Problem Corner

Chilly Monday edition kicks off a “first snowfall” guessing game (one caller predicts overnight), plus a quick fix for a brief stream delay. Community calls roll in: 200 DVDs for $200 at Fred Meyer, Nintendo Wii ($50), Michael Kors bags and winter gear, a seller with bus tokens, and a Ram 1500 seeking 265/75R16 winter tires. Mikey in Haines checks in—offering house/dog sitting and urgently needing 30x30 pants and XL shirts—as listeners coordinate clothing deliveries (tip: try Ward Air/Haines Airways). Also noted: Rain Dogs fundraiser at the Alaskan, Eaglecrest’s Books2Boards success, and Polio Radio donors picking up Grind Coffee gift cards.

Speaker 2:

And good morning, Juno, KINY, ninety four point nine FM and Always eight hundred. It is Monday, October 27, and I'm Justin Miller hanging out y'all from the Go Blood Tram studio. I'm filling in for Ben Brown on this Monday as he is away taking care of other matters. Hope you're gearing up for a good week. It's definitely a brisk Monday morning.

Speaker 2:

It's starting the temps are definitely dropping. I was looking up on the mounds of, like, on McGuinness and Bullard on my way to the station this morning, and the snow's creeping down. Like, we had a little bit of dusting on top of Thunder in Heinzleman Ridge already, so it is it is nearing. It is nearing real close of the first snowfall. I was trying I was trying to get some folks to place some bets on when our first snowfall was gonna happen.

Speaker 2:

I only had a couple of guess. I think the first one was like the October 21, and then the other one was before Halloween, which is kind of it could have been any October. You could have won that. And then I think the next one was, like, November 11 when the snow will actually stick down here in the valley. So if you guys wanna place your bets on when our actual first snowfall is gonna happen, feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call.

Speaker 2:

(907) 586-1800. So coming out of the weekend, I know it's kind of a mellower weekend this past weekend, but there was some stuff happening. I know they had an event going on over at Delvis Club Brewery with a couple bands, kind of fundraising for the Rain Dogs' album recording. Yeah. Recording is not cheap nowadays, especially if you have a good strong engineer on your belt, and it's could definitely be a pretty pricey adventure if you're trying to record great quality music, especially multiple songs in one sitting.

Speaker 2:

And, yeah, so they definitely needed that to make sure their music gets off and out with no problems. So if you guys were able to check that out, then I hope you had a lot of fun. I saw lots of clips. I was unable to make it out to that, but looked like a good time. Alright.

Speaker 2:

No new emails so far. Let's take a peek of what may have happened on Friday. Oh, this one's tough. Oh, we got a call. I will jump to that later.

Speaker 2:

We'll get to this call. Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 3:

Morning.

Speaker 2:

Good morning. How are you doing on this Monday?

Speaker 3:

Oh, just fine. It's a nice day. Little warm. Yeah. And we still we still have those those movies, 200

Speaker 2:

Oh, yes.

Speaker 3:

200 movies for 200 for for a park at Meyer's.

Speaker 2:

Okay. At Fred Meyer's.

Speaker 3:

So they could also come out here and talk to my husband about those movies. Okay.

Speaker 4:

If anybody still wants them.

Speaker 2:

What's their phone

Speaker 5:

number again?

Speaker 3:

907 505179.

Speaker 2:

5179. Alright.

Speaker 3:

And they they just call if they wanna you know, if they if you know, not bad for 200 movies but 200.

Speaker 2:

I know. That's a great that's a great deal. And like you and I have talked to before, I'm sure you got some hidden gems in there that you won't be able to really find other than having to Yeah. Order online. But, yeah, it might be some good finds within your collection.

Speaker 3:

Yes, sir. Alright. Thank you for your service.

Speaker 2:

No problem. Thanks for calling. I'll shout that out a couple more times throughout the program.

Speaker 3:

Alrighty. Thank you.

Speaker 2:

Alright. You have a good rest of your day. You too. Alright. Bye bye.

Speaker 2:

200 movies for $200. Definitely a great deal. Like I was saying, you could probably find some hidden gems within that. They're hanging out over at Fred Meyer's today, or you could give them a call at 907505179. And we do got another call.

Speaker 2:

Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 4:

Yes. Well, thank you very much. Good morning. Thank you for taking my call. And I have a guess as far as the snowfall.

Speaker 4:

Supposedly what I'm hearing is off of your radio station, k I n y, it's going to snow overnight tonight.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. I did catch that in the weather report. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. So is today let's see. Today's the twenty seventh. So I guess if it's overnight, it would be, what, October 28 then, would be my guess?

Speaker 2:

Yeah. We could we could make it the twenty eighth.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Because I'm thinking it's it's not gonna get cold enough until well, you know, it is overnight, and I'm not looking forward to it because I'm out here at Randall. So, of course, you know, we're at higher elevation as well, so we always get more snow out here and it gets a little bit colder. But yeah. So that's my guest.

Speaker 4:

But thank you very much, and I really appreciate your program and your radio station.

Speaker 2:

I appreciate you calling in and giving me a guess. What's your first name just so in case it does snow tonight, you might be able to walk away with some movie tickets?

Speaker 4:

Oh, okay. Yeah. I that would be terrific because I'm on Medicaid, so I I I mean, I haven't been to the movie theater in years.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wow.

Speaker 4:

And I I hear, you know, every now and again, have that gentleman that is with you that he doesn't he run the cinema here in in the Valley and then going downtown as well? Yep. Yeah. But the old makes so much fun to go, but, you know, it's so expensive like everybody says with by the time you get in there and and buy popcorn and a soda pop, you're you've spent, you know, $30, whatever. Probably even more nowadays.

Speaker 4:

Who who knows? But well, thank you. Thank you for considering me. I

Speaker 2:

appreciate First name real quick?

Speaker 4:

Yes. Oh, I'm sorry. Rose.

Speaker 2:

Rose. Alright, Rose. I got you your guests written down here. So if we if we get some snow overnight, feel free. I will try to market that.

Speaker 2:

If we get other guests and or guests today during the program, I'll market one, two, three, and whatnot, and whoever guesses it right will get a ticket. And I'll announce that tomorrow morning if you are the winner.

Speaker 4:

Okay. That's terrific. One more question is I was part of the the, excuse me, the the gosh. I can't think of it. The polio.

Speaker 4:

Excuse me.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 4:

Polio Athonia. And so that afternoon, I had gone to KINY, which is, of course, like, right across the street from the the hospital Mhmm. On Channel Drive, and nobody was there. And it was, like, 04:00. So I thought, well, maybe you guys moved.

Speaker 3:

But Oh,

Speaker 4:

no. We didn't. NY.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. We didn't move. It was kind of a earlier day on Friday that we kinda closed up shop. So that's that's why no one was here around that time. So I apologize for that.

Speaker 2:

But we are we'll we'll be here today, tomorrow, and the rest of the week till actual closing time. So so I'm sorry about that having you pop over here on Friday when no one was here. So, yeah, feel free to swing by anytime, and we'll get you those gifts that you won for donating for that.

Speaker 4:

Well, thank you. Yeah. They were two gift cards to the grind Grind Coffee. Oh, that's coffee or some something like that. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

I'm not familiar with that coffee company, but I I look forward to being able to to patronize them with my gift certificates from you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. There's a there's a few locations here in town with the Grind. There's a couple down in the valley. There's one kinda over by the Federal Building there, and then there's one over by Costco. So, yeah, they have a few different locations across Juneau.

Speaker 4:

Oh, okay. Great. You know, I guess because I can't afford it, I just don't go there. But now when I you know, since I'm gonna have free certificates that will go toward coffee, I can go for

Speaker 3:

a change. Perfect.

Speaker 4:

And and enjoy. Yeah. Enjoy a mocha with some whipped cream on it.

Speaker 2:

Awesome. Oh, that sounds like a treat. Well, Rose, I got I got your guest down. I got your name down. And, yeah, feel free to swing by the station anytime to snag up those gift cards.

Speaker 4:

Thank you very much.

Speaker 2:

Of course. Appreciate it.

Speaker 4:

Have a wonderful have a wonderful day.

Speaker 2:

You as well. Thanks for calling.

Speaker 4:

You're welcome. Bye bye.

Speaker 2:

Alright. Bye bye. Alrighty. We got our well, I guess my first two snow guests have already kinda passed except the one before Halloween. So, yeah, she's throwing down her guests for overnight or technically tomorrow.

Speaker 2:

So if it snows tonight, you might be able walk I'll get give you some movie passes to get you into the movies for free. So compliments of Kenny Solomon Gross. It's always good to have him as a cohost to kinda be able to throw that kinda gift your way, guys. So looking at more events going on here in the capital city. Of course, all of our venues here in town, they love doing karaoke nights and open mic nights, so those usually happen, like, every Wednesday and Thursday.

Speaker 2:

So if you wanna jump in on that, you can, but they have on actual Halloween, the bug rave costume contest, which is being brought to you by who or is this happening? Oh, the Alaskan Hotel and Bar. So that's happening this Friday. You could also get some tickets. It is gonna be ran by Magical America.

Speaker 2:

If you have yet to see Magical America perform here in town, they definitely got quite the vibe to them. So swing on over that and rock out with some music with Magical America, and then also have a little costume contest. There is a theme. It is dress to glow, think neon. So it sounds like there's gonna be some black lights happening over there for that.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, a lot of events to be had and a lot of fun. I know Eagle Crest had their haunted house. It actually did really, really well. I saw they raised quite a bit of money for the Books and Boards program. And if you don't know much about that program, it is such a good program to get youth into winter sports, whether you've had a child that's really wanted to try skiing or snowboarding.

Speaker 2:

But obviously, the cost for equipment and to get up there and the tickets, it can definitely become a pricey hobby, but this is such a good forum for youth to go get into the sport. So if you have a middle school student, definitely consider having them register for Books to Boards. It's such a fun program. I've been involved with the program being a pass instructor up there. So yeah.

