Hi everyone. And welcome back to this week's episode of the dietician turned designer. I didn't record last week because I feel like obvious reasons. I just felt a little, maybe silly talking about business stuff with everything that was happening in the world. But as I hope many of us have been doing, I talked to my therapist and we talked about how it's still important for our own individual mental health to, you know, still do the things that we enjoy doing. And I actually enjoy work. And enjoy this podcast and talking to my clients and things. So we're back this week, I may even go to doing every other week. I haven't quite decided yet. But for this week, I thought it would be interesting for you to hear how I go through the process of when I'm hosting a free workshop or a free masterclass webinar whatever you would like to call it, because I am actually planning one right now for next month. And I'll go ahead and let you know the topic of it.
And we'll sneak peak. But it is focusing on how to optimize your Google business profile because I'm really focusing on helping private practice clients with their local SEO, because I really believe that that is where you should start first. I just kind of feel like there's. Sort of two different buckets of SEO. When we talk about SEO, there's the SEO that of course, you know, you want to rank for. Keywords and you do that through blogging, et cetera. But I feel like service providers that, you know, we're kind of constrained to certain areas due to. Licensure. That it just makes sense to start where you are and that's with local SEO, and then you can expand and grow from there, but you have to kind of start somewhere. So I have really been enjoying helping businesses with their longterm strategy for local SEO and creating content for their Google business profile. And of course we are also optimizing their website at the same time. So. Let's get into this masterclass and how I set things up. Always say that I'm going to write out a process or a standard of practice or a standard procedure. And one day I will. I have been doing that for my services. You can ask my VA I do have proof. That I do have processes for those things, because I've done it so many times. With masterclasses and webinars, I'll be honest. I, beginning of this year, really tried to have a plan. I take a lot of Ashland, Carters workshops and courses. I'm in all of her stuff. I'm in her copywriting for creatives and her launch classes. And one thing she talks about is having a quarterly champagne campaign. And I really did try to do that. I had my, I have my wall calendar because I'm very visual and I had everything laid out. And I. I think maybe I missed one quarter. Maybe not. Yeah, maybe one quarter of this year. And the thing was, is that it kinda got to be a little bit much because it was like, you were constantly planning to launch another. Masterclass or webinar. And that kind of took the fun out of it for me. Cause. I love some dopamine and I get death mean from planning and things like this. And I find it stressful. If I try to plan it. Too much too far ahead. So I do prefer it to be a little more organic and in a way that feels good to me. So. With that being said, I have thought the other day that I wanted to do a masterclass on this, because I feel like it's something that not a lot of people have been talking about. To private practice owners. So the first thing is, of course you need to pick a topic. What are you going to be talking about at this masterclass? Also, are you going to call it a masterclass? I feel like webinars kind of out workshop is still in, in masterclass. I would imagine it's still in. So pick a topic. It needs to be something.
Not too broad and not so specific that you can't talk about it for at least 30 minutes. So think about that and think about what really gets you excited. You know, it's finding that balance between what gets you excited and what your people would actually like to hear.
Once you've picked that topic that you're really excited about and want to share with others, go ahead and start thinking about a date and a time. I don't recommend doing it in one week. I think that would be too stressful and not enough time to let people know. I would say at least two weeks you know, most of the things I've read recommend like a six week lead up to it and. I, like I said, I tried that and, you know, It's hard for me to explain my process because I think sometimes people do well with that, but I think you'd have to know yourself. And I know that that puts a lot of stress on me. So while I will end up doing it, I don't do well knowing that like every six weeks, I've got to start over again with this process.
