We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.
So when that lunch bell ring, yeah,
you know what to do.
Hit play, stay strong,
let the ball carry you.
Clydesdale Cowboy, yeah, we stay on track.
Midday Kings of the mic, yeah,
we always come back.
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time you press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdale.
Cowboy bring the heat.
CrossFit movies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate, tune in now,
you part of the fam.
And I'm starting off great with a muted
mic.
What's going on, everyone?
It's not really lunch with the Clydesdales
out here.
It is like breakfast time.
But whatever meal you're eating,
we are glad to be with you.
I know, Trent, a Saturday Clydesdale.
You only get that during the special
events like the CrossFit Games.
Yeah, Kenneth,
you've been around long enough to know
that the muted mic used to be a
way bigger problem.
But I think we've got that rectified for
the most part.
Clive, hell yeah,
breakfast with the Clydesdale.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Kenneth is coming in hot this morning
with, I'm going to throw this out.
If an athlete can be helped to the
finish line by medical,
and it still counts.
Should an athlete get their time back from
not hitting the buzzer?
Everybody knows I have not been
inconsistent on my finish line talk.
I love a good finish line where I
know when the event is ending.
I think the buzzer brings that to the
table.
It's just like the standards of the
workout.
To finish the workout,
you have to hit the buzzer.
You're told that beforehand.
Got to hit the buzzer.
Got to hit the buzzer.
With that,
about being assisted to the finish line,
I think at the very least that should
have been a last place finish.
It was not.
Beyond that, I'm not sure.
I think if someone takes a header down
the hill,
they should be allowed to continue.
But if they need assistance to the finish
line, it should be a dead last.
SEMA, for once, I don't agree.
I like the buzzers.
I can physically see it.
I don't have to look to see what
leg the chip timer was on.
I like the fact they have to physically
lunge for reach for smack down a buzzer.
I think it gives us more epic finishes.
I think we wouldn't get Justin Medeiros
diving over the finish line if it was
a chip timer.
I just, I think it's cool.
Did they hire a new crew?
How can the coverage be so much better
from one day to the next?
Not complaining.
I think it is.
I don't know if it's a new crew.
It's a new venue.
Like you have a state-of-the-art venue for
the first time ever at the CrossFit Games.
Inside is plush.
It is nice.
The seats are comfortable.
It is the most comfortable CrossFit Games
I've ever attended other than
It is cold as ice in that place.
Freezing in that place.
I am running up the stairs to the
media room between events just to warm up.
And I am never cold.
Never, ever cold.
The people I'm hanging out with are diving
for sweatshirts.
I didn't pack any because I'm a jackass.
Um, but it is,
it is freezing in the stadium.
Uh, but it is, the vibes are awesome.
The stadium started to fill up yesterday a
little bit.
Hopefully today we get to see a lot
more of that.
Um, because yeah, it, the,
the vibes are cool.
People are getting up on their feet for
finishes.
They're, they're yelling,
they're screaming.
It's,
it is a cool environment to be in.
Daniel, I did not say buzzers are dumb.
But it is brief to the athlete.
The buzzer also requires an additional
point of accuracy to.
At extreme exhaustion,
I don't know if we're testing accuracy
Vicki, but I get your point.
Also shoulder some shoulder injuries.
You know what?
If you die for the buzzer and you
get a shoulder injury,
that's part of the sport.
When you go outside the realm of what
you're supposed to or required to do by
making a lunge or by making a dive,
you're putting that at risk and you know
it going ahead.
I never thought we would be talking about
buzzers this much this morning.
The Shark Tank.
Three hundred and sixty five days till
hockey tryouts.
There you go.
It's a beautiful, beautiful place.
Just, you know, inside.
And it's not like brand new.
It's been around a little while.
Stadium shots make it look great in there.
Looks full, looks intimate and looks epic.
I'll tell you,
when I went up to the venue yesterday.
But there was a line down the street
to get into the venue.
We didn't see that in Albany.
I loved hearing the crowd count the hang
squat cleans.
I did too.
I'm going to be a little bit critical
of it, Amanda.
It was cool the first time when it
was for the win.
Then the floor MC tried to get it
to happen over and over again.
I think it's effective for the win,
and it's effective if you're the last
person out there and people are cheering
you in.
But we don't need to do it ten
times during an event.
If all but one or two athletes do
it, it's not a big deal.
Swimming has watches just in case the
touch doesn't work.
Cross that great point,
but those touch pads don't work sometimes
due to technical glitches.
James not touching the buzzer was not a
technical glitch.
He just didn't do it.
