Unknown Speaker 00:55
And we are back back again.

Unknown Speaker 01:29
I'm actually a viewer and today we're joined by my good mates m&p All the way in Canada America always forget. It's Canada at the moment. But same from your point of view. It's basically same country as
Unknown Speaker 01:47
America. Yeah, hiding. Fine going through a long day here as well. But probably not as long as the day that Conroy had in this episode.
Unknown Speaker 01:58
We're gonna get to him. It's really funny how like the the episode, actually, let me kind of get a bit more professional. So today we're gonna be talking about the best TV show on Earth right now called succession. It is episode nine and Episode Two, Episode Nine, episode two. season four episode two called rehearsal which is directed by Becky Martin, who has also directed other shows like obviously Veep and British classic called the peep show, which is kind of definitely around the same temperature as succession. And yeah, great episode, we'll talk about that. We'll give our thoughts about, you know, weddings, our choice of karaoke songs, and honestly the best family on on TV right now. But before we kind of get to all of that allegedly, forget all of I just kind of
Unknown Speaker 02:49
want to let you know about like, sort of things you've got coming up. You have Barry coming up as well. The Mandalorian is still fair.
Unknown Speaker 02:57
Just all the TV shows or attention. What's that? Ted? lassos there's a jacket jackets. It's I mean, we release content. So so much, one stop shop right now. It's everything when so all the TV shows your every single TV show probably watching right now definitely covering it. So just, yeah, don't be afraid to subscribe.
Unknown Speaker 03:19
Give us a couple of feedbacks, give us go forth and routings is what really helps out with how we go forward how we plan ahead, we think so. We really appreciate it. And obviously if you have any thoughts or suggestions about things always kind of give us slightly till it DMS. Jeff, any other reasons why you want to slide into our DMS slide into our DMS anyway so good.
Unknown Speaker 03:44
We will need some only some DMs and you're gonna regret that but okay. I am literally depressed
Unknown Speaker 03:53
but um yeah let's get into
Unknown Speaker 03:55
let's go to succession yeah
Unknown Speaker 04:01
so what did you What did you think about the episode just first thoughts high level views it felt different levels of sat like it was sad in the in the in the in the legitimate legitimately melancholic way it was sad and kind of like a pitiful way and it was also sad and and like just an overall hilarious we and these different, like levels of sad could range from when Logan is moseying like Hitman Santa or when the siblings are sitting down at Connor is supposed to be a rehearsal when we're listening to we're talking about how she's leaving when we're listening to Carrie oh my god carry with her with auditions. Pathetic, man. Oh my goodness. The feelings are mixed on that. I feel like I feel like people are kind of expecting this to be viewed as really, really bad. I think that probably some people are going to think oh, this is
Unknown Speaker 05:00
into terrible, but I watched it and just thought nah, this is not it. There's not a she literally talking about a child dying and just inserting a random smile in the middle. It's like, Sis, what are you doing? And clearly it's because she's nervous. But this lack of experience is something that, you know, we should be aware of I she's auditioning for something as big as ATM like ATM is one of the biggest news outlets in the country. Yeah. And it's, it's quite hilarious when, just like the conversations around carry are brought into screen about how logon is sort of asking then I'm not involved, you know, how she doing? I'm not involved in moving forth. But how is she doing? And I mean, Tom, I'm actually feeling such a creative and because he's like, he can't, he obviously can't tell him the truth. Like what he really thinks, because that's kind of like the show is that you can't really tell people, what you really think about things directly. So he has to be like, Yeah, you know, she needs a bit of work. She needs a lot of work and stuff like that. But you know, he's on it. And in our conversation with Greg, it's just amazing. And because it's sort of the same thing about trying to tell, trying to get your point across, but not making your point, but still making your points and stuff. And it was there's two actors are just amazing. I was I really felt that was kind of like an aerosol came back and forth like a tennis match back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And I kind of I really enjoyed that, that that scene. But I mean, it's really hilarious. I'll actually start with Carrie, I think we feel about this episode is like, I know, I've said this a million times on confident podcasts about how, you know, the concept of acting is putting people in one room and letting them see things. That is what you know, acting is if going to the dictionary, that is kind of what you'd find. And that's kind of what this Especially that last scene, when we have the three kids and the dad or the four kids. Of course, I forgot about Connor are the four kids. And they have basically,
Unknown Speaker 06:56
I move into that trap as well. That is not the premise of the show, but kind of the premise of the show. It's like, oh, we have all of them in that room. What kind of meal can you cook, and you saw, they made a huge, sad, gourmet buffet, basically.
Unknown Speaker 07:16
Cuz that final scene was pretty rough, to say the least, to say the least. And it just kind of painting, you know, rolling back years of highly traumatized versus kids, everything. And they, like, sort of stuck feeling sorry for the kids and like this, how they ended up and everything right, but you kind of like is looking at being sympathetic. You know what, I guess we'll get to learn about like, how do you actually feel awesome. Certain anything, actually, I guess could do there. Now. Do you feel that was sincere on his part? Or do you feel like there's a bigger gain? To him? You mean, the full apologies that he was providing? Apologies, I guess the part that quotation marks Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 07:59
Well, I think
Unknown Speaker 08:02
in Logan's case, because he's such a pathological liar. That's very good at you know, pathologically lying.
Unknown Speaker 08:11
Anything he says can probably be viewed as, you know, I guess with a grain of salt, in like, he's a type of person who is so good at saying whatever needs to be said, in order to get the job done in order to get the deal done. convince people to side with him.
Unknown Speaker 08:29
However, in this situation, I think there really is a sense of almost melancholic contrition
Unknown Speaker 08:39
is like, I didn't have to do you guys like this badly? To be honest. Like I keep saying everything I do is for my children, but like, here, you are my actual children, and I'm actively making you suffer. I think there's a part of him that, you know, this is dawning on me. And plus, you know, I think it's kind of like in an old context of the season where he's sort of thinking about who's going to existence thinking about how, for example, his birthday party and all the kids were there. And he was just kind of felt quite alone. Yeah. And he does tell them that which I wasn't expecting. I wasn't expecting him to fully admit that in public. But he did. But I still think all of you saw think about all of that. Right, then, you know, 10 minutes before he was denying them the helicopter access wasn't me. So apologizing for that. You actually apologize for that. But yeah, there's yeah, there's that. Um, it's, I found that seemed quite Yeah, I mean, when I was sort of going, sort of going all the way back and you sort of start thinking about like, yeah, he actually did his woman a lot when he was a kid. And, you know, sort of part of the reason why Roman is like this, and you know, the whole shift, the horseshoe, and the divorce law, which is pretty
Unknown Speaker 09:52
good. She'll get Shiv but then you saw here, but he does make an interesting point, though, that if she was around, he would have given her similar advice.
Unknown Speaker 10:00
He that's quite manipulative, isn't it? It is because at the same time, like if your child is getting divorced, why are you? Why are you why are you helping Tom? And Tom? Like, what you should be calling? She was like, Okay, I understand that like, we're not on good terms but like if you're going to divorce this guy this what should happen? I mean, Logan has been through multiple divorces honestly. So he's got, he's got Yeah, he knows how to do it. And he and that's quite shitty on him actually just all the rewards lawyers all about and yeah, but then we sort of I mean, they drop a little bumper Connors mom. And although locking her up locking her up, and I was like, where did that come from? Like,
Unknown Speaker 10:43
well enough that come with is that actually even like, is it Did you lock her off in I mean, in jail or was it like a mental I'm guessing the mean some time until Institute or something? Yeah, that's kind of what I thought was Yeah. But yeah, I mean, even kind of like the way that scene all came together. Let's talk about the deal. Because it's also kind of witnessed in this episode about how just things change. So for example, they were all for the deal. Then Schiff kind of stuff started getting second thoughts for on Sunday in and now she sold again, still because she thinks she can squeeze for more money alongside Sandy in theory, which is a bad idea, by the way. Say that right now. That's a bad idea. Okay. Plus Kendall. He had, well, he was all for the deal. Then he has his phone conversation with Matson, like sort of realize they they have this sort of secret of his friendship, if it's Association, chorus correspondence, or thing. I mean, I know Kendall probably knew him on some level, right? Because he was at the birthday. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And but like, does anyone really know anybody in that show? Or it's everyone's just kind of, ya know, am I known for like, you sort of realized that, you know, Matson obviously doesn't want to deal he was still to go for and he's working alongside Ken but then Kendall sort of flips you know, switches up and says no, squeezing for more money so I was a bit so what's going on here? He is going to walk.
Unknown Speaker 12:15
He like these guys are honestly playing with fine because I agree with me here still. But I'm gonna say I kind of agree with Logan here. If they play too much Matson will walk. He's crazy enough to do that. I like the way he says it in the phone call with Kendall too is like yeah, you know, your dad's gonna sell but not to him you guys mess around isn't it's not going to be to me. So and that is very poignant. So what's the risk then if they don't sell that out and got the funds for the PGn deal right?
