Right on Rangers LIVE!

Texas survived another pitching emergency and ended the night alone atop the AL West with a 6-2 win over Toronto. Cal Quantrill exited with right lat tightness after 1⅓ innings, but Jordan Montgomery answered with 3⅔ hitless innings as the Rangers pieced together the rest and Houston fell to Atlanta.

Austin gets into why this pitching staff keeps finding answers, whether this run is starting to carry a little 2023 magic, and how Josh Jung and Nathan Eovaldi have changed the feel of the club since returning. The show also works through the postseason rotation, the No. 2 seed path, Walcott and Cauley, and Sunday’s need for Jacob deGrom to give the bullpen real length.

What is Right on Rangers LIVE!?

Right on Rangers is where Rangers fans ride the season in real time.

The LIVE shows are the heartbeat. Big wins, ugly losses, bullpen chaos, breakout heaters, trade rumors, roster debates, and the takes that come with actually caring about this team.

Sometimes those takes get hot. That’s part of watching 162 with people who are invested. But the reaction still has receipts. We use stats, film, history, roster context, and what’s happening on the field to figure out what the game actually revealed.

Between LIVE shows, we go deeper on the players, decisions, stories, and moments shaping Texas baseball.

Rangers first, always. When the calendar turns, the Cowboys, Longhorns, Mavericks, and the biggest Texas sports stories get their run too.

If you want sterile box-score recaps, this probably isn’t your show. If you want passionate Rangers talk with actual baseball underneath it, welcome in.

Hi and welcome to another edition of Right

on Rangers Live coming at you after a

6-2 victory, Texas getting the series win

against the Toronto Blue Jays.

We now roll into Sunday's game looking for

a sweep with none other than Jacob deGrom

on the mound just like we all drew

it up at the beginning of the season.

Of course, oh my goodness, good to be

hanging out with all you guys.

A game that definitely had a familiar shape

to it.

The Rangers getting some good fortune from the

Blue Jays early on with a defense that

was not very good yesterday or today.

You had an errant throw allowing Texas to

put up some early runs, a wild pitch

as well.

You had Paul Sewald, man is he haunted.

I'm sure he's haunted by this place.

Paul Sewald hits a batter.

You absolutely had a little bit of help

from the Toronto Blue Jays today but the

Rangers late, tacked on and they earned it

with the bats.

You had Wyatt Langford with a big hit

really allowing the Rangers to pad that lead

and after Cal Quantrill goes down with an

injury early in the second inning, you have

Jordan Montgomery, you have the Rangers bullpen really

step up to hold this Toronto team to

two runs.

Jordan Montgomery saving the bullpen tonight.

I 100% agree with that sentiment.

Absolutely.

Good stuff.

Wow.

And by the way, you just had the

Astros lose to the Atlanta Braves.

This day just keeps getting better and better.

You had Ronald Acuña Jr. hitting a grand

slam and now the Texas Rangers sit in

first place.

Hard to believe.

It really is hard to believe with where

this team has come from that we now

sit in first place.

Can't even believe it honestly.

Can't believe it.

This Rangers team has been an up and

down roller coaster ride throughout 2026 but they

find a way and they are now 78

and 77 and they sit atop the AL

West.

The only thing that maybe weighs on you

a little bit after a game like today

is Cal Quantrill.

What the heck happens with Cal Quantrill?

Didn't look good.

He was injured obviously in that game that

he last pitched and then you had him

coming in saying that he felt good but

clearly some ailments still bothering him.

They talked about a couple of different things.

Didn't know we got the full report necessarily

but lat tightness.

I forget exactly what the terminology was.

Right lat tightness.

His final four-seamer was only 88 miles

an hour and he was averaging about 94

on the season so I mean that was

a pretty big clue right there that something

was not quite right.

We have a chance.

We have a chance.

You got pretty much a brand new season.

You now fully control your own destiny.

That is the beautiful thing about this win.

You're in full control.

You no longer have to count on the

Astros.

You no longer have to count on anybody

else.

You are in full control here and I

love that.

Absolutely love it.

The Rangers for so long have been scoreboard

watching and chasing certain teams.

We're always having to look what are the

White Sox doing?

What are the Blue Jays doing?

What are the Guardians doing?

I'm so glad we now are in a

position and look you got to win tomorrow.

You got to keep winning but I'm so

glad to be in a position where you

can say to yourself with seven games left,

seven games, you control your own fate.

You keep winning.

You stay in first place.

You drop games.

Well, we know what the alternative is.

What a great day to be a Texas

Rangers fan.

I am almost in disbelief that this is

where we stand after all that we've been

through with these Texas Rangers in 2026.

Hard to believe this is where we stand

but I'm loving every minute of it.

All right, y'all know the drill here

at Right on Rangers.

We cover everything Texas sports but we put

a huge emphasis on the Rangers during the

MLB season and we thank you for choosing

Right on Rangers for all of your Texas

Rangers content.

Drop a comment.

Drop a question.

We want to get to as much as

we possibly can tonight.

Thought Quantrill had back issues.

Well, I mean, that technically counts as a

back issue, right?

Hopefully, it heals up, man.

You need Cal Quantrill for the home stretch.

You really do.

Absolutely.

deGrom is pitching tomorrow, yes.

Hey, you just have to find a way

to keep stacking these victories.

You should sweep tomorrow.

You got Jacob deGrom.

You got one of the best pitchers in

the game on the mound.

You should sweep tomorrow.

John, I totally agree with you.

We need vintage deGrom.

You need to finish off this sweep.

You know Houston is going to be digging

deep.

You know they're going to be gunning.

You got to keep your foot on the

gas pedal.

Cannot give this one up.

You have control.

You don't have the tiebreaker.

And you've got your best pitcher, your $38

million man on the mound tomorrow.

Let's go.

We got to do a job.

Got to figure this one out.

Let's keep on rolling.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

Toronto season, I mean, look, I guess they

could probably go on a run and somebody

could go in the toilet.

You never know.

Robert Garcia scared me for a minute.

I know that I have become like the

resident Robert Garcia apologist here, but I will

say this.

Robert Garcia to me is essentially a lefty

specialist at this point.