I think Trent makes a great point.
I feel like the injury is more likely
with chip timers and the one leg extension
lunge.
Sport requires risk, amen.
John George, I'm late.
Sure he is.
I'm late.
How's the crowd?
Crowds really good, really, really good.
Like I said, to get in yesterday,
it was way down the street, the line.
And it seemed to be filling up throughout
the day.
I will say this vendor village is across
the street in a park.
And so people are coming and going a
lot throughout the day.
So I don't know if we've ever had
the full crowd in there all at one
time.
The one thing I did like about Albany
is the street in front of the venue
was closed down and they turned that into
a partial vendor village.
Barack Obama is shut down and it's really
just like a running course,
but it's only taking up half the street.
now i don't know if they have other
events or if the big bob took up
more or what um because i wasn't over
there for big bob um but i think
it would have been cool to have some
of the vendor village down barack obama so
um vicky's bringing something up i wanted
to address and so i'm trying to work
my other screen
So I don't know if you guys saw
this, but Carolyn was bored yesterday.
And so I'm going to share my screen.
She was in vendor village.
And.
I don't know if you guys can see
this.
She decided to take on the deadlift
challenge.
And if you guys know Carolyn, you know,
she wins the games.
What the heck?
Still has some gas in the tank.
Let's go see how many deadlifts we can
do unbroken.
If you want to know the answer to
that, it's eighty three reps unbroken.
At a pretty good clip, I might add.
It was freaking insane.
Yeah,
I think it would have been cooler had
she done it with her gold medal around
her neck while she was doing it,
but maybe that she would only got
eighty-one at that point.
So yeah, so one win isn't enough.
She's got to go win the deadlift
challenge.
There it is.
John George,
I've been critical up until yesterday,
but the feed and the coverage has been
great.
Love the shot from the far side of
the floor when you can see all the
athletes.
I didn't see much of the coverage,
so I'm not going to be able to
–
I'm not going to be able to comment
on that that much because I was actually
in the venue.
I did not look at the stream very
much throughout the day yesterday,
but I've heard nothing but good things.
They do have TVs in the media room.
So like if you're running between events
and you're trying to download stuff and
then you can see when they're going and
you can then run out to the floor
really quick.
So there.
First event, what time?
I think individuals is eleven a.m.
I think the teams have already gone at
seven a.m.
this morning.
I did see,
I think CrossFat said the Jumbotron and
stuff inside the venue were just replaced.
The Jumbotron is gorgeous.
Like if there's something you want to see
up close and it's on the Jumbotron and
it's got like three rings around it with
video board.
The TV screens are immaculate.
And then there's screens up under it.
If you're like too close,
you can look up under and they have
TVs inside of it.
So you can see stuff from there.
um uh wondering if the venue fluidity with
barn and ranch caused the coverage to be
so spotty it had to it had to
play a part um i mean i've heard
savan say that like the the internet out
at the ranch is non-existent um
I mean,
so they had to be faced with a
ton of challenges.
Plus,
trying to cover a run around in the
woods has gotta be ridiculous.
I like this analogy.
James basically dropped the football
before crossing the goal line.
I think that's a great analogy.
Yeah, Caro is pretty good at deadlifting.
She should do it more.
I think she would if she was given
the opportunity.
I am so far behind on comments.
I apologize.
So I have to skip ahead.
Yeah,
I think Seema's talking about event
fourteen.
There's some talk back and forth.
And no, Kenneth,
I did not get the Bears hat signed.
I did not see Tyson other than on
the floor.
So I have not,
I did not get it signed.
Someday maybe I'll meet him.
Individuals start at ten a.m.
Pacific time, five hundred meter run.
Okay.
I train all of he's got to act
like he's been there before big
celebration for not winning the event he,
but I think he did better than he
even thought he was going to do and
so like I get the excitement.
But spike the ball after you cross the
goal line.
Like hit the buzzer and then do your
flex it still works.
Everybody thinks Ricky's going to win the
sprint.
I don't necessarily agree.
Just because he can run a mile fast
doesn't mean you can run five hundred
meters fast.
I think Guy is really,
really fast in a sprint.
And you should look for Guy to be
up there with Ricky for five hundred.
It's such a short time domain that that
is right in Guy's wheelhouse.
Because I don't I don't feel like Ricky
looks like Ricky this weekend.
Like that runs squat clean workout.
He did not do well.
How many times have we seen showboating
backfire?
There you go.
Ricky has personal stuff going on.
