Welcome, dear listeners, to another day of exploring the wisdom of the Tanya. Today, we delve into Chapter 32, famously known as the "Lev" chapter, or the chapter of the heart.
The Tanya teaches us that every Jew has two souls - the animal soul and the divine soul. The animal soul is self-serving, while the divine soul seeks to connect with G-d. The Lev, or heart, is often the battleground where these two souls wage war. The animal soul tries to dominate the right side of the heart, while the divine soul resides in the brain and extends into the left side.
In our daily lives, we often find ourselves torn between self-serving desires and our yearning to do good. This is the struggle depicted in the Tanya. It's not about completely suppressing our animal soul, but about channeling it in the right way.
The key to winning this battle, the Tanya suggests, is 'Ahavat Israel', love for our fellow Jew. This love stems from the divine soul and has the power to tip the scales in favor of our divine desires. When we act out of love for others, we are acting from our divine soul, connecting us to G-d and to each other.
Let us remember this profound lesson as we navigate our daily lives. May we strive to act out of love, strengthening our divine souls and connecting with each other and with the divine.
