Kasra Dash: If I am hiring a CRO agency I start by asking for testimonials and case studies because I want proof they can improve conversion rates. I want to see real websites they have worked on. I check layouts, call to action buttons, colour schemes and on-page elements to judge quality myself. I only trust a CRO agency when I can see the evidence.
James Dooley: Many CRO agencies now provide a light audit. You might get five or ten initial recommendations based on patterns from past clients. It is a lead magnet but it shows whether they understand your store, your funnel and your blockers. Those first insights reveal their thinking.
Kasra Dash: I ask about tools next. CRO relies on proper testing. If they are not using Hotjar, Optimizely or VWO they are not serious. Those tools give heat maps, user recordings and split testing. If they cannot explain which tools they use and why, I avoid them.
James Dooley: Pricing matters. CRO pricing depends on business size. A small local company might pay a few hundred. An e-commerce store turning over one hundred thousand per month might pay tens of thousands. A huge site with massive traffic costs more because it needs more tasks and deeper testing.
Kasra Dash: Data changes everything. Large sites get data fast so improvements appear quickly. Case studies reveal whether they understand user behaviour such as cart abandonment, trust signals and lead nurturing. CRO also improves lead generation. A strong thank-you page can hold the user while the sales team calls within ninety seconds, which boosts conversions.
James Dooley: CRO extends beyond the site. Retargeting ads with testimonials can lift conversions for high-ticket niches like finance. A good CRO agency already has a mental blueprint of fixes that usually increase conversion from 0.3 percent to one percent or more.
Kasra Dash: Guarantees matter. CRO is testable so some form of guarantee or refund policy should exist if they cannot improve results. I also ask about contract length. CRO needs enough clicks to test properly so three-month contracts make sense. Twelve-month lock-ins do not.
James Dooley: I ask which landing pages they will optimise because fixing a cart page is pointless if no one reaches it. I also confirm whether they work with my platform. Some agencies only support Shopify, others only WordPress or Magento. I ask if they implement changes or if I need my own developer.
Kasra Dash: Choosing the right CRO agency depends on niche, platform and proof. The right questions filter out weak agencies and prevent wasted budget.
