Sidekick's What Just Shipped

Breeze Assistant can now create an object pipeline, clone an existing one, and add, update, or remove pipeline stages from a chat.

Show Notes

Breeze Assistant can now create an object pipeline, clone an existing one, and add, update, or remove pipeline stages from a chat. We cover what it can and cannot change, the subscription gates that still apply, what a settings clone copies, stage probabilities and the Won and Lost rule, conditional stage properties, and what blocks deleting a stage or a pipeline. First thing to try: open Breeze Assistant and ask it to add or rename a stage in one pipeline, then check the result in your pipeline settings.

Who it's for: HubSpot admins, sales ops, and RevOps teams who manage deal, ticket, or other object pipelines (Breeze Assistant on all products and plans; custom pipelines need Starter or above, cloning needs Professional or Enterprise, custom object pipelines need Enterprise).

Our research first covered this on October 26, 2026. Here's where it stands as of our Oct 31, 2026 check. Our write-up said this works on all hubs and tiers, including Free. HubSpot's pipeline help article (updated Oct 22, 2026) keeps per-feature gates: Free tools get 0 custom pipelines, Starter gets 15, cloning needs Professional or Enterprise, lead pipelines need Professional or Enterprise, and custom object pipelines need Enterprise. Breeze Assistant cannot create or update pipeline rules, object tags, or automations, or change contact or company lifecycle stages. We couldn't confirm the write-up's preview-before-saving step, or whether a clone made through Breeze copies rules and automations.

What is Sidekick's What Just Shipped?

Sidekick's What Just Shipped is the fast, friendly way to keep up with HubSpot without reading every release note yourself. Each episode, AI hosts Rob and Dana take one feature HubSpot shipped and tell you where it stands right now: what changed, how it got here, who it's for, and what to do on Monday. Rob explains. Dana pushes back. Nobody pretends.

Every episode starts from Sidekick Strategies research on the HubSpot Updates page at sidekickstrategies.com and is checked against official HubSpot sources. If something isn't confirmed, the hosts say so out loud. Episodes run six to eight minutes, and new ones arrive five a week while we catch up on recent releases.

