Welcome to the AHRN Minute. My name is Jenny Nielsen, and today we're breaking down the difference between the Montgomery GI Bill and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

The Montgomery GI Bill pays you a fixed monthly amount that you can use for tuition, books, housing, or other education costs. It's a good fit for some students, especially if tuition is lower or if you prefer predictable monthly payments.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill is the more commonly used option. It pays tuition directly to your school, provides a monthly housing allowance if you're enrolled more than half-time, includes money for books and supplies, and may even let you transfer benefits to a spouse or child if you meet the eligibility requirements.

One important thing to remember: if you switch from the Montgomery GI Bill to the Post-9/11 GI Bill, that decision is permanent.

Before making your choice, compare your eligibility and the benefits that matter most to you.

That’s your AHRN Minute, and thanks for listening!
