemond is.

[00:16:01] And I was like, no, don't send my kids around there. And he's trying to send like, celebrate this kid's eighth, eighth birthday, and no one's showing up for it. So that's kind of the state of the bishop household at the moment. Uh, but what comes out of the business conversation is. Lemond says, check Dex Roja.

[00:16:18] He was over like six different businesses. So cut to the law firm where we've got will Diane, Carrie and Clark all in the same room? Clark is like there, you know, in his trustee capacity and he says, you know, like if you're looking at the accountant's records, you know, check the footnotes. 'cause where do accountants.

[00:16:37] Where do it come? Like keep all their secrets and DA's like where he is, like, footnotes, TE's. Like, I thought it was a joke. He is like, no, that's like legit. I just told you the footnotes. And she's like, oh. I was like expecting a set up for like, so it's like Clark, Clark doesn't joke. Like Clark doesn't, Clark's not a joker.

[00:16:58] He is like, he is very matter of fact at all [00:17:00] times. I mean, he, we also learned by no surprise that this man was a CPA for 22 years. Like he is someone who's going, who loves a spreadsheet, who's going to pay attention to the ins and outs of things. Um, and in this, Carrie sees like a potential resource and is like, I, you know, like, Hey Clark, here's a file.

[00:17:18] Take a look at it. Let me know what you think. Carrie, Kerry sees us, has the opportunity to, is like, let me let pull in Clark even closer, because I mean, we've already seen kind of Clark and Carrie get along, so Carrie's like, oh, this guy, he wants to help. I know he does. Here, here you go, Clark. Lemme throw you up bone.

[00:17:33] Come on. Come on. Yeah. Digging one. The Clark, be one of the, be one of the guys, be one of the friends. Come on, come on. It's like, it's like inviting the, the nerd over to the popular kids table. It's like, come on. Yes. Very much so. Like, even though Carrie, you're being inducted is also a nerd, because like Carrie carrie's like the, Carrie's like the football player that is also in band, you know, like, like, because he's like the Peace Corps, [00:18:00] like nerd out about the government, nerd out about the law.

[00:18:02] They're all nerds really at that table about the law. For sure. Carrie is that kid in the popular circle that refuses to do like the bad stuff. Like, like, we're gonna go knock over some mailboxes and carrie's like, oh guys, I'm out. No way, man. I can't. Yeah. Have a great night. Bye. He, he is a square of the popular kids, but he's so, he's so cool that even though he is a square, he's included in the popular kids' table.

[00:18:24] Okay. You can tell that either Marissa or I were in the popular kids' table and we're a little envious. Okay. I was, uh, definitely hiding in the band room, like pretty much all the time. For sure. For sure. Uh, so yeah, it was, it was kind of like that. Yes. Yes. Karen and Clark do go visit. Um. Visit one of the businesses, which is the bakery, and accuse the business owner of basically some nefarious count accounting, because very astutely Clark notices that there's a 12% bump in sales.

[00:18:56] And this is a bakery, so it's a very simple business. If you're going to sell [00:19:00] more bread, you're going to need more supplies to make the more bread correct. And these, uh, equations and the like, the rise or fall of these did not make any sense. And so they're like, Hey, what's, what? The 12%, where did this 12% go?

[00:19:17] And at first, the guy, the guy's very defensive, obviously, 'cause who wouldn't be. But then he, he fesses up and says, uh, employee benefits. We gave everyone a gym membership. Which was still very suspicious. I was like, yeah. It seemed like he was trying to pass the buck onto the health clubs. 'cause he didn't want them to dive any deeper into what he was doing.

[00:19:35] 'cause he did seem very suspicious. He's like, he is like, what do, uh, yeah. I, I don't know. We, uh, we used all the extra money and bought them health benefits over at the other, uh, legit business that LA owns. Why don't you go check them out and stop bothering me? Yeah. And so Clark and Carrie go over there and while they're there, like we learn that there were like an influx of new memberships and about 30 people have not actually used their [00:20:00] membership even once.

[00:20:00] And at the same time, Clark is looking at this juice bar that's closed up and he puts two and two together. Mm-hmm. That there must be some money laundering going on. And, um, the, so then Diane. Basically confronts Leslie and is like, you are laundering money over our legit businesses. And she's like, your businesses wouldn't be anything without the drugs, basically back and forth.

[00:20:24] And so this is where we find out that the juice bar is still making money even though it's closed. And Well, but, and Leslie, and Leslie tells, um, Diane like, Hey, like, yeah, you might think that, but we're, we're not doing anything with the, with the Elk clubs. We are. Right. We are hands off on those, so Right.

[00:20:40] What whatever it is going on over there is not dealing with the drug side. And so because of that, Lemond has no idea what's going on over there. Right? Right. And so Alicia and Lemond have this conversation with, they bring in Dex and say, Hey, like, what the heck's going on? Like, how could we still be making money when it's closed?[00:21:00]

[00:21:00] And we met, we've met Dex before. Dex was a big part of the, uh, like divorce thing, divorce proceeding thing, um, a while ago. So that, that's he, he's brought back and he's still be like, he was a, he was a. Like not cool guy before. He is even more not cool now. Yeah. Yeah. And he basically says, oh yeah, so we were gonna put HG, H in some of the stuff emblematic, like I told you.

[00:21:26] No drugs, no drugs at this side. Well, I think he's literally just like selling steroids out of the juice bar. Yes. Like he's not putting it in anything. He's just like, because, because Clark and Carrie are at the, at the health club, and they're like, huh, it's kind of weird that the juice bar is all shuttered closed up because that juice bar is making a lot of money.