He is a guy that you like and

feel very comfortable against lefties.

So Skip Schumaker, bringing him into a situation

where you had to face three righties in

a row.

Not necessarily my most favorite decision.

Now, I mean, are there worse?

Sure.

Yes, there are worse decisions, no doubt.

But Robert Garcia finds a way to get

out of it.

He gets the double play ball after giving

up the home run.

To me, I am just constantly advocating.

Just put him in good positions.

Put him in good positions, man.

There's no reason to make him this catch

all guy.

Put him in spots where he's going to

succeed, and in my humble opinion, that is

against lefties.

Wish they'd figure it out.

Swolger liked the comment.

It says deGrom wanted to stay.

Now it's time for him to show up.

Amen.

It is most certainly time for him to

show up.

You have got to figure out a way,

have to figure out a way to get

into the playoffs at this point.

There's no excuses.

There's no zero excuses.

You're in first place.

You've got your best pitcher on the mound

tomorrow.

Cal Quantrill, we can worry about that.

What does it mean?

What are the chances?

Have to shelve that for now.

You just have to find a way to

get in.

I told you guys, I didn't know if

it was going to make a ton of

sense, but I felt confident, felt very confident

that you would have an opportunity.

And I said, it definitely is up in

the air, but I just think the Rangers,

for whatever reason, are going to find a

way into October.

I have not been proven right yet, but

I do think that the Rangers seem to

have figured something out here.

And I don't think there's a whole lot

of analysis to be made into the winning

streak, why things are the way they are.

I think the team has found a bit

of a click.

I'll knock on wood for them, but they're

just playing with a little bit of a

different energy.

And it's an energy that is reminiscent of

2023.

I don't think these are the same teams.

I think the 2023 team, when you really

say it out loud, you had two guys

that finished top three in the MVP.

I mean, you had Corey Seager and Marcus

Simeon behind Shohei Ohtani in the MVP voting.

You don't have two MVP candidates on this

team.

The 2023 team is distinctly different from this

team, but the vibes are similar.

The vibes are similar.

It feels like this team has resolved.

And when they go down or when they

meet a little bit of adversity, at least

over the last week, week and a half

of baseball, you've just felt more hopeful with

this team than you have all season long.

That's where I'm at.

And Josh Jung is a huge part of

that.

I see some of you are talking about

Josh Casey.

What's good, man?

Josh, he came back and the Rangers are

now, I believe, six and one since Josh

Jung came back.

JN, you're saying the same thing.

They are six and one since Josh Jung

returned.

They've won two games against Arizona.

They won two games in the last set.

And now you win two games against the

Blue Jays.

You lose the one heartbreaker.

They are six and one.

I mean, I guess you could make the

argument they're six and one since Eovaldi came

back.

And I think you have to give Eovaldi

some love too, don't you?

He has been very, very good.

Very good.

I am very much encouraged by the different

series that the Rangers have had over the

past week.

You definitely have not seen perfection.

And I think we've been pretty upfront with

that.

You definitely would like to see a little

bit more out of the bats, no doubt.

Rangers benefited from some bad defense today.

They benefited from some shoddy pitching today.

You'd love to see the offense be slightly

more in sync.

But the reality is you're in first place.

Austin, totally hear you.

I know there's some people that are still

not convinced about the team's offense.

I would just say, if you're not going

to be happy with a game like this

and a result like this, I'm not sure

beyond a World Series victory, what's going to

do it for you.

I think this is a night to enjoy.

You're not going to hear me cracking down

on a lot of things this evening.

We're in first place.

I don't think that that's the right tone

read on the evening.

And by the way, Austin, not getting on

you, man.

There's plenty of people I think that have

valid concerns about the offense, myself included.

But I don't want to turn this into

a negative session, man.

There's a lot to be positive about, a

lot to be thankful for.

Are they winning the World Series?

Who knows?

Who knows?

I don't think we need to worry about

that.

I don't even think we need to worry

about how confident we are in this team

yet.

Were you confident they were going to be

in first place last week?

And I'm talking to everybody here, not just

Austin, right?

Were you confident they were going to be

in first place Saturday night, September 19th?

I would probably say no.

I wasn't.

I wasn't.

So for me, I'm going to enjoy this

game and I am going to bask in

the glory of being over the Astros for

at least one night.

At least one night.

And we definitely will have some things to

break down and analyze as the show goes

on.

You know we'll get into it.

But over 500 in first place.

Can't ask for a whole lot more.

Appreciate the gift, real estate agent.

Thank you so much.

I don't think they ever did put Joc

on the ILJN.

Comment from TikTok here.

Go Rangers.

Yes, sir.

Rangers, Brian says, just need to keep on

keeping on one game at a time.

They want it.

That's the mantra.

One game at a time right now.

Let's see what else we got.

Seagate.

Yeah, look, we we've got that mentality locked

right now in the next one.

And I am 100% down for a

wild ride to the World Series if they

want to take us on one.

But I'm going to take these gifts as

they come.

And right now, Texas, giving us first place.

Season ended today.

You're in the playoffs.

Everybody that was was so pushing back on

anyone being negative is probably taking some victory

laps right now.

Anybody that was constantly clapping back at the

negative accounts out there.

And this this is your turn to dunk

on some people, I guess.

I mean, to be fair, there are some

people if you utter even the slightest negative

criticism, you're going to get some crap.

But I know there's many people that consider

my account to be overly negative.

But the reality is for much of this

season, the Rangers have been a losing team.

And tonight, you can't say that, can you?

They are a winning ball club.

And we have to enjoy this evening.

Dr. Mark, I'm with you.

Thank you, Ronald Acuña.

Thank you.

Might have just become a big time fan,

especially if he goes off tomorrow as well.

Good stuff.

That Ronald Acuña, Matt, that got me so

hyped when I saw him hit the Grand

Slam.

That got me so hyped, man.

I have to say, when he hit that

home run, I just thought to myself, this

is the magic, right?

Like, this is the magic.

You had Montgomery come in, has to do

his whole warm up session out there on

the mound.

He throws up a bunch of zeros.

