Welcome to Carver's USA Regulatory Updates for September 27, 2026.

The United States Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has confirmed that Vital Honey products sold online and possibly in retail stores contain undeclared tadalafil, a prescription drug ingredient. The FDA advises consumers not to purchase or use Vital Honey products and encourages health professionals and consumers to report any adverse events related to these products to the FDA’s MedWatch program.

In California, the California Public Utilities Commission received multiple new filings during the week of September 14 to 18, 2026. These include complaints, applications, and proposed decisions, notably a proposed decision on wildfire mitigation costs and various complaints concerning billing errors and service issues. Stakeholders are invited to submit public comments on these proposed decisions through the CPUC docket card, and subscriptions to CPUC’s service are available for updates on specific proceedings.

Turning to law enforcement actions, the United States Department of Justice secured a federal conviction and sentencing against Emiliano Rafael Hernandez Escamilla for unlawful possession of ammunition as an illegal alien. This enforcement action is part of Operation Take Back America. Similarly, in California, Luis Eduardo Torres-Hernandez was sentenced to 31 months in prison for illegal reentry and unlawful possession of firearms after deportation.

In the realm of criminal justice, a federal detainee was convicted for assaulting correctional officers at Kankakee County, Illinois.

Cybersecurity enforcement saw a significant development with the sentencing of former U.S. soldier Cameron John Wagenius. He was convicted for conspiracy to hack, extort, and unlawfully transfer confidential data of a U.S. government official.

In California, an Inland Empire man pled guilty for his role in a crime ring that fraudulently obtained COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program loans. Entities are reminded to ensure truthful loan applications and compliance with Small Business Administration and lender requirements.

The United States Food and Drug Administration approved Atebrioz tablets as the third treatment for Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva, or FOP. The medication is prescribed at a starting dose of 100 milligrams orally once daily, with or without food. Patients of reproductive potential must use effective contraception and discontinue Atebrioz if pregnancy occurs.

Lastly, the Office of Special Investigation in the New York Attorney General’s office released a report on the death of Shelton Ennis. The report concludes that the use of force by Officer Yelenic was legally justified and that no criminal charges will be pursued.