[00:21:46] So how is the juice bar making money if juice bar is closed? And so there's, and so d uh, Dex is like, well, I mean, you know, we were like, maybe, well, like, it's like, it's like the same results. Like you, [00:22:00] it's connected, it's wellness, it's like a free workout, a performance enhancer, a something or other. Yeah.

[00:22:09] And this is where, this is where you gotta gotta coach up your, your young, uh, drug dealers in training, right? This is where Lemond should be like, listen, Dex, if you're gonna, if you're gonna do this, you gotta keep the juice bar open. You gotta make, you gotta make it look like Yes. You know, you're just selling a bunch of protein bars.

[00:22:25] And that's why products are so high. Like, come on, dummy. Like what are you doing? You can't just close a juice bar. But he was so busy being a good dad. He was so busy. No, this is Dex fault. No, I know, but like, no, but like Lemond couldn't do that. Lemond couldn't have that conversation with Dex because Lemond was being a dad.

[00:22:40] Nah, he's being a donning father. That's right. He's gotta lie off the ball. He's got his lie off the prize. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, Kalinda just happens to be going down the street and sees that there's this van disguised as a cable company. Um, but it's really like the FBI doing some, um, reconnaissance [00:23:00] work. And basically Lana comes out of this thing.

[00:23:02] We learn, there's a, a search warrant, Kalinda calls and says, Hey, they're seconds away. Alicia tells Lemond they're coming right now. Lemond's like, Hey, Dex, remember the game box? It's in Dylan's room. This is how you know the good wife is written by older folks. Okay? They're like the game box. Like no one calls it the game box.

[00:23:24] No one that actually uses game boxes. Call it a game box except for your grandparents. I bought you this game box that you wanted at the store. It's not a game box. If you're gonna call it something, call it a video game console. Call it a, they should have just made up a, a different like stupid name, like of a, a play box or a, a, a ex gamer or something like that.

[00:23:44] Or, yeah, like a ga. A cube of games. You're about to say Game Cube. And I was, remember that It was actually a thing. Yes. Um, instead of saying the game box. Okay. Which apparently has like stuff [00:24:00] on it, like communicate, they're using it as communication for the drug dealers. Yes. Uh, so it's like silver go click the game box.

[00:24:08] It's like, okay, tell me, this was written by 50 year olds when without telling me it was written by 50 year olds. Is that your Bill Cosby? Go get the game box. Go, go get the game box. The, sorry. Do not wanna, do you wanna Yeah, no, I know, but it just, I mean, I, I do not, not a fan of Bill Cosby proper himself, but I would hope not.

[00:24:30] Theo, forever. Theo, welcome to More Warner. Rest in peace. How dare you take Malcolm Jamal warn away from us and leave that other guy. I know, I know. It's, it's a crime on many injustice. Many, many accounts injustice. So with all this going on, Alicia takes Dylan to go talk out on the swings and she's like, Hey, your dad says he didn't do it.

[00:24:54] Everything's gonna be okay. You go to camp, what kind of camp do you go to? And we learned that [00:25:00] Alicia's first date was to these, to the Second Bulls championship final game. And she didn't know what basketball was. Ha ha ha, ha ha. I was like, okay, whatever. By the time the feathers get there, the game box is gone and we learned that the search warrant is sealed.

[00:25:18] So Kalinda has done a headcount of everyone in the, in the house, and there are no DEA agents, so no drug enforcement agents in the house. So this can't be about the HGH, the human growth hormone. So to get the, the warrant unsealed so we could find out what the heck is going here. They know that anyone, well, Carrie brings up, basically, if anyone is arrested in accordance with this, like at the time of the search warrant, they would, it would have to unseal the thing.

[00:25:49] Mm-hmm. And Leslie is like, well. I have, uh, my ballet class tonight, and Kalinda and Diane don't even say anything. They just start [00:26:00] looking at Carrie, like, you're the one, you're the one who's going to have to obstruct justice to get arrested for this. They legit take a step back and fold their arms and look at Carrie like, well, it's gonna have to be you my boy.

[00:26:12] You know, we, we can't let the frail older lady or the minority take the fall for this. Uh, it's gonna have to be the cute white boy. Sometimes The white men, you know, they gotta stand up. They gotta, you know, protect the peeps. Carrie, it's your own fault from bringing it up. You're the one that brought, that brought this whole thing to light, so you're gonna have to take the fall.

[00:26:31] Interesting that we don't see the arrest happen, or we don't see what he did to get arrested. I think that would've been a fun, uh, a really fun moment to see like what he did to get arrested. Yeah. Yeah. So Lana and Kalinda meet up in the hallway of the court. Uh, even though courts, they're not going to court, they're always at the court office.

[00:26:50] Mm-hmm. Um, and. Anna tells Kalinda like, Hey, my apartment was tossed, and I think it was Lemond Bishop who did it, and we'll talk [00:27:00] about Belinda's story at the end because that's where we put Belinda's story in this timeframe. But, um, Kalinda knows it wasn't Lemond's people. Yeah. Who did this. She knows she got.

[00:27:10] Then we finally get in front of a judge and I recognize this guy, Jason. I think you recognize this guy. It's Miles from Murphy Brown. Yeah. And you, you, uh, you corrected me, uh, in the, in the pre-show and like, Hey, you didn't get this guy in your research. And honestly, when I saw the guy, I was like, he looks familiar, but he was in such like a little part of the episode that I just totally forgot to look him up.

[00:27:33] But yes, this is miles from Murphy Brown who. I, I don't know how like they, they fell on this guy to, to come and be this small bid part. But he, he was great at what he was doing because this guy was like not paying attention. He, well, seemingly not paying attention. Uh, he was making trades. He was getting his trades ready for the next day.