The Rangers have Cal Quantrill, their best starting

pitcher this year go down and they still

find a way to win.

This is October type magic, man.

And I said it as much, I posted

a couple of different times.

That's how you know, this is how you

know moments like this, that it's meant to

be.

I feel that way.

Now, is anything guaranteed?

Absolutely not.

But I'm just saying, these are the moments

you look back on, magical, man.

Montgomery comes in, 2023 legend that he is,

has to warm up entirely on the field

and you have him throw up a bunch

of zeros.

Montgomery tonight, he goes three and two thirds,

gave up one base runner.

One.

That's insane for a guy that had a

five plus ERA for most of this season.

That is insane.

But those are the kinds of performances you

need to have a special ending to your

season.

You have Eovaldi come in.

Yes, he gave up a run, but nevertheless,

he got us onto the next one.

So Silseth came in, made it a little

interesting, got us onto the next one.

Latsy slams the door.

Not a save situation, but still Richard, not

six in a row with the loss on

Thursday, right?

But I mean, they've won six of their

last seven, six of their last seven, man.

Special.

I keep saying that.

I keep saying that Matt says, where is

this level of play been all season?

YouTube comment here.

Yeah.

This level of play has not been consistent.

It has been up and down.

They have shown it at times, but they

have not shown it a ton.

This level of play has not been very

consistent.

You have a really good opportunity here though,

with seven games left to give us the

best week of baseball we've seen in 2026.

They appear to be hitting their stride at

just the right time.

And that is all you could ask for

a man.

It's all you can ask for comment from

TikTok.

Your injuries have kept them inconsistent ish.

I don't know if I'm all in on

that, Jay.

I appreciate the comment.

My guy, I don't know if I'm all

in on the injuries have kept them inconsistent.

Maybe Josh Jung.

It'd be interesting to see what would have

happened with the rest of the season.

If Josh Jung had not gotten hurt for

a month and a half, that to me,

it would have been an interesting thing to

go back in time and see the Rangers

still offensively, just not quite hitting their stride.

They got it done today though.

They scored just enough scored just enough.

And you know who I'm thinking about more

than anybody else?

Really?

I'm still thinking about that Trevor Williams outing

last night.

I don't know if any of you had

that thought during the game today.

I'm still thinking about Trevor Williams and what

that man did last night, throwing you for

scoreless dominating and essentially saving the entire bullpen

for today's game.

I think about how perfectly that worked out

considering what happened with Cal Q and you

didn't know Cal Q was going to go

down in inning two, but how valuable is

what you got from Trevor Williams who the

Rangers brought on board?

What less than a month ago, wild.

It all worked out, man.

I guess skip has a crystal ball after

all, man.

Yes, they have got a crystal ball after

all, because you sure needed a healthy bullpen

for tonight's game.

You absolutely did.

Uh, Nate says YouTube comment.

I hope Nicky is okay as well.

Say, man, he has been so invaluable and

he did more work out there.

They were, they're intentionally walking Nicky Lopez at

this point, intentionally walking the man.

He's nearly getting the Barry Bonds treatment out

there and rightfully so Nicky Lopez, man, if

they do not re-sign them, I posted this

earlier.

If they do not re-sign Nicky Lopez, we

riot, we get the pitchforks, we get the

fire, we get the torches and we riot

outside of Globe Life.

We have got to get Nicky Lopez back

at a Rangers uniform next year.

Come on now.

He can play multiple positions.

He gives you quality ABs.

He can bunt.

He gets on base.

He's striking fear into the hearts of opposing

teams and pitchers.

They're intentionally walking this guy.

Come on now.

Love it.

Greg, what's good.

Evo and Monty tonight.

These guys are inspirational.

Skip had got nothing to do with it.

Uh, you know, skip, I think he definitely

has had his ups and downs skip.

Uh, the interesting, most interesting decision for, from

skip tonight, probably for me was the Evan

Carter, not bunting or not taking him out.

I know that Evan Carter didn't do great

in his first bunt attempt, but, and I

don't really understand.

There was a runner on second, nobody out.

We know Evan Carter can't hit worth a

lick this year.

And that is accurate.

I didn't understand why you're not going back

to him a second time there.

We get it.

It didn't look great the first time around,

man.

I did not understand letting him swing away

after you had the lead off double in

front of him.

If he can't bunt legitimately, there is not

a great reason to play him in center

field.

I get the defense is great.

He can still be a defensive replacement, a

defensive substitution.

The back to me, you have to at

least be able to bunt man.

If you can't do that, we're in trouble.

We're in big trouble.

You got to at least be able to

do that much.

Uh, I know by the way, a lot

of you guys are, uh, are hitting me

up about Texas right now, Texas playing UTSA.

They are up 23 to six at the

moment.

Yeah.

Not the game.

You really wanted to see going into Knoxville

next week.

I will be doing a show later on.

I don't know if I'm going to do

a live show.

I'm definitely going to record a Longhorns

pod though one way or the other at

minimum, but not going to do one right

after the game.

Didn't really expect this game to be that

close.

If I'm being honest, I mean, look, the

Longhorns are up by three possessions.

I understand.

We'd like to see things a lot crisper,

but at the end of the day, I

think Texas is going to get this wind.

No, no problem.

No issue.

But yeah, arch not looking the sharpest defense

playing well, but the offense just not looking

sharp.

And I have to say, and we'll get

back to Rangers in a second here for

all of the hype that Sark gets, you

know, offensively.

And this is not going to be me

saying, you know, get rid of Sark or

anything like that, but it's just odd to

me.

I'll say that I don't want to go

too far with this conclusion, but it's just

odd to me that you've got this much.

I don't know.

Unrefined at this point with some of the

continuity with arch, with some of the big

names that they have offensively.

You just like to see it sharper.

That's all.

I'm not saying get rid of Sark.

He's terrible.

He sucks.

I know some Longhorns fans are on that

page, but it's just odd to me that

it continues to kind of be inconsistent up

and down.

Not totally sharp from game to game.

We'll talk more Longhorns.

I don't know.

Maybe I'll do a live.

It'll be late y'all.

If you're up late, you want to talk

football.

