Full show transcript:
Yo, Josh. Yo. Chantel. How many times have you been on a roller coaster and you go, wow. Well, zero.
You don't scream? No. I think I you know what? I think, not because they aren't exciting. I just don't feel, like, the need to scream.
And what would that sound like from me? But you're No. You don't even laugh? Like, No. Yeah.
You just keep quiet Yeah. You just keep it. Shut? You're a lot of fun. I'm fun on a roller coaster.
No. I don't yell and scream or hoot and holler. I bet you do. You just don't realize you do. I'm probably go, woah.
Well, listen. I don't know what happens. There is a place in Ohio. Ohio is dealing with a lot of cicadas, like an overload of cicadas. Okay.
So people are being warned to keep their mouth shut while riding roller coasters. Oh, yeah. Because cicadas will get in there. Yeah. I won't have a problem.
Oh. They're but that they're still even if they're not going in your mouth, they're bouncing off your face. Yeah. Of course, they are. That's fun.
They are posting videos of the cicadas at the park. The it's pretty, like, massive. They are everywhere. That's wild. And the swarms are so dense Yeah.
That they're just everywhere. But people are sharing ride photos with their mouths firmly closed as instructed. That's wild. I don't want a bunch of bugs in my mouth. Those those are the rules for anytime you're, on a motorcycle, or a bike, or running.
Keep your keep keep the bugs out of your mouth. There's nothing worse than you just running along and you hit one of those clouds of gnats. Yeah. And you're like, oh. That's a bad time.
It's gross. Bad time. Should we start the show? Let's do it. Alright.
Yep. We're here. We are here. Yes. Yeah.
Yep. Yes. We are here. It's like we're in here to who? We are here.
We are here. We are here. We are here. Yeah. Except, Because a person's a person no matter how small.
Right. But but even, collectively, they've gotta be louder collectively to fully be heard. True. And I think there's a message in there. I see.
Something about community and, and and, what's the word? A a a chaotic good, maybe. Okay. You know? I think I think there might be a message here.
Something. No. There's not. No. Forget about it.
Yeah. Doctor Seuss was he'd never throw a moral in there. No way. Today is fresh fresh veggies day. Oh, yes, please.
Quite the bounty. You sure did over the weekend. Yeah. I have one ripe tomato that has been harvested. I was super excited.
It is very red and ready to go. Yep. It's currently sitting in the fridge. I know. Are you gonna eat it?
I want to, I wanna cut it up and have everybody try a bite of of a tomato grown in our own garden. Emery will try a bite. Beck will not. He's think he'll try a single bite He doesn't like tomatoes. With just a little sprinkle of salt and pepper on there?
He won't. He doesn't like them. He might be like, woah. Homegrown tomato. Doubtful.
You think? Mhmm. Do you know our kid? Yeah. Okay.
But I just think maybe if we talk him into it, he might be like, wait a minute. This is actually really good. Doubtful. I'll try it. I'm excited to try it.
Yeah. Is it it's it's not huge. You got one tomato Yeah. And I got a strawberry. A strawberry.
Oh, look. A strawberry. It was a perfect looking strawberry too. I ate it already. Yeah.
You you and Emery cut it in half. I'm not big on seeded things, like berries, specifically. I don't like raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries because the seeds are so small. They get in my teeth, and I don't like it. And you even get seedless jam.
That's right. They make that for people like me. How do they get the seeds out of there? Screen it. Smart.
Yeah. Push it through a screen. The seeds will stay on the side of the screen, and the fruit will go through. Yeah. Yeah.
How would you do it? What? Individually? Yeah. With tweezers?
Yeah. That's not it. That's a job for somebody who is you don't like. You go, hey. You're gonna be seeds.
You're gonna be on Tweezer duty today pulling out all the seeds. Good bounty, Josh. I was impressed. One whole red tomato. It's all looking good too.
You're doing your little garden is doing awesome. I have I have days. I go through days where I go, it's not doing everything's dying. I gotta get more dirt in there. That's an interesting thing.
I don't know where all my dirt went. Yeah. That is interesting. Have a fresh vegetable today. It'll do your body good.
It will do your body good. Eighteen days. That's what we have left. Are you serious? Mhmm.
Eighteen days until the July 4? Yep. Correct. No way. Yeah.
Way. Okay. I gotta get to work. What you gotta do? Oh, just a whole bunch of work.
Eighteen days. Alright. No stress over here. No. None at all.
None. None. None. Oh, man. That's incredible.
That means it's eighteen days until Riverfest Correct. And the thirty second annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration. That's what that means. Correct. Let's talk about Riverfest.
This is, a full day on the July 4 of all kinds of fun for the whole family at the Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls. And it is the Idaho Falls Community Hospital Riverfest presented by Idaho Central Credit Union, Tag and Go Car Wash, and Riverbend Media Group. Now what is going on all day that people can enjoy? All day? Well, there's all day passes to the Stones Kia Kids Zone.
Okay. Only $10 all day. So the kids can play in the Nerf Battle Zone, do the rock wall, do all the inflatable stuff, the bounce houses, all of that for $10 all day. All day. That's a win.
That is a win. Send your kids there all day. There's also an off road demonstration area. You can test drive the new Can Am from Rev Motorsports, which is super fun. I'm a be trying that.
I don't want you to because then you're gonna wanna buy one. With me. Well, I'll do it. Yeah. I don't want you to do it Right.
Because I don't want you to buy one. Mhmm. Until you go, yeah. This is cool. No.
I don't. I'm trying to get us out of that. I understand. Okay. There's also a a misting station by Mountain View Hospital.
You can cool off there. It gets hot. I kinda like that misting station because you can just walk through it and be like, ah. Yeah. And then you can just keep walking through it and then walk through it and then walk through.
You can go through it as many times as you want. You can. This is Mountain View Hospital misting station. There's gonna be somebody who's like, I'm just hanging out at the misting station. They might I prop my chair right here.
They might ask me to leave. Yeah. They might ask me to leave. Yeah. They Just leave.
Hey. You've been in here too much. We need other people to enjoy this space as well. You're dancing through it. Uh-uh.
Misting Yeah. Stay should Oh, it's got food trucks and vendors from all over East Idaho. The sidewalks are lined with food trucks. Yep. It's awesome.
And, of course, the, the big finale of the day, and then it will have its own big finale as well. The thirty second annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration, the largest fireworks display West Of The Mississippi, and it is all synchronized to music on class e 97. We've done it for thirty one years. This year, we're doing it for the thirty second. It's very, very cool.
If you are gonna be listening, to the synchronized music and the fireworks and all that stuff outside of Snake River Landing where we have the big PA system, that you'll be able to listen there. If you're gonna be outside that area or if you just wanna have a better listening experience on your own, that's fine. We, recommend that you use a traditional radio rather than, the app, just because there is a delay. There's an Internet buffering thing that happens that causes a delay. And if you're listening on the app, you're not gonna get that full synchronized experience.
Break out the batteries. That's right. Find the old boom box, grab that thing, and go, it's July 4 again. Here comes the radio. Yeah.
That's right. And then, get it ready to go. And, it's gonna be a lot of fun. The Idaho Falls Community Hospital Riverfest presented by Idaho Central Credit Union, Tag and Go Car Wash, and Riverbend Media Group, and, of course, the thirty second annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration, all happening on the July 4. River Landing in Idaho Falls.
It's gonna be awesome. Alright. Some good news to get you going. A, what they're calling spirited retriever mix named Amber had a rough life as a puppy. Oh.
Uh-huh. She was growing up on the streets of Qatar, and a charity group rescued her and brought her to England. And while Amber's life has calmed down in The UK, she still has a streak of adventure, which she put to the test over the last month or so. So see what happened, while, back in April, Amber escaped from her foster home. And over the next thirty six days, she covered about a 100 miles, including swimming to and from an island in a harbor.
Woah. A lot of people in the community learned about Amber and did their best to help, and it was no small task because Amber was on the run and didn't seem to have any interest in calming down. Eventually, she was spotted by two men in a boat in the harbor who rescued her and brought her to safety. And now she is back with her foster family and is being closely watched to make sure that she doesn't attempt another great escape. Over a 100 miles.
What kind of breed is she? A spirited retriever. Oh, no. Yeah. She is a retriever mix, and she is very much, excited to go out and explore.
Amber, your flight risk Yeah. Stay put. Yeah. She's she's cute. She's got, like, a golden look to her, but definitely mixed with something in there.
But, golden retriever is heavy in the DNA. But, yeah, she, she's alright. Thirty six days out On it. On an adventure. Big day out.
Now I'm looking at at the island. She was swimming from the mainland to Brownsea Island. I know that. Brownsea Island as well. It's no small swim.
No. Brown Sea Island, for people that don't know, is, is where, lord Baden Powell began the scouting movement, and and he went to Brown Sea Island and started the first scout camp. Anyway, she wanted to go to scout camp, I think is what happened. So too. And so she did.
She was like, there's lots of fun and games happening there. Let's go check this out. Yeah. I hear cheers and singing and chants. I gotta go check this out.
Go check that out. If they still do stuff on Brown Sea Island. Be cool if they did. But Amber's gonna let me know. She went to check it out.
So, anyway, she's back where she belongs. And that is good news. Big day out. To get you going. That is a big day out.
Yeah. I'm over here just scratching, scratching, scratching. You need some after bite? Is that what you're saying? Do you have some?
Yeah. It's on the truck. No. That's the one I ever used yesterday. It's dried out.
You need Oh, it was it is dried out? Yeah. That was the newest stick. No. It's it's done.
It's done for. She I never heard. She never said. We tried to use it yesterday. Yeah.
We got eaten alive yesterday. Oh, while you are gallivanting around fishing. Yeah. Happy Father's Day to you. K.
Remember you told me the story about the mosquitoes and the scientists were trying to work Yeah. To see if they could get their Probiscus. They're doing a proboscis swap. They're putting the male proboscis on the female ones. So that it can't contact your skin.
Yeah. It can't break through the skin. It's not strong enough. When you first told me that story, I got a little bit sad. And I said for the mosquitoes?
I don't think you should mess with the ecosystem. Yeah. I think that's gonna disrupt so many things. I've changed my mind. Eradicate them all.
Get rid of them. I hate all of them. Alright. I had a book to read. I was very happy sitting by that little creek while you were fishing and reading my book.
I was enjoying nature. It was a perfect temperature. It was beautiful. I didn't even mind the flies buzzing around. I saw a giant bumblebee.
I was really excited. And then, no. Mosquitoes. I can't do this. So Emery and I went and sat in the truck.
We can't even enjoy nature because of those mosquitoes. I know. So get rid of it. The it's that time of year in the mountains. Mosquito season.
And every time I scratch there's no snow. Every time I scratch one more Yeah. I'm like, oh, there's a new one. Yeah. They really went after your legs a lot.
I know because my legs were exposed. I I was wearing waiters to make sure they didn't get my legs. Well, I didn't have waiters. I did. You did.
I didn't wanna put them on. Yeah. Well, it woulda helped. I needed to get some sunshine on these old pasty legs. Yeah.
I guess, you know At one point, I had three dead mosquitoes on my legs, and I went, I'm gonna leave them there just so that all the other mosquitoes can fly by and be like, oh, this is this is a danger zone. No. They didn't care. They did not care. They're like zombies.
They just feed me. Eat. Eat. That's all they it's all they care. Dead one on the right leg, two dead ones on the left leg.
It's like, yeah. Come take a peek, mosquitoes. Honestly, the only real role they play in an ecosystem is as a food source and as a pollinator. They're a pollinator? Apparently, they they feed on nectar and in the process can transfer pollen between flowers acting as pollinators.
Mhmm. The males specifically. Because the males aren't the ones that are out there, sucking blood. That's what they eat. They eat nectar.
So if the proboscis thing goes forward and they're able to, to do that on a mass level, it isn't like the mosquitoes are gonna go away as a food source. They're just gonna have to turn to nectar instead. So they're gonna become more bet they're gonna become better pollinators. Well They'll be a better contributor. And they'll still be able to feed on animals, probably.
Yes? No. Because their proboscis won't penetrate skin. Entirely. Not even animal skin?
Well and animals are probably even harder You're probably right. Because they have hair, and then below the hair is a fur level, layer that that keeps them warm. And then there's gonna be a thick hide and then fatty stuff. I don't know. Like, I don't think they bother much.
I mean, obviously, they do because if they, no. That's ticks. Never mind. I was gonna say ticks on deer. That's where you get Lyme disease.
Get rid of them too while we're at it. Yeah. What purpose do they serve? Birds eat them. Birds eat a lot of things.
That's right. Get rid of them. They they and wasps. None of those people none of those things contribute. Wasps also do some pollination.
No. But Not enough. I'm cranky about those mosquitoes. Just itch your bites a little bit more. I I can't believe that was all dried up.
That really bums me out. Yeah. We were trying to use it yesterday. I just bought that one last year. I'm a have to get a new one.
Yeah. It didn't work. Well, sorry. I can't help you out. I have another one at home, but that's not gonna help you right now.
No. Sorry about that. You talking about it has made me all itchy, so thanks for that. I'm itchy everywhere. Yeah.
That's, It got me on my eyebrow. I kept telling you they were on your face. I didn't know. I would've swadd them away every now and then Yeah. But couldn't even read my book outside.
And then we were in the truck. Yeah. It was too hot in the truck. We would open the door a little bit. 63 flew in every time we opened the door.
60 Yep. Three flew in Yes. Every time? Yes. 63.
Yes. Wow. I know. What a very specific number. Open the door.
63 mosquitoes, and then you're cut off. 64, you're the start of the next line. They were waiting outside, and then they're like They had a queue going. Yeah. Like, trying to get in a nightclub.
It's open. Yeah. Come on in. 63 of you. That's it.
We got we got a limit. You're ridiculous. That's fun. Sorry about your mosquito bites. Yeah.
Are you itching again? Yeah. I quit itching. Josh, what a day yesterday. What a day.
Why? What a weekend, really. Father's Day and Saturday. Yeah. What a weekend.
Why? What a weekend. Well, you fished all weekend. I got to fish both Saturday and Sunday. Yes.
And you were teaching the kids Saturday was free fishing day. Right. So you got to work with Emery a little bit. Right. She fished a little bit.
Yeah. She did not catch anything. Oh, no. She did. Right.
She did catch something. Correct. Good job. And she helped me, with the fish because I've shown her how to take the hook out, and and she wanted to touch the fish. So and then she was complaining that her hand smelled like fish, and I went, well, yeah, you touched fish.
So that's a good day. It's a good day when your hand smells like you touched fish. That's a win. And then yesterday Yeah. You took Beck out.
Right. Was fishing. He has his own fishing license. Been camping, all weekend. And, yeah, then he wanted to try fishing.
And he he was like, I don't think I wanna get into fly fishing. I don't think I wanna try a new something. I just wanna just do spinner fishing. And I went, okay. Fine.
I had a bunch of gear, so I set him up with gear, and then he didn't end up going over the weekend. He just ended up staying in camp and doing some other stuff, I guess. But, when we picked him up from from camping, I said, yeah. Let's, I'm going fishing. So if you wanna try, I've got all this gear.
Let's give it a shot. And I think he got interested in it, a little bit. He did not catch a fish yesterday, though. Lots of bites, but he didn't, he didn't, actually get to touch a fish. But he was talking about going to get a fly fishing kit his own self.
That's right. How'd that make you feel? That's pretty exciting times. You know, now, look. It's it's his money if he wants to buy a a rod combo or get, you know, get a starter kit and actually try it.
I think that's great. But when I go, hey. I'm going fishing, and there's, like, video games and stuff on, we'll see is what I'm saying. Okay. I'm saying You're saying it was a one off?
I'm saying I enjoy it. I I really like to do it. I will prioritize fly fishing because I love it. I don't think it'll be a priority. Okay.
I was just I think it might be a, oh, we're camping and you're going fishing. I'll go fishing too Oh, okay. Thing. I don't think it'll be a I'm actively going to give up my day off too. I'm gonna start watching YouTube videos of fly fishing fishing stuff.
I don't think that is gonna happen. Okay. I just as we were driving home from fishing last night, and Beck was talking about going to pick up his own fly fishing kit. Right. And Emery said, yeah.
I kinda like it too. Yeah. I just kept my mouth shut, but I was wondering what your insides were doing. I I'm Were they jumping up and down with your joints? Optimistic.
Okay. I didn't wanna be like like, yes. I've got a fly fishing family now, because of one trip. Right? It was fun.
And where I was going was easy to access the water, which you were like, why didn't we come here? This would have been a lot easier. Yeah. The places you take me to are always places that I'm like, I'm just gonna stay up here because that is too complicated for me to get in and out of. Well, on where we went Saturday, we didn't catch fish, but we got to fish.
And I think we could have if we would have explored a little bit further along the trail. But you could see the difference in the water we were fishing on Saturday and then what we were fishing on Sunday. Like, the the ease of access to general population is exists in both places, but I think in the place we were fishing yesterday, not a lot of people know about it. Okay. Don't tell anybody.
I know. Because I like it. I know. You don't talk about it. I like that there was nobody there.
That's what I'm saying. You don't talk about your fishing spot. I mean, there were a lot of mosquitoes, so you won't wanna go there anyway. You're getting a live. So many mosquitoes.
Yeah. Ew. Big day, though. Job. Ew.
Ew. Ew. Ew. Hate it. Ew.
Don't go there. Yeah. The road's terrible. Ew. It smelled bad.
Yeah. Everything was dusty. Ew. You'll hate it. No.
That was a good Father's Day weekend for you. Fun. Yeah. That was a lot of fun. Fishing and fishing.
In a little bit, which was nice. You slept in a lot. I didn't mean to. I didn't I don't know what was going on. I way overslept.
I did not expect it to be some plans for breakfast, and then I went, well, I guess brunch? Yeah. I guess lunch? What? Well, brunch, yeah, quickly became lunch because by the time we got out of the house.
But yeah. No. That was that was not in my, my plan. I wanted to be up and at them and out and doing stuff, and that just didn't happen. That's alright.
Took some time, but that's fine. It is fine. Good day. Fish. I thought it was a fun day.
Yeah. Do you have a good Father's Day? I think so. Yeah. Fantastic.
Caught some fish. Can't complain. How many fish did Emery say I caught yesterday? Caught, like, eight. Oh, yeah.
Sweet. That's a good day. That's a good day. Take me Good day. Even dads don't get a day off on Father's Day.
Well, look. Sometimes there's stuff that has to get done around the house. I was just talking to, one of our sales guys, Jake. I said, hey. How was your Father's Day?
He said, you know, it ended up being kind of the only day to get all the stuff done. I had such a busy week and weekend that Sunday turned into, like, all the yard work had to get done and all the stuff had to get done. And he's like, I got lunch. And I went, well, that's alright. That's that's cool.
Look. I mean, stuff has to happen. And so and, you know, I knew no one else was gonna take it upon themselves to, to do it, so I just had to get it done. I went to, use the basement bathroom, and the light switch broke, and I couldn't turn the light off. And I and I know that it had been having issues for the past little while, and I should have been a little bit more proactive on it.
But when I officially could not turn the light off, I went, I gotta replace the switch. Yeah. That's a problem. You're like, have you noticed? I go, no.
I never used that room. Use that room at all unless it's to wash your paintbrushes or something. Correct. But I clean it all the time. Thanks for that.
I don't use it, but I sure clean it. You're welcome. Thanks for that. So so, it was a it was a run to the store, get a new light switch. They didn't have the ones.
We had to run to a different store, get the right light switch, and then, and then I we went about the day. And the light stayed on all day until I got around to fixing it, when we got home. But I did fix it, Got it taken care of, and I was stressed out a little bit because I wasn't sure that I was gonna be able to get it, done. Because when the when our basement was finished before we bought the house, whoever did the electrical did a dang good job. Really?
And, and everything is is real nice, except that it was a real pain to try to get in and undo what had been done so nicely, because everything was cut to a specific length, and, and it was it was tough. Oh. I couldn't pull like, normally, you open up an outlet cover or a light switch, and the wiring has got, like, a bundle of wire back in there, and you can pull the whole switch out, and you can work on it, put a new switch in, and push it all back in. Well, this one didn't have all of that leeway. I had just enough room to get behind the switch to try and, release the little things.
Anyway, it it was a real pain, and I was I was stressed out for a minute. But I got it got it taken care of. The light switch works. The fan works. The light in the shower works.
Everything's fine. Thank you for doing that. Yeah. So when you do go to use it to wash your paintbrush, the switch will work. Thank you, Josh.
Yeah. I, at one point, said, is there anything I can do to help? And you said, do you know anything about electrical work? And I said, nope. I'll see myself out.
Good luck. Don't shock yourself. A couple of times where you said, is there anything I can do to help? And I went, like, what? I don't know.
Like what? Hold the light. I had a lamp. I know. I know.
Listen. I appreciate that you were you offered to help. I just didn't know what I woulda had to do. When I need to be there for emotional support. I know when I need to be there to actually have an extra set of hands, and I know when to leave.
And that was an instance where I was like, yeah. You got this. I did need your help with the breakers once I got everything put back because that was, you know, my arms aren't that long. I can't breathe clear up the stairs. I know.
That was great. I appreciate that help. And I made you dinner. Well, kinda. Yeah.
I started it, and then you finished finished it. It's fine. It's all good. Stuff had to get taken care of. You know?
Good job, dad, on Father's Day. A little DIY dad project. Sure. Why not? Home repair.
Never hurt anybody. It it probably did. Yeah. It probably does all the time. Yeah.
Be careful. Be careful. Turn off the breakers before you do anything with the electrical. That's step one. Good advice.
It's step one. Turn off the breaker. And, if your breaker box isn't labeled, very well, like mine isn't, every time I have to fix something, I get to label something else because I gotta find a breaker. Right. Yeah.
That's why like, I I turned off the whole panel at one point. Like, I had to turn everything off to get it to work. It was it was a mess. Breaker breaker? Yeah.
Breaker breaker one nine? You're right. CB radios. That's what I was talking about. You did something, yesterday that, I just think you should probably talk about with your therapist maybe.
Why? Well, I get that you feel bad about the dog staying at home and us going out and about and having an adventure. And sometimes she's a pain in the car, and sometimes it's depending on the activity. If we're going to, you know, go inside a building or something, like, we gotta have a consideration for if the dog is there. Like, there's you gotta be a responsible pet owner.
Right. You felt so bad that you gave her extra peanut butter. I gave her a lot of peanut butter. Which she loves peanut butter. Yeah.
And if you're supposed to which peanut butter is okay? It's gotta be the right kind of peanut butter. It can't have, what is it it can't have in it? There's a certain kind of stuff in peanut butter that you gotta make sure it doesn't you're you don't give your dog, because it can make him sick. But, and you're also supposed to give them a pretty minimal amount of peanut butter.
Oh. Like, per week. Uh-oh. I just we had been out all day on Saturday. We had been out all day on Sunday, and I feel bad because it's like she's a prisoner in her own house.
Yeah. I understand. She can't. She has to be tied up to go outside. Right.
She's a flight risk, and we're afraid of her running away. Right. And so I I always feel guilty when on the weekends we're home, and we're like, well, we're gonna see you later. And she's like, hey. I just wanna I just wanna be around my people.
Yeah. I get you. I wanna be outside. I wanna go with you. And so you felt bad, so you gave her extra peanut butter love.
Yeah. Yeah. I it's that's all. I'm just saying. Like, I I understand.
I get I get that you you felt bad. But now the dog's gonna have a weird association with food. Like, it's gonna be an emotional thing now. The dog's gonna have be an emotional eater and have a weird relationship with food. They're like I mean, if you're gonna leave, at least give me a lot of food.
I just I already feel guilty about my regular kids. I don't need to feel guilty about my dog too. But guess what? I do. Way to be a caring individual.
I just here's the thing, Josh. Before we even got that dog, did I? I told you it was a bad idea. Remember? I said No.
Wait. We don't have the time. No. I get it. Our last dog was, on the fatter side because we weren't able to take her on the necessary walk she needed.
But this is a smaller dog. Answer to that was, let's get a dog with more energy. That's right. Problem solved. And I I sit and think about our dog.
I think she's understimulated. I think that's why she's got obsessive compulsive disorders because she's bored. I like I like how much reading into it that you're doing. Like, it it's it's interesting to me. And you and you talk about it, and you share with the family all the things we should be doing and stuff, and I think it's good.
I think that's a that's a good dog parent. Like, if you were wanna be a dog parent. I understand, but you're a good one. And if if you weren't, you wouldn't care, but you do, and you are. See?
Look at you. No. You're. I said one nice thing. I know I know this game.
What game? Oh, you do the dishes so well. No. I'm just saying you're good. Them on the time you do the dishes.
So good at it. That's not what I'm doing at all. I'm I'm straight up telling you that you're a good person because you care about the welfare of an animal, that you you you're not required to, and you do. No. We aren't required to because it's our responsibility.
I I get it. And as a good human, you do, and you care. There are people out there that don't. I know. And that's what I'm saying.
You're a good person. That's a good quality. The fact that you care enough to give the dog extra peanut butter because you feel bad because she's in a comfy home laying on a couch Bored. All day. I understand.
Just being like, if only I could go outside. I just wanna run. Right. I just wanna run. Correct.
And we'll take her to the dog park, and we'll take her on walks, and we'll do all that stuff. We can't take her to the dog park because she doesn't get along with other dogs. We gotta take her to a solo dog park where she can be by herself, and she'll be okay. That dog, might I say, was driving me crazy all weekend. I was ready to I was ready to get over.
Buddy. No. She follows you around. Yes. She's your little shadow.
Yep. I like her little things she does in the morning. And by like it, I mean, I don't, where it's real early and she goes, right outside the door, like, hello. Hey. Bathroom time.
Hello. And then I go, cool. Let's go outside. I'll Yeah. Make a cup of tea and go sit outside with you and write my book.
And then she barks at the birds. Oh. And she Oh, I gotta protect you from these nasty old birds. Yeah. These birds going to the bird feeder are gonna be a big problem, so I'll make sure to keep them away.
And then she gets tangled around the trampoline, and I can't even enjoy my outside time. Fun. It is fun. Get yourself a dog. They're the best.
They'll really test your, humanity is what they'll do. It's a it's a good it's a good thing. Give them a extra peanut butter. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. That's that's how you compensate. You know, you make me crazy. Here's some peanut butter on a lick pad. Now be quiet for a while.
Because if you give her a lick pad, it lasts a little bit longer. And she'll stand over there for thirty five, forty minutes a little bit more quiet talking. All day. You said something that was very offensive yesterday. Listen.
The way you take offense is up to you. The way I give compliments is up to me. And if you find a compliment Oh, it's my offense. Offensive, then that's, it's your well, look. Off offense offense is is taken, not given.
Right? Like, that's that's the dealio. If this that's what makes you sleep at night, Josh. It does. And just fine, by the way, I might add.
