what's going on, my man?Hey, man, it's been a fantastic day out here today, and I cannot wait to hear what we are gonna hear today. It's gonna be amazing.Well, man, uh, you, you gotta- you got an all-star here.Uh, you know, we've got Amber Purcell, one of D Magazine's Best 2025 over at Monument, and she is in the house today.Welcome to the show, Amber. We're so glad to have you here.Thank you.Thank you so much.I am so honored to be here.Um, this was just a incredible, um, another God thing, so this is awesome.Well, you know, when you're out there and good- doing good things for good people, you know, good things just happen in return. And that's why we wanted to spotlight you today, uh, just because you're out there doing some amazing things. And, you know, I'm, I know at the end of the day, there's people going, "Man, how did she do it?"You know, "How did she pull this off?How did she do this in such a quick period of time?"Because something that I know about you that our listeners may not know is that this is a newer career for you.You have not been doing this for decades.Am I correct about that? You are absolutely correct about that. So, um, I actually have only been a real estate agent for a little over two and a half years.Um, so I- Let's go.Just getting started.Um, prior to, uh, being a real estate agent, I was a waitress at Olive Garden for 13 years.Um, and then COVID had hit and we got locked into our home.I'm originally from, like, start from the beginning, right?Where do you- No, no, let's go back.Where are you from originally, Amber?Let's take it all the way back. All right, so, uh, I'm originally from California.Um, I was born and raised, in California.I was born at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in LA.From there, I moved to, uh, Apple Valley, which is kind of like the San Bernardino area. It's like the high desert. And then from there, I moved from one desert to another desert.Uh, I moved from Lan- to Lancaster and Palmdale area, um- I gotta ask you a quick question. You said Cedar-size, Cedar, what is it?Sinai. Is that, is that right outside of Beverly Hills? It is.It's in- I've been to that hospital one time, and I gotta tell you the story really quick 'cause you just, you derailed me when you said that.Yeah.Uh, my wife and I were in California for a sales event. We'd just rented a Ferrari. She was 8 months pregnant, and because of the ride over, not in the Ferrari, to pick up the Ferrari, she had gotten, it'd- it made her sick. And we had to take the Ferrari, we'd just rented it, straight to that hospital. So I've been there.I've been there, and, uh, my baby is perfectly healthy. He's 3 years old now, and, uh, you know, yeah.So that was just recent? It was fairly recent, yeah.So when you said that, I'm like, I'm having flashbacks of driving up the driveway in a Ferrari.Wow, at Cedar-Sinai Hospital.Yes, it does That's funny. So, okay.Well let's go back to, we went from one desert to the next desert, and now where are we?So now, I am living in Texas.Um, I moved here about just a little, it'll be 3 years October 24th that we moved here.Great month, by the way.I was born in October, so you, you picked a great month to move here.Nice.No kidding.Um, the day we were unloading our truck, it was raining, thundering, and lightning, all at the same time.Hmm.It was- It just sounds too easy.It was.Too easy.WellMoving day, disaster.Yeah.Yes.Um, so that's where I came from, uh, California, and then, so when COVID had hit, my husband is like, "Get your license and do your dream job."And so, I was like, "Okay."I, I didn't think that I could ever do something like real estate. It wasn't anything that I had ever, thought about doing. It was, I always thought that I was just gonna be a waitress, because it was so easy, the hours were fluctual, you know, things like that, and so it just worked for my family just to do waitressing. So I really thought I was gonna be a waitress my whole life.Well, let's talk about that. So, you said dream job.So, what made real estate your dream job, right?Like, you know, you were a young girl just dreaming about selling houses. Is that how it all got started?Yeah, so I just, I love, like, the interior design, like, when you walk into a home and it just feels like a home.I love the journey of it, like, helping people, like, I am a, I'm a people pleaser person, and I enjoy helping others, and so for me, it was, I was always afraid of, like, the thick stacks of all the paperwork, and like, "How can I do that?"Mm-hmm.You know, and never counted myself to do something crazy like this.Yeah.Well, you know, at the end of the day, sometimes we don't feel