Maybe I'll think about it either way.

At minimum, I'll do a pod and I'll

post that pod early tomorrow morning so we

can get all of the Longhorns talk all

of the Longhorns points to after today.

We'll get it out there for you guys

one way or the other.

UTSA has won two games, but I'm not

trying to gas up UTSA.

No disrespect to them, but I'm not going

to sit here and pretend like, hey, this

is actually a really good opponent.

It's just not what I want to do.

Back to Rangers.

All right, back to Rangers.

I want to keep this focused.

I decided this year, last year, I would

do the split pods, but I decided this

year, man, I wanted just to try and

keep it a little bit focused from pod

to pod.

I'm doing a lot more cutting individual clips

from each one of my shows, and I

wanted to try and keep it a little

more separate.

Plus, I know some people, not Longhorns fans,

but Rangers fans and vice versa, so just

a little bit of the insight if you're

wondering what happened to the hybrid shows.

Decided to kind of go a little bit

more separate this year, depending on what's going

on.

That being said, we don't have a lot.

We don't have a lot more Saturdays, I

should say, where we're going to have to

worry about it.

Hopefully into November, though, that'd be great.

Into October, wouldn't mind that at all.

Let's keep rolling.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

Everybody hanging out on Instagram.

What's good?

Drop a comment, drop a question.

JSDentRepair says, deGrom has to be lights out

tomorrow and the offense be the same.

I have to agree.

We are heaping the pressure on Jacob deGrom

right now.

deGrom has got to be that dude for

you.

Has to be.

Absolutely has to be.

No excuses for Jacob.

You have a failure tomorrow.

It's massive.

It's massive.

Got to have prime vintage Jacob deGrom.

Going six, going seven strong, and the offense

has to give some margin.

Five hits tonight.

You took advantage.

You got the job done, but you've had

Ezequiel Duran having a little bit of a

tough time up at the dish.

Duran right now, just to throw the numbers

at you, hitting .190 over his last 15

games.

That is not ideal.

Duran fading a little bit here and not

at the greatest of times.

Corey Seager, one for four on the night,

had that base hit up the middle.

Corey Seager, he has been a rock for

the offense, man.

345 over his last seven games, hitting 300

nearly over his last 30 games.

Corey's been solid.

Josh Jung, we already know about.

Brandon Nimmo, he did have a hit tonight.

Nimmo hitting .169 over his last 15 games.

So you've got two guys that have been

middle of the order, slumping a little bit

right now.

I do agree with what Gerald is saying

here.

YouTube comment, Duran has done a lot for

us, needs someone to pick him up now.

Yes.

I'm not going to go in hard on

Ezequiel Duran.

He has been everything and all things for

this team.

So you're not going to catch a lot

of Duran criticism from me.

I'll tell you the numbers and they're not

great over his last couple of weeks of

baseball here.

I mean, you're batting below the Mendoza line

at this point over your last 15, but

Zeke's just been so valuable the entire season.

It is going to be hard for me

to go in on him.

But as we go up and down the

rest of the lineup, so you've got Zeke

and you've got Nimmo under 200 in their

last 15 games.

Wyatt Langford, huge hit tonight, but he's under

200.

Wyatt Langford, .188 in his last 15 games.

Man, do I hope that that double over

the left fielder's head tonight leads to something

special.

I really hope we got our 30-30

slugger back.

He is a game changer for this lineup.

Just makes everything look better.

I'm 1000% cheering for him to get

back on track.

It would be phenomenal if his heater can

coincide with this last week of the season

and into October.

Wyatt Langford with a great display of athleticism

as well.

You had an Evan Carter shallow fly ball

to center field, being a little aggressive, which

I liked sending Wyatt.

He leaps over the catcher, overshoots home plate,

and scrambles back and is able to get

in there safely.

That was an awesome play.

And look, Wyatt immediately before that had doubled

in a run.

That's good stuff.

You'd love to see this version of Wyatt

show up over the next three, four weeks.

Wyatt definitely has been on base more the

last two games.

Comment from YouTube there.

Appreciate you.

You've definitely seen him getting walks, taking walks.

That's huge.

If you're not able to get on base

via the hit, at least you're doing that

and using the speed.

Let's keep rolling.

Gerald, I agree with you.

I got the game, by the way.

I'm watching the Texas game in the background

here.

Yeah.

Our arch is having trouble.

He did drop a dime to Cam Coleman

in the back of the end zone on

that teddy, but yeah, he's having a tough

time with the wide open ones.

He is having a bit of a tough

time tonight with that.

Let's keep on rolling.

Hey, Victoria, thank you so much for the

rose.

I appreciate it.

Thank you very much.

All right.

What do we got here?

Let's check it out.

Tonight, he had a lot to discuss.

Thought the game was going to go a

little bit sideways when Cal Q exits with

the right lat tightness.

Instead, after one and a third innings, you

have Jordan Montgomery come in and man, did

he do a job.

Jordan Montgomery was phenomenal tonight.

We've already talked about money.

He was outstanding.

Outstanding.

You have another guy.

You had Nathan of all the going in

this middle relief role.

You had Cody Bradford, you had Trevor Williams,

and now you have Jordan Montgomery, right?

Uh, Williams went four innings last night.

Cody Bradford went four and a third the

other night.

Nathan of all the went four innings a

few nights back.

And then you get this additional outing from

Jordan Montgomery tonight.

This is a ridiculous long relief run that

the Rangers are on right now.

Ridiculous.

A lot of credit needs to go to

some of those guys out in the pen,

especially Trevor Williams, who really set things up

nicely for this evening.

And then Jordan Montgomery follows it up.

I did not know that this game was

going to go as well as it did.

I'm not even going to lie to you

guys.

Just did not feel like it was going

in a positive direction, but that is the

mark of a team that's ready for October.

They have adversity strike and you figure out

a way to win.

Anyways, you overcome it.

That's what Texas did tonight.

And that I think does have to give

you, we're talking about confidence levels with this

team that has to give you at least

a little bit of confidence for the rest

of the season and potentially into October into

the playoffs.

You had a pretty bad scenario tonight unfold.