Speaker 2:

Oh, no. We got music streaming on problem corner. So, yeah, let me I will figure that out shortly. I'll try to get the streamer back up. I appreciate you emailing me that.

Speaker 2:

So let me shoot a message off real quick and see if I could get that squared away. In the meantime, I might have to hit my commercial break a little bit earlier just so I could tackle that issue. No other new emails. So let's take that commercial break right now. We'll be back with more problem corner here on KINY.

Now back to problem corner where our community meets to talk, trade, and share.

Speaker 2:

And welcome back to problem corner on KINY. I'm Justin Miller coming at you from the Gobel Atrium studio on this Monday, October 27. So I did check out the streaming issues. I've noticed this sometimes with our streams, Depending on when you lot like, pop it on or if the window's open and then you just kinda press play, it'll kinda be behind time. So sometimes just refreshing it, especially if you're doing it on browser, just refreshing that browser and replaying play live, it should kick you back on time because I did just check the stream on my phone on the Juno Media Center app, and it was pretty normal.

Speaker 2:

I heard the last tale of few seconds of me talking before I hit the commercial break. So, yeah, streaming is on. So if you wanna just try resetting that, then that should be the fix. We do gotta call. Let's jump right to it.

Speaker 2:

Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 13:

Hi. How are you doing?

Speaker 2:

I'm doing alright. How are you doing?

Speaker 13:

I'm hanging in there.

Speaker 2:

Is this is this Mikey from Hanes?

Speaker 13:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Oh, hi. I'm starting to recognize your voice.

Speaker 1:

How are

Speaker 2:

you doing today? Well,

Speaker 13:

just a second. Okay. I'm I'm I'm here. I'm gonna get some testing done tomorrow and see what was going on with my cancers and blood cells and everything else.

Speaker 3:

Okay. Hey.

Speaker 13:

I'd like to shout out the people in Haines that anyone need to call me and set appointment date for them to go on vacation for me to do house sitting with the animals, for the dogs. And also, and I'm looking for some clothes really bad. I mean, I'm losing a lot of weight because my chemo and stuff. And I wear a size thirty thirty, and I like to wear extra large shirts.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 13:

But if young people in Haines, if they could really could help out a whole lot, then let me know because it's not doing good losing weight and then having problem with finding some clothes, you know.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 13:

And it's just I lost a lot of weight and it's just really hard to find some clothes to wear. And I was at the but I was sitting in New York in Hain. People call me ahead of time so I could I could mark it down my calendar and realize that I have no right to come from my house or going back home.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 13:

My number is 90752611. Don't be afraid to call me, you know. I need some any type support and I would like to help people out, you know, when they go on vacation. I could take care of the animals and stuff, you know. I'm a I'm a dog lover

Speaker 2:

Oh, great.

Speaker 14:

And so

Speaker 13:

if anyone could call me ahead of time for November or they could call me like in October, about almost in October right now, so that I could talk to y'all and then set appointments for y'all going on vacation like we're doing house sitting.

Speaker 2:

Perfect.

Speaker 13:

But I do need a ride, you know, from my house to your house. And when y'all come back, I need a ride from your house going back home.

Speaker 2:

Alrighty. I will shout that out over the airways a couple more times, and let's try to get you some clothes and get you some house sitting, dog sitting gigs.

Speaker 13:

Well, I really do need clothes really, really bad because it's I'm lost all the weight because I'm doing my treatment stuff and I do need some clothes. Right? And I had no transportation to come get them or nothing.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 13:

But I I could get the information. I mean, well, if they could call me or text me or something, and I will let you know where I live at. And so it'd be really nice if somebody could help me out with this situation.

Speaker 2:

Alrighty, mister. Let's see if we could get you some help. I appreciate your call. And, yeah, I hope everything goes well with the testing soon. And, yeah, I'm I'm praying for you and keep on fighting, mister.

Speaker 13:

It's not easy, buddy.

Speaker 2:

It's not easy. I've seen it in my I've had it happen to my family numerous times, and I've seen the toll it takes on a body. So I

Speaker 13:

It is. It it's it's very hard to try to, you know, and get your strength going, you know, and and then when you get your strength going, it's fighting the body and wanting to give up on you, and I can't do that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Well, keep on fighting, Mikey. We're we're behind you. Southeast Alaska's behind you and let's see if we could get some folks to reach out to you to help you out with some clothing and some

Speaker 13:

How is that? Some jobs on. Yeah. Just like I say, to give me a call ahead of time. And like I say, it's 907512611.

Speaker 13:

Don't be afraid to talk to me. I mean, I don't have much friends at all around here. And so I just need somebody. Anything I could do to help anyone out, and please let me know.

Speaker 2:

Alrighty. Well, I appreciate your call. I will hopefully hear from you soon, and you have a good rest of your day.

Speaker 13:

You too. Bye bye.

Speaker 2:

Alright. Bye bye. Alright. Let's try to get that mister some clothing. It's it's very it's very tough.

Speaker 2:

I've seen the toll cancer takes on my fam like, I've had my grandfather with pancreatic cancer, just

Speaker 5:

a toll that I took on him.

Speaker 2:

And, yeah. Let's try to get him some comfier clothing to be able to hang out in and maybe some house sitting, dog sitting gigs. Alright. I got a couple calls on. Let's jump right to the phones.

Speaker 2:

Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 4:

Yes. Hello. I just heard Mikey on the line. This is Rose again.

Speaker 3:

Go

Speaker 4:

ahead. But I didn't realize that he was in Haines, and I'm the one with all the jeans that I wanted to give away. And I know that he is, like, a a 30, is that correct? He said Yeah.

Speaker 2:

He said thirty thirty for pants and then an XL Yeah. For shirts.

Speaker 4:

Okay. Yeah. Because I have plenty of of jeans here and they're, you know, of course jeans, women and men can wear them. So I have those that I can send to him, but I I can't afford the, you know, the freight fees. Oh, right.

Speaker 4:

That's only

Speaker 2:

thing. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

With the Hanes.

Speaker 2:

The But

Speaker 4:

somebody is gonna make a trip.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I was just about to say that. It's like, the beautiful thing about Southeast Alaska, there's usually someone venturing up that way eventually. So, yeah, maybe someone could reach out and tell them, like, hey, I'm gonna make my way up to Haines here shortly. I'd love to get in contact with some like, from folks that wanted to help you out from Juneau, and so maybe we could get someone here in town to maybe help out with that.

Speaker 4:

Okay. Yeah. That'd be terrific. I do have his telephone number, so maybe he is aware of somebody here in Juneau that is going to make a trip back to Haines, and I'd be more than happy, sir, to meet them, like, in the valley or downtown and bring the clothing. I I just don't have any men's clothing.

Speaker 4:

It's all, you know, women

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

Men's clothing. But, I mean, the jeans, like I said, they're, you know, men and women. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Sure. I'm sure you'll greatly appreciate it either way.

Speaker 4:

He doesn't wanna put on a a girl's tank top, I'm sure. But, you know, I'll take I'll take the tank tops down to Saint Vincent, The Salvation Army. But yeah. I mean, it's it's all for free. So I just you know, I'm I'm 64 now.

Speaker 4:

I'm not a size ten anymore, unfortunately. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

But we we don't

Speaker 4:

wanna we don't wanna go there. Alright. That's awesome. Yeah. I'll give Mikey a call and see if I can arrange something Yeah.

Speaker 4:

That you have him his because I've heard it numerous times wanting clothing, and and I have this, but I thought he was in Juneau. I apologize for that.

Speaker 2:

He's in Haines. Yeah, let's see if we could get some community members and maybe get in contact with Mikey or with you. Yeah. And Yeah. Do you wanna leave your phone number with me just in case if someone wants to link up with you with that?

Speaker 4:

Absolutely. Yes. Okay. My telephone number is 907 209-5842. And my name is Rose, and I'm out here at Randall.

Speaker 4:

And I don't make it into the valley that frequently because I'm trying to, you know, not drive too much because of the gas. It's so expensive, and Mhmm. I'm on a budget. So I try not to have to drive unless I absolutely need to, but it's no problem. I'll I'll do it for him.

Speaker 4:

That's for damn excuse me.

Speaker 2:

Oh, you're good. No. You're good. Yeah. You're no.

Speaker 2:

You're safe with that word.

Speaker 4:

Darn sure. Okay. So, yeah. Darn sure that I would help him. Absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Well, I I appreciate that greatly, Rose, that you're willing to help Mikey out. And, yeah, let's try to get some folks to see how we could help him out more.

Speaker 4:

Absolutely. I mean, my heart just goes out to the young man, and it just really killed me to know that he's going through chemotherapy. But like I said, I didn't realize that he was in Haines, but that kinda put a damper on things for me, but to get him clothing. But we'll we'll we'll work something out because there's a lot of people that travel back and forth.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. Definitely.

Speaker 3:

I would love to

Speaker 4:

go to Haines myself, I just can't afford it.

Speaker 3:

Yep. So but Oh,

Speaker 2:

that's cool.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. So hopefully, there's somebody that will be heading out his way and we can deliver some clothing. And they're brand new too. Sister, you know, she's one of those ritzy ones, you know. She'd be all she'd buy like the Tommy Hilfiger and the London

Speaker 2:

Oh, nice.

Speaker 4:

Jeans and oh, yeah. I know.

Speaker 5:

And they're rarely worn.

Speaker 4:

Right. I know. So then she hands them off to me way back in the day, you know, whatever, twenty years ago. Well, you know, I could have worn a size ten pant anymore. And so I have them available, and I I I would rather give them to a good cause than take them down to, you know, some other companies here Mhmm.

Speaker 4:

In June. I won't mention any any names, but I'd rather just donate to an individual or individuals that need clothing. What if there's females out there that need, you know, the jeans, I can drive into the valley and give them, you know, jeans as well as Mikey in Haines.

Speaker 2:

So Perfect.

Speaker 4:

I have plenty. I have I have plenty. They can go through them. They're they're they range from, like, size six to twelve, and most of them are, you know, long, but the people can roll them up too, you know? Mhmm.

