What is Stewart Vickers AI?

The audio edition of the Stewart Vickers AI YouTube channel. Each episode takes one AI release - a model, a tool, a price cut - and translates it into money for business owners: what got cheaper, who got undercut, and what to do about it this week. Operator credibility over theory, specific numbers over vibes. Every episode links the original video and the free Church of SEO Jesus community where the prompts and workflows live.

Google just put a laptop on pre-order for $899 and threw in a whole year of Gem in iAdvanced. The AI subscription alone runs $240 a year, so Google is selling you the hardware for about $660. Nobody sells a laptop at $660 unless they plan to own your subscription forever. And if you're a five-person business currently paying $70 a head every month for ChatGPT plus Claude plus Copilot, your entire software stack just became a rounding error. Pre-orders opened Monday, ships October 4th. I'm Stuart.

Let me tell you exactly what Google just did, who they just undercut, and the actual operator move for this week before Microsoft has time to answer. The Google Book is not a laptop launch. It's a distribution play. 50 million Chromebooks already sit in American schools. The school footprint was the beachhead. Your business is the second wave.

And the window between now and the Microsoft response is smaller than you think, because Google is doing something incumbents almost never do, selling hardware at cost, which means the recurring subscription is where they've decided the money moves next, and they're willing to eat the laptop margin to lock in the customer for the next five years. Here's what $899 buys you. A laptop built by Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, or Lenovo. Up to a 2, 8K OLED display, haptic trackpad, Intel or Qualcomm chip with a dedicated NPU, 14 hours of battery, 10 years of updates. Then the bundle. 12 months of Google AI Pro included.

5 terabytes of cloud 3 months of Adobe Photoshop. 99 a month. Do the math. $240 of that $899 is software. The hardware is $659. Now compare that to your current stack.

ChatGPT+, 20 bucks. Claude Pro, 20 bucks. DotCopilot PR Seat, 30 bucks. $70 a head every month before you bought a single machine, and you're still buying the machine separately. Google just collapsed both bills into one line item and priced it below the software alone. Headline delivered.

Now the ask. If you want the next Gemini, Claude, or Copilot drop to find you the day it ships, instead of showing up on next quarter's invoice, subscribe. The channel covers every AI subscription move the day it happens. The exact price math I just ran, the retailer links, and my running spreadsheet of what to cancel, sit in the pinned comment below. And The Church of SEO Jesus, my free school community, is where the Operator Playbook version of this lives and where I answer when your setup breaks. Free link below.

Now the actual math. I pulled the real numbers for a five person business. Watch the terminal. Oh wait, five people at $70 a month each is $4,200 a year in AI subs. Refresh five laptops at a thousand each, another $5,000, total $9,200. New way, five Google Books at $899 each, $4,495 all in.

12 months of AI Pro across five seats is $1,199 worth of software you don't pay for. Year one savings, $4,705, not a marginal upgrade, more than half the budget clawed back. And the number assumes you actually needed to refresh laptops this year. If your team already runs machines that work, the story flips. You're not saving $4,700, you're just spending $4,500 you weren't going to spend, which is why I asked Claude for the operator move this week. The answer that came back was not what I expected.

Watch. The answer, don't buy anything this week, cancel co-pilot, cancel one of ChatGPT or Claude, run your existing laptops another quarter, then reprice Google Books once your team survives a month on the trimmed stack, smart play, because here's what the source doesn't tell you. Google AI Pro's renewal price after the free 12 months, not stated. Do Magic Cursor and Rambler actually need the on-device NPU or just call the same Gemini AAPI your current Chromebook already can, also not stated. 99 base tier, RAM, storage, which OEM ships it, not itemized. Every one of those unknowns could tilt the year two math against you.

Then the software question nobody wants to hear. The Google Book runs Android with a desktop Chrome, not full Windows, which means if your accountant runs QuickBooks desktop, if your designer runs native Photoshop plugins, if you have one Windows-only tool in your line of business stack, the machine is a paperweight for the person who needs it. Test one seat, not five. Give it to the person on your team whose workflow is entirely browser and Google Docs. If they survive two weeks, you have a plan. If they get stuck on day three because your CRM has a Windows client, you've saved $4,000 by not buying the other four.

And here's what almost nobody is saying out loud yet. Google's playing a longer game than the price sticker implies. Because once your team spends six months inside Google Docs, Gmail, Sheets, and Gemini every single day, the switching cost to Microsoft or Apple stops being about the hardware. It becomes the muscle memory of your team. Google is subsidizing the entry point for a reason. They're not selling you a laptop, they're renting you a habit.

Now the part that matters more than the price. Microsoft has to answer this. Surface Co-Pilot Plus at $799 in November is the obvious counterpunch and it will not arrive before October 4th. So Google gets the school year, gets the small currently doing the AI subscription math on a napkin. The pricing pressure is coming to your current provider whether you buy a Google book or not. com slash store yourself right now.

Add a Google book to your cart. Look at what's actually in the bundle. Look at what Google AI Pro costs standalone the day after you pre-order. That is the proof, not me telling you. And if you want the running spreadsheet of which subscriptions to cancel this quarter and which to keep with the actual math for a one person, five person and 20 person team, it lives inside the church of SEO Jesus, my free school community. 50 million Chromebooks in American classrooms are about to become Gemini terminals. Every kid in a public school is about to grow up assuming AI comes from Google by default. Same way your parents grew up assuming search came from Yahoo or a Rolodex defaults compound. And Google just bought the default for an entire generation for $899 a head, which is the exact same play. Open AI is running through the chat GPG free tier. The exact same play.

Anthropic is running through Claude for education and the exact same play meta is running by open sourcing Lamar. The next video I filmed is on those three actually wins the classroom because the answer decides which AI your kid's generation defaults to for the next 30 years. Watch it next on the end screen.