[00:27:49] He's, he's got a side hustle on the stock market. So he is like, he's like checking the stocks and we, we think he's not listening, but he is listening because he is like, oh yeah, I heard you, you want, you want the warrant unsealed [00:28:00] and you don't want her to have it unsealed. It's kind of a tie. He goes, says tie goes to the runner.

[00:28:04] So basically the person that starred this whole mess, uh, so you gotta unseal the warrant, let him know what the, what you're looking for. Uh, so yeah, like very short, very small role. Yes. But it was, it was a antegrade effect. Yes. I was like, miles, uh, yeah. And when the warrant is unsealed, we learn it was basically about a informant ci.

[00:28:25] 6, 9 1, and she's been missing for 72 hours. There's not enough right now to charge Lamond, but Lamond is like, uh, we gotta call. We gotta call Dex something. Something's not right here. So Dex comes to the house and he's like, yeah. So there's this girl, Christina Diaz, who I've been talking to about the HGH and also maybe sleeping with, and also like all of this stuff.

[00:28:53] I know where she lives and I know she has a boyfriend and the boyfriend rides a motorcycle and. It's like, so you're doing break all of this [00:29:00] stuff. You're, you're breaking all the rules of an amateur like drug dealer. Like, you, you, you're terrible at this Dex. Like, what are you doing, bro? Well, I have a feeling Dex is walking around thinking he is Lemond.

[00:29:11] You know what I mean? Yes. Like thinking for sure, for sure. The big king here. And I can only imagine what Dex is gonna be doing by the end of this episode after what happens at the end and how he's gonna be feeling about himself. Um, but boy, yeah, he, he is doing all the wrong stuff. You should like shitting where you eat.

[00:29:26] Not a good idea. Uh, you know, just so sloppy. So sloppy, so sloppy. We do see a cute little scene between Clark and Carrie Clark is. Is there anything else you guys need that I could do, that I could help Carrie's? Like, no, I think we got it. But you could go then as clerk's walking out, like kind of like moping along.

[00:29:47] Mm-hmm. Carrie's like, but you were awesome bro. Like you did this so great. He's like, you know, he's like, you know what? You told that guy that, uh, it's, it's in the, for the footnotes. You got the spreadsheets. Oh man, you scared him so bad. It's like, Clark's like, really? [00:30:00] Really? You think so? He's like, yeah man, you did great.

[00:30:02] You were so, so, you was so cute. Like, it was so nice. These two are the little duo that I didn't know that I needed. 'cause they're so cute together. I mean, they all you watch on YouTube. I got backyard on message board. Carrie and Clark sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-J. Um, but yeah, they're so fun together 'cause it's, it's such a un, such a un uh, what am I trying to say?

[00:30:24] Unexpected duo is what I'm trying to say. Yeah. Yeah. And Carrie was like, Hey, you should go talk to family law. 'cause sometimes like they have, they have accounting thing obviously, you know, divorce and stuff like that, and Craig's like. That's not what I'm here for. He was like, yeah, but you'd be helping us get out of debt.

[00:30:41] You're here to help us get out of debt, so why don't you go use your skills to help us get out of debt. And I think that's also Carrie, like kind of redirecting clerks. So it's not so much like in the office structure or like trying to figure out how to rent things out and stuff like that. I think it's a good move.

[00:30:57] Yeah, I guess I was just like, you know, I was surprising like [00:31:00] to grab, grab Clark's hand, like, but you're here to help and you're doing that. Yeah. Good job. You're so great. You're so good. Meanwhile, Kalinda, uh, goes to Christina's house in Logan Square and um, as she finds the lockbox with the key, a motorcycle runs off, she runs and chases it.

[00:31:19] And then this was. This was great by the production team. 'cause they're like, we're not gonna have an actual body in a car. We're just gonna have kalinda smell the trunk and to tell us that there's a dead person in the trunk. They're like, have you seen Archie's face acting? She could, she could pretend that she smells something foul.

[00:31:36] Okay. She's really good at that type of stuff. Why, why pay an extra person to be dead c dead Christina in a trunk? Well, we, we don't have to, we don't have to waste the makeup. We don't have to waste the, you know, the, the talent caused, yeah, exactly. The crap services, the trailer, like all of this stuff with one furrow of her brow, Archie can, can convey that she smells a dead body.

[00:31:59] So let's, [00:32:00] let's do that. I mean, it was a great way to find, I mean, I didn't enjoy finding that out, but the next thing Kalinda says is like, based on the time and this and the temperature, she's probably been decomposing at a faster rate. Who know? Medical, you're medical examiner now, Kalinda, that's also part of your repertoire of things, as well as being like a fantastic investigator slash detective.

[00:32:22] Now you're an me that can, you know, identify, you know, rapid, uh, rate of decay. Yeah. Yeah. She's like a, a c 19 tester, like a carbon dating, everything that she, she finds Nicola, even like Nicola, even over the trunk and take a look, or like, not, not on camera. It's like based on the smell, based on the smell, I can, uh, I can dictate that, that she was dead for 24 hours or something.

[00:32:46] The question now is, do we report this dead body? Because if they do, they're playing by the law, right? They're like saying, Hey, we found this person, and Diane's basically saying, if we don't report it, it could be used against you later that you did not report this. [00:33:00] And Leslie's like, this is not a good idea.

[00:33:02] This is not what's going on. While these two ladies are having this conversation, Lemond like pulls Alicia aside and is like, Hey, drop a guardian agreement to give my sister guardianship over Dylan because we, this is bad. Like there's only one way out of this. I have to turn myself in basically. So call the feds, let them know.