Speaker 3:

Because I

Speaker 4:

have longer legs, I think my sister had longer legs too, so we'd always have the longer jeans that are of regular, because otherwise, they'd be too short.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

So that's,

Speaker 4:

you know, the only thing, and if there's some females out there that need female clothing, like tank tops or sweaters, I have that too, they're a size size large for the females. And they're free.

Speaker 2:

And free. We all look free.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. And they're in really, really good shape. Everything's in really, really good shape. Oh, And definitely smell or anything like that. And my sister always took excellent care of her clothes.

Speaker 4:

I, you know, tried to take excellent care of mine. And, you know, I mean, they're outdated a little bit. Some of them are maybe, you know, 30 years old, but they're still in really, really good shape. I mean, sweaters never go out of fashion anymore.

Speaker 2:

Definitely not. Well, Rose, I hate to I hate to shift gears with you, but I do have another caller that's been waiting patiently. But I do have all your information. So I'll shout that out Absolutely. And see if we could get people connected with you.

Speaker 4:

Okay. Thank you very much. Have a wonderful day. Bye bye.

Speaker 2:

No problem. Thanks for your call again.

Speaker 3:

You're welcome. Bye bye.

Speaker 2:

Alright. Bye bye. I'm glad she called back because, yeah, she really wants to help Mikey out. So she did leave her phone number. So if someone wants to get in contact with Rose who is planning on going to Hanes, maybe do a little clothing exchange, her number is 907209848 no.

Speaker 2:

209-5842. And we do got more calls. Let's jump right to it. Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner.

Speaker 2:

You're live and on the air.

Speaker 15:

Hey. What's up, buttercup? How you doing? How come

Speaker 2:

How come? What? I'm doing alright. How are you doing today?

Speaker 15:

Did I confuse you?

Speaker 2:

A little bit. I was like, wait, is there more?

Speaker 15:

Yeah. Kind of in a tough spit spot. I have a couple of cars that need to be worked on, and I'm kinda bumming because I got my dividend today. And the IRS took 60% of it, so it's kinda making me, you know, a little bit angry, but, you know, you gotta deal with what you gotta deal with. But I am looking for a mechanic that's cert certifiable, you know, that knows what he's doing and, you know, I it's kinda hard to afford these, you know, garages and stuff like that.

Speaker 15:

So I'm definitely looking for a mechanic, knows what he's doing. I've had a couple of them already said they'd do a job for me, but they keep, you know, prolonging it and prolonging it.

Speaker 3:

Oh, that's awesome.

Speaker 15:

I got it. Winter's coming and my job is ending and kind of bumming because I drive for I'm driving for Catholic community and they lost a bit so I'm gonna be losing my job and

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. I heard about

Speaker 15:

And I'm looking for another one so it's kind of a I'm kind of in a pickle, if you know what I mean. But

Speaker 14:

but yeah, if there's a

Speaker 15:

mechanic out there, please please give me a call, I sure need some help. Other than that, I couldn't have a Tyler's.

Speaker 2:

Hang on. I need your phone number, mister, if we need to get you in contact with a mechanic.

Speaker 15:

You don't know my phone

Speaker 13:

number yet?

Speaker 2:

I don't know.

Speaker 4:

I don't have

Speaker 2:

it memorized. I should have it in the I have few of our frequent callers' numbers almost memorized.

Speaker 15:

Okay. Okay. My number is (907) 209-1840.

Speaker 2:

+1 84 I should I should know that. +1 840. Alright, mister. I will shout that out and see if we could get you some can of help. Always good hearing from you, mister.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, let's try to see if we could get a handy mechanic certifiable to get in contact with you. Again, your number is (907) 209-1840. And we got more calls. Let's jump right to it. Hi.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air. Hi.

Speaker 3:

I have a few things for sale.

Speaker 2:

Okay. What you got?

Speaker 3:

I've got some Michael Kors purses. Oh.

Speaker 5:

I've got

Speaker 3:

a memory card, some perfume. I've got a a couple Nike winter jackets for sale. K. I've got a women's new shoes still in the box.

Speaker 2:

Size of those shoes?

Speaker 14:

A Roku.

Speaker 2:

A Roku.

Speaker 3:

And a Fire Stick for sale.

Speaker 2:

A Fire Stick. Alrighty. Anything else? Is that it?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I think that's it. I was wondering if anyone knows that if anyone's still getting their Social Security?

Speaker 2:

I have not heard much on that. I know some folks have been having issues with their disability checks with lately with the federal shutdowns, but that's as far as I've heard on the program. I haven't heard as much as far as Social Security goes.

Speaker 3:

Okay. Yeah. Wasn't sure if anyone's getting their Social Security yet or not.

Speaker 2:

But I could definitely look into that and maybe give you an answer either today's program or sometime tomorrow.

Speaker 3:

Okay. My number is 508564.

