Venus Castleberg:
Hello everyone, and welcome to Awakening Adventures, where we hear real stories from real people who have had their own spiritual awakening and what they were guided to do with their new awareness.
My name is Venus Castleberg, also known as the Home Whisperer, where I use my gifts to help real estate agents clear the energy from stuck homes so they can sell with greater ease.
Today I am so excited to introduce my guest, Prema Love.
Prema Love is an internationally touring multi-instrumentalist and voice alchemist based in Maui, Hawaii—and also Bali at the moment. She has performed at major festivals and for spiritual teachers such as Ram Dass, Amma the Hugging Saint, and three Divine Mother saints of India. She has recently released her fifth album with a highly acclaimed Grammy-nominated producer.
We’ll tell you how to find her and her music in a little bit, but I have to say—when I met Prema, I was struck by her heart and her deep desire to serve. And we’re noticing a theme here on Awakening Adventures—that service seems to be a common thread among our guests.
Welcome, Prema. Thank you for being here.
Prema Love:
What an honor. Thank you so much. I’m truly blessed to be here today.
Venus:
So let’s start at the beginning. How did you have your spiritual awakening? What happened?
Prema:
Wow—so many twists and turns on the spiritual path. The short version is that I was born into a spiritual family. They were spiritual and religious, and like many families, there were karmas to work through.
My mom secretly loved astrology and angel cards and Bach flower remedies. It wasn’t talked about much, but as a child I would find her astrology books and feel very curious. Those seeds were planted early, and I always felt a strong connection to Divine Mother energy.
I went through a major spiritual awakening when I was 19. That’s a huge story, but we can dive into whatever part feels aligned.
Venus:
Yes, let’s go there. The point of this podcast is to share these stories, because spiritual awakenings are happening more and more, and people often don’t know what to do with them. Anything you can share about how it happened and how you processed it would be so helpful.
Prema:
Growing up, those spiritual seeds were there, but like many teenagers, I rebelled. Still, the spiritual energy never left me.
I was invited on a spiritual pilgrimage by people working with Amazonian herbs. At the time, I was living in Southern California and working as a vegan chef. They invited me to Northern California to visit hot springs and experience sound healing—something I had never experienced before.
That journey completely changed my life and expanded my consciousness. Later, I was guided to the Big Island of Hawaii, where I experienced another major awakening. Songs began coming through me—I hadn’t written many songs before then.
Being in the energy of Pele, the volcano goddess, awakened something raw and transformative in me. Shortly after, I had a dream where I met my spiritual teacher—Amma, the Hugging Saint. That was when my spiritual journey truly began.
Venus:
That’s beautiful. What gifts or abilities opened for you through your awakening?
Prema:
My dreams and visions became much stronger, and I began following synchronicities—songs on the radio, feathers appearing at just the right moment. Messages would come exactly when I needed them.
A friend introduced me to animal medicine and the book Animal Speaks by Ted Andrews, which opened my connection to elementals and spirit messages. Loved ones who had crossed over also began coming through.
Studying intuition in a safe container helped me trust what I was seeing. Once that veil lifted, it never closed again. I began offering intuitive readings internationally, and that remains part of my work today.
Venus:
How did you come to trust your awareness?
Prema:
Having embodied teachers helped immensely. In my younger years, I was very ungrounded, partly due to family trauma. As I did shadow work and integration, I learned how to ground the spiritual energy into my body.
For over 20 years, songs have come through me—almost like they descend through the crown and move through the energy centers. Learning to listen to myself was learning to trust myself.
Venus:
If you could go back and tell yourself something in the early days, what would it be?
Prema:
Be patient. It takes practice. And having tools, teachers, and guidance makes a huge difference. We have so many resources available now—calling in support is everything.
Venus:
How do you relate to God or Source?
Prema:
For me, it’s all one—universal and formless. The divine takes form to help us remember who we are. Whether it’s my teacher, Ganesha, or any sacred symbol, these forms activate remembrance within us so we can come home to ourselves.
Venus:
What tools help you remember who you truly are?
Prema:
Sacred music. It’s been life-changing. My father sang to me in the womb, and music has always been my primary meditation. My teacher says sacred music is one of the highest forms of meditation—and in this time, one of the easiest ways to connect to Source.
Venus:
Would you be willing to share some music with us?
Prema:
Yes, I’d love to.
(Prema offers a live Ho’oponopono forgiveness song and guided meditation.)
Venus:
That was incredibly beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing that.

If you could offer one piece of advice to someone going through a spiritual awakening, what would it be?
Prema:
Community. Sangha. You’re not alone. And being in service—service brings fulfillment and helps everything flow.
Venus:
I love that. When we stop making it about ourselves and focus on contribution, things shift. Follow your intuition about the teachers and communities that are right for you.
Thank you so much for being here, Prema.
Prema:
Grateful. Mahalo.
Venus:
