David Hill: Does my presence at the services of the Lord's Church matter? Hi, David Hill with a Gospel minute. This is a frequently asked question, especially since events of recent years. _Ekklesia_, the original term for church, helps answer. It's the "called-out ones," understood and noted for assembling together. An attitude, a desire to be with those you love, is the attitude of assembling—with fleshly family, with spiritual family, and in the presence of the Lord. The early church came together daily (Acts 2:46). So what if the Lord returned on Wednesday night? Where would He find you? How about at a gospel meeting, a revival, or special programs of the church? God's people desire to be with Him and with one another. There's a command to assemble (Hebrews 10:25) that covers any time the church comes together. Christians are to be there. Why? Because your presence matters—not only for you, but also for the Christian family. Sitting behind a monitor in some remote location is not assembling. Assembling is when the whole church comes together in one place (I Corinthians 14:23). The fire is more intense when the coals come together. That's the Gospel.