qualified, and then you find yourself smack dab in the middle of it, and you realize, actually, I'm more than qualified.I'm more than qualified.Yeah, and I'm out there really helping people, and that's something that I think, you know, based on our conversation before the podcast, that's always been really important to you, is, is being able to help people, and, uh, you know, that's part of what maybe led you here?Yes, 100%.So, um, fast forward, uh, I got- I had got my real estate license in California.I did it for about 7 months.I was at, uh, Berkshire Hathaway, um, and then, uh, my husband's like, "Okay, we're gonna move to Texas."So, I had thought, you know, I could just transfer everything over, but that was not the case.Mm.Um, so I had to start all over.I did all my schooling, all of my, um, exams, state and national all over again, um, because it was a completely different state, different laws- Yeah.all of those things. So, it took me back just a little bit, but honestly, I learned more at Monument through the program that they serve in 30 days than I did a whole- almost a whole year at that other brokerage that I was at.That's awesome. That's awesome.I cannot throw names out there, right? So I'm trying to be very discreet, butUh, no, I totally respect where you're coming from, but, uh, you know, Monument definitely has a great training program, uh, located right here in the heart of Dallas, Texas at The Star and, uh, man, they're doing some great things over there. So, you made the decision to transition to the team. You got some great training and, uh, where do we go from there? So, um, uh, I'm- I've been a agent for just a little over 2 years now, and I- I just- I went through their 30-day program and they give you- they- that's when they start to give you leads and so you're required to have 6 closings in 6 months.Gives you about, uh, closing a month.Well, I did 7 in 6 months- Let's go.and graduated the program- What are you doing?and I just took it from there.I mean, it was just, like, instantly I just, my business has just flown. That's amazing. That's amazing. So, came in there, hitting strides right out of the starting gate and, you know, that gets you to D's Best 2025.How'd that feel?Amazing.Um, so before that had happened, um, I got a call from, uh, Real Top Producers, um, and so they asked my story. They wanted to know- Daddy.Excuse me.Pleasedo not disturb. This is my- Should we grab our camera?Let them know they're live right now.Jackson, I'm live right now, so could you please?Thank you.way, I am a mother of 4 boys.I was gonna say, you're doing it all while being a parent.I have 4 boys.My oldest is 23 in the Navy.I have a 19-year-old that started his own, um, uh, business as a personal coach, and then I have a 12-year-old and that's in middle school, and a 6yearold that just came home from school, soWell, I think I got something for your 6yearold.Can he hear us right now?He can.Let's just, you knowLet's get ready to rumble.'Cause that's what I hear in the background.think he's having more fun than we are.WellHe's playing his Minecraft. You know, I've got, just so you know, uh, so we're all on the same page, I've got an 11-year-old and a 9yearold at home, so, uh, at the end of the day, like, I'm used to having kids around and you- you know, it- it can be tough, right?Because you're- you're a mother, but at the same time, you're out there, you know, serving the people and, you know, ultimately what's that balancing act look like?Like, how do you pull that off?I mean, obviously during the podcast we still got kids in the background, right? But, like, you know, on the day-to-day, how do you do that? How do you be Super Mom and super realtor simultaneously?I just try to, I mean, I wake up every day and I say, "God give me the strength to get through this day.I don't know what this day is going to look like. How many showings am I going to do?""How late am I gonna be home? What am I picking up for dinner?"Sometimes I'm home a little early and I'm whipping up something.Um, Home Chef, by the way, is great.Um, and so-yeah, I just, I just try to just, I just take it moment by moment and day by day.I just- Yeah.I just do it.I don't think about it.I, I just do it, really.Um- I love that. So, uh, back to, uh, so I had a call from Real Top Producers, um, magazine and they asked me who I am, where'd I come from, what's my story. And so they were very intrigued by, I mean, so many, honestly, I get so many calls of how, how my name, my number come across their, their desk, you know?Right. And so, um, they did.I'll just show you a quick little, uh, clip, but this is me, uh, Amber Purcell. And so