Speaker 2:

8564. Alright. I'll shout out those items for sale, and I'll look into what's happening with Social Security.

Speaker 3:

Thanks.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. No problem. Thanks for the call. Alrighty. So, yeah, that she has quite a handful of items, Michael Kors purses, a memory card, perfume, Nike winter jackets, Roku and Fire Sticks.

Speaker 2:

Got some brand new lady shoes. So if you're interested in any of those, give her a call at 907-5084 8564. And then if anyone's gotten any information on Social Security as far as has a bit really been affected by the federal shutdowns, are you are you still getting payments? Definitely let me know. And we got more calls.

Speaker 2:

Let's jump right to it. Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 14:

Hello.

Speaker 3:

I have listened to a few phone calls that were kinda long winded.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm.

Speaker 3:

And I am in a mood today, but I must say, listening to your program has helped me find a better attitude.

Speaker 2:

Oh, good.

Speaker 3:

Right. Right. So I have some advice or something that might be might want to do. You can reach out to Haines Airways or Ward Air. I I was I was in Hanes for a while off and on.

Speaker 3:

I used to be married to a fisherman over there.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

And Hanes Airways and Ward Air will gladly help, but it has to get he just has to reach out to them and set up, like, an account of something. And I'm I'm pretty sure that they would help us get some close to him.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's great. I didn't even I didn't really think about the smaller plane outfits possibly being able to zip over there to support someone or even get something to someone over there. But, yeah, I know they always do freight and courier services, so that totally makes sense.

Speaker 3:

Sure. And I don't know about the ferries so much. Know, whatever it is like, but

Speaker 2:

That was a great suggestion.

Speaker 3:

Always will help out also, you know, in care of, you know, helping Mikey out.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Let's try to get that gentleman some help. Know it's tough.

Speaker 3:

I'd like to reach out to the the companies over there.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

They were awesome with with me. I've also been through cancer three times, so

Speaker 2:

Oh, alright on. Okey dokey. I got that written down. Hopefully, Mikey's still listening. Maybe he could go check that out or some other community members could go to that.

Speaker 3:

Tomorrow and and call tomorrow and whoever's hopefully, he'll be getting a problem with Hunter tomorrow.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I'll be on tomorrow.

Speaker 3:

But, yeah, maybe make note for when he calls and just say this was just me guessing from, know, caring a listener who is also has stuff that I could I could give him, but I'm also here in June.

Speaker 2:

Okay. Yeah. I know I

Speaker 3:

didn't hear all the all the stuff that attorney Rose had. Mhmm. I'm in desperate need of jeans and some more winter size winter whatever boots or shoes for the weather that is to come.

Speaker 2:

Okay. Do you need her phone number again?

Speaker 3:

Yes. I just I was just trying to get away from my radio.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay. Alright. Rose's number for the lady clothing is (907) 209-5842.

Speaker 3:

5842. And I'm not sure if anybody has any yard work, or, like, or cleaning, anything that they would like to or, like, have done for some later work.

Speaker 2:

Are you looking for work or, like, someone to work on your stuff or for you to work on other people's

Speaker 3:

stuff? No. I'm looking for some extra work.

Speaker 2:

Okay. You know,

Speaker 3:

Halloween stuff and Thanksgiving, everything coming up. This is a great time of year to be shocking to me.

Speaker 13:

Right.

Speaker 3:

Right now, I'm worried about Social Security disability. I haven't heard anything changing on disability. I've been hearing a lot of stuff about me. We're not gonna get food stamps. I don't know if that applies to everybody.

Speaker 3:

I've been checking my Quest card, and it doesn't say anything different on the free toll free number.

Speaker 2:

Okay. Yeah. I I need to do some more researching on my end. I've it's not that I don't wanna be paying attention to that, but it's like I I was as always, like, problem core, we try to keep it local, but, obviously, it's affecting our locals. So let me do a little more research on my end and see how it's affecting us.

Speaker 3:

Has surrendered me $1,200 in the last four months.

Speaker 13:

Oh, wow.

Speaker 3:

It took out 500 out of one check and 700 out of a different check.

Speaker 2:

Okay. And is that lower than usual? Or is that kinda It

Speaker 3:

was something to do with Medicaid or Medicare. Funny thing is I don't go get any prescription meds. I have got kind of going to doctors and stuff. It's just things going on with my life. And Medicaid, Medicare, they're taking stuff out for prescriptions.

Speaker 3:

Well, I'm not taking any

Speaker 2:

Okay. That's that's definitely very strange.

Speaker 3:

And it's just something that you have to, like, go through and deal with them. It's just complicated to get to a blind person to do it.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay. Alrighty. I do have another call waiting patiently, but what's a good phone number for the yard

Speaker 3:

Oh, thank you so much. Yes. It's 907209 6819.

Speaker 2:

6819. Alrighty.

Speaker 3:

Yes. I hope Mikey can at least even make a phone call to them because I'm sure the people in the wings and hang to hangs airwaves, I'm sure that they listen to Problem Corner also.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I'm sure they do. I know we've I've had some folks from Ward Air say that they've listened to problem corner. So, yeah, let's see if we

Speaker 5:

could get some folks to reach

Speaker 3:

out. People on the line and enjoying the show. Thank you for helping me find a better attitude.