Yeah, I don't know anything about that.
what's weird like and i don't know if
you guys realize when you're at the venue
you're disconnected from like all the news
about the people the unless it becomes a
rumor in the media room like you're you're
kind of cut off from all the news
like you don't hear chase and sean you
don't hear any of that stuff so like
i am i'm really cut off from everything
like that i'm really just there
for the sport when you're in the venue.
A couple of things I did want to
quickly talk about.
Opening ceremonies,
I thought it was great.
I love that the adaptive, the teen,
the masters got to march in with everybody
else.
We haven't seen that because of the
disconnect.
I thought it was really cool.
I love the past champions.
I wish more were there.
I really wish,
because nobody knew that Rich's plane was
delayed.
Why didn't they just put the card up
that he was a past champion and say
he couldn't make it because his plane got
delayed?
There were so many questions going around
the arena like, why isn't Rich here?
Why isn't Rich here?
None of us knew until Dave went to
the hopper and subbed in Jason Kalipa.
So it was but I wish like the
daughters were there.
I wish Miko was there.
But overseas travel just to walk out on
the floor is probably not ideal.
They're moving so fast.
Hillary,
that's why I'm making the recap videos.
Dude,
I am trying to keep up with your
recap videos as well.
But as you mentioned in your recap this
morning, the events are moving so fast.
Like one is done,
the next one is going.
Like you have ten minutes tops in between
events to try to catch up with stuff.
I've never been at a games that moved
this quickly.
It is just bam, bam, bam, bam, bam.
If it wasn't so cold in the arena,
I probably wouldn't even leave my seat.
So yeah, the opening ceremonies were cool.
I'm probably on the
wrong side of this statement,
but I thought the hopper was kind of
like blah.
Now, I guess they didn't even stream it.
So the only way you could even see
it is if you had the video from
Instagram or something like that.
But it just pick one red ball,
pick one blue ball.
You could kind of see in it like
they didn't even turn their head or
I mean, I don't know.
It just felt like Annie could have grabbed
whatever her favorite movement was.
Her daughter could have grabbed their
favorite movement.
I don't know.
It was anticlimactic.
I was all excited for it,
and it just did not go well.
It did not play off as well as
I think they wanted it to play off.
John George, Hiller showed it.
Workout was way better than hopper
buildup.
I agree.
The workout turned out great.
Exciting finishes.
But the actual hopper draw, I think,
kind of fell flat.
Yeah,
that's one thing I kind of disagreed with
Hiller this morning and Danielle and the
handstand and the
The L-sit to press the handstand,
they've been working on that for years.
Has Danielle just ignored it?
Like,
she didn't even look like she had ever,
ever tried it.
Didn't look like she knew what she was
doing.
It was wild in the arena because as
she was trying to go unbroken,
the place got electric and people were up
on their feet.
And then it just went, ugh.
when she couldn't press the handstand.
It just like all the air went out
of the building when she couldn't press
the handstand.
Now, Victor Hoffer, the place went wild,
wild when he was going unbroken to that.
And then he went right up and across.
So,
fifty eight seconds for that or something
was bonkers, bonkers.
I don't know what you're talking about
with the blue lights for the hopper.
Yeah,
it did kind of look NBA-ish or hockey-ish.
That's not what messed it up for me.
It just seemed to fall flat.
Have I met Ken?
Well, I've met him in the past.
I've not seen him at this event.
We're in a weird spot.
They have all the media down by the
rig.
so we can't really see the finish line
unless you have the lanyard to get down
to the finish line and again i have
my photographer down there getting shots
so i am not down there um the
rest of us are moving tripods through
seats and trying to get shots from the
rig area um
And then the media room is in like
a weird second level that doesn't access
to anything else.
So I'll try to get up and walk
around a little bit today.
There were some empty seats down there.
I tried that last night.
I tried to just go to an empty
seat closer.
to the front or to the finish line
and a lady came down said this is
her seat and kicked me out so.
So there it is.
How many fistfights have happened with the
media who were allowed to attend per
gatekeepers?
I haven't seen any drama dude.
This isn't about media.
The CrossFit Games are not about media.
They're about the athletes and the
CrossFit Games and the fun stuff we get
to watch.
That's what it's about.
I will say this.
I buried a beef yesterday that I've had
for a couple years.
I had a great talk with Lauren Khalil.
As you know,
our beef was highlighted a little bit ago.
And because I've been saying I didn't want
any beef, this was about the games.
I took my own advice and I went
up to Lauren and we had a nice
long conversation.
And it was really cool and productive.
And yeah,
like we hugged it out and everything.
It wasn't like the rich froning Matt
Frazier picture with the handshake.
