Full show transcript:
Alright, check this out. You know Ken. You know Ken. Ken from Barbie and Ken? Ken the doll. Yes. You know Ken. I do know again. They're
making a Lenny Kravitz Ken doll.
No.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's really what I wanted you to. Because I know you like Ken, and you're not like a huge Lenny Kravitz fan. And so this Lenny Kravitz thing. What a time like not timely thing.
I'm not, it's not what I'm I don't like Lenny Kravitz. Like I think he's fine as a person. I just there was a lot of a lot of years where people were like, oh, Lenny Kravitz is so hot. And I'd say, Lenny Kravitz just kind of looks like he needs a shower.
He does. You're right. So does his doll. So there they've launched this Ken Basseter program. Okay. He's only the second man to get his own Ken doll. Ooh, who's the first? So the other person to have their own Ken doll is LeBron James.
Weird. I know. Uh anyway.
And why were these two? I don't know. That's so funny.
Did you see the uh have you seen the doll? I'm looking at him right now. He's got low rise pants on.
Yeah, on brand. He's got the cool dreads. He's got like the he's got sunglasses. Of course. Of course. The big bug eye sunglasses, but then when he takes them off, I don't like his face without the glasses.
Have you seen him without it? You never see Lenny Kravitz's face without sunglasses. I don't like it.
Um did you wear glasses in Hunger Games? No. I didn't think so. Uh I can't remember. He probably did. There's no way he did.
He's 109.
Is that how much they're charging for it? Yeah. That's insane. Why do they gotta show him with the shirt off? They're like, look, we put his tattoos on him, and here he is without his not that the shirt he's wearing is much of a shirt anyway, but dude.
I'm just saying when Lenny Kravitz shows up to the Barbie Dream House. Oh, yeah?
It's gonna get crazy.
I don't know, man. The fashion shoot that they did with this doll is hilarious. They got like a close-up of his little jeans and boots. Oh, it's so funny. Anyway, it's how much? 109. You gotta be kidding me.
I think it's wouldn't it be hilarious if that was your job? I'm the professional photographer for Barbie brand.
Yeah, that's actually a really good job.
I want that job. awesome. That job would be super good.
They made it all foggy in the background and stuff. It's so funny. Anyway. That's so awesome. You had to pose him just right with his little arms. So funny.
And why did they you don't know why they picked up
a lot of things? I don't know that what the Ken Basseter thing is. No, but Basseter Yeah, I don't know I don't know the whole thing about it.
But when did the LeBron James one come out? Last year. Okay. Yeah.
The LeBron James Barbie is pretty funny. Because it's I mean, he's I don't know if he's taller than most of them, but that's kind of funny. But he's got on his little letterman jacket, his LeBron James Letterman jacket and his crossbody bag and LeBron James. He's got on the King James hat and stuff. Like he's wearing, you know, little jeans, and he's got on his little jeans. basketball shoes. is LeBron James. Yeah.
It looks like him.
It does. I know these are like really good when it comes to like looking like the person. Like sometimes you see like they made the Harry Potter dolls, and I'm like, that doesn't look like Hermione. You missed the mark. Yeah. But these are good.
These are really good. Anyway, I'm not spending the money, but if you really need a Lenny Kravitz doll, you sure can get one. I'm okay. You sure? I'm good.
Okay. Here's today's show. Today's one of those days where I say to myself, man, I'm glad that it's Friday, but also I have so much to do.
Do you have Yeah. What are you going on going on today? Everything. I have so much to get done before tomorrow. Uh and before I can leave today and feel like I've accomplished my to-dos for the week. I'm sorry. Yeah, so it's uh it's a busy one, I think today.
I took the day off of my other job. I know. How's that? Well, it hasn't happened yet. Oh.
It has. Because I feel like the the the I'm gonna clock in on Sunday early because I dread going to work, has the exact opposite side of a coin. That is, I don't have to work after the show, so I'm pretty easy breezy. I'm pretty easy breezy. Right.
I'm wore some shorts today. I would normally wear shorts to work. That's what I'm saying.
You're as fast as you'll clock in on a Sunday, you can clock out on a Friday. Yeah. Yeah. Great. Sounds good. Yeah. I have so much to do. I'm sorry. I have nothing to do. Do you want some projects? You made the grossest face just then. Oh yup.
Who wants projects?
I have several I could hand off. Today? No. On a Friday. Yes, on a busy Friday. Yes. What kind of projects are they? Oh, there's so many. Oh. I have a lot. A lot of stuff to do. I've got some website stuff I have to build. Oh, I don't know how to do that. I know. I'll teach you.
No. You can't teach me on a Friday.
I've got some there's some big promotions kicking off tomorrow that everything has to be built today for multiple promotions. It's gonna be busy.
It's gonna be busy. Yeah. Yeah.
So I uh I'm having one of those mornings where I'm like, all right, how much