Speaker 2:

Of course. I appreciate you calling in and sharing your voice with us.

Speaker 3:

Alright. Well

Speaker 2:

Alrighty. You have a good rest of your Monday, and hope to hear from you soon. Alright. We'll jump to that next phone call. Hi.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 16:

Yes. I'm still trying to sell these these bus tokens. Yes. I'm at (907) 500-7369.

Speaker 2:

7369.

Speaker 16:

My apartment number is 207.

Speaker 2:

207.

Speaker 16:

So they they have a message board here, and the people at the front desk will take a message. Just leave your initials and phone number. I have 21 bus tokens that I really really need to sell. Alright. Oh my god.

Speaker 16:

I I really didn't think the government shutdown was gonna this long.

Speaker 2:

I don't think any of us really thought it was gonna last this long, and it's kind of bananas that it is lasting this long, and yeah, we just Well,

Speaker 16:

one thing is that I'm really angry about the I hope the Democratic Party realizes that they're losing a lot of constituents. A

Speaker 3:

lot

Speaker 16:

of Democrats are turning independent and or just flat out Republican Mhmm. Because the it's Democrats are doing it this time. In previous government shutdowns, well, Republicans doing it. Mhmm. And it's just as damaging to everybody no matter which party is doing it.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 16:

So I I hope the democratic I I can't believe that the democratic leadership at this point has gone this far. It's like, oh, well, they can just suffer. Well, why don't they just suffer? Why don't they just shut down their own but they get paid. They're getting paid.

Speaker 16:

They're they're they're getting money.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 16:

Don't know how they're doing it.

Speaker 2:

I don't know either. That's a But

Speaker 16:

they're still getting money. And they're still pulling their bank accounts while everybody everybody else's bank account is running out. And you can't just live off of nothing.

Speaker 2:

Nope. Especially, you know, a lot of American people are getting heavily in heavily not influenced, but they're getting hit by this shutdown in, like, Alaskan and all of the country.

Speaker 16:

I hope that a lot of peep that a lot of the Democratic leadership is realizing that they're losing a lot of their own constituency.

Speaker 13:

Right.

Speaker 16:

They're getting they're becoming less and less and less important to anybody. Everybody is like, well, Democrats are aren't doing their job. Mhmm. And, I I'm sorry. I I have been in the past, I voted Democrat.

Speaker 16:

And I've never voted Democrat ever again. I've had it with them. They're just I'm shutting the door on them just like they're shutting the door on me.

Speaker 2:

So that and that's fair. Yeah.

Speaker 16:

But I should not be begging for spare change. I should I'm actually considering going over to Walmart and flying a sign asking people for spare change. And I never thought I'd get into this situation, but I'm driven to it by the Democrats. That Speaker of the House, he's gotta go. I've had enough of them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I feel you, mister. And I do have another call, but I do greatly 21

Speaker 16:

bus tokens that I'm trying to sell. 907500. 5007369. Alright. Apartment Number 207.

Speaker 2:

207. Alright. I'll make sure I let people know to leave a message for Apartment 207 when they call you for those bus tokens. Yeah. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Alright. I do greatly appreciate your calling.

Speaker 16:

You're you're actually my favorite problem corner.

Speaker 2:

What was that?

Speaker 16:

You're my favorite problem corner host.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I appreciate that.

Speaker 16:

You're always polite and respectful. And I'm sorry to say there was a previous, I won't say names, that was had an air of superiority towards everybody.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I try not to be like that. We're all community members here. We're all living in the same town, trying to do the same thing and live our lives. So, yeah, sometimes we just be aware of things.

Speaker 2:

So I I I greatly appreciate that compliment from you, mister, and I hope you have a great rest of your Monday.

Speaker 16:

Thank you for being such a a polite problem, quarter host.

Speaker 2:

Thank you. Alrighty. I'll go and shift to the next call. You have a good one, and I'll shout out your number again for the bus tokens. Alright.

Speaker 2:

Let's go to this next phone call. I've been waiting patiently. Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 14:

Oh, I'm say something about the previous couple callers there. And one guy played said it's all the Democrats who are, you know, keeping the country down and covering the shutdown and all that. I'd like to see old Trump so weak and all that shit. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 2:

Nope. Sorry, mister. I I get that we get yeah. I I I was catching on with what you're about to say, and I yeah. It's it's very double party.

Speaker 2:

Each party just got a hand in place. Yes. One did more than the other, but, yeah, we just need to shake it out. We need to get it straightened up. And I really hope the folks that are getting hit the most by the government shutdown, we get this fixed up sooner than later.

Speaker 2:

And we got more calls. Let's jump right to it. Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 16:

Yeah. Hello. I'm looking for a set of tires for a winner for a 1,500 series Dodge Ram, and they're $2.65 75 r sixteens.

Speaker 2:

$2.65 75 r sixteens. That's the size you need?

Speaker 16:

Yeah. Yeah, sir. Okay. And and I need to set them up with somebody who's got some out there. My number is (907) 209-4197.

