We're back in the car with my little gizmo.
Callum Walker:And, yeah, I always love recording my podcast in the car, I must say. But yeah, anyway, what is today all about? Well, first of all, I just wanna kind of share with you that it is absolutely stunning driving down here. I mean, of all of the of all of the drives that one could do, going up the M 40 is absolutely lovely because it's so green. It's so green and it's just so yeah.
Callum Walker:It's so nice to almost kind of drive down. I've got the sun's coming down. We're getting close ish to sunset. And It's it's beautiful. But anyway, so I've got two things I wanna share with you.
Callum Walker:First thing I wanna kind of share is maybe for yourself or even for your clients. Eating on the go. Eating on the go. So I'm just driving driving from London back to Birmingham because I've got my elite coach event. It feels like I haven't seen my guys in ages.
Callum Walker:Like even though we have a like we have a session every single week online, it feels like I just haven't seen everyone in ages because the last time we did a full meetup in person was back in February. I can't believe it. So yeah. So I can't wait to see them. And I've had a really really busy day.
Callum Walker:I, you know, I delivered a free master class today. That was about three hours. So that was a lot of talking, a lot energy. So Callum decides to just get on podcast and carry on. But but yeah, I I knew that I didn't have time to make any food at home but didn't panic about it.
Callum Walker:Like I never panic about it anymore. Not that I kinda have but I know that like eating on the go can be a real challenge for people. Whether it's yourself, whether it's your clients. And I actually really like eating on the go because I think that now there really are like such a variety of options that you do have available to you. Like there is so much that you can grab.
Callum Walker:So you know, if I almost kinda like articulate a couple of things that I always kinda grab. So you know down the M 40, I am very blessed very blessed and we're by Beckinsfield Services. And if you've been to Beckinsfield Services just off the M 40 outside of London, it is the world's greatest service station. Like it really really is. You know, there's a nanda they've got a nandos there.
Callum Walker:They got a nandos there. They got a Marks and Spencer's there. You know, if if I was into shit food, there's a McDonald's, a KFC, there's chopsticks, there's everything. But specifically, there's a little fast food joint that is really really great and it's called Leon. Now I have absolutely nothing to do with Leon by the way.
Callum Walker:Maybe that's something I'd like to do eventually. But I have nothing to do with Leon from a commercial perspective. I couldn't recommend them enough because when it comes to almost like eating on the go, I think like service stations are really good now. You know, like pretty much every services on the motorway has got either a mini Marks and Spencer's or a mini Waitrose. And you can grab a little deli thing.
Callum Walker:So I know for myself like yesterday, I wasn't really kind of feeling like a hot meal while I was driving, but I went into the little Mark's suspense. I got some olives. I got a packet of chicken, and I got a little bottle of kefir. And it was just a really easy way of having a low carb meal that gave me my protein, gave me my fat, gave me some probiotics, suppressed my appetite, didn't cost me an arm and a leg. And and it was just easy.
Callum Walker:And I think that when, you know, when I hear people say like, oh, know, eating on the go is really really hard and, you know, I just can't eat on the go. Like, it's bullshit because there are so many options available now and you're making a choice whether you're gonna have a sandwich or not. Like you don't have to have a sandwich. There's so many options. So like I know for myself, I'll always go for a protein source and a fat source.
Callum Walker:And I think that that like, you know, if I can get anything else, then that's like an additional little bonus. But I know for yourself, always go searching for a protein source and a fat source. Why? Well, one because it will suppress your appetite more than anything, but also just give you that consistent stable energy. I think that like, you know, when we're looking at your own mental performance, if you're having peaks and troughs, ups and downs, you know, throughout, throughout the day, you've got to get off the carb train.
Callum Walker:Like you've got to. In the daytime, I did a podcast episode on this previously. Don't forget that your your level of adrenaline, I. E. The amount of energy that your nervous system kind of has throughout the day to be awake, alert, aware, the amount of adrenaline that you have flowing throughout your body is directly correlated to the amount of sugar that's in your blood.
Callum Walker:So if your blood sugar is high, adrenaline is low. If your blood sugar is low, adrenaline is high. So if you're constantly, you know, on this sort of like, you know, rise and crash, rise and crash, your blood sugars going up and down which means your adrenaline is going up and down. So you're just on this constant roller coaster. Whereas if you can be consistent with just throughout the daytime having low carb, high fat, higher protein sources, well, one the obvious one is that it'll help suppress and satisfy your appetite so you're not, you know, feeling the need to constantly snack throughout the day.
Callum Walker:But then also, it's a way of nourishing yourself. It's a way of satisfying your appetite without curbing that adrenaline, without dropping it. Like, you know, I've literally just eaten. I went to Leon and I was fortunate that I had a hot meal. I have my protein and I had my fat source that I had.
Callum Walker:They do this little like these little pots. They call it chicken meze, but basically it's like cooked chicken thighs. So it's just chicken thighs that have been done on like on the grill and this one was like marinated in paprika. It tastes tasted amazing like it's hot. It took probably about from order to to me collecting it.
Callum Walker:It probably took like five minutes. Yeah. So I was eating it within like five minutes. And then I had their like they've got this satay sauce and I had that with it. So I had two pots of that.
Callum Walker:I've got my protein and my fat in the chicken thighs and I've got my fat in the the satay. I feel great. I feel high in energy. I really really enjoyed it. I think it cost me like what £9 for like the meal.
Callum Walker:You try getting a meal for £9 these days especially in the services like you're not. Especially one that's nutritionally sound. So I'll always go for a protein source and a fat source. Like yesterday, got a pack of chicken, I got some olives. You know, I could have got some halloumi, some dark chocolate in terms of the fat sources, nuts, a bottle of kefir.
Callum Walker:Sometimes you can get yogurt, while you're out there, deli meats. You know, there's so many things like cheeses. There's so things that you can have now. So, yeah, I wanted to kinda like, you know, share that with you in terms of if you are traveling around quite a lot. I promise you one thing that will save you money and also time also it will keep energy within you is making sure that you're going for a protein source and a fat source.
Callum Walker:Now don't be the, you know, the bog standard personal trainer who just go, I'll get a protein bar. Like don't go and get a protein bar because it literally just gives you protein. That's it. There's no other additional nutrients. It's not really kind of serving you.
Callum Walker:It's just kind of like helping the gains bro. Do you know what I mean? So so yeah. So if you are kind of out traveling quite a lot, definitely keep your eye out for a services for with a Leon. It's quite funny because me and Alice like, we'll always kind of when we're driving, we'll always keep our eye out for you know when you've got those signs that almost kind of say like you know this is what's gonna be at this service.
Callum Walker:It's we'll always keep our eye out for one that has a Leon because it's different. We see them we go oh we'll stop there because we love a Leon. They just do loads of really good things in there like lower carb meals. You can buy cans of Dash as well. I absolutely love that.
Callum Walker:But if you can't get like a hot meal, you know, pretty much every services has like a mini little M and S or a mini little like Waitrose. But even just out and about like, you know, mini Tesco, mini Sainsbury's, mini Morrisons, you know, whatever it is, you can always get a good solid low carb, high protein, high fat source that will really really kind of help you. So so yeah, just a little tip. This one's nice and short today. Nice and short.
