Stop memorizing, start listening! Welcome to Learn By Listening, the English podcast designed specifically for young learners who want to understand English naturally. We believe that children learn best through stories, not word lists.
In each episode, we filled stories with mystery, humor, and fun characters. Whether it’s meeting a "tall ghost" who is actually just Grandpa, or traveling to a sunny day in Nara with a magic kimono, our stories use simple language that students can actually follow.
What makes us different?
Context over Lists: We use vocabulary from the standard curriculum (like family, feelings, and weather) but put them into exciting plots.
Perfect for ESL: Spoken clearly and at a pace that helps non-native speakers gain confidence.
Short & Sweet: Every episode is under 5 minutes—perfect for a morning listen or a bedtime story.
Join us and discover that you don't need to memorize words to speak English—you just need to listen!

"Hi students! Today I want to share a story about a conversation I had with a mother recently. She is a wonderful mom, and her English is actually quite good! She studies grammar and uses learning apps on her phone every single day.
But she came to me with a problem. She said, 'Teacher, whenever I see a foreigner or try to speak English in real life, my mind goes completely blank. I freeze up!'
I listened to her, and I told her something very honest. I said, 'Language apps are great! They can help you build your vocabulary by 10% or 20%. But apps will never teach you to be brave. The only true way to improve your English... is to open your mouth and speak!'
I told her that making mistakes is completely normal. Foreigners don't care if your grammar isn't 100% perfect. They just want to communicate with you! I advised her to take a trip up to Taipei or visit tourist spots where she can practice ordering coffee or asking for directions in English.
Most importantly, I told her: 'Don't teach your children to be afraid.' Kids watch everything their parents do. If a child sees their mom hide or stay silent when someone speaks English, the child learns that English is something scary. But if they see their mom smile, try her best, and laugh off mistakes, the child learns that English is just a fun tool for connecting with the world.
So, if you are listening today and you feel nervous about speaking English: stop waiting for perfection. Be brave, make mistakes, and keep talking!"