they gave me a title at the Rising Star Realtor.Um, and so this is my 4page that they did.So- That's amazing.this whole story and that's my family.I love it.And that is my grandbaby right there.Nice.And then that's the end of it right there, so, and- Hear what I got to say about that.love it.absolutely love it.Yeah.So you get in the industry, you're making big strides, you get a call, you do a, a full photo shoot with the family and a 4page write-up.Yeah.And, uh, you know, how's that feel? How's that feel to, like, get, you know? It's such a, it's, like, out of a body experience. It's so, like, overwhelming with, like, joy and gratitude.I think that's, like, where the biggest part of, like, who I am as a person is, is my, my gratitude and my thankfulness and how everything has kind of just flourished and into this amazing journey for me- Yeah.helping people. And now, not only, like, so a- at Monument, they do give us leads, but we have to convert those leads, right? So you have, like, a 3second time to introduce yourself as, you know, "Hi, I'm Amber Purcell, an agent at Monument.I'm here to help you and open the door for you.And please sign this new buyer's representation agreement. You don't know me and I don't know you."How, how hard do I work, you know? You, you just have that 3 seconds to impress somebody.Yeah.And I feel like first impressions last forever. And so not only is it the first impression, but it's the entire journey that I'm there with you and beyond.Like, I always, when I'm in a roomSomebody once told me that if you are the smartest person or the richest person in the room, you're in the wrong room.Mm-hmm.Oh, amen, amen. You have to learn, you have to learn how to grow and beOnce you're maxed out, you're maxed out. What else is there?Yeah. You know? And so I enjoy learning.I enjoy growing.Um, I like to listen to others.I like to follow, and I also like to lead. And so I think with real estate, being a real estate agent, God gives you all of those things that you get to do.You get to shine your light with Him, you get to lead, you get to follow, you get to listen.Amen.And you get to hand people a key-firsttime home buyers are, like, my absolute favorite to work with because it's like a new chapter. It's their- Yeah.new journey, it's their new everything. And so handing keys over to somebody on that closing day, it just brings my heart so much joy.Well, you know, Amber, I say this all the time, you know, people always associate, you know, your house as your biggest purchase. And, you know, it's something that, you know, is scary for a lot of people, but I think it's more than just your biggest purchase, right? And, and it's, it's your home.Yeah.Like, it's where you're gonna break bread. It's where you're gonna have laughter and, and clearly in the background and arguments. And you're gonnaYou're gonna have good times and you're gonna have bad times. You're gonna have your family there and, you know, you're gonna experience your holidays and all the amazing moments of your life.Like, why shouldn't that experience - and I love that you used that term - be a, an amazing experience?Right.Um, now I want to rewind this a little bit because you left a big cliffhanger, and you may not have even known it, but you said, "In the 3 seconds that I have to capture that client and get them to actually be captivated by what I have to say," um, you know, what does that 3 seconds sound like, right?I'd love to know how you've, how you've adapted to, "I've got 3 seconds to win this person over."H- How do you do it?What's that sound like?Uhme. You didn't know I was gonna put you on the spot, did you?No, it's j- it's just me.So, um, from the moment- We could role play.Yeah, we could role play.So I'm a new customer, uh, came in through a lead, and you're reaching out to me.I'm looking at purchasing a new home in Collin County.Mm-hmm.And I want to spend somewhere around $660,000.Um, what does that call sound like? You're, you're dialing me up.Or am I calling you?How does that s- how does that work?Okay.ItEither way.Hi, Devin. This is Amber Purcell with Monument Realty.I heard that you were referred to me by Jerry, and I want to thank Jerry for referring me, uh, first and foremost.Uh, I see here that you would like a criteria of a four bedroom, 3 bathroom home. And your, um, buying power, I don't ever say your budget, right?Your buying power, I give themI want them to make them feel like they have power as well, right? You don't ever wanna say it's a budget.A budget is kind of like a, kind of a word that people just don't like to live by, a budget. So I just say, like, "Your buying power."And so, um, "I, I'm