the world feels out of sync from
economic warning signs to
political divides and how a
scientist from over a century
ago gives us the tools to
understand it.

Something's off in the world,
and everyone knows it.
Capitalists, communists,
religious leaders, democrats,
republicans they've all tried to
pinpoint today's problems, but
no one's nailed it.
Look at the signs no recessions
since 2008, when they used to
hit every four to six years.
Gold skyrocketing that's a
canary in the coal mine.
Treasury Secretary Scott Besson
has even talked about a new
monetary system and, after a
chaotic election, our politics
are more divided than ever.
These signals point to a world
in transition, but to decode
them we need a new approach.
That's where Jacques Loeb and
Jacques Fresco come in, starting
with Loeb's game-changing
science.
In 1912, loeb published a
groundbreaking book called the
Mechanistic Conception of Life,
where he argued that life isn't
magical.
It's like a machine Driven by
the same rules as clocks or
engines.
We'll unpack his big ideas, his
jaw-dropping experiments and
how he changed biology forever.
Most people back then and some
today thought life was special,
powered by some invisible life
force or soul.
This idea, called vitalism,
said living things like plants,
animals or humans had something
extra that science couldn't
explain.
But Jacques Loeb, he wasn't
buying it.
Born in Germany in 1859, loeb
moved to the United States and
became a scientist obsessed with
proving that life follows the
same physical and chemical rules
as everything else.
His 1912 book, the Mechanistic
Conception of Life, is a
collection of 10 talks he gave,
each one packed with experiments
to show life is predictable,
controllable and mechanical.
Loeb said that everything about
life how a seed grows into a
tree, why a bug crawls towards
light or even why you feel
hungry can be explained by
chemistry and physics.
He wanted scientists to not
just understand life but control
it, like engineers building a
machine.
If you can make a process
happen in a lab, loeb argued,
you really get how it works.
Let's dive into three key ideas
from the book and experiments
that made them unforgettable.
First up, life doesn't need a
special spark.
One of Loeb's most famous
experiments was with sea urchin
eggs.
Back then people thought
starting life, like making a
baby animal, required something
mystical, maybe a soul.
Loeb said hold on, let's try
science.
He took sea urchin eggs and
changed the salt levels in the
water around them and guess what
?
The eggs started growing into
embryos.
No sperm, no magic, just
chemistry.
This artificial parthenogenesis
meaning without needing males
was a game changer.
It showed that life could kick
off with the right chemical
recipe, like mixing ingredients
for a cake.
Lowe's point if we can control
the start of life in a lab,
we're proving it's about
physical rules, not some
mysterious force.
Next let's talk about behavior.
Lowe believed that animals, and
even humans, don't always choose
what they do.
Instead, they react
automatically to things like
light, heat or food, kind of
like a reflex.
He called these reactions
tropisms.
Think of a sunflower turning
toward the sun.
That's a tropism, an automatic
move triggered by light.
Loeb said that animal behaviors
work the same way.
One of his creepiest experiments
was with caterpillars.
He noticed caterpillars crawled
toward light every time, even
if it meant starving to death
because there was no food near
the light.
Picture this a caterpillar sees
a bright light and its body is
wired to move toward it, no
matter what.
It's not thinking yum light,
it's just following a chemical
signal in its nerves.
Loeb used this to argue that
behaviors, even ones that seem
purposeful are automatic, driven
by science, not free will.
Finally, loeb connected these
ideas to bigger stuff like human
instincts and even society.
He thought that things like
feeling scared or wanting to eat
are like tropisms Automatic

In the book he suggests that
one day we might explain
thinking, memory or emotions by
studying the brain like a
machine.
He even dreamed of using this
knowledge to make the world
better, like improving health or
creating fairer societies by
understanding how people act.
His experiments like making sea
urging eggs grow or watching
caterpillars chase light, were
steps towards showing that life
follows predictable patterns,
like a computer program running
on code.
He backed it all up with
experiments and it inspired
other scientists to do so,
paving the way for modern
biology.
Loeb didn't stop there.
1918, he wrote another book,
force Movements, tropism and
Animal Conduct, diving deeper
into how animal behaviors like
chasing light or fleeing danger
are automatic reflexes.
He used more experiments, like
the Caterpillar One, to hammer
home that life is predictable,
not random or spiritual.
Together.
These books made Loeb a rock
star in science, showing that we
can crack life's code with test
tubes and patience.
He passed away in 1924, but his
experiments from sea-arching
eggs to light-chasing
caterpillars show that life
isn't magic, it's mechanics.
Now let's bring in Jacque Fresco
, a futurist who took Loeb's
mechanistic ideas to new heights
Through his Venus Project.
Fresco applied the scientific
lens to human behavior,
economics and society.
His book the Best that Money

and shared resources eliminate
poverty and conflict.
Fresco recommended Loeb's book,
which shaped my perspective,
and his lectures at the Venus
Project offer insights deeper
than anything I've ever heard.
For those who still do not
understand, this explains more

just want to give some
background.