We actually hugged it out.
Um,
and I used to be friends with Lauren
when we,
we both hated morning chalk up at the
same time.
We even tested to do a show together
for morning chalk up.
Um, so I'm glad it's over.
We don't have to be awkward around each
other anymore.
We talked it all out.
Um,
We apologized and there it is.
Trish is allergic to beef, me too,
me too.
I love beefs,
it's my preferred source of protein.
Look at you Trish,
you can't let it go, man.
She's still talking shit.
That's I she probably isn't.
She's busy.
She got she got the gig to do
the press conferences and she's putting
out great content and.
You know what's funny?
Kenneth is pocket jerky.
I actually left home without it.
I bought it, forgot to throw it,
forgot to throw it in my suitcase so
I don't have my pocket jerky.
John George ain't lying.
I have a major beef with my work.
That is correct.
My day job, I have beef with.
I do think that's kind of cool how
it's kind of working out.
Boys Interrupted versus Aussies is pretty
cool.
It's kind of giving a cool storyline to
the whole thing.
I'd probably draw the line at pocket dogs,
CrossFit.
I do have a beef with reading, too.
This got way off tangent today.
The one thing I did want to comment
on is that sack toss, bag toss...
whatever,
that has been the low light of the
weekend for me.
That I just did not get.
Standing there watching,
it brought no juice to the arena.
And you're doing twenty events,
they're not all going to be bangers.
But doggone it, it just, that event was,
it fell real flat in the arena.
Real flat.
And I can't even imagine trying to watch
it on a stream.
That was behind a paywall.
So if you didn't pay for the Flow
Elite subscription,
you didn't miss anything.
Let's just say that.
Shelly Young,
who is a lovely person I got to
meet this week.
I agree.
I felt like it fell flat.
It so fell flat.
So fell flat.
I think so, Tia Samodian,
how should throwing be tested?
I think the throw over the head was
fine.
It's the two side tosses beforehand that
just felt like blah.
But I'm wondering if they allowed three
behind the back,
it would have gone further than the arena
floor.
And maybe they should have only done two.
I don't know how they would fix it.
I thought that behind the back was the
most exciting of the three,
but maybe we should stop trying to polish
a turd and just call it a turd
and never bring it back again.
But me saying that probably means if Dave
heard it,
he would bring it back just in spite
of me.
Over the bar would be so much better.
CrossFit,
after watching some of these athletes try
to throw that thing,
they would knock themselves out.
They have no idea what release point to
use.
Now, some were fine.
Some just brute strength chucked it.
But, man,
if they tried to go over a bar,
they'd probably kill themselves.
I was sitting with Amanda Harry during
that event,
and we're looking at each other like,
exactly what John George is saying, like,
what fitness is this even testing?
I'm not sure it even truly is testing
a throw.
I don't know.
They allowed Shelly in.
So far, they have Trish.
Shelly is too sweet of a person to
be thrown out for saying anything.
I really enjoyed my time with her and
Larry this week.
They were fun people.
Barbell's been in the chat.
Good morning.
Over at Target.
Again, Daniel, I think over at Target,
I know that you paid for the Flow
Elite stream.
Look at how those athletes threw that bag.
It was a train wreck.
If they tried to throw it up and
over,
they were going to knock themselves out.
I kid you not.
uh getting in trouble for saying things on
the internet is why i'm anonymous hard to
work without access here's my feeling on
this cross fat is if they don't let
me in the games i can still talk
about it um i'm not going to stop
saying anything that i want to say my
face is here every day at lunchtime
Sunday nights,
I try to be as open and honest
and transparent as I can about my thoughts
about things.
And if they want to boot me,
they're going to boot me.
Do I think that's good for the sport?
I think it's terrible for the sport.
Yeah,
why cut off the people that are trying
to support the sport and get hype behind
it?
I don't know.
But they all threw it up and behind
them.
I get that spin,
but if you're trying to get up and
over a target,
the release point's going to be different
than just trying to chuck it for distance.
Up and over the release point,
that thing could come straight back down.
Omar, if you want me to convert times,
you're talking to the wrong dude.
I'm an East Coast guy in a West
Coast time zone,
and my body is all over the map.
I have no freaking clue what time it
is.
The other night,
I went to bed at like, six thirty.
It happened to Brian Shaw.
He just walked it off.
Have you seen Brian Shaw's neck?
Brian Shaw's able to walk it off.
Most people would not be.
So what's going on today?
We got event fourteen announced.
Gosh, I can't even remember it now.
Um,
let me see if I can pull that
up real quick.
So we have event today.
I think this is going to be fun.
Um,
Ten bar muscle ups,
fifteen GHD wall ball shots,
twenty triple unders, one pig flip,
fifteen bar muscle ups,
twenty GHD wall ball shots,
twenty-five triple unders, two pig flips,
twenty bar muscle ups,
twenty-five GHD wall ball shots,
thirty triple unders, three pig flips.
Time cap is fifteen minutes.
So now we have triple unders and GHD
wall ball shots.
I I'd like to know the standard on
the wobble shot.
Oh,
it is to a nine foot and ten
foot target.
From a GHD.
That's going to be interesting.
That's going to be very interesting.
I did not read that part until just
now.
I think the triple unders are going to
kill some people.
Not like literally,
but figuratively on the scoreboard.
There are people that are not going to
be able to get through this.
And this is all over the place.
I mean,
you have like the monostructural triple
under.
You have the strongman pig flip.
You have the bar muscle up gymnasty.
And I don't know what you call the
GHD.
It's all over the map,
but it should be fun to watch.
That's for sure.
I'm trying to let me see.
Vicki sent me a new schedule this morning.
So the individuals start at ten AM Pacific
time.
That's one PM Eastern with a five hundred
meter run.
Eleven a.m.
We don't know the workout yet.
Yes, we do.
That's what I just talked about.
Eleven a.m.
Pacific time is this individual event.
Fourteen.
Then at two p.m.
Pacific time, we have individual event.
Fifteen speed snatch ladder and then
individual event.
Sixteen and seventeen is still to be
determined.
So that is.
So then we only have three events
tomorrow.
And one of them is that ring roll
to support stuff.
So that's your individual events for
today.
And then teams already started at seven
a.m.
this morning.
And then they have an eight twenty five
Pacific time and a two twenty five.
Those later workouts haven't even been
announced yet.
Oh,
sixteen and seventeen are being announced
right now.
Omar is going to have to fill us
in.
Vicky,
sorry I made that before the event was
announced.
Vicky, never apologize.
You're keeping me on track this weekend
with schedules for sure.
So Omar, where is it being announced?
Is it on the stream?
Trying to pull it up.
CrossFit IG, okay.
I can do that.
I don't see anything, Omar, live.
Oh, gosh.
The audio is cutting out on me.
Can't hear anything.
Looks like some sled drag stuff.
Looks like a box.
Looks like a biker or an echo bike.
And we have a barbell.
Yeah, way to go with the audio guys.
I hear thrusters kind of under his breath.
To me,
it kind of looks like it's going to
be a back-to-back with a sled thing and
a box jump something.
in the app now.
I can't access the app, Vicky.
If you can screenshot it and send it
to me, that would be better.
That is Pig Party.
That is the team event, Vicky.
We're looking for sixteen to seventeen.
Yeah, this audio is atrocious.
I think he lied.
All right.
This is, I can't even figure it out.
There is no sound on that at all.
And the mumble is distracting me.
Okay.
So that's what we have going on today.
I'm glad you guys were all here.
I want to thank each and every one
of you.
Today, this morning,
I went over five thousand followers on
Instagram,
which I know to some people that's not
a big deal.
To me, it's a huge deal.
I've never bought viewers.
I've never bought subscribers.
I've never bought followers.
And to know that five thousand people have
followed me for the content that we put
out is very, very cool.
and for it to happen at the crossfit
games is really awesome almost seven years
ago i started this podcast as a guy
nobody knew and to get to this place
where i have five thousand subscribers or
three thousand subscribers and five
thousand followers is very special to me
and that's because of each and every one
of you and i want to thank you
guys so much for that
You guys are the best, as always.
Don't forget to go buy your Thirdsy so
you can sleep at night, get your recovery,
get ready for the next day,
and get fifteen percent off.
Code Jazzy.
Code Jazzy gets you fifteen percent off at
checkout.
That's Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.
With that, we'll be back tomorrow morning.
We'll do another quick show.
I'm trying to get the girls lined up
to do something
It may be after we get home,
but I want to debrief them on the
Masters games and get their take on
everything that has happened over this
weekend.
Jamie's running between the team games and
the elite games.
So with all that,
we'll see you guys tomorrow morning for
sure.
With that,
have a great rest of your day,
and don't forget.
to always, always stay jazzy.
You wouldn't wait to get to the editing
room to jazz me up.
I'm already jazzy.
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we covered it all.
Midday motivation every time you press
call.
Lunch with the Glidesdale,
cowboy in the heat.
CrossFit movies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
