The Department of Health and Social Care has announced that it is committing funding to the improvement of maternity safety across the country.
£35 million will go towards recruiting more midwives, whilst also expanding specialist training to thousands more health workers. The funding will be provided over the course of three years, with this ensuring that women’s experiences are considered and acted upon to drive improvement.
Alongside this funding is a new set of priorities for the Women’s Health Strategy, including better menstrual and gynaecological care and improving the ways that women are represented in health research.

A survey has found that many teenagers have identified the NHS as their first choice of employer, with the roles of Doctor and Nurse making the top five career options.
For National Careers Week last week, thousands of children across England’s secondary schools listened to talks and watched videos to learn more of the potential opportunities that they can access if they go into a career in the NHS.
By promoting careers in the NHS to young people, the service is supporting its commitment to long-term workforce growth as it looks to cope with the increasing demand for services, as well as its Long Term Workforce Plan.