Almost a worst case scenario with Cal Q

going down.

He's been your best pitcher, even better than

deGrom all season long.

And you still find a way to win

anyways.

Jordan freaking Montgomery, baby.

And that is where I agree with what

Matt's saying here on YouTube.

It is a good decision by Skip.

You have, I know some people that aren't

the biggest Skip Schumaker fans.

Maybe you could argue he didn't have a

choice.

I don't know.

You could have gone some different directions.

I do think going right away to Monty

there was huge.

I think Skip has had an uneven season

with his decision-making, but I will say

you got to give him some credit for

how he managed along with Jordan Tiegs, managed

the bullpen tonight.

It was great.

Cam Cauley just doubled, by the way, in

the bottom of the eighth to runner score.

If you didn't catch it, they promoted Sebastian

Walcott to AAA, by the way.

Walcott joining Round Rock after the Frisco season

comes to a close.

And we'll go to the Round Rock game

right now.

You have Cam Cauley, like I said, driving

in a run already.

Walcott is up to bat right now.

We might get this game on.

I might put this game on and check

out Walcott batting.

Feels like a good decision.

Feels like the right call here.

Let's see if Walcott can go deep or

something.

All right.

We got that on the background.

I'll keep you posted.

Leiter or Macko in case deGrom can't go

six.

Is Jack Leiter back?

Leiter, help me out.

Is he supposed to be back?

I didn't even think he was throwing yet.

How is the Round Rock game going?

It is six to two.

And I believe Walcott, he just broke a

bat.

He's DH-ing tonight.

Walcott, by the way, is one for four.

And I believe that was a single.

One for four with a single.

Leiter, at last I heard, was not throwing.

But maybe that's changed.

I don't know if I got an update

before the show today.

But I did not really think Leiter was

going to be a guy the Rangers were

counting on moving forward.

I'll go to my injury report.

Yeah, don't have anything on Leiter.

Nothing on Leiter.

Oh, Tanyas, man, that was a short stint

with the majors, wasn't it?

Got sick the day after he gets called

up.

Goes on the IL.

Short little stint for Otañez.

Hope he gets better soon, man.

Really do.

Hope he finds a way.

All right, Walcott, up to bat right now.

Cam Cauley on second base.

It's a two-one count.

Gracefully forgiven.

Our division has been so garbage this year,

waiting for my M's to be knocked out.

Appreciate you, man.

Thanks for hanging out.

Yeah, you're feeling like we were, Rangers fans

were, for the past couple of years.

Like, can you end us?

Can you end the misery?

Put us out of our misery, please.

I think that's how a lot of Rangers

fans were feeling the last two years.

Even some this year.

Walcott is going to take a walk here.

So Round Rock has first and second two

outs.

And you are going to see Michael Helman.

Mike Helman, by the way, is three for

four tonight.

He is rehabbing.

I don't know if the Rangers have a

plan to bring up Mike Helman, but Mike

Hellman is rehabbing.

And he is having a pretty good night

tonight at the ballpark.

Looks like he has a double and two

singles.

Double and two singles tonight.

And there you go.

Yep, we got by the way, I know

we got some some horns fans hanging out

in the chat.

I will be doing a show later on

tonight.

I'm not sure if I'll go live or

if I'll do recorded.

If you guys if I get enough people

telling me that that you want to hang,

I'll definitely do a live.

But if it's late night, I just kind

of figured out most people probably moved on

at that point.

But the next day, you know, you check

out the pod, you check out some of

the clips I post from it, you call

it good, but we would have to do

a little bit later.

I'm going to go and do dinner and

hang out with the fam a little bit.

And then I'll get back into the content

stuff a little bit later on in the

evening.

But yeah, not looking sharp.

I posted a video today.

And I basically said, you'd love to just

see some things get cleaned up from the

Ohio State game before you go to Tennessee

before you go to Knoxville.

I mean, the good news is in this

UTSA game, I would talk some people off

the ledge, the defense has given up 100

total yards of offense.

And the offense for Texas does not look

super sharp to me.

But the defense is on point.

Double steal here, by the way, you have

Walcott and Cauley executing it.

Cauley steals third Walcott steals second.

How about that?

This is the dream.

I don't know if you've been on the

show if you've been on the lives when

I've talked about this, but Cam Cauley and

Sebastian Walcott to me, that is the dream

pairing up the middle.

I know that they've got Zeke.

I'd like Zeke to probably go play some

third base Walcott playing short Seager DHing eventually.

I've talked about so much like I can't

wait for this team to get a little

younger, get a little more athletic.

And you're basically seeing the future right there.

Sebastian Walcott and Cam Cauley executing a double

steal.

Give me more of that, please.

Please.

Mike Helman up to bat right now.

He takes a ball for.

Looks like actually, let me see.

Let me go ahead to go on forward.

Looks like he is going to pop this

one up, unfortunately.

All right.

Round Rock still up six to two.

We'll update you if anybody else of note

comes into the game or makes an appearance.

For now, we keep on going and we

have got much more to talk about with

this Rangers 6-2 victory over the Blue

Jays.

Let's go back to the game.

Let's go back to some of the big

performances.

We've talked about Josh Jung leads off the

game, not technically speaking, but basically starts off

Texas with that home run, immediately giving some

margin.

That was just so huge.

Bottom of the first inning, you got a

couple down and then Jung goes oppo taco.

Just set a great tone, I thought, for

the rest of the game.

And sure enough, Josh Jung now on the

season hitting .298 with an .817 OPS.

He's been so good.

And the Rangers, they would be in trouble

without him.

I know I've given Jungster, I know I've

given the Jungle Cat some crap with the

glove, especially, but I've definitely given the man

his flowers when it comes to the stick.

He has figured out something in a major

way this year.

You think about 24, yes, he dealt with

some injuries.

You think about 25, he had some pretty

major slumps and some injuries.

This year, a click has been figured out.

And Josh is one of the best hitters

in the American League, and I would say

in all the baseball right now.

You love to see it, really do.

Cheering for him, hoping that he gets to

do this in October.

Who could have predicted, comment here from YouTube,

who could have predicted that Monty and Eovaldi

would be pitching out of the pen to

get us into first place?

I know, it is so ridiculous.

I mean, we said it.

Who would have thought?

I didn't feel confident this team was going

to be in first place on September 19th.

You would have told me a week ago

we're going to be in first place.

I mean, I don't want to pretend like

it was an impossible feat, but nevertheless, you

just didn't feel awesome with all the back

and forth that the Rangers have been doing

over the last 155 games.

It has been so up and down, Jekyll

and Hyde, insert whatever metaphor or figure of

speech you need to.

There wasn't a lot of evidence that Texas

was going to do something like this.

You always have faith.

You always have blind hope.

And that's the beautiful thing about baseball fans

and baseball in general.

But yeah, I have to agree.

I'm not putting money on it.

Like, I always bet the Rangers to win

the World Series at the beginning of every

year, but I wouldn't have put money on

them making a first place run with some

of the low lows that they have experienced

over the course of this season.

Jay says, I thought they were stretching Evo

out to join the rotation again.

I think that that is the plan, but

obviously you had a dire situation tonight and

I think they adjusted.

Jared texted, he tweeted out that he thinks

Evo probably went to skip.

I don't know if that got confirmed by

the way, but Jared mused that Evo probably

went to skip and said, hey, I'm available,

throw me.

Which is awesome.

Evo's a dog.

We already knew that.

But I do think the plan is going

to have to be to get Eovaldi back

into the starting rotation, even if he can

only give you five innings or so.

I think you've got to figure out a

way to get that guy back.

You do not know what Cal Q status

is.

If Cal Q is out, you need Eovaldi

back in the mix.

You really do.

Absolutely.

Let's keep on rolling.

Yeah, this is a good point about Eovaldi

again.

TikTok comment here.

I think he has to join the rotation

in the postseason.

There's no one you trust more.

I think deGrom has had some good runs

in the postseason, even with the Mets.

I know we don't think Mets postseason a

lot.

You probably don't think Rangers postseason a lot

if we're just being real, but deGrom actually

has performed well in October.

So there's that.

But I would agree that Eovaldi is the

guy that I probably at this point, just

with the track record, if Cal Q is

out, he's the guy I trust the most.

Rob says from YouTube here, I think they

finished him first.

Hopefully they can go far into the playoffs.

I'm just enjoying this stretch.

I still have my theories and unless they

prove me wrong, I'm just enjoying.

Yep.

Day at a time, enjoying the wins, enjoying

this nice positive run that they're on.

Who knows how long it's going to last,

but you enjoy it.

You have fun with it.

I think that is 1000% the place

to be.

Matt says YouTube here, it's been floated out

that we could get into the second seed

and get a buy.

That is wild.

That could happen.

You're going to have to have Cleveland dropping

some games.

And right now, as you look at the

standings, which we'll do, we'll kind of give

you a little bit of an update here.

As you look at the standings, you've got

Cleveland at 80 and 75.

Cleveland is streaking right now.

They have won four in a row, seven

of their last 10.

The Rangers are 78 and 77.

So you're two games behind Cleveland.

Rangers do have the tiebreaker over Cleveland.

So if the two teams finished with the

same record and they were both division leaders,

Rangers would get the two seed.

That is helpful.

And so it is a very, very possible

outcome that the Rangers may still host a

division series and skip the wild card round

altogether.

Home field advantage would be so huge.

It would be so incredible.

And look, the fact that even if they

don't get this to the two seed, they

will have a wild card series hosted at

Globe Life.

If you are the number three division winner,

you get to host the three game wild

card set.

That's big.

So I'm definitely not at all saying, hey,

we don't need that two seed.

But if you win the division, you're hosting

a playoff series.

And so that's huge for a team that's

been so much better at home than on

the road.

So much better.

It's big.

So even if they only make the wild

card round, I still feel pretty good about

their chances hosting a three game set.

First one to two games wins, just like

it was when we were in Tampa Bay

in 2023.

I feel good about it.

I really do.

Let's keep rolling.

It's been a great show so far.

Always love talking when we're discussing victories.

I mean, we're here rain or shine.

You guys know this, but I always love

talking about the wins a whole lot more.

Even if sometimes there's a little bit more

eyes and ears on the negativity, you guys

will be shocked to see like when, when

the Rangers lose and it's like a bad

loss, like what was that on Thursday night?

Like the Thursday night lost the next morning

at like the most podcast downloads I've ever

had.

It's too bad.

Sometimes, you know, the negative stuff does get

more attention.

Yeah.

I've never had more downloads of my podcast

than what I got after the Rangers dropped

that heartbreaker on Thursday night.

It is what it is.

Hopefully there'll be some people excited about some

postseason baseball and we can top that

record.

I would much rather a big victory, have

more downloads than a crushing defeat, but such

is life.

It's how the world works.

Sometimes Rangers have control.

Now comment on TikTok here.

This is it feels good to have control

over your own destiny.

I'm a hundred percent with you on that.

100% with you comment question actually from

Jay here on TikTok.

What do I think the postseason rotation

looks like?

Well, Jay, it gets a little bit interesting

because right now the Rangers are setting this

up for Jacob deGrom in game 162.

If they clinch, you can postpone Jacob deGrom

to the playoff series, whichever series you're in,

whether it's a divisional series because you're the

two-seed, whether it's hosting a Wild Card series

at home.

You definitely have deGrom though lined up right

now to be the guy if the season

comes down to game 162.

And that's a good place to be.

That's if you just had your pick of

whoever you want and you can line it

up however you want.

I think game one is going to be

deGrom.

I think game two, if Evo is healthy,

they'll probably go Evo game two.

And then you go Cal Q game three.

I think that is how they'll line it

up.

I don't know what they're going to do

with the Eovaldi and they keep having bad

luck like tonight where you kind of have

to get Eovaldi off of the schedule.

If they were building him up, maybe you

can argue today would have been a bullpen

session or a side session of some kind.

I do think that is legitimate, but I

think if everything is perfect and everybody's healthy,

you probably go deGrom, Evo, Cal Q, one,

two, three.

If they are not able to line it

up, you got to be flexible.

Here we go.