[00:33:24] Drop the agreement. 'cause the suss is on Lemond big time now because big time the CI that was in his organization that was giving information to the feds about his illegal whatever, whatevers is now dead. Now. I guess we are to assume that the boyfriend did it or like what are we. Is it, could there be something else here that I think the CEX cadets have been behind this?

[00:33:49] No. 'cause I, I get that Lemond was actually surprised that she was dead. I get that too. But also the motorcycle boyfriend could have been a [00:34:00] plant by Lemond. Like, he might have known, or like someone smarter than Dex in the organization might have known. I mean, I, it would be a nice, like, added detail to know, like, did motorcycle boyfriend find out that she was cheating on him with Dex and then this decide maybe kill her?

[00:34:19] Or is it, was this whole motorcycle thing, a plo to make it look like the boyfriend? But we don't really, di I, we don't dive into that at all. Right. And I don't think, I don't think we're going to dive into it like in like a, you know, subsequent episode, but, well, I do wonder, let's just like by, by the other of the episode, Lemond gets arrested, so it's like well, yes.

[00:34:41] Are we going to dive into that in a, in, in a, maybe in the court case. Yeah. In another episode. Or is Leslie gonna handle that? So we don't need to look in on it? Like, I'm just curious of how, like, I can't wait to see the next time we see Lemond and what, and where he is and what's gonna be happening with Lemond.

[00:34:59] Yeah. [00:35:00] I don't know. I don't know what's, what's happening. I think hopefully we pick it up. 'cause, you know, because of this, like, Lockhart, Gardner's gonna be representing him in court. We know that because that's how the show works. But, um, we do have a scene where Lana tells Kalinda, Hey, too bad about your boy.

[00:35:19] Belinda's. Like, I don't, no, that's not what it is. She's like, my boy. She, well, I was like, oh, not like that. I'm like, not racial. Not racial. I, my bad. I I didn't mean to, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah. It was not great. Um, but basically we learned that there was an, um, anonymous tip. It was Belinda. Saying, Hey.

[00:35:35] And so now there's a warrant, and we prefer that he turned himself in the FBI shows up. Lemond is saying goodbye to Dylan. Alicia takes Dylan upstairs, and Diane is there When Lemond gets arrested, Alicia's like, come on, Dylan, come show me your toys. No. Show me every toy you own. Show all your toys. I can't wait to see them.

[00:35:56] And meanwhile, Alicia's like, oh God, I'm have to deal with this. I to look, take a look at all this [00:36:00] little kids' toys. I don't wanna do that. I don't care about those little toys. Um, but yeah, I listen. Alicia really had really shown her, uh, her pension for being that, uh, that reputation of a hand holder and mm-hmm.

[00:36:13] She great with clients she showed. And a mom. Yeah. And a mom. She really showed that really well. This episode, she was, it was a great Alicia episode. Agreed. Agreed. Uh, back on the campaign, we pick up right where we left off. As you mentioned earlier, Jason, we are with Jackie staring at her bugs in her wine.

[00:36:31] Uh, at the same, we're still at the straw poll. This is like a three episode straw poll thing. A lot has happened in this, or maybe like a two episode, like maybe it was like Eli getting ready for the straw pool and then the start of the straw pool, and then now we're like in the straw poll. Um, but anywho, Maddie comes over and is like, Hey, ready for Jink later.

[00:36:54] Alicia's like, yeah, wouldn't miss it. So, great. And then Eli, last time we saw Eli, he had [00:37:00] gotten, you know, a call from this blogger saying, Hey, I'm gonna drop the story that a national magazine wrote a story and then weren't gonna, aren't gonna run it. Um, so Eli stops the staffer. And writes the phone number on the back of the staffer, which I thought was great.

[00:37:18] And then unfortunately made the guy take his shirt off in public. But um, like, I feel bad for that person, but it was so Eli, it was just like such an Eli situation. Yeah. It was a very cute, fun moment, right? Yeah. Every like, all right, I'll take a shirt off, gimme your shirt. And the guy's just like, sure. And now he's walking around the straw hole with no shirt on.

[00:37:36] Yeah. Yeah. And Eli's like, okay, well we gotta threaten this guy. Let's call the office. He calls the office and will answers, and he is like, Hey, is Diane there? Mm-hmm. I was like, no, she's out. What can I help you with Eli? He is like, no, really? Like, is like, is Diane there? Like, it's like, well also I was like, is is anyone there?

[00:37:55] But you will like, is any person I will take, [00:38:00] uh, except for you. Yeah. Like, because you, I'll take Howard. Is Howard there like. He's trying so hard because he is in a sticky situation, right? He's calling because he needs will to threaten this guy about with the cease and desist order. And to do that, like he knows he's gonna have to tell will what the cease and de desist order is about Will's like.

[00:38:21] So tell me what it's about. And he is like, ah, you know, we just need you to threaten him. He's like, you have to tell me. And he is like, okay. So Peter slept with a campaign worker. It's all, it's all lies. It's all all lies. The way that Eli phrased this was like, not good because he just, he flat out says, Peter slept with a campaign worker.

[00:38:38] Long pause, but it's not true. Like, no, you start with the, there's like, there's a story. Yes, there's bog, there's an untrue bogus, a flagrantly false story about Peter sleeping with a campaign because it feels like. When, when Eli goes, I mean, I'm sure they did this for the, for this reason in the, in the script to be like Peter, some of the campaign worker will's like, oh, really?[00:39:00]

[00:39:00] Maybe there's a chance for me to get back with Alicia. After all. Well, there's been a lot of like, like cracking of doors in that department this season. You know, there was like, will, you know, getting his suspension lifted there, like all these moments that are kind of coming together. So I think that was sort of on his mind, but also I think he was like super pissed for Alicia as well.

[00:39:23] Yeah, because when he calls Mr. V, the blogger he is, he is Will at his willies, in his threatening willies of it all, he's like, uh, if you don't, if you run this, uh, we're gonna sue you for $3 million. And he is like, all right, cool. Like, send the order and then I won't write it. Or I won't post it and this, but I guess he's too cool about it 'cause Will's like, oh, okay.

[00:39:51] Like you're not taking the boots. When I say he tell you this, like you're not super scared. And so Will calls Eli, he is like, oh yeah, he's gonna like, no matter what you do here, he's gonna run the [00:40:00] sword. Because he ain't scared. He ain't scared. He, I just called him and he's not scared. So he's prepared to do this no matter what.

[00:40:06] Yes. Agreed. And so I have to give not a star worthy credit, but Peter does call Alicia and say, Hey, this is happening. Mm-hmm. Which is something. And he also says he will call the kids. Yes. Alicia was like, oh yeah, the kids, we should probably tell them this. Yeah. He volunteers to tell the children. I'm like, oh, look at you.

[00:40:27] Okay. Not, not just ditching it all on Alicia. That's, that's great. Love that for you, Peter. And then he's like, we'll get through this. It's okay. We learn that Peter needs 95%. In the straw poll to really like, send a message and make himself like legitimate in this race. And while we're learning this information, the article goes up, Eli tells Peter, Hey, we've got about like 30 minutes before the mainstream media gets it.

[00:40:53] Uh, in the article, Eli's like, says out loud, oh crap, they mentioned the call from Will and [00:41:00] Peter's like, from who? From what? From what? From y, from what? Now he say, huh? Like, will Peter's like, Eli, what? What are you doing bro? Like, can we use any, I understand. My wife works there. Can we use any other law firm that does not employ my, uh, ex, you know, uh.

[00:41:19] Infidelity partner in Kalinda and the, uh, ex fling of my current wife will, like, what are we doing here? Why do you keep, what? And is there any other people at that law firm, but those two people that you keep going to with my problems? Yeah. Yeah. It's a very sticky situation there because Ms. Peter's Pist, he's like, he's like, do not, do not involve wheeling any of my stuff.

[00:41:44] Like, and it's like, oh, it's purely a point of like pride. Like I, it's do not want that man anywhere near me or my shenanigans. 'cause 'cause he banked. 'cause we're Eskimo brothers and I do not f out with my Eskimo brothers. Well [00:42:00] he, and he also like, he's like, Alicia kissed him. You know what I mean? Like, he's in a spot where any, anything could kind of like mess this up.

[00:42:10] So, um, and, and Peter's response to this is like, we don't need to dignify this with spin. And this is where I think. Peter is such an old school politician that he, like Eli knows what the internet can do. Eli has used the internet against people, um, and he kind of knows how it all works, but Peter's like, these things die, like don't get.

[00:42:32] And I was like, oh, that's what you thought last time You dork. Like, you know what I mean? Like, like how'd that work out for you? Hello? You dork. Oh yeah. But like, and also thinking about the Peter and Will at all, like, I'm sure that Peter's like, I do not wanna give Will any ammunition to use Exactly. Use to use against me to try and get Alicia back.

[00:42:59] [00:43:00] Exactly. That's why he's soap pissed at Eli. He's like, what? Like anyone but that guy, man. Anyone but that guy. And yeah, I think, you know, in, in the, in the year of our lower 20 20, 20 12, um, you know, it was. I think even, even less than today. Things go, things go by real fast. 'cause today this would've been, would've been like a 12 minute story and then something, something else that, uh, people in power would do would catch our attention.

[00:43:28] Yes. And, and, and, you know, call attention away from this story. But I think right now, in the, in this year that we're in, we're in the era of Tansu Obama. We are in the era of like, yeah. Things have a long shelf life in this, in this, in this time. Age. Yes. And it's still like, and are still talked about today.

[00:43:45] Mm-hmm. You know what I like because they live that long. So that, and like the blogger is not doing any favors because he photoshopped a picture of endear star to give kind of a visual to the story of who Peter slept with. [00:44:00] So you was like, you was like, oh my God. They put a Photoshop, uh, video, a photo of Endear star in here with like, she's very like ly clad.

[00:44:08] I was surprised Peter wasn't like, it's very like Baywatch vibes. Yeah, as far as Peter wasn't like, oh my God, that's terrible. Hey, can you like send that to my phone? He's like, that's the dearest star. You like slobbering at the mouth. Like, I'm gonna, I'm gonna take, I'm gonna take this in another room real quick though.

[00:44:24] Don't mind me. Yeah. I will reserve my comments about Peter at this moment in time. Uh, but, and Eli is like confronted by this whole thing, like he's being asked for comments. He's like, this is a non story. This is just, you know, like, like a rumor. It's fake. We, we proved it at the same time. Maddie comes in the bankroll of basically everything at this moment in time, and she's like, Hey, so remember like my whole deal about giving you money?

[00:44:56] As long as Peter kept it in his pants, this is not looking good. [00:45:00] And I've already like tried to talk to you about it once. Now we've got this. What's going on. And at the same time that the story breaks, Indira Star has contacted Maddie's office and so Maddie brings her to the straw poll. Mm-hmm. To talk about the situation.