Rob (AI host): You spot a wrong deal stage in the middle of a pipeline review, and the fix lives deep in settings.
Dana (AI host): Breeze Assistant can now create pipelines, clone them, and change their stages from a chat.
Rob (AI host): Stay for the plan check, because what Breeze can build still depends on your subscription.
Narrator (AI voice): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped, presented by Sidekick Strategies.
Narrator (AI voice): Your hosts, Rob and Dana, are AI.
Narrator (AI voice): The voices are synthetic, the research is real, and humans check every claim before it reaches you.
Rob (AI host): Rob with you, alongside Dana, and we're both AI hosts.
Rob (AI host): Today: managing pipelines with Breeze Assistant, from HubSpot's pipeline help article, updated in October.
Dana (AI host): Fine by me: today I'm playing a hypothetical sales ops manager on Sales Hub Starter, about to launch a team in a new region.
Rob (AI host): Good test case.
Rob (AI host): Why it matters: stage probabilities drive the weighted amounts in board view, so one wrong stage skews what managers see.
Dana (AI host): So what can Breeze actually do with pipelines?
Rob (AI host): HubSpot's article says you can use Breeze Assistant to create an object pipeline, clone an existing one, and add, update, or remove pipeline stages.
Dana (AI host): And where do I open the assistant?
Rob (AI host): In the top navigation bar, click Breeze Assistant, then type your request.
Rob (AI host): First, Give users access to Breeze Assistant has to be turned on in your AI settings.
Dana (AI host): And who's allowed to make pipeline changes?
Rob (AI host): Creating and editing pipelines or stages needs Edit property settings permissions.
Rob (AI host): HubSpot also says Breeze Assistant actions depend on your user permissions.
Dana (AI host): So the assistant is not a way around permissions.
Rob (AI host): Right. Now what it won't touch.
Rob (AI host): Breeze Assistant cannot create or update pipeline rules, object tags, or automations.
Dana (AI host): Anything else off the table?
Rob (AI host): It also cannot change contact or company lifecycle stages.
Dana (AI host): Sensible fence.
Rob (AI host): So, your plan question.
Dana (AI host): I'm on Starter. Can I create a new pipeline?
Rob (AI host): Yes. Creating a custom pipeline needs Starter, Professional, or Enterprise. Free tools get zero custom pipelines.
Dana (AI host): And can I clone our main pipeline for the new region?
Rob (AI host): Not on Starter. HubSpot says cloning a pipeline needs Professional or Enterprise.
Dana (AI host): Huh. So on Starter, I build it from scratch.
Rob (AI host): That's the path.
Dana (AI host): What about leads, or custom objects?
Rob (AI host): Lead pipelines need Professional or Enterprise. Custom object pipelines need Enterprise.
Dana (AI host): How many pipelines does Starter allow?
Rob (AI host): Starter accounts get fifteen custom pipelines, shared across all objects, and the default pipeline for each object does not count toward that.
Dana (AI host): Walk me through a clone on Professional, then. What gets copied?
Rob (AI host): In settings, you choose which features to clone: conditional stage properties, pipeline rules, automations, deal tags, and pipeline access.
Dana (AI host): Rules and automations copy over in a settings clone?
Rob (AI host): When you select them, yes.
Rob (AI host): That's the manual path: the settings icon, then Data Management, then Objects, then the Pipelines tab, then Clone from existing.
Dana (AI host): What are conditional stage properties, in plain terms?
Rob (AI host): They show certain properties when someone manually creates a record in a stage, or moves one there.
Rob (AI host): Mark a property Required, and the record cannot be saved until it has a value.
Dana (AI host): Could a lead score be one of them?
Rob (AI host): No. Read-only values, like score or calculation properties, cannot be used as stage properties.
Dana (AI host): Now stages. What do I set when I add one?
Rob (AI host): A stage name. For deals, a deal probability, and you can enter a custom value.
Rob (AI host): For other objects, you mark the stage Open or Closed.
Dana (AI host): Any must-have stages?
Rob (AI host): For deals, HubSpot says to include stages for both Won and Lost under Deal probability, so sales reports and analytics process deals correctly.
Dana (AI host): And how is the weighted amount figured?
Rob (AI host): Board view multiplies the total amount in each stage by that stage's probability.
Dana (AI host): Can I color-code stages?
Rob (AI host): Yes. There's a Color column, and you can set a color for each stage.
Dana (AI host): What if I remove a stage that still has deals in it?
Rob (AI host): HubSpot won't let you delete a stage while references remain, like records in that stage or conditional properties in use.
Rob (AI host): The Used in column shows what to clear first.
George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Hey, it's George B. Thomas from Sidekick Strategies.
George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Full honesty, this is my AI voice clone, made with my permission.
George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): A pipeline is only as good as the agreement behind each stage.
George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Sidekick's Sales Hub implementation interviews your reps and managers, then configures deal stages, required fields, and automation rules around how your team actually sells.
George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Your process, not a template. Ask about Sales Hub Implementation at Sidekick Strategies dot com.
Dana (AI host): Let's talk deleting. What happens if I remove a whole pipeline?
Rob (AI host): You cannot delete a pipeline that contains records or is used in other HubSpot tools or integrations.
Rob (AI host): Move or delete the records and remove those references first.
Dana (AI host): Is any pipeline fully locked?
Rob (AI host): If you connect an e-commerce integration, HubSpot adds a deal pipeline that you cannot modify.
Dana (AI host): And tickets?
Rob (AI host): Ticket stages are called statuses by default, but HubSpot says they're the same as other object stages.
Dana (AI host): Back to my new region. Do I even need a second pipeline?
Rob (AI host): HubSpot recommends separate pipelines only when your processes have unique stages.
Rob (AI host): If every team sells with the same stages, use one pipeline and Team only permissions instead.
Dana (AI host): And if I want a pipeline only one team can see?
Rob (AI host): Restricting a pipeline by team needs Professional or Enterprise.
Dana (AI host): Skeptic question. Our research says this works on all hubs and tiers, including Free.
Rob (AI host): The assistant is broadly available, but the pipeline features keep their own subscription gates, like Professional for cloning.
Dana (AI host): Our research also says Breeze shows you the change before saving it.
Rob (AI host): That's what we couldn't confirm. HubSpot's pipeline article just points to Breeze Assistant for these tasks.
Rob (AI host): It does not describe a preview step, or whether a Breeze clone copies rules and automations.
Dana (AI host): So after any Breeze change, I check the pipeline in settings.
Rob (AI host): Good habit for every change.
Dana (AI host): My rollout, as that sales ops manager. First: confirm I have Edit property settings permissions.
Rob (AI host): Second: ask Breeze to create the new region's pipeline from scratch, since cloning needs Professional.
Dana (AI host): Third: add Won and Lost stages, then set each deal probability.
Rob (AI host): Fourth: review the pipeline in settings, and set any rules and automations by hand.
Dana (AI host): Sales ops verdict: worth using this week for stage cleanup, as long as someone checks the pipeline settings afterward.
Rob (AI host): Chat for structure, settings for the logic.
Dana (AI host): HubSpot's articles and our research are linked in the show notes, with more updates at Sidekick Strategies dot com.
Rob (AI host): Appreciate you staying for the stage talk.
Dana (AI host): Add Won and Lost first.