Casey says, YouTube here, if Quantrill is healthy,

top three of the rotation would be dope,

but if he's hurt, we might need Gore.

Yeah, get the antacids, get the Pepto out

for that, baby.

If we don't have Cal Q game three

and game four, if we're in a divisional

round, obviously it only goes to game three

if you're in the wild card round, but

let's say you're in the divisional round and

you don't sweep three-oh.

That would actually be the dream scenario for

the Rangers.

If you've got Quantrill, deGrom, and Evo, can

we just sweep three-oh in the divisional

round and not have to deal with game

four?

Throw in MacKenzie Gore and throw in Kumar

Rocker.

God bless both of them.

I'm rooting for them, but I think we

can all be real.

It's been extremely up and down with those

two pitchers.

Very much up and down.

I think if you're a Rangers fan and

the Rangers are in the divisional round and

it's a five-game series, you are praying

hard for a Rangers three-oh sweep.

Can we just sweep with deGrom, Evo, and

Cal Q?

Please and thank you.

I really want to believe that Mackenzie and

Kumar are going to flip a switch in

October and just be these lights out, swing

and miss guys that they can be.

1,000% can be.

I just don't have a lot of confidence

in it.

It's like we said a week ago, you're

thinking about, is this team going to make

the playoffs?

I definitely don't know that there was a

lot of evidence for you to soundly say

yes.

I feel the same way about Gore and

Rocker.

I don't think there's a lot of evidence

to suggest that they are going to crush

it in October, but it's weird, man.

Daniel, you might have a point.

Facebook comment here, those guys are John Gray

of 23, Monty takes the four spot.

Yeah, you might have those guys as your

big-time bullpen options.

You remember John Gray in 23?

He had some very good outings out of

the pen.

That could be interesting.

I don't know that I love either one

of those guys as pen guys, just because

they do have the ability to get wild.

They don't always throw strikes, and that is

a big no-no when it comes to

October baseball.

But if those guys could be big-time

swing and miss, get you some big strikeouts

and big moments come October, that's the dream.

Jordan Montgomery may have solidified himself though as

the number four guy.

Daniel, I think you have a point there.

I do think what Montgomery showed you tonight,

and plus the credibility that he has with

the organization and what he did for the

org in '23, it wouldn't shock me at all.

And maybe it's knee-jerk, maybe it's prisoner

of the moment, but Jordan Montgomery, with what

he gave you tonight coming into this game,

give you the stat line one more time,

three and two thirds, one walk.

He allowed one base runner in nearly four

innings.

He wasn't getting a lot of swing and

miss, but there was some soft contact.

A couple of baseballs got hit hard, but

I just think he is absolutely inserting himself

into the conversation.

Game four starter if you need it.

A couple other comments here.

We've got one from YouTube here.

I'm worried for the series in Target.

Yeah, Minnesota, last weekend, last three games.

You're in the friendly confines right now.

I know that's Wrigley, but you're in the

friendly confines of Globe Life.

And I definitely am worried when the Rangers

go on the road.

You hope that they build up enough margin

where you don't have to worry too much.

They've still got one more game and then

they've got three more against the Mets.

If you can win tomorrow and sweep the

Mets, I know I'm making this sound easy,

right?

When tomorrow sweep the Mets, just go on

a six game win streak.

Like it's nothing.

Come on now.

If they can do that though, maybe Houston

gets beat up a little bit and you

go into that Minnesota series, maybe only needing

to win one game.

We know how that went in Seattle in

2023.

I mean, it all worked out in the

end, but that didn't necessarily go great with

an opportunity to clinch the division in Seattle.

Nevertheless, we know how things ended in early

November in 2023.

That being said, you would love to have

a similar opportunity though.

Just like in 23, the Rangers, they had

to win two games out of four to

clinch.

Just to leave no doubt, right?

They were only able to win one, but

they were able to clinch a playoff spot.

That's the opportunity that I would love for

the Rangers to have in the final weekend.

Win one game and you clinch.

You don't have to sweep.

You don't have to even win two out

of three.

In fact, maybe you win the Friday night

game and you get to rest everybody Saturday,

Sunday, you get to party Friday night in

Minnesota.

I'm just manifesting this by the way, right

now, if you can't tell, I'm going to

go ahead and just speak this into existence

for all you guys, sweep the Mets, finish

off the blue Jays tomorrow, win Friday night

in Minnesota, party hard, and go ahead and

take Saturday and Sunday where you're resting and

you're getting ready, maybe to have even more

time off hosting a divisional series in Arlington.

How quickly the tables turn in the game

of baseball.

Am I right?

The fact that we're talking about this right

now, it's hard to believe this kind of

stuff is coming out of my mouth.

I am going to knock on wood in

a major way, man.

I do not want to see anything go

sideways here.

You're still kind of holding your breath.

You're taking it a game at a time,

but man, this is fun.

This is what we have all been waiting

for.

Speaking of fun, Texas finally gets on the

board with the touchdown.

Mr. Brown, Relique Brown, taking it into the

end zone.

There you go.

30-6 now, Texas.

It's an easy game to be nitpicky about.

That wasn't Brown, excuse me.

Was that Cooper?

Who was that?

Yeah, I know they're trying out some different

guys right now.

All right.

Let's see if the margin can increase a

little bit.

Nine minutes left in this game.

All right, y'all.

Let's land this thing.

We have almost, let's see, 57 minutes of

show behind us.

Let's see if we can land this thing

and head into the rest of our Saturday

night.

Go enjoy some football the rest of the

way.

Then, like I said, I'll probably get on

later and do either a show or I'll

do a podcast of some kind and I'll

post it later tonight.

We'll see what we decide to go with.

Colin Simmons reportedly has a boot on.

Geez, not good.

Hope that's precautionary.

Really hope that's precautionary.

All right.

The rest of the way.

Let's go through some of the big takeaways

from this ball game.

I like to do this at the end

of every show as we finish up.

Tomorrow, by the way, deGrom Toronto has not

announced, but a lot of people are thinking

it's going to be Yesavage.

Definitely a quality arm out there.