[00:45:17] I would also like to point out, while Maddie's confronting Eli, yes, we do hear part of Peter's campaign speech. Yes. We do. Where he says, we need to protect a woman's right to choose. And I would just like to say, Marissa is Antipater. So I'm just wondering, uh, don't in this with me, don't eat. I, I I'm just, I don't know.

[00:45:41] I don't know Marissa. I'm just here. No, you know, Jason, you do know, you do know better. You do know better also, you know better. You, you're staunchly anti No, don't even try it. Don't even try this. Don't even try this. If I'm connecting the dots, I dunno. I, I dunno. Marissa, I'm, I got questions. I got questions.

[00:45:59] What kind of [00:46:00] questions do you have? Hmm, I'm ready for them. I mean, if you're so an, if you're so anti Peter Fluk, are you anti Peter Fork's, uh, politics? Like he is using this message to get money from Mad ps, by the way. And also, I would like to know, I thought this is where you were going, but God forbid a man actually put this together.

[00:46:20] Um, the fact that in 2012 we were talking about the women's right to choose, and we still, we have lost that right to choose in many states in 2025. I thought that's what you were gonna talk about. And I was like, so excited. I was like, oh my God, Jason, you're doing the work. You're letting the bros know you're doing all of this stuff.

[00:46:38] But no, no, it has to come back to me. And how I just seen Peter, he is a politician. The message can't be true, but the character is not fun. I did not expect tables to be turned on me in that fashion, uh, hoisted by my own tard. You knew as soon as Peter said that I was formulating this plot in my head of like, how can I, how can I use this to annoy Marissa?[00:47:00]

[00:47:00] It's kind of my fault for not bringing it up first, but still, still, uh, I I would probably, yeah, yeah, I do. I have watched enough politics in my life to know how to spin it back to you. Yes. Oh man, that was funny. Anyway. Yeah, I know. I mean, but he says that, and it's also like really served up by Eli, right?

[00:47:20] He's like, and here's the line. Yeah, yeah. There, it's, it was right to choose. And I was like, and he thinks he's gonna win big points with Mad and MAD's like, uh, no, like Endure star is here. We're gonna talk. And this is how serious I'm taking it. In the end, Peter does win the straw poll to like an overwhelming amount.

[00:47:39] He's really like the only, only candidate left at the end of this, but, um. Maddie's conversation with the Dira star was enough for her to call Alicia and say, Hey, first of all, I wanna know, I think this is hopefully the first call that she's like the first person, she's telling this, but she says, Hey, I can't support your [00:48:00] husband anymore.

[00:48:02] And Alicia's like, why? The story's like false. We proved it to be false. And she doesn't say anything else. She's not gonna give Alicia any more information on this and says, I hope that we can still be friends. Just like, sure. But I think Maddie picks up on the vibes and she's like, okay, I'll give you a few days and like, check back in.

[00:48:22] But I would really like to keep you as a friend. Yeah. This is really interesting because Alicia, I think Alicia at certain points even stops listening to Maddie. 'cause she's like, all right, whatever. Like, and just puts her phone down. Like, but you know, if. I am wondering if like Alicia has now connected Maddie too much to Peter should now be like, well, if you're not gonna support my husband, I can't be your friend.

[00:48:42] When I think Alicia has tried her best to gain independence from the Peter side of her life. But now, because Maddie is not supporting Peter, she, she doesn't want to be friends with Maddie. Or, or, or is the fact that Alicia just told [00:49:00] Maddie that it's not true and Maddie is still choosing to go this route?

[00:49:05] I think it's a little bit of both. I think it's like, Hey, I told you this wasn't true. Why aren't you believing me? And two, um, can I not have a life that's not tied to freaking Peter? You know what I mean? Like, why does everything have to be well tied? And also like she's at a point now where she's kind of on Peter's side, so I don't know how she can like, share anything about her life with anyone that isn't also on Peter's side because she can't say, especially if Maddie like switches to What if Maddie starts giving money to, what's the space?

[00:49:35] Cristi my Kristi. Yeah. Like what if that happens? Like she can't be friends with her because she can't say, Hey, I was at this event with Peter and Peter said blah, blah, blah, blah. Like, what is she, you know, like anything she does is a reflection of Peter as well. I feel like Maddie's like staunchly, like in a, in a Democrat politics.

[00:49:55] So I don't think, I don't think she would be going over to the Kristi side. Yeah, that's fair. That's fair, that's fair. Um, [00:50:00] but, you know, I don't know. It, it, it could be the fact, like you said, Alicia is getting more and more into Peter's life, so maybe she has kind of changed her stance on like, well, if you ain't supporting my husband, you ain't supporting me.

[00:50:10] So you can buzz off. Um, yeah, I, I do question like I still question Maddie's like extreme. Interest in Alicia. Like, it's very lonely. It's very lonely. When, especially for women at the top, there's not a lot of camaraderie. There's not, it's hard and it's hard to make friends. It may not be for you, Jason, but it's hard to make friends when you're old.

[00:50:33] I, and it's hard, like Krista, I just decide not to make friends. That's like, just like, it's, it, it is hard. That's why I decided not to do it. It it's really hard. Yeah. They come about in these ways of like via podcasting. Yeah. All my friends now are my fellow podcasters. And that, that's about it. Like, you know, so, uh, it's hard is why I don't do it.

[00:50:54] Like I, I got my wife. I don't need to make no more friends. Like I, in, in my [00:51:00] bachelor days I was making friends to try and make connections to try and get a wife. I already have a wife. I'm good. That's good. That's good. I think for Maddie though, she is a woman who has a lot of money, so people are always gonna want something.

