OK Solberg:

I wanna again welcome you to The 405 Coffee Break. Get your cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottle of water, put a sweater on, and let's see what's happening.

OK Solberg:

Spring wheat $6.05 a bushel. 550lb steer calf not moving now, but you can get $5 a pound for them. Butcher hog in Iowa 69ยข a pound, and a 100lb lamb that's fat in Billings will fetch you $3.05 a pound. But, guys, there's more. Much more.

OK Solberg:

Oh, hey. Guess what? It's Good Friday. That reminds me of a Bible passage, oddly enough. Yes, sir. It does.

OK Solberg:

From the gospel of Matthew, we hear, as they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry his cross. And when they came to the place called Golgotha, which means place of a skull, they offered him wine to drink mixed with gall.

OK Solberg:

But when he tasted it, he would not drink it. And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots. Then they sat down and kept watch over him there. And over his head, they put the charge against him which read, this is Jesus, the king of the Jews. End of quote, that was Matthew 27:32-37

OK Solberg:

But we also read in Mark's gospel from chapter 15. And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. And they brought him to the place called Golgotha, which means place of a skull, and they offered him wine mixed with myrrh.

OK Solberg:

But he did not take it, and they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them to decide what each should take. And it was the 3rd hour when they crucified him. And the inscription of the charge against him read, the king of the Jews. And with him, they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left, End quote for now, that was Mark 15:21-27.

OK Solberg:

But also in the gospel of Luke, we hear, two others who were criminals were led away to be put to death with him. And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. Yep. Same story, different gospel. Luke 23:32-33

OK Solberg:

So are we done? No. Listen what it says in the gospel of John. Gospel of John chapter 19. So he delivered him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus, and he went out bearing his own cross to the place called The Skull, which is Aramaic and is called Golgotha. There they crucified him and with him two others, one on either side and Jesus between them.

OK Solberg:

Pilot also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews. Many of the Jews read this inscription for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city and it was written in Aramaic and Latin and in Greek.

OK Solberg:

So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilot, do not write the king of the Jews, but rather this man said, I am king of the Jews. Pilot answered, what I have written, I have written. That was John chapter 19:16-22.

OK Solberg:

All 4 gospels give an account of the happening. And today is Good Friday, the day we remember what he did for us. See you in church on Sunday, Easter Sunday. Oh, wait. Did I share a bible verse? Just checking, seeing if you were listening.

OK Solberg:

So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