I usually plan them like two or three weeks out. , like I said, pick a topic, pick your date and time. And then where you going to host this workshop or masterclass? Zoom is probably going to be the most obvious one. The only thing is if you don't pay for zoom, you can only do 40 minutes. And, you know, I would say at least. I plan to have an hour. It's not that you're going to talk for an hour, but plan to be on there for an hour. If you don't have paid zoom Lately I've actually been using an app called sessions. We use it. And all of my calls and all of our coworking calls and the tech savvy clinician crew and people have seemed to really like it. It's really easy. You don't have to log in or anything when he joined the session. And it was also a lifetime deal. , you know, my lifetime deal junkie. So it was actually one of the really good ones that I purchased. And you can also do events with it. Actual webinars. You're probably wondering what's the difference between that you're just creating an event, but what this allows you to do is allow people to register. You wouldn't have to necessarily design a whole new web page if you didn't want to. You can create a landing page for them to register for the event on. Instead of, you know, you sending out a link to everyone, this is giving people a chance to register. Directly into your system. Again, zoom sessions, whatever works for you, or I've never used Google meet for an, a webinar or anything. I personally am not a big fan of Google meet. I find it confusing. But I definitely like zoom in sessions. Speaking of landing page, that was what I would do next. Some sort of landing page, whether it, like I said, it's in sessions and you just create one, I've created one in flow desk. Before. If you have Miller light, you can create landing pages. Again, there's lots of ways to set this up. I love Miller light. Again, if you don't want to do it on your website or you're not confident in your skills on doing it on the website, Miller light would be simple and easy to do. You could probably use one of their templates. But in the perfect world scenario. You would create it on your website. Why? Because that's going to give people onto your site onto your website address and URL and getting them interacting. And of course we know that's going to help your SEO. So anytime we can get them on our site, that's what we want to do. But again, I am big believer in not stressing yourself out too much, if you can avoid it. So either, you know, use the Miller light landing page or use a template or create a template in your, on your website and just reuse that same layout every time and change the content. Just keep it as simple as possible. Once you have the landing page next, if I'm going to be talking through Miller light, but this works in any other system as well, but first you're going to create a group in MailerLite for this specific event. For this one, I called it like G B P. November 23 masterclass. Google business profile. I create the group first and then I have already done several sequences and automations related to workshops. I just duplicate the one I already have, and then I should go in and change the graphics and the images and the words obviously. But I like the setup that's already in there. I don't have to think through it. The way that I have it set up right now is as soon as you register for the workshop, you of course get the confirmation email and. You know, it's written in my tone of voice for my brand and I'm just, you know, really excited that they signed up and want to hear from them. And I'm like what cash questions they have and what they want to hear at this masterclass, our workshop. And then I have an automated to send on a exact date, which is always that Monday before the workshop. It just has a little nudge or a reminder to say, Hey, did you remember you signed up for this? Here's the workbook. Don't forget, you know, Block it off on your calendar. Get ready. And then the morning of again, like three or four hours before I send it again, like, you know, Have you got your coffee ready? I'm so excited. We're going to hang out and we're going to have a lot of fun. So I'm just, I feel like that's a little more personal than them just getting, you know, a zoom reminder or a generic event reminder. It's more like they're talking to you and they get that connection with you. So create that automation and Miller light, the trigger for of course, is that they are added to the group in MailerLite. And then of course you need to make some social media posts. You need to create emails to tell people about this event. You know, of course letting your email list know first, because that's kind of the point of them being on the email list is that they get exclusive information before everyone else. Of course, my tech savvy clinician crew has already heard about this workshop and they've already been given the link to sign up. So they get first dibs and then it's the email list and then it's everyone else. Again, that just gives them. Those incentives to be a part of your community. Let's see, what else could we cover when we're talking about a masterclass? Of course, make your workbook, don't forget about that. It can be so simple. Don't try to, it's not a, it's not a textbook. A workbook is just something that can have along with the presentation to help kind of have a place to take notes and some key points that they need to remember. And then of course, at the end of it, I call to action to work with you, or let them know how they can work with you and who you are and what you do. And then of course the presentation sides. Another cool thing about the sessions app. Is that you can actually integrate Canva and the slides into the webinar or the presentations. That's something that's really fun. And you can preview or show. Quote, unquote products like links to other things. If I have it pulled up and I say, Hey I want you to join the tech savvy clinician crew. I have it listed as a product that will then show up on the screen that they can actually click. And then sign up for it. It's not like I'm just putting it in the chat. It's an image. That they click on. Again, it has a lot of neat features that you're not going to find in zoom, but zoom also works really well. So again, do what you're most comfortable with. Don't be like me in. Going out and trying every piece of tech imaginable, I'm doing it for you. , if you have any questions about how you should set up your next webinar or masterclass, I would be happy to answer those. You can just send me an email. And let me know what questions you have and hopefully I'll see you at this next master class. And if not, I hope that I will see you in the tech savvy clinician crew. We have been having a blast in there. We have a Facebook group where we ask questions, talk all the time. We have coworking every Tuesday, which has been really great, really great for me because it also keeps me accountable to things I'm trying to do and focus on. 'cause I have shiny object syndrome. And then we just recently had a workshop on SEO and writing content for SEO. And
then this coming month we're going to have another workshop on how to start your own podcast and all the tech that you would need for that so i hope that you come and join us we would love to have you and i hope you have a great rest of your week
