And here’s today’s news from Public Sector Executive – on Friday the 5th April 2024.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has announced that further investment is being committed to stopping community spaces from being closed.
As part of the third round of the Community Ownership Fund, £33.5 million of funding will ensure that more than 80 community establishments are protected.
Over the course of the Community Ownership Fund, more than £103 million has contributed to the security of 333 projects around the UK.

Funding is being allocated to ensuring that children with special educational needs in Nottingham can benefit from quality education.
Funding will be committed over the course of two years and will support Nottinghamshire County Council’s goals of creating an additional 490 SEND and alternative provision school places by 2026.
This goal has been set to help address the ever-increasing demand for specialist school places nationwide and is a part of the council’s SEND strategic planning strategy.

Somerset Council has announced that it has signed a new contract that marks ‘a new era’ in the county’s highway maintenance.
Coming into action on the 1st April, the contract is worth £225 million and will see the council working with a new supplier to ensure maintenance across the 4,172-mile road network.
The contract was awarded after the new supplier was able to provide the council with better value for money, innovation and eco-friendly practices that will contribute to the council’s sustainability goals.