gonna go send you over some homes. If there's any homes that you may see on the internet, you can just send me over the address and I'll, I'll book it right away for you."And so, um, that's just kinda basically what I do is I just book it right away and then, I- if you're texting me, I'm gonna respond back to you.I think that's, like, the biggest part of being a real estate agent in your business is always answering your phone, always responding to your text messages. And you have to be n- not pushy, but just persistent, right? And you just have to do it with gratitude. And so, I feel like, uh, the way that when you work with me is working with somebody completely different.I don't know.Yeah.You, you didWhenever I first called you and we started talking- Mm-hmm.your, the way that you spoke and whatthe words you used were so much different than I've noticed from others, especially that are in that 2year f- time frame or 3 years or less, which I always look at.If you can make it over the 3year hump, you're in a good success that you've got it well before that 3year mark, which is amazing.listen to the way you say it, like using your buying power versus budget.Mm-hmm.You're using more positive words versus using the, uh, the ones that makes you feel weighted down. It's like saying, "I gotta do the dishes," instead of, "I get to do the dishes-" Right.because I love e- making food, right? It, it's, it's using your words. And I don't s- hear this a lot in the ages.I, I've been doing this for 22 years.Mm-hmm.And when we talked and I knowI knew your numbers, I saw the stuff and it's like, "Man, she's amazing."But hearing how you did it, what you're doing has been, uh, phenomenal 'cause, uh, you know, you've been very successful. With the other agents that you're working with that's in your office or that you know, they're in that same kind of, you know, 2yearish time frame, you know, how would youwhat would you say to them right now that could help them to be another Amber? It's gonna be hard, I know.I know.'Cause you are the, you are the bomb.Well, yeah. The stepping stones, right?Yeah.Think about that, Amber. When you were first getting started, you know, c- and I know it's only been a couple of years.Yeah.But if somebody had told you this, it could have amplified and made things happen faster for you.Oh, yeah. Most definitely.I justI, it happened so fast for me and I think- Okay. So, but why? What do you think it was that made it happen so fast for you?Right?I know you had gr- joined a great firm and they gave you great training, right? But outside of that.I never said no.I never said no.I always said yes.I always said yes to open houses.I, I would do anywhere between 3 to 4 a weekend.I never said no, I wasn't gonna meet a client, no matter how far or how long the drive was going to be.I never said no for any amount, whether it was a $60,000 lead or a $250,000 lead.I never said no.I just neverI never said no.That's huge.So you were kinda likeWhat I'm picturing is you were Jim Carrey on Yes Man, and you're like-"Yes, man.Yes, man.Yes, I will do it.I'm gonna drive to Fort Worth and back.I'm gonna show you whatever house that you want.I'm gonna be there on the weekends to show a property because I'm gonna do what it takes to be successful."Let me ask you a question, because this is not a characteristic that a lot of people have.Where did you get the drive to do that? Was itSay, where youit was sink or swim, you have to do it, right?Or is it just inside of you?Is it a burning desire that you have for success? It is a burning desire I have for success.I mean, it has a little bit of both, I think.Um, as you can see, like with thewhen they asked me to, um, do the magazine, they also wanted a story and they wanted it to be different. And so- Mm-hmm.I, I created about it and I thought outside of the box and it's like, "Okay, Amber, who are you and what, what are you doing?"You know. And so, I used to do beauty pageants. And so, my mom used to put me in front of the grocery stores, and I would have to sell raffle tickets in order to get into, enter into my beauty pageants. And if I didn't sell my raffle tickets, I wasn't going to do it.So, I think it, the, the hunger and the drive and the, the like, just the go-getter, hustler, whatever you wanna call it- Yeah.came out of like my younger years, and I've always just been a hard worker.Uh, even when I worked at Olive Garden, so I was at Olive Garden for 13 years, and when I, I was also, in my journey, I was a single mom at some point, and I would work at Olive Garden in the day, and I would cocktail waitress at night.Mm-hmm.There are things in my life that has led me to just wanna do better, wanna be better, be more successful.Like I said, I get into rooms of other people that are smarter than me, that are, you know, that are bigger than me.More qualified, right? They're techni- technically more qualified, right?Correct. And so, I just learn and I listen and I- Definitely.pay attention and I just put it to work. Why would I ask you this? And I know we touched on it earlier, but, you know, we go back to when you were still waitressing. And maybe we've got somebody that's listening in or listens to this at a later date, and they're in the same boat. They're like, "This isn't it.There's more for me.I know there's more I can do out there."What was it that gave you the power to make that transition?I know we touched on this a little bit, right? And then again, you know, go back to that and say, like, how did you just manifest it to happen?'Cause I have a feeling that some of what you did was just manifested out of your pure belief in yourself. But I wanna hear your side of that story.Yeah, so I am a big person on like a vision board manifestation, like what is th-, what is it that you want, where do you see yourself?Another thing, too, is like so many people try to eat a whole elephant without taking chunks off of it, right?Hmm.They wanna just go from, "Okay, I'm a real estate agent. Now I wanna drive a Mercedes."And they go, like, "Okay, I'm a real estate agent. Now I wanna buy my million dollar home. Now I'm a real estate agent and I wanna, you know, do all these things."But that's not what real estate agentsIt's not like that. It's not- Yeah. It's more, we are way more than that. We, there are, I mean, there are times where you have to, like, leave a family function because you have to go show a property. There's late nights. There's sometimes the kids are gonna have some cereal for dinner. There's, I mean, it's, it's a journey. It's a hustle, it's a drive, it's a ambition, it's, you have to have it all.If you don't have it all, then you won't succeed in it.Yeah.Well, eh, that goes back to the pure drive. We talk about this all the time. And, you know, you can want it all you want, but if you're not gonna have, if you don't have the drive, right? And, and I know this, it's a, sometimes it sounds a little morbid, but like, you almost have to want it as much as you wanna breathe air, right?Like, you, you have to have that, that, that confidence inside that I want this so bad that I would fight for my last breath to make this happen.Yeah.And, you know, when you have that type of desire, this is where amazing things happen. And, you know, like you said, you weren't always the smartest person in the room.Sometimes you felt under-qualified.But what you did that was so smart was you took a step back and said, "I can learn from these people.I can take what I learn from these people and take action and adapt it into my workflow," right? And you kept entering these rooms that were bigger than you, until you got bigger than the room, and then you just go to the next one, right?Correct. And I just, um, uh, to, to add to that story, so I had a lead that I met back in May.And, um, we met at the house. It was a quick, like, okay, he signed the buyer's rep, no big deal. And then, little did I know, he had a, a, a agent on the side.Like, he had somebody else that he was kinda talking to.So he completely just forgot about, like, just wasn't going to use me, even though I had the buyer's rep, but sometimes they only make it for a short time or what have you.So months, months went by, obviously, and all of a sudden, I get a text message and it, it's him.And he, and he's like, "Hey, can I see this property?"And I was like, "Okay, sure.No problem."So, I just picked it up as if I had never s-, I haven't even met him, right?I just picked it up just as aAnd so, anyways, I, I talked to him, and I asked him, you know, like, "What happened?"And he was like, "Oh, I fired my other agent."And I'm like, "Oh, okay."Um, he's like, "Yeah, they cost me, you know, 2 deals," or whatever. And I'm like, "Wow.Okay."So, I knew the value, and when you work with me, it's a whole different experience and, and we're gonna see it to the finish line, right? And so, anyways, we closed on his house yesterday, as a matter of fact.Let's go.And this morning I woke up from a text message from his brother wanting to see a property. So, not only he was just like, "Amber, thank you so much.Like, you're so quick to respond.Like, this wouldn't have happened if I didn't have you as my agent."And like, you know, 'cause sometimes otherYou just never know whatAnd I don't like, I don't ever talk bad about other agents