Unknown Speaker 12:47
Yeah, they over promised on piers is actually such a just just just this weird like, leeching off of everybody's like allegiances and II can egos because
Unknown Speaker 13:00
they've essentially been kicked out of control of waystar Rico right. So ATN all that stuff. And because they feel scorned the kids they're trying to buy pierce right. But in order to buy Pierce they need the payouts from the waystar Yeah. So that they can have enough money to do that so that they can supposedly continue screwing with their dad as he continues to run at it. Like it's just why just go do something else with it. I'm so confused. Like, it's hilarious that that's the case because they really do need that money for any of this to work. I mean, it kind of think about how you can sort of just follow that during this thing because like they do need that extra cash there. They can always Kendall says about 100 million between is it each or between them.
Unknown Speaker 13:50
But I think it's between between them, which is you know, still it's still in a saleable slot. It's like it's not chump change. So they do need the money which is the funny thing but at the same time it's like how much more do you want to keep squeezing before literally like how much money is is enough like why is this not? How much I mean sure 100 million maybe they can get 100 million that's not that's not small. But like it's not going to make too huge of a difference to what they already have. Like I don't know I think maybe that's like that's probably that's probably going to be like I don't know 1% of like what they what they might end up being like as a whole from from all this. So like, do you really want to risk Matson for like an extra like, one to 5% Yeah, but like, Wi Fi rights? What if they've got the leverage?
Unknown Speaker 14:46
What if Matson actually gives in?
Unknown Speaker 14:52
So you think there's a world where Matson doesn't walk when they bring this up, even though he can see that coming from a mile away because there are apparently spies
Unknown Speaker 15:00
letting you know what's happening. I think definitely the interesting angled V. Manson walk in. Because that obviously leads to like more conflict and like, what the hell happens now? But what if the kids are right? What if there's another negotiation process that has to happen? Where? Okay, the deal is off, but we feel that, you know, you can get a bit more money from you. Does that? I mean, I feel like we're kind of all predisposed to believe not believe, but to trust Logan, a lot more than the kids. But obviously, why wouldn't you trust Logan, more than the kids especially with like business decisions, you've got like, what, six years of experience behind behind making all of these deals? Right? And obviously being on the right side of history? So I mean, who are we to question him, but at the same time, it's like, what is wrong? He's already starting to, you know, he's basically, fast tracking carry into the most important one of the most important roles in the company. So he's just losing it now or something is he is losing the touch? What's going on? So, I mean, maybe he has experienced with that, too. You know, just just general, just general, like, nepotism, but I'm not involved type of behavior.
Unknown Speaker 16:16
Yeah, it was, like a separation, isn't it? But um, like, I think he's, he's kind of we're already starting to plan for life after it's after after the sale. Because, I mean, the way the episode starts was, you know, straight to Etn isn't it? To give this sort of, you know, Wall general type of speech? I mean, when I heard that I wanted to run through a wall, man. Honestly, I was like, Yes, this goes votes of atom propaganda.
Unknown Speaker 16:45
I was actually so why am I hate that? This? Why is this working on?
Unknown Speaker 16:51
It was like, why is this actually a rousing speech? It's not supposed to be like this. I mean, right. All the actors in this show just amazing, man, and it's like, stood right in the middle. They're just screaming his lungs out, try and see hyperbole. Haifa for crowd and everything. Yes. So this mic has shot like, amazing. And
Unknown Speaker 17:11
yeah, man, he was like, you fucking pirates. And I was like, some fucking words. Call me Jack's Fire.
Unknown Speaker 17:19
Fire. It's what's wrong. I was I was getting so gassed. I don't even know why I think he's like, because he's got a he's got to be a Scottish or is Scottish, isn't it? So isn't Scottish accent plus the foreskin? I just like yeah, let's, let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Oh, my God. But um, yeah, I can see obviously, he's like really intimidated, isn't it? So I'm quite interested to know. Cuz we've got the elections more coming up as well sort of spoke about that last, and last episodes is the plan for him to get this sale. Done. So he has a lot more focus on Etn. Before the whole election, Barak comes through on some level. Yeah, because Logan loves news. And that's where he's kind of used to,
Unknown Speaker 18:05
I guess wielding power and influence. That's kind of how he manages the agenda of the conversation. And I think that on some level, it's what he needs. If he wants to get back into the bullpen, so to speak with all these different people, with all of you who work for him and kind of manage their core assets, then running Etn essentially how he does that, but I feel like that's just a weird move for him as well. It's like, it almost feels weird to see someone like him doing that. Like why not just like, you know, retire, but do like that. Just didn't even know what retiring means, man, honestly, I'm not sure he knows no chance. I mean, I'm confused by him, because there was a bit in the episode where they notify him about the kids who might
Unknown Speaker 18:58
vote against the deal. He then gives like this little smirk, and says like, yeah, they've got some juice. What do you think about that?
Unknown Speaker 19:06
That confused me a little. I was like, what does he mean by saying impressed? Is he like, does he feel like okay, I'm ahead of them still. Like they don't have anything on me really, even though they think they do like or is it just like okay, they want to play ball, it's believable, because then he comes up with all that contrition later and it's like, so what are you talking about? Honestly, because I mean, I've got here my notes about like, does he want so he wants the keys and he wants the kids to juice up the price but he doesn't want them to juice up the price so what I'm not sure what he wants I'm not sure what's in his head right now. So I was quite confused about by that by guests with the kind of later episodes we'll see. Yeah, I think that's that's Logan. I did enjoy his
Unknown Speaker 19:50
conversations around Kerry's conversation with them Tom is always because Tom is always cuz he can't say what he really thinks. So Tommy just always talking around and said
Unknown Speaker 20:00
Of course right then Logan is just kind of always straight, direct straight line straight to the point and stuff that he obviously tells Greg to fuck off. He's kind of his catchphrase isn't yeah at that point when Greg was talking about that pizza I was like oh you know this is I was just like what are you wanting? Just this is not the time I just want you just do a man honestly, I think he just left which is Loki hilarious is like yeah, you know, I'm not gonna I'm not even gonna gonna argue. Did he? I mean there was that part when he had that meeting with
Unknown Speaker 20:38
well worth watching the video then Carrie was when they were laughing they closed quickly. Oh my god. The fact that Fisher Stevens is in this show always gets just them bringing out when the theme song was playing and the opening credits were rolling. I was looking at some of the names that I noticed Fisher Stevens alive Okay, so that means Hugo is in this episode, right? So the fact that they brought Hugo just for this like Hugo is in this episode just for that seed is just too funny. Because like
Unknown Speaker 21:10
because yeah, they're laughing and everything and then they walk in we brewed he didn't pause the video before closing like whenever people would do that on TV. I'm just like, what do you do you can just shut the laptop
Unknown Speaker 21:23
you actually can read lots of because now he's like okay, well let's look under your computer that he tried to get Cardenas to do it and obviously she wasn't why would you do that? Just learned that he was good open ended I really as soon as I realized he was scared to open laptop. Because he did that as soon as he started the carrier video. I started screaming because my god one and then when he opens it, he's like doing his best.
Unknown Speaker 21:51
Oh, I think that'd be a good place to end the episode. Yeah, cuz he's like, he opens and closes it quickly. And it was just kind of like yeah, oh, it's so funny. Like kind of all relates relate to that. It's not once it's once your your, your browser usually. There's a moment later on, after Logan talks to the kids at the karaoke bar, right? Where he comes up with this decision of like what to do and like pushing them meeting blah blah blah. And he specifically says get Frank get car but no journalists. And I'm wondering why does he have to do with the thing with Hugo or is this you just have some kind of mistrust situation with Jerry I was thinking that as well because I mean because also in episode one
Unknown Speaker 22:34
he asked her to like roast him like the whole issue was just like yeah, I'm not participating in this like I don't know is Jerry on some type of well, he didn't say the nights like quiet quitting is nice. He didn't say the Night of the Long Night is coming soon, isn't it so
Unknown Speaker 22:51
by the way listeners anyone who doesn't like the night long lives just do a quick Wikipedia search was not very nice time in history but when when he says that I feel there might be a lot more fat that might be trimmed out of other kind of like management and important people don't know what he's already said that says he's gone. By the end of the episode he said that. Yeah. To ruin the end of the upsurge. Yeah the lady that in charge of ATM says she is she's gone because I always wondered because you know they have her and they have Thomas like do they really need both of them like what's the plan the year but like I think he's trying to get rid of her to
Unknown Speaker 23:34
put Roman in that position I was going to ask you about this actually you think that's what he's doing well he that's what I'm that's what he says at the end of the episode. Like he wants Well yeah, but like I was asked as let's ask you do you feel what about Tom Do you feel he's being sincere to me because Tom technically is head of ATM right? So why would he bring another like I thought he was moving? I mean Yeah, he does say that to Roman but that's where it's confuses me right because why bring if you're taking a we said I thought that's to make sure that like there's just one person in charge of Etn that you can control but why bring in Roman like wouldn't Roman be best like us somewhere else? Or if Roman is going to be using be doing ATM? Like why do you need Tom there? Like why not put Tom somewhere else? So who's more hands on with Etn? Will that be Tom or said?