We'll see what Toronto decides to go with.

deGrom tomorrow, 11-9, 3.79 ERA, 194 strikeouts.

deGrom has definitely pitched well of late.

I know he had the big time hiccup

in Chicago.

That was unfortunate, but deGrom has been really,

really good of late.

I think you have to feel confident with

his ability to go out tomorrow and get

a sweep for the Rangers.

This would be so huge.

Right now, again, start time 1:35.

deGrom in his last three games, he has

allowed four earned runs in 17 innings pitched.

It's pretty good.

3.53 ERA over his last seven games total.

He is coming off an outing against Boston

where he allowed two earned runs in five

innings, struck out eight.

Before that was Seattle 12 strikeouts, six innings,

one hit.

deGrom feeling himself a little bit right now.

Feeling good about deGrom's chances tomorrow.

Toronto, they are 76-79 now.

They're technically hanging around the wild card race,

but you wonder what this is going to

do to their psyche.

You really do.

I'm not sure how the mental fortitude is

holding up for the Jays, but they can

definitely win a ball game.

You just hope that deGrom has the ace

stuff and the Rangers can figure out a

way to keep on producing and putting pressure

on defenses offensively.

Now, I would say this.

deGrom's biggest thing that I'm watching for tomorrow,

can you give a little bit of length,

man?

At this point, you have deGrom really only

going five or six innings.

deGrom, to me, needs to give you at

least six, if not seven, especially after how

the bullpen was used tonight.

You do not want to see deGrom give

you a four or five inning, especially with

how many arms you had to use today.

That would be huge.

I think you have to be careful.

Springer, Guerrero, they've been a little quiet in

this series.

I'll be watching out for those two guys

as I look at the makeup for tomorrow.

deGrom against the Blue Jays, always like to

kind of roll through the numbers here.

We won't go through the whole lineup, but

I'll point out some notables.

You have, it looks like, very few guys

with actual ABs.

Guerrero is three for eight against deGrom.

Guerrero, kind of a guy to circle.

Everybody else, very much mixed bag.

Most guys, either 0 for 4 or 1

for 4.

All right.

Look, Phillip, what's good?

Good to see you.

Anything in this season is possible.

Agree with you.

Houston Analyst says the Rangers can win the

division as early as Thursday.

Oh, gosh.

I mean, I guess, but that's glooming and

dooming, right?

That's like Houston losing and us winning.

The magic number, let's see, is seven.

Magic number is seven right now.

So, I mean, even if you won the

next three and you had Houston losing the

next three, that would put you at one.

So I guess Thursday technically could be a

clinch day, but I think that it's probably

going to come down to Saturday or Sunday.

I don't think that this is going to

get wrapped up.

You'd have to have Houston taking a massive

dump for that to be true.

I just don't think that's going to happen.

That's just me, though.

All right.

As I said, final takeaways.

Tonight told me Texas, they are getting remarkably

good, especially over the last couple of weeks

here.

It's surviving some pitching chaos.

And the offense, although they only had five

hits, I think they're doing a better job

of at least putting pressure on defenses, putting

pressure on opposing pitchers.

You're taking walks.

You're putting the ball in play.

Is it sexy?

Is it out of this world?

Highlight real amazing?

No, but it's doing its job.

And that, I think, is something that you

have to be at least mildly satisfied with

at minimum.

I'm satisfied with it.

I'm enjoying it.

I think the Rangers, while they haven't been

hitting home runs out of the park left

and right, you watch them have some really

quality ABs, make pitchers work, stuff that you

wish they were doing all season long.

Definitely a little unsure about, you know, the

pitching staff with the Quantrill injury.

You hope everything's OK.

I just don't know how long this is

going to be able to stand up if

you have all of these injuries mounting.

And it feels like somebody's getting injured like

every other game at this point.

It might come to a spot, might come

to a where it's really hard to get

over and to overcome these kinds of things.

You hope the good news comes out with

Quantrill tomorrow.

You hope the bullpen can get a breather.

You know that's what deGrom has in his

mind.

I got to give this bullpen a breather.

Give the pen a game where it doesn't

have to invent nine innings or invent even

four or five innings.

Tomorrow, if there's a game where you could

get seven frames from deGrom, maybe even eight,

that is the name of the game for

sure.

Just like getting on base, like Casey said

in this YouTube comment here.

That would be phenomenal.

You hope that it can happen.

deGrom not very consistent in that department, but

I think it is time.

I think it is time to shine.

With that being said, we are going to

sign off for the night.

Like I said, Longhorns pod or Longhorns show

a little bit later on in the evening.

Looks like they are going to wrap this

one up.

Not the prettiest game, but Longhorns are going

to get a win tonight.

We will break it down and talk all

about it.

Appreciate you guys hanging out.

Rob, I agree with you.

AL West always comes down to the end.

Astros' next opponent is the A's.

I think, Matt, I thought the A's were

like the last series.

I thought they played the Mariners next.

Could be wrong on that, but I thought

they played Mariners next for whatever reason.

Let me take a quick peek at Tuesday's

matchup.

Houston is playing Mariners.

Actually, we had a couple of Houston accounts

hop on and say that last series with

the A's really worries them because the A's

have given the Astros some fits.

For what it's worth, all right, y'all.

I'm taking off.

We do have Monday off, by the way.

Then Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday against the Mets.

Looks like Houston is off on Monday as

well.

Houston and Texas both have Monday off.

Both start their series on Tuesday.

Astros play the Mariners.

Rangers play the Mets.

I appreciate all you guys.

Thanks for hanging out, man.

Casey, appreciate the kind words.

We will be back a little bit later

on in the evening to talk Longhorns.

We'll be back tomorrow, 8th or 9th inning,

hopefully talking about a Jacob deGrom masterpiece and

a Rangers victory in series sweep of the

Toronto Blue Jays.

Oh, so good to be in first place.

I can't say that enough.

Rangers making a lot of people happy this

evening, and the Braves making us all even

happier.

Braves beating the Astros, doing us a solid,

getting us into first place.

Good stuff, Carter.

Thank you for the gifts.

Not needed, but very much appreciated, my guy.

And with that, as I always say to

end every show, God bless and go Rangers.
