What is Tricia's Rose City Framing Podcast?

Certified picture framer in Tyler, Texas sharing the real stories behind the treasures people trust her to preserve — plus what it takes to run a small business the right way.

A question I hear pretty often is what people should do with vacation photos after they come back from a trip. Maybe you spent time with family, maybe you visited a place you have always wanted to see, or maybe you simply captured moments that made you smile and reminded you how special life can be.
I truly believe travel photos should not live permanently on a phone or stay hidden inside a digital folder somewhere. It’s important that the memories we create actually become part of the spaces where we live and spend our everyday lives.
One thing I have noticed over the years is that people take thousands of photos and then rarely go back and look at them again. There is something very different about seeing those memories displayed where you can enjoy them on a daily basis instead of scrolling past them months later.
The first thing I always encourage people to do is slow down and choose the images that really carry meaning for them. It can be tempting to print everything, but usually there are a handful of photos that tell the story of the entire experience better than all the rest.
Sometimes it is not about picking the perfect photo with the perfect lighting or composition. Sometimes it is simply choosing the image that immediately takes you back to a moment you never want to forget.
We really want people to think about the story behind what they are framing before they think about the frame itself. That part matters because the emotional connection often guides the entire design process better than simply matching colors in a room.
After choosing the photos, the next thing to think about is how you want those memories displayed. Some people love a single larger statement piece, while others enjoy building a collage that captures several moments from the same trip.
I also encourage people to think beyond traditional photo framing if the vacation itself was especially meaningful. Maybe you collected postcards, travel maps, ticket stubs, handwritten notes, or small keepsakes that help tell the bigger story of that experience.
Over the years we have worked on projects where people wanted much more than simply framing a picture. I absolutely love those moments because custom framing allows us to create something unique that reflects the full memory rather than just one small part of it.
I always remind people that quality materials matter more than they often realize. If these are memories you want to enjoy for years to come, proper glass, proper mounting, and preservation techniques make a very big difference.
Anybody can put a photograph into a basic frame they buy off a shelf somewhere. Not everybody understands how to preserve those images properly so they continue looking beautiful over time.
I think that is one of the reasons I care so deeply about what we do here. We are not simply helping people decorate walls, we are helping preserve moments that often represent family connection, celebration, and experiences people worked hard to create together.
Sometimes those vacation memories represent a once in a lifetime trip that may never happen again. It is important that something with that much meaning is treated with the care and attention it deserves.
Quality over quantity has always been something I believe strongly in. I would much rather help someone create one beautiful piece they treasure for years than rush through something simply because it is faster.
At the end of the day, framing is really about keeping memories alive in a way that feels personal and lasting. I truly believe the moments that matter most deserve to be seen and enjoyed instead of forgotten over time.