[00:51:12] Mm-hmm. She doesn't. And the people that are gonna want something and the people who are in her circles are mainly men, especially in 2012. And I mean, it hasn't changed dramatically in 2025 that it would be any different now. Um, but Alicia is someone who is in that circle that would understand that life, who wouldn't want anything from her because she's got her own thing like going on.

[00:51:35] So I get why Maddie's, like, I hope we can still be friends. Like this was just like, this is business, not personal. Like, I, I hope we can keep that. And I don't think Alicia is someone, even though she has tried, even though we have seen, but she is not good at keeping business. A hundred percent and personal.

[00:51:54] A hundred percent. She, there are times where those lines cross. Because you can tell Alicia's like, girl, bye. [00:52:00] Like literally puts down her phone as Maddie is talking. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I ain't even paying attention to snowboarding. This was fun. Thanks. Bye. Yeah, yeah. Okay, we have now come to the Kalinda and tow truck guy, AK Nick segment of our podcast.

[00:52:16] I think we might need to, when we have a three storyline episode and then Kalinda iss one of the episodes. I think we need to like make her the meat of the sandwich so that we're not bekin. Oh yeah, that's fair. On the kalinda segment. 'cause this, this, again, I'm just like, woof. Like why, why is this still a thing?

[00:52:29] Well, let's get, let's get through it as quick as we can. So Nick is in with Carrie o over the weekend and asking to know about like Melinda's vetting process from this tow truck contract that was gotten. And if you remember, Kalinda had found someone and suggested that they go with the black guy because he has good ties with the city and is also black.

[00:52:44] Um, so Kerry's like, Kalinda, can you just like go talk to this guy? He won't shut up. And he keeps asking about this stuff and Kalinda is like, Kara. Okay, fine, let's go do it. Like she almost tells him, but then doesn't, and [00:53:00] Nick is like, what? Tell me more. And she's like, listen, this guy's gonna help with your criminal past.

[00:53:04] He has, ends with the city. Like, and Nick goes so. You think I should move my business to Chicago and condo's? Like, no, you asked us to vet someone. That is what we did. This is the best person. You could do whatever you want. And I like how the guy is like, welcome to Chicago. Pay up. Like Yeah, like these games that Nicki try to play with Clinda Lake.

[00:53:29] So, so you want me to move my business to Chicagos That's what you're saying. You want me to stay here in Chicago to be in a cyber vice as you, that's what you're saying. And I think I've like got him like a cat cogni accent right now and a little, yeah. I'm, I don't know that world too much. Yeah. He's like, he's like, he's, this guy's like Scott.

[00:53:47] He is like, so sell. You say, and you want me to move my business to Chicago? I don't, I don't have it. And Clinton like, he's like, Glen's like, uh, no, I'm not going to come outta my mouth and say, I want you to be in the same vicinity as me. 'cause then you will try and weirdly use it against me as if you don't have [00:54:00] me backed into a corner right now.

[00:54:01] So I'm going to skirt around that and just say, no, I did. Are you, you, I did the business you paid before. That's all. Do whatever the hell you want. It's like, it's just a weird, stupid little game. They keep playing with each other. It's like, okay. It's so annoying. Even more annoying is the fact that Clinda walks out of Kira's office, Carrie and Alicia's office technically.

[00:54:18] But while the office starts walking, Nick follows her. And here's her on the phone with Alicia Alicia's, like basically like, get over to Laman Bishop's house. We need you. He's like, okay, I'll be right there. And Nick's like, you were on the phone with your girlfriend, like your lesbian girlfriend as opposed to your non lesbian?

[00:54:37] Well, I mean, you could be a bi girlfriend also, or like a pan girlfriend, but still it was very, very coded. You could be a platonic girlfriend. Like you could be a platonic. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Exactly. But she's my mother. My mother calls her friends that are girl's, girlfriends, all time girl friends. Yeah, exactly.

[00:54:52] Yeah. Uh, so they're having this conversation and carrie's, like watching from his office. [00:55:00] And then there's a moment where Nick goes, your voice on the phone that was not your work voice and starts like kind of like. Motioning towards Kalinda, ed carrie's leg straight up out of his desk into the hallway, Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, do I gotta do, I gotta break this up.

[00:55:17] What's going on? I was like, oh, look at you gal and Carrie. I know. I was like, oh, Carrie. Um, and in the end, Nick's like, or Kalinda iss, like, I'm fine. Everything's okay. And well, because, well, 'cause Carrie, at first Carrie sees like this confrontation. He is like, Hmm, interesting. He's like, he's like looking over, he is like, I'm gonna keep my eye on this.

[00:55:36] 'cause he can tell that Nick is like very close to Kalinda and he is like, what the hell's going on here? And then Kalinda like literally pushes, uh, Nick. Yeah. Like push, push. And he is like, and that's when Carrie gets, he's like, oh, whoa, I gotta, I gotta do something here. Like, I hope not. 'cause I think this guy probably beat my ass, but I will if I have to.

[00:55:55] But he would win the law case about the assault either way. Well, for sure, for sure. [00:56:00] Uh, Nick Penn is like, okay, let's go sign the contract with the black guy. I was like, okay. Great. Yeah. Uh, then after Kalinda has been like, talked to Lana, remember Lana has said, Hey, my apartment is trashed. Like your Lamond guy did this.

[00:56:22] And she's like, I don't think so. So she goes and confronts Nick about Lana's apartment. She's so keen on this. She calls 9 1 1 and says, Hey, there's about to be a break in in my apartment. Um, can you come? And Nick is like, listen, you got 15 minutes before like anything happens. 'cause I found the hole in the wall with the money basically.