Unknown Speaker 24:21
Definitely said she's the one who's been running it this whole time? Yeah, Tom was just made head of ATM recently. So I mean, cuz he says that rumen is not Pierce, which is true. Remember that it is from about seen last season when we're most talking to Mankin in the in the buffer REITs. And how can I afford it? How can it How could anyone forget? Yeah, and just like when he when he was talking, he was like, I mean, what you're saying it's horrible and deplorable rides, but it's like he knows how to speak well, I knew how to speak the language. He knew how to get your point across. You sound extremely convincing right now and
Unknown Speaker 25:00
I mean, where the hell is this kind of one of the most impressive Roman moments in the whole show? Honestly, I think most of us were watching that scene thinking, Whoa, Who is this young? Like? To be fair, though, he's, he's been quite.
Unknown Speaker 25:14
He's been like the most logical one out of the siblings outside of the season. Because he's the only one who's trying to start a business. As he says in episode one, I'm trying to actually run a business without like, like, just just for the sake of running a business like without the need to fuck anybody. Yeah. Like, that's what I that's how he says it. Right. And I think that makes a lot of sense. I think he is annoyed with the whole Kendall and shift situation, because not only are they not really listening to him, but their motivations are so juvenile, like you can see at the end of the episode when they're in the car going away from Yeah, you know, the karaoke bar, or even before they leave when they're just like laughing to each other. Like, oh, like we fucked out real good, right? It's like, what? Come on, like, like, how would you had enough of this nonsense? Like, Is that Is that really your own? Your only passion in life? Like Kendall, how's your son doing? You know, like, bro? Dude, she's questioning sort of ask, and that is one of the questions we ask. I'd be like, I'm just, I'm just always here, like, what are you actually here doing? So I think it makes sense that Roman would want to kind of, I guess he would be incentivized to leave that situation. Here in Kolkata actually did an interview recently, where he, where he was asked, who he thinks is going to get the wall, get the current handed to them, right. And he says Roman, which at first I thought, okay, yeah, of course, you're gonna say that, like these people always, like end up pushing their characters, even if it's just for jokes, because they can't tell us what will actually happen. But then he backs it up with an interesting point. He says, Because Kendall AR and Shiv are too smart for their own good. Like they're constantly trying to change things like Kendall wants to make things a little bit more expansive, in terms of, you know, content, reach shave wants to make things more progressive. And Roman, honestly, he's just the most like little guy. Just give people what they want. give people what they want. He understands that he understands the business enough. And he does. He's not trying to change anything. And I think in a lot of ways, that's what Logan likes about Roman as a potential success just gets it doesn't. Yeah, like it could is he's, he's, he's like a caller who's actually interested. It's really, it's really funny how, like, at the start of the episode, we were talking about, you know, what's the news, what their needs isn't what their version of news is going to be? And Kendall got up and said, like, why don't we give them you know, Africa? Oh, my God, let it it's like, well give them you know, why don't we teach Africa all the time? What, what does that even mean? What? Why don't we teach them a new way of, you know, getting news. And I was kind of like, I mean, yeah, but no.
Unknown Speaker 28:02
That's, that sounds really nice. And, you know, nice and well, but people just want to hear
Unknown Speaker 28:08
why enough. We should have more guns rather than what, what is going on in Africa and the dynamics of the next election in East Africa or something? I mean, yeah, it's an interesting commentary on America's dystopic political landscape. Like what did he say? Sounds like homework, he sounds like homework, doesn't it? So I think he just understands, it just gets it, which is kind of what quite interesting, sort of going back to that scene about what if Logan is manipulating and again, which is very likely, you can just like, which is very likely, it's only him, he's, you're telling him I need you. And it's like,
Unknown Speaker 28:45
which is what those I mean, it's
Unknown Speaker 28:48
separate Well, nice, honest siblings, but his shift and Kendall, which is kind of why they despise it that so much because they've been the recipients of, you know, these before from Berlin. And they've been burned quite, you know, previously, but I think Roman is still quite, you know, stars is still quite, it's like the shiny toys still doesn't really know what is going on right now. It feels like the other kids and stuff. So I think that's probably something quite interesting to observe going forward.
Unknown Speaker 29:22
Defend the father shave. I mean, if you're, if you saw taking up all the divorce lawyers in that is definitely annoying. That's pretty sure. She was funny. She was quite upset, wasn't she? I mean, because like, what is she going to have to do now? Like, is she like, is she who are actually going to get somebody's actually, like, I guess properly secure her own part of like, you know, this separation? It's
Unknown Speaker 29:50
yeah, it's just one of those things is that because in the end, you know, all these people financially they'll be fine. In the end, they'll everybody's gonna find little things like these