Speaker 2:

4197. Alright. And it's for a 1,500 Dodge Ram truck?

Speaker 16:

Yes, sir.

Speaker 2:

Alrighty. I got that ran down. Let's see if I can get you those tires.

Speaker 16:

Thank you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. No problem. Thanks for the call. Alright. Next call.

Speaker 2:

We'll get them on. Hi. Welcome to Problem Corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 14:

Hey. Good morning. I have a Nintendo Wii for sale. I have no batteries for, like, the controls and stuff.

Speaker 13:

Mhmm. But I

Speaker 14:

have a week or so. Probably, like, $25. No. No. Not $20.

Speaker 14:

$50.

Speaker 2:

15 or 50? $5.00. $5.00. Gotcha.

Speaker 3:

And you can doesn't come with

Speaker 2:

No games?

Speaker 14:

Doesn't come with any battery. No games. Just have a Wii. The cord on it's kinda a little messed up, but it's it's fixed with electrical tape. So it works, though.

Speaker 14:

It plugs in.

Speaker 2:

Okay. Alrighty. So $50 for Nintendo Wii with controllers, like two controllers and the nunchucks, the joystick add ons?

Speaker 14:

I have the one nunchuck and two controllers. Yes.

Speaker 3:

Alright.

Speaker 14:

No batteries.

Speaker 2:

Gotcha. Well, that's easy. They're they're double bat double a batteries.

Speaker 14:

Yeah. Yeah. I have the sensor and everything and stuff. All parts for it. Just no batteries for it.

Speaker 2:

Alrighty. I got that written down. What's a good phone number for you?

Speaker 14:

That's (907) 501-1029.

Speaker 2:

+1 029. So 501-1029.

Speaker 14:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Alrighty. I got now. Text you.

Speaker 14:

Thank you. Thank you. Have good day.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. You as well. Thanks for calling with that. Oh, good old Nintendo Wii asking $50. This comes with two controllers and one nunchuck.

Speaker 2:

Doesn't have batteries in it, but that's an easy fix. You just get some double a batteries and slap those suckers in there. All the things, no games included, just the console itself. So if you have a Wii that's kinda doesn't work quite right right anymore, definitely give them a call at (907) 501-1029. We got time for maybe one more quick call.

Speaker 2:

Let's jump to it. Hi. Welcome to problem corner. You're live and on the air.

Speaker 3:

I got through again. Way to play patch interference on that last call.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I got a little bit of feedback on your call here. Alright. Let's try that again. Alrighty. So sorry before I cut you off.

Speaker 3:

Play pass interference.

Speaker 2:

Oh, no worries. Yeah. Sometimes, we always gotta remember we are on public radio, so really gotta know certain topics get us heated up. And but we still gotta keep ourselves in check and that we gotta watch our language on the radio wave. So last final two last couple minutes.

Speaker 2:

Usually, I like to take this last couple minutes and just go through the calls that we've had so far. So if you guys need to get in contact with me, if it's very urgent, you could always shoot me an email at k I n y radio dot com, and I could read it on the air tomorrow. So first call of the day, we had the lady with the 200 movies for sale for $200. They're gonna be hanging out over at Fred Meyer's for a bit today, or you could give them a call at 907505179. And then we had Rose with her snowfall prediction of possible overnight snow.

Speaker 2:

So if it snows overnight and I wake up in the morning and there's snow on the ground, she might be walking away with a couple movie passes. She also has some female clothing. And if you're interested in the clothing or willing to try to help her out, get those over to Mikey and Hanes, give her a call at (907) 209-5842. And, of course, Mikey with the call, is willing to offer house and dog sitting services in this town of Hanes. He is also in desperate need of clothing, thirty thirty pants and XLR shirts.

Speaker 2:

He does need a heads up on the house and dog sitting services, and he does need a ride to and from the property. The the number to call for him is 907502611. And then we had our good friend calling in for looking for some mechanical help. He's got a couple of rigs that needs to be worked on. He needs it definitely worked on before winter hits.

Speaker 2:

So if you're a mechanic, you're car savvy, maybe you could help them out for a reasonable price, $9.00 $7.02 $0.09 $1.08 $4.00. And then one set of bunch of items for sale, the Michael Kors bag, memory card, perfume, Nike winter jacket, female shoes, a Roku and Fire Stick. If you're interested in any of those items, you could call 907508564. And then a great suggestion was getting in contact with Aynes airways or Ward Air to get stuff over to Mikey and Haynes. They also are offering yard work to help those folks get ready for winter.

Speaker 2:

(907) 209-6819. And then our good friend with the bus tokens, call at 907507369, and make sure you leave the, the message for Apartment 207. Also in search of tires for Fifth 1500 Dodge Ram. If you got some of those, '2 sixty five seventy five r sixteens, call 907. 209-4197.

Speaker 2:

And then the Nintendo Wii with the controllers and the one nunchuck, 9075011029. And that takes us right to the end of the you guys just so much for joining me today with all the calls, great conversations. Now I'll catch you guys tomorrow here on KINY's problem corner.