[00:56:43] And there's only $10,000 here. So what happened to the rest of it? And he's so pissed. Like, this is okay. I am gonna kind of go on a little bit of a tirade when Nick says, this is your fault, Kalinda, because you made me love you. [00:57:00] I was like. Do you, do you not? I mean, obviously he's a white man, he's not gonna take responsibility for his own actions like, um, like innately uhhuh, unless he was raised right.

[00:57:11] You know what I mean? Like society doesn't really like do that, but I just was like, it's not her fault. You're the one who's obsessed with her, you weirdo. Like, I don't know what else to say. And it's not her fault. You may, I can't stop thinking about you that says I can't stop thinking about, it's not like she's like putting him in front of a screen and making him watch all this stuff all the time.

[00:57:32] You know what I mean? Like Yeah, it is, it was very frustrating. And Clinda was like basically like, look, I'm not who I was, so why are we even like trying this? And Nick's like, yeah, well Lana's not who you think she is either because here's a picture of you with Eli. And this does kind of frame Melinda's thoughts around Lana later in the episode because Lana said to her like, don't let this Lemond stuff come between us.

[00:57:57] And Kalinda was basically like, there was no us. [00:58:00] Yeah, because, you know, this is, this means like, okay, is Lana investigating me? Is she investigating Eli slash Peter and why is she taking secret photographs of me like meeting with Eli? That's not cool. And yeah, Lana does pick up on the, like, coldness of Clinda.

[00:58:17] She's like, and she, she thinks it's about Lavo or is Ordas like, no, it's about you investigating me. But she can't say that 'cause she doesn't want Lana to know that she knows. Uh, so that's, that's an interesting wrinkle to the Kalinda story. Um, I just, I was happy to see her finally push Nick away though.

[00:58:33] 'cause like Nick, after he shows the picture, like goes in for like a comforting hug or whatever and she's like, no. Like, yeah, don't even try. Where other times she's picked up on those vibes and taken, taken much her. Yeah. And I'm, and I'm more and more getting this, this is kind of a weird toxic tango, the book Oh yeah.

[00:58:51] Involved in, because the same way that Nick is like obsessed with her, it seems like Clinda iss also weirdly obsessed with Nick. So it's like this weird, awful. Toxic [00:59:00] thing. They're into, she needs a friend. She needs a friend to say, yo, this isn't great. Like, don't do this. Yeah. But I don't even think any of her friends even realize how messed up this whole thing is.

[00:59:11] 'cause even though Alicia knows that Nick is here in the pictures, she does not know the extent of exactly the things that are going on. 'cause Clinda is living her own little double secret life over here. I do hope that at some point our, everyone realized what was going on with Nick and they all band together and help clinda out this, that includes like, will, Alicia, Carrie, all the people that really care about Clinda.

[00:59:36] Like I, I wouldn't really put Diane in in that because it just, it feels like Clinda is closest to Alicia. Will, Carrie. But if it affects the firm or if it like, is needed in court or whatever, Diane will be there. Like she, yeah, of course she'll, she'll be around. But I think Glenda's had these, like close relationships with those, with those other three, uh, more than Diane, which is Yes.

[00:59:59] Yes. Uh, [01:00:00] but yeah, I hope it's, it's like a, a group effort needed to ab like an intervention. Yeah. To abscond with Nick to like send Nick wherever Nick needs to go. Yeah. So, yeah, we've got, I, I'm assuming we're gonna see some more Laman Bishop stuff this season because this came so early in season four.

[01:00:17] Hopefully we'll see the play out in court and how this goes forward, and if it does end up winning some business for, uh, for the firm, this is the one moment in time where Peter's campaign is kind of, kind of safe because I think the shit, the shit has hit the fan, but it, well, it's gonna hit even more and be spread even more and more.

[01:00:39] People are gonna know about this in the next episode for sure. Well, and ma and now Maddy's money is gone for Peter. So what, what, what exactly does that mean? Because I mean, when Peter won the straw poll in this episode, he was like, he's like, it's all thanks to you, Eli, you and Maddie. Like, we need to make sure we keep mad close.

[01:00:55] And it's like, okay. Gone. It's like a doing his [01:01:00] great campaign manager think of saying like, Springfield is this close, at the same time going, everything's falling apart. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, so it'll be interesting to see where we go with that, where Maddie goes, because I don't think this is the last we've seen of Maddie.

[01:01:13] Um, so what's gonna happen there? Yeah. But yeah, uh, Marissa, that was our episode. And also that had like, no in courtroom, you know, scenes really. We had a, we had a moment in judge's chambers with the, the stock market judge. But, uh, other than that, uh, there's not, not any court proceedings going on, um, which was interesting.

[01:01:34] Uh, we get, we, that's kind of a rare, you know, thing to happen on a good way. I do like those though because I like when they're showing us how the law works outside of the courtroom. Like Yeah. Showing, showing a lawyer's job, like Yeah. That's not just in court. Yeah. And it's not, and I also liked the, like numbers part of it too, like accounting is important because it can tell a story and it can hurt you or help you in court.

[01:01:59] [01:02:00] So I just like, I like seeing the other facets of things as much as I love like arguments and objections in court. Faux show. Um, okay folks, that's, that's, uh, this episode. Marissa, you wanna tell the good folks where they can find you online? Yeah. Hey, good folks. You can find me at, it's me, marissa g.com, where I have links to all the po other podcasts that I'm on, including the Good Pod.

[01:03:55] We are also wrapping up the lowest blind coverage of season nine. We just [01:04:00] dropped the weddings episode over on the lower first sight feed as well.
