Welcome, dear listeners. The wisdom of the Tanya is timeless, and today's teaching resonates with the struggles we all face in our daily lives.
In Likutei Amarim, Chapter 27, the Alter Rebbe discusses the battle against the yetzer hara, the evil inclination. He likens it to a small city, where two kings are fighting to conquer and rule. Each of us has this city within our heart, with the yetzer tov, the good inclination, and the yetzer hara vying for control.
What's remarkable is the strategy for victory. The Alter Rebbe advises that when faced with negative thoughts or feelings, we shouldn't fight them head-on. Instead, we should divert our attention, focusing on the positivity of Torah and mitzvot. It's not about suppressing our darker side but rather about channeling our energy into something greater that lifts us up.
This is a powerful message for our everyday life. We all have moments of struggle, times when negativity seems to have the upper hand. But the Tanya teaches us that we have the power to choose where to focus our thoughts and efforts. By turning to the light of Torah and the warmth of good deeds, we can strengthen our yetzer tov and bring holiness into our lives.
As we go about our day, let's remember this strategy. When challenges arise, let's not dwell on them. Instead, let's redirect our energy to positivity and growth.
Thank you for joining me today. May we all be blessed with the strength to choose wisely and fill our personal cities with light and goodness.