but- No, you can't.They're, they're just notThere, there's agents out there that just don't want to do their job the way that their job needs to be done.Well, let me ask- They-you this question. You know, and again, you may not know exactly, but what, what would you say, 'cause again, you said he's had to fire a couple of different agents before he came back to you. What was the difference once we land in, we've got him, that you were able to do to help him lead him to the property that you think they were not doing? What was that special formula that happened?I was just on it.I, I was quick to respond.I reached out to the listing agent, uh, right away, like right in front of him, and said, "Hey, do you have any other offers on this house?Okay, we're gonna go home. We're gonna write it up."We actually drove around the corner to the closest restaurant and wrote the offer right then and there.I wasn't gonna waste- Mm-hmm.any time, like, because this house had just went on the market.And- Yeah.if you can see, interest rates are dropping, the market is heating up.I mean, I, I've, I have been so busy in this past week, I, I, I can't even wrap my- So, urgency-The fact that you understand the urgency and, you know, you didn't push it off and go, "Yeah, we'll take care of that tonight.I'll get an offer over later."No, I'm gonna drop what I'm doing right now because you want this property, and if there's a chance that we're gonna get it for you, I'm gonna make that happen. That's exactly my mindset.Yeah.That's exactly my mindset.I will do whatever it takes to, on my end, that I can do to make this happen for them.Well, and I always like to throw a disclaimer in there, and I think you live by this as well.As long as it's legal, moral and ethical, right? We'll do whatever it takes'Cause I know you, you know, I can tell you, you've got faith, right? So at the end of the day, I'm gonna throw that in there for you.Amber will do anything as long as it's legal, moral and ethical to help- Right.you get into your home, right? So just, we'll throw a disclaimer on that one. They also, they also feel it too.Like it's, it's not just, it's not just, like we, my clients don't ever feel like they're alone in the journey.Like I'm there with them 100% by their side.Yeah.Especially people that are first time home buyers. They have no idea, and I guide them, I hold their hand and all of those things. But even on the hard times where it's like, "I'm sorry, they went with another offer."One time I, I, uh, I just started crying, like crying hard. And my husband's like- Yeah."Why are you crying?"And I was like, "They accepted another and they didn't accept our offer."And she loves this home. And, and, and I feel the emotion that my clients-But then after I talk to my clients and, and we got back on the horse again, so to speak, and we found another home even better than the first one, that I was crying over for them. You know?So I just, I, I'm, I'm in the journey with them throughout the entire process and beyond.Like- Well-I want to be top of mind for them. It, it's no question as to why you're having such great success. It's 'cause you care about it just as much as they do.Yeah.And that shows. And people can read authenticity, right?Yeah. And you're, create who you are.As an entrepreneur, when, when people think of th- your logo, your, all the things- It's your brand.Your brand.Your brand.Yeah.A- and so you're like, "What am I gonna do?"And so for me, it was a star. From the very beginning, it was just a symbol of a star. And so, I asked, I asked God, "What is a star?"Like, I looked it up, I Googled it.And what is it?It's a situation, that takes a task, that creates the action to get the result.Mm.And so, for me, that wasI was like, "Okay, that's it.I'm gonna have a star in my brand."And so, when I moved to Texas, here I am in Texas at the step?Where do you see yourself taking- Mm.your car to?Whoa. That's a, that's a really good question 'cause it's like, I get asked that more often than not, honestly.Go to your vision board.And- What's your vision board say?Well, I've checked off 7 things off my vision board.Whoo.And used theSo now, I gotta make a new vision board for 2026.So I gotta really, like, sit and think about it.And what I was saying prior to is that, like, so many people, likeI, I know not to eat the whole elephant at once.I know to take it off by chunks.Yeah.Where I see myself in the next 2 to 3 years, I wanna be in, like, luxury.I want to elevate my business.I want to keep rising up and just being the best that I can be every day, and shining God's light, and just- Amen.being, being me.I don't know, likeYou know