Oh. All I said was that you were a specific type of gangsta, and you were offended by that because we were listening to a dad playlist for Father's Day that I just pulled up at random, and it just had a bunch of dad songs. And that one was kinda weak, and we were like, nah. And so I I was just scrolling through the rest of the dad playlist that had been curated across the the the Internet. And this one was like, it was a good day playlist, and it had all kinds of, like, hip hop stuff on it.
It was kind of a fun little playlist. I liked it. Yeah. So that was what started this whole thing. And I just simply said, hey.
As Coolio's gangsta's paradise was playing, I said, this is your energy. Like, this right here, when you say you're a thug or some sort of gangsta, it's a Coolio gangsta. And you were very offended by that, which I thought that was a nice compliment because I found where your energy lives, and I said, this this matches your energy. Okay. I'm not offended by that because Julio is awesome.
That's what I'm saying. RIP, Julio. I think because I grew up on the streets of Burley. No. You you didn't.
You grew up in a house, not on the streets. You weren't in a gang. No. You had a I wasn't. Good group of friends.
You were you were a good kid. You you're not some gangster. You're a you're a gangster's paradise gangster. Alright. I'll accept it.
Today, you will? Well, yeah. It's fine. I think I'm more of a maybe a Missy Elliott. I don't know about that.
Well, how come I know all the words to her songs? You don't. I do. No. I've heard you, and you don't.
And it's not about knowing the words to the songs. Don't It's about the attitude. Yeah. I got attitude. No.
No. You don't. I do. No. I do.
I do. I don't know. Yeah. I feel like I'm rough. Here's the thing about Coolio's style.
Say. I will. He he's kind of a party guy. Like, it's stuff that that that's got a little bit of, of grit to it, a little bit. But come along and ride on a fantastic voyage isn't really gangsta.
That's more your style. You're like, yeah. Let's go have a good time. Yeah. See, you're you're you're kind of a have a good time gangster.
Alright. Alright. Yeah. That's true. Less about, like, murdering people.
Exactly. About, like, let's just have a good time. Right. Alright. See?
A Coolio gangster. Yep. That's all I'm trying to say. Okay. I'm not gangster at all.
No. You're not. I'm banjos and harmonicas. Yeah. Yes.
You are. You wouldn't drive. Folk music in the woods Yeah. On a on a weird and handmade raft floating down our creek. That's me.
Huck Finn? Ish. Kinda. No gangster. Oh.
None. No. You don't. You can't hang with me and Coolio. You're right.
It's okay. See. So I'm saying you're more gangster than I am. Okay. I'll take that.
But you're not as you're not, like, crazy gangster. Alright. It's fair. Alright. We're no longer offended?
No. No. That's a victory. For all of the good news you had yesterday, caught eight fish. Yeah.
Got your kids interested in fly fishing. Right. They were fishing with you, and that was exciting. Yes. You also got slammed a little bit too.
I did. And I and I didn't really appreciate it. The question came up. If you could, eliminate one song from existence and, and to the point of, like, no one has ever heard this song. Yeah.
No one remembers this song. This song does not exist. I chose, because I really dislike the song, What's Up from the four non blondes. Not my favorite song, and if it didn't exist, I wouldn't be upset. It's not a good song.
She's screechy. It's not good. I chose Sandstorm. Right. Because you just don't like EDM at all.
I don't even know who sings that song. Sandstorm? Yeah. Why are you before you even just don't like yeah. Derude.
Sandstorm. Stupid. Do do, do your best impression of sandstorm. Yeah. Right.
Yeah. It's so good. It's so good. I hate it so, so much. What's going on?
Right. That song, I gotta not have that in my life. So that was our picks. Then you ask the kids, and both of them just tore me apart. And it was every song that I enjoy.
Whatever this song is, it's gotta go. My pick is this song. This one we're listening to right now would be a good one to get rid of over and over and over. Our daughter calls it Oregon Trail music. Yes.
She She calls my music that I enjoy Oregon Trail music. It's not wrong. I think that's part of being a dad. Your kids have to hate the music that you listen to. We we my Oregon Trail music.
Thank you very much. Do, and that's okay. That's fine. You can still like it. We had a conversation with our friends about it.
Our friend, Doug Yeah. It was like an existential existential crisis for him. Right. He was worried how it was gonna affect other folks. He he really was worried about the butterfly effect of his decision.
Yeah. Yeah. Poor guy. I think he ultimately decided that he was gonna get rid of free fall. From Tom Petty, which is, woah.
Woah. Indeed. Woah. Like, even the just a Tom Petty song at all. Like, woah.
I know. I love Tom Petty, and I love that song. Yeah. That was bold. There was, our friend Tito picked Tubthumping.
From Chumbawamba, which it's a good song. I get knocked down He hates it. But I get up again. Hates it. It's just a song about try try again.
It's about resilience. What else is in there? Oh, the horse with no name. Yeah. My friend Christina picked that one.
My friend Andy picked what did he pick? Oh, he picked, sweet dis disposition Right. By temper trap. Yeah. Temper trap.
Right. There was also a don't stop believing in there by Journey, and mostly because that song has been overplayed. Right. What did our kids end up picking? Do you remember?
Everything on my playlist. Oh, no. Beck picked that Alanis Morissette song. Alright. He didn't like all the harmonica in it.
He's like, it has a harmonica solo. It has to go. You had a lot of harmonica songs yesterday. Well, but then I then it after he picked the songs that had harmonica in them, I literally just searched for harmonica and just started playing stuff Huge. That I knew he wouldn't like.
