Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

Fill the whole heart with the words of God. They are the living water,
quenching your burning thirst. – Steps to Christ, pg. 88
“Boom! Mind-blown!” I stared wonderingly at Alesha, trying to
process the latest of her discoveries.
Half an hour earlier, I had been lying in the lobby, bored out
of my mind, when I had had the idea to go visit Corinna and Alesha’s
room. Ambling over through the cold September wind, I made it to the
door, my hair ruffled and my cheeks slightly pink. Taking the stairs two
at a time, I arrived out of breath at their room, and after banging on
their door, I stepped in.
“Hey Noémi, come over here,” called Alesha. Running over, I
heaved myself up onto her bed, waiting expectantly. “I want to show
you what I’ve researched recently,” she started. Full of enthusiasm,
she launched into her latest find, which in turn, completely blew me
away.
“You know how the Bible says that we, as Jesus’ followers, are
the salt of the earth?” She paused for a quick breath, then continued:
“And in the Bible, Jesus is referred to as the living water? Well, what
if we, as His followers, are the salt so that when we talk to people, we
give them a piece of salt? And as they chew on it, a thirst will grow
in them—one that can only be satisfied by Jesus…” She proceeded
to elaborate on the point, but my mind was still spinning with the
implication of what she had discovered.
Am I, in my everyday life, saying things that will give people a
thirst for God? I wondered.
Water is vital to growth, but without a thirst for it, how am I
supposed to know what it is that I’m missing? God wants me to give
people a thirst for Him, and it all starts with passing out one little piece
of salt, one person at a time.
