We are going to jump from the frying pan straight into the flames of a different fire in this next episode, as Janelle delves deeper into another dragon line in England and how she explores and works with the energy at sacred sites along this path. This show is about pushing limits into the unknown, discovering who we really are, and celebrating the moments that make us feel alive. So let's get into it.
This is Janelle. Just to recap, in episode 11, I went to Ireland in 2015 and tried to check out the Michael Apollo line that spans from Ireland to Israel. So I began in Ireland at Skellig Michael, but was unsuccessful there. But it gave me a hankering to explore some of these lines further, these ley lines, where there are spots along this straight line of alignment. There's dedications to Archangel Michael with churches, and at other places it's dedicated to Apollo from Greek mythology with temples. I am now going to take a few episodes in a row to talk about another line that I visited and worked with. So, in 2017, I went to England with a friend. The goal was to follow the Michael Mary line that runs across southern England. So, it begins at the furthest tip of Cornwall at Saint Michael's Mount. So you may remember me talking about Saint Michael's Mount because it was one of places on the line that we stopped at for the Michael Apollo line. This other line, the Michael Mary line, is St Michael's Mount is part of both lines, so to be clear. So the one you know it runs in a straight line through from St Michael's Mount, Cadbury Castle, Glastonbury, Avebury, before exiting out the east coast of England at Hopton in Norfolk, so the Michael and Mary line is about 350 miles, you know, in length. A guy named Alfred Watkins described the sacred places across southern England. The you know they were marked by stone circles, standing stones, churches. So what I'm referring to is a second Michael line that also now includes a Mary line that weaves in and out and around the Michael line in southern England. This line was discovered and mapped by John Mitchell in the 1960s, and then Broadhurst and Miller in 1989 and 2000, when they published two books, which was compiling all of their dowsing of the legends and the folklore, the archeological excavations, the dowsing to determine this vast, you know, network linking Neolithic Celtic, early Christian sacred places that were arranged along this line, stretching across southern England. So the second book was about these men dowsing the Michael and Apollo line, so I'm hoping that's clear enough to everybody. The difference between the two lines, Saint Michael's Mount is a fascinating, powerful place energy-wise. If you were to Google it, you would see this massive, beautiful structure created on an island, and it's just it's magical. But it's also important because it's where the two lines interact. A Michael Apollo line goes from west in Ireland to east in Israel, and then at Saint Michael's Mound, the Michael Mary line starts to come up through southern England. Saint Michael's Mount has both of the lines. That's where you know those two lines connect. Is at Saint Michael's Mount, which makes it extra extra special. The female Mary line that goes across England, like I said, it weaves around the masculine Michael line, and there are important crossing points where the masculine and feminine lines meet up. These are especially powerful places along the line. Wherever the Michael Mary lines crossed over, the dowsers found a powerful energy place marked by a stone circle, standing stone, a castle, a church, a cathedral, a tor, which we'll get into a little later, and underground chamber, just to give you an idea of some different things. The Mary Line connects sites linked to Mother Mary, but there's like also a strong reference to Mary Magdalene, especially at Glastonbury, due to her strong connections to the area and folklore.
Janelle 05:52
So just to be clear, there are quite a few crossing points, like 17 of them by some accounts, with some being more important than others, I am just sharing info on the ones that I actually traveled to and experienced directly. So I followed the Michael Mary line up the crossing points. So I started in Saint Michael's Mount, worked my way up through Cadbury Castle, Glastonbury, and finished in Avebury Stone Circle. As I've mentioned in previous episodes, St Michael's Mount is a tidal island. When we arrived, we took the boat over to it because you couldn't walk, but we were able to walk back on the causeway at low tide. It's kind of mucky, but overall, it was a beautiful walk. So there was a pillar at Saint Michael's Mount, marking the exact location where the fishermen had an encounter with Archangel Michael, basically with him telling them that a church needed to be built there, so I didn't have a lot of time there, but I made the most of my time at Saint Michael's Mount. Cadbury Castle is linked to Arthurian legends as a possible location for Camelot, so where this may have been a home base for King Arthur and his brave knights of the Round Table, I actually really enjoyed going around Cadbury Castle, and I definitely felt that the energy there had some Arthurian energy to it. I think there's something to that claim. I'm gonna segway and go down a bit of a rabbit hole about King Arthur at this point, because he is linked to Glastonbury as well, due to of all people Joseph of Arimathea, the uncle to Jesus. He was a tin merchant that traveled to Britain's western coast one on one of his trading journeys, he supposedly brought along his young nephew Jesus, and together they made a pilgrimage to the Holy Isle of Avalon. So they made a pilgrimage together, and Avalon is Glastonbury. After Jesus died, the story goes that Joseph, his uncle, and Mary Magdalene returned to Avalon, Glastonbury, with the Holy Grail. So many believe that the Holy Grail is the cup used at the Last Supper, which then held the blood of Christ that dripped from the cross, which I think is really hard to collect, you know, at that time because there was like soldiers around and they were like torturing Jesus. So I think it would be very difficult to collect Jesus's blood at the crucifixion. Kudos to him if he did it. But this is, you know, like one of the most sacred objects, and it's been highly sought after as a treasure by you know the Knights Templar and other you know who did crusades and all sorts of things you know by different groups over the ages, but Joseph of Arimathea is said to have hidden the Holy Grail either in Glastonbury's Chalice Well or when he died, supposedly he was buried with the Holy Grail on Chalice Hill. So you can decide which you you know like better. But you know the Chalice Hill lies between the Tor and the site of the abbey, so grave robbing was common. However, it may have been found and stolen by King Arthur and his crew. The other legend connected to the Holy Grail is of King Arthur, who devoted his whole life to finding this holy of holy relic, when King Arthur died, he was buried on Avalon. But why do people think this is even a possibility that they actually found Arthur's burial place? The fascinating twist to this tale is monks in the 12th century at Glastonbury Abbey claimed to have discovered the graves of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. So they announced, you know, that they had found two skeletons, and there may have been a slab that says "Here lies Arthur. And when I visited there, there was a marker where they supposedly had been found, is it authentic? I mean, who knows? But this discovery was made after a fire at the abbey. The scuttlebutt is many people believe it was engineered to fundraise to rebuild the abbey. But I mean, who wouldn't want to be a place connected to King Arthur? I mean, many tourists would like flock there because of this claim to fame.
Janelle 11:09
Arthur's remains, or whoever the skeleton was that was dug up, representing Arthur, actually got reburied at the foot of the high altar at the abbey. So this is all interesting to me because as the ha as the energy lines meander through the abbey, it is at the high altar that the Michael and Mary lines cross at the abbey. The next two places that I'm going to touch on are not about the line, but are related to King Arthur because I've always enjoyed hearing the stories of King Arthur and the knights. So they're worth a quick mention in case you, you know, ever find yourself in southern England with nothing to do. I highly recommend making an effort and traveling to Tintagel and Saint Nectan's Glen, Tintagel was one of several places that has laid claim to King Arthur and Merlin being there. So there's this cave dedicated to Merlin with a beautiful carving of Merlin's head in the stone at the entrance of the cave, and Tintagel is allegedly the birthplace of King Arthur. Moving on to Saint Nectan's Glen, so Saint Nectan's Glen is considered one of the top 10 most important spiritual sites in the UK, and I would wholeheartedly agree with that assessment. Glastonbury, Avebury, and Tintagel also make that top 10 list. What is at Saint Nectan's Glen? You might ask. A woodland, a very magical, alive woodland with a waterfall, and there's like a a saint's Hermitage and Chapel, you know, above the waterfall, I mean, this saint knew how to pick a wonderful place to live in. So it has outstanding beauty. It has very much a lot of elemental energy to it, you know. And the energy changes as soon as you enter the woodlands. So there were ribbons tied to trees, which are also called clouties, by the waterfall, and there were coins like 1000s of them pushed into tree trunks and wooden posts. So it's like people made wishes here or offerings. There's literally hundreds of votives, and you may wish to leave your own votive in this very special place. You can wade in the water, which is what we did, and we came upon a group who were doing some sort of ceremony in the water. But the the whole energy of the place is is just exquisite. This place, this special place, is said to be where King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table came to be blessed by this water before their quest for the Holy Grail. Who knows? There may have been some sort of a Lady of the Lake here too. Just saying. All right, we're returning to Glastonbury after that slight but hopefully informative detour back to Uncle Joseph and Mary, who at Glastonbury built Wattle Church in 62 AD after the crucifixion. So while the abbey, you know, then built itself around the Wattle Church. It is allegedly England's first ever building for Christian worship. Of course, everybody wants bragging rights, but supposedly it beats the first churches created by the other disciples. Joseph of Arimathea from the Holy Land arrived at a place called Wearyall Hill, and supposedly, you know, as soon as he got to a certain place, he planted his staff in the land, and the staff had been given to him by Jesus. And out of the ground grew a hawthorn, holy thorn tree. Genetic testing of the surviving tree has shown it to be a special species that's found in the Middle East. It gives it a bit of merit that it might have come from Joseph. The sad part of it all is that this tree has been cut down multiple times by vandals, like I'm talking like with chainsaws, you know. Poor tree, the tree was marked by many ribbons of all colors, sort of like the Clouties, you know, tied onto metal rings that were to support and surround the tree. So this is all that remains on that spot, but it's a special spot because of the staff and the tree growing and all of that kind of good stuff. So when we were in Glastonbury, we worked with chakras of the earth. It's with different sprays and crystals, stones with colors of the chakras, so those of you who are not familiar with chakras and what they're all about, there's different colors that represent different parts of your body.
Janelle 16:29
So you have red for your root, so that's right, you know, at the before you know your legs go down, and then we have navel, which is like your belly button, which is orange, and then by your ribs, there's like yellow for solar plexus. You move to your heart for green, and then throat for blue. Indigo is more brow or third eye area, and then violet is your crown of your head. So it's a whole other large topic, but I've done you know some research in it. But it has been suggested that Glastonbury may be the heart chakra for the world, and I can honestly say that when I was there, there was a lot to do with my heart. There was a lot of heart opening. There was a lot of heart healing. I would definitely concur that it could be a really good contender for the heart chakra of the world. There, when we were in Glastonbury, we also went to Magdalene Chapel, which is where the Mary Lay line flows through into Glastonbury. Glastonbury has two different healing springs. One flows through red iron, and the other flows through white with calcite. So they flow from beneath the tor. So the Chalice Well is famous and has the red waters, the female energies, while the white spring has the male energies. When you go into the the chalice, well, is surrounded by you know a lovely garden. You know the tor is like at the top of a hill. It's like a bit of a tower, and it's dedicated to Saint Michael on Tor Hill, and you know there's a labyrinth that you know was used by the druids. That's called the Dragon Path, and it's an initiation path for the druids becoming full fledged. Again, didn't have a lot of time there, but got to make it to both of the different springs when we when we were in the the white springs. There was like candlelight. It had two altars where you could meditate, contemplate. Some people were like skinny dipping, and that wasn't us. Just to be clear, and we collected you know, water in a bottle to take home because sometimes I like to collect water from some sacred places and then use it later at home. Moving on to Avebury, Avebury is the largest stone circle in the world with multiple rings and is considered to be a serpent temple because it literally looks like a snake that swallowed something, so it's it's older than Stonehenge, which is definitely more famous, and more people try to get into Stonehenge. And I have never been to Stonehenge. I chose Avebury because it was on the line, and Stonehenge was not, but for many people it is far more spectacular than Stonehenge. So William Stukeley surveyed it in 1724, and you could Google this image, but I was awestruck by it because he captured a time when there was like a lot. More of the stones upright and intact. If you picture it from a bird's eye view, it's like the body of a serpent passing through a circle. With this larger circle, were two small circles, you know, stone circles. The head of the serpent is another stone circle, and both the head and tail were 50-foot-wide avenues of standing stones, each extended into the countryside for more than a mile. At the midway point, the two stone circles within the larger stone circle are represented and celebrate sacred union. What I thought of when I was there, was I had been to the zoo, and there was this very large snake at the zoo, and they had fed it a chicken, and so it was eating the chicken whole, and you know as it was going through the snake's body, when we came upon it, the chicken was basically in the middle of its midway, you know, of of the length of the snake, and this is what Avebury, from a bird's eye view, looks like. There are definitely female and masculine ley lines that cross in this area. I referenced it in the Apollo section of an earlier episode about how special Avebury is because of the three Michael Mary lines. They're called Earth currents that cross here. So this the extra line makes it way more powerful. So I'll recap here for those who haven't listened to episode 11.
Janelle 21:43
Okay, so we're going to head to Apollo's mother Leto, who was understood as having been from Great Britain, but when she was pregnant, she traveled south to Delos, Greece, to have her twins from Great Britain. She was accompanied by wolves. Stonehenge was sacred to Apollo. Word on the street was Apollo would travel to Great Britain twice every year. There was an established connection between the two places in the mythology. At Delos Island, there are also three crossings of the energy currents of Apollo and Athena lines there. The only other place in all of Europe that there are the three crossings of these earth currents is Avebury in England and Delos, Greece. When we were there, that's a lot to walk, and so we did not walk the entire serpent, and the standing stones and the circles. We did our best, but the town itself is incorporated into the main stone circle. I mean, we saw lots of it, and I would love, love to go back to Avebury and experience it fully. I love meditating at and experiencing the energy at the power spots along the lines. Sometimes it's about an energy exchange with me and the land, where I am being supported with this energy for my well being and evolution. And a lot of this trip, that was the case. Sometimes I need to work with the energy to bring it more online or activate it. So sometimes it needs cleared of non-beneficial energy, like the chakras. Working with the chakras in Glastonbury was was an example of that. So it's difficult to get to some of these places. You can go by train a certain ways, and then you know sometimes they have a cab, sometimes they don't. We did not do a tour. We were on our own walking around trying to find places, mainly without using our phones because that was in 2017. I find tours for the most part are too restrictive, even spiritual tours of places. You know, I want the freedom if I need to stop longer at some of the places that I can do that. So it was not a lot of time, but you know, we covered whatever ground that we could within a week. So I went from toe dipping in Ireland to widening into immersing myself, like up to my thighs in England, in the exploration of these powerful, magical, sacred sites and the energies along these dragon lines.