You're so rude. You're stuck in the car. What are you gonna do about it? Nothing. You're just gonna listen to harmonica solos.
Pretty great. Sandstorm. Get rid of it. No. It's good.
Yeah. And then it builds up to the big drop. I wish it would build up to disappear. Okay. Alright.
You know how you feel about sandstorm. Not even any words. No. I know it's EDM. Stupid.
You hate EDM so much. It's just noise. It's just noise. You are a, you are a fan of lyrics. You and I have had a discussion.
I like music too. I understand you like music, but you love a song you can, sing along to. You like a song that that hits you in the heartstrings. Yes. One of your favorite bands, you you said they speak to your soul.
If they were just playing the music and had no words, you wouldn't feel the same way Correct. About a band you like because it's the lyrics and the singing that do it for you. Yeah. That's why you don't like EDM because it's just music. But, also, it's just a bunch of different it's just noise.
Oh, we like this sound. Let's put this sound on top of it. Oh. Right. Let's put another sound on it.
Yeah. We started with drums, and then we added a bass, and then we added a guitar, and then we added another guitar, and then we sang on top of it. They just skipped the sang on top of it part. No. But it sounds good when there's a mel I feel like EDM has no melody.
There's no rhythm. Interesting. No melody. You can't follow along. Interesting.
Interesting. It's not interesting. It's awful. Alright. Well Go away, Darude.
You wanna talk, a little bit of football? Yes. In just a second? Sure, please. Because I I've got a a football thing.
I just wanna it's not like football stats or something that you're really gonna struggle to keep along with. Okay. This is just big news about, sales of NFL licensed merchandise and who is selling the most. For a long time Interesting. For the past few years, who's been on top of the list?
For the last couple of years? Yeah. I would say the Chiefs. And specifically Patrick Mahomes. Yes.
Okay. He's been top of the list. He is no longer top of the list. Oh. He has been dethroned.
So Justin Jefferson is number 10. Sick. Right? He's your buddy. He's my guy.
Right? And then we'll go through, like, Amon Ra Saint Brown is on the list. You do. I know you do. Josh Allen is number six.
Josh Allen is good. CJ Stroud is number five. I like CJ Stroud. Right? See?
I this is why I said it's easy to keep up with. Really easy. Right? Jaden Daniels, number four. I like Jaden Daniels.
Jalen Hertz, number three. I like Jalen Hertz. And I told you Mahomes is number two. Now what do you know about, the people I listed other than Justin Jefferson and Ahman Ross ain't Brown? They're all quarterbacks.
Correct. Number one, not a quarterback, not a wide receiver, and the only running back in the top 10. Is it interesting. Okay. I wanna take a guess.
What team is he from? Well, he spent six seasons with the New York Giants, but he's not a giant anymore. Is it Aaron? A great player. Is it Aaron Rodgers?
He joined the He said he wasn't a quarterback. That's right. He he, he didn't have great team success until he joined the team he is with last season. Oh, man. And Who was the team he was on last season?
And they got a Super Bowl victory. Oh, he's an Eagles guy. Yes. He's not a quarterback. Back running back for the Eagles.
Oh, Saquon. It's Saquon Barkley. Yeah. Saquon's a maniac. Of course, he's number one selling jersey.
Selling merchandise right now. He's an animal. Also, the cover of the new Madden game this year. Not the actual play we found out. Yeah.
But but they re they recreated it for a photo op for the cover of the of the game. Yeah. His reverse hurdle was insane. He's insane. On the cover.
He is. He's crazy. He was on my fantasy page. That's why I thought you'd be a little excited about it. And it was football in a way that you didn't have to get real deep in the weeds about it.
Yeah. Did you say demon in the weeds? Deep in the weeds. Yeah. Because I think I think far too often, we we get on our football kick, and you go like And demon in the weeds?
Was easy. You kinda do become a demon in the weeds about it. This is just easy stuff. Saquon Barkley running back for the Eagles is selling the most NFL licensed merchandise. Well done.
Right? Waited, dethrone Mahomes. Yeah. That makes me so happy. I'm so happy.
Pretty great. You know who's not in, the top 10 at all? Don't even say his name. Yeah. Because he's not in the top 10.
Oh. But he's not in the top 10. But you did like, the Harry was growing. You didn't mention that. Have you seen him lately with his great career?
He's number 11 on the list. I had to find out. That's okay. Jefferson is number 10. So That's right.
Joe Burrow is number 14, which is cool. I was trying to see Lamar Jackson. You like him. He's number 18. Brock Purdy is number 19.
So anyway 40 niners. Ew. Yeah. Now I will say, Mahomes has landed in the top five for seven years. Seven years in a row, he's been in the top five.
Else, he's landed in the top five. Most interceptions. And here we got in the weeds, you demon. You demon in the weeds. Hey.
Are you, are you ready for would you rather this or that or no? Are you? I am ready. Are you? Yeah.
I didn't know. You wanna do that? You wanna fresh remote. You wanna do would you rather this or that? I would.
Okay. Let's do it. Summer edition. Okay? It's not yet summer.
Well, I know. Summer's this week. Right? Like, June 20? I think so.
Is the summer solstice? Yeah. June 20. That is the longest day of the year. Friday.
Friday. K. Would you rather spend the day at a water park or a theme park? Like an amusement park, like rides and stuff. I'm going water park.
I know you would. You love a rate lazy river. I could stay in a lazy river all day. You love a lazy river. Love a lazy river.
Love a good water slide. No. You like a an okay water slide. I don't like it. You don't like the the dropout ones?
No. You don't like the ones that go super fast? You don't like the ones where the tubes have jumps on them? I like that toilet bowl one. Yeah.
Okay. I like those. But you don't like the the big, like, Drops? Well, the big what's the one that's like a big half pipe? Oh, no way.
That? So you don't like a good water slide. You love a lazy river Yes. Love it Yes. Tube or no tube?
I like to not tube it because You just like to swim through it and let it push you around. Yeah. I like to float in it. Yeah. So that's your thing Yeah.
More than anything else. Correct. So you're picking a water park, but what you really want is just a lazy, mean, lingering river. I want a lazy river all to myself is what I really want. Because I wanna be able to just float on my back and just float through that lazy river Yeah.
Without a bunch of kids rustling over a tube, flashing me in the face. I like when we're at the Lazy River and there's a little waterfall. I like putting you under that. They're almost drowning me. One time.
I also like a a splash, not a splash, a wave pool. I like wave pools. I think they're okay, like, once a trip. No. I like them.
Nah. I do. It's too many people. It is a lot of people. It's so many people in a wave pool.
It's fun. Same with a lazy river, honestly. That's insane. Many people. I just want a lazy river to myself.
Talk a little bit about the sanitary conditions of a public pool. Don't even ruin it. Parts per million. I have to Just parts per million. I have to not think about it.
Alright. Ignorant splits. I'm taking the, the other one. The theme park? The amusement park.
Okay. Well, because there's a lot more than just a a water park with other people. Like, it's other people, and you got lines, but there's thrill rides, carnivals, midways, food sweaty. All that stuff. Yeah.
Hats. So is a water park. Waiting and waiting. But then you all I also have to be in a swimsuit at a water park. Yeah.
I could just be in one after the theme park. I don't like that part either. But but then you're in a tube, and you're sliding down the slide. Yeah. Fun.
It's fun for a while. I don't know. I go, what are we doing? Let's go to the Lazy River. And then it's so hot on the pavement.
My feet hurt. Yeah. Get in the shade. Because I don't like flip flops. Plus, you can't wear flip flops at a water park when you're on the rides.
Okay. We know your answer. I just have chosen not water park. I get it. I enjoy it for a while.
And then I get in my head about it and go, what are we doing? So, yeah, I'm choosing to go to a water park choose the other one. Do I wanna go to a water park soon? Yeah. Not really.
Oh, man. I mean, maybe eventually, but not soon. Would you rather this or that? This is gonna be a story you love. Hines?
Nope. I can already tell I'm checking out because it's got something to do with ketchup. Yep. They're trying I don't like ketchup. Can normalize ketchup on eggs.
Stop it. I will not. That's a ruiner of eggs. They're adding labels that say breakfast ketchup to bottles at 100 different waffle houses around the country. They claim that one in four people use ketchup at breakfast.
I only use ketchup at breakfast when in four people? Potatoes, hash browns. Which is a great way to ruin hash browns. Ketchup is a ruiner of food. No.
On hash browns No. With a lot of pepper? No. Delicious. On eggs?
No. Never. They No. No. No.
Have a new ad campaign that says ketchup on eggs and even bacon makes it better. No. They're wrong. They are even changing the shape of their bottle to look like maple syrup bottles and changing the labels that say breakfast ketchup. No.
They say ketchup at breakfast should be the norm, not the exception. Here, have a ton of sugar in a tomato puree that makes everything taste like it. Ketchup. Gross. I wonder if ketchup sales are falling, and this is their way of, like No.
I'm sure ketchup's big ketchup's doing just fine. This is just big ketchup trying to be bigger. We want more ketchup, we got it. Greedy ketchup. Yeah.
This is the Heinz company going, you can have ketchup at every meal. One in four people using ketchup. Come on. Eggs. Gross.
My brother used to do that. Everything ketchup touches tastes like ketchup, and it doesn't taste good. Would you eat a bunch of ketchup by itself? No. Then why are you putting it on stuff?
Because everything it touches turns to ketchup. Just potatoes. Turn to ketchup. Potatoes need a little help. No.
They don't. Yeah. They do. No. They don't.
They're kinda blah. No. And then when you add ketchup, pizzazz. If you're if you're not having pizzazz without ketchup, you're not eating good potatoes. You gotta season your potatoes.
You should have all kinds of seasonings in your potatoes so that they're fine by themselves. If you're getting bad hash browns, that's on your that's your fault. Big ketchup on potatoes just gives it, like, sha bing. No. It doesn't.
It doesn't sha bing it at all. It's so bad. And this is this is just a marketing ploy for Heinz to get more of your money. They want your breakfast money. They do want your breakfast money.
Don't give it to us. Who's dominated the breakfast game? Gravy. Biscuits and gravy syrup. And and maple syrup and hollandaise sauce.
There's been a lot of things in breakfast, and ketchup's been around. Tabasco. Tabasco on a little bit of Tabasco on eggs isn't bad. It gives them a little bit of a kick. I put a little bit on a hash brown.
I I would do that, but that's not even close to what ketchup does. Ketchup is not it. Pizzazz. I got this delicious hot dog. Now I've turned it into ketchup.
Gross. I despise ketchup. I know you do. That's why I wanted to talk about it. Thanks for leaving the show on that.
We gotta go. Okay. Yuck. Have a great rest of your Monday. Bye.
Stay away from the ketchup at all times a day. Unless you're eating potatoes. Gross. Don't like ketchup. Anyway, see you tomorrow.
