Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

By calm, simple faith the soul holds communion with God and gathers
to itself rays of divine light to strengthen and sustain it in the conflict
with Satan. God is our tower of strength. – Steps to Christ, pg. 98
“Stop right there!”
Frozen in my tracks, I lifted my hands in the air as the cold tip
of the sword nudged the back of my neck.
“Surrender now!” The bold voice viciously demanded.
For a few seconds, my heavy breathing was the only thing that
could be heard as dead silence took over.
Maliciously grinning, I whispered, “Never!” Swirling my sword,
I whirled around as the blade smashed into my opponent’s chest.
“Kids, it’s time for lunch!” my mom called out. Dropping his
plastic sword on the ground, my friend, Tomás dashed for the kitchen.
Removing my helmet and placing my cardboard shield onto the pile of
toys, I hurried to gulp down my bowl of soup and get back to the game.
We would challenge each other to a duel and “fight to the death.”
Even though the game was just pretend, the intense heat of
battle pervaded the room as neither of us would back down. The threat
and humiliation of defeat drove us to give our utmost to the mock
battle being fought. Even as our plastic weapons clunked and sweat
dropped from our foreheads, another conflict—a cosmic battle—was
being fought at that very moment.
The forces of good and evil clash deliberately as God and
Satan duel for every man’s soul. At times, Satan may appear to
triumph, but on the cross with His last breath, Jesus delivered the
knockout blow and sealed our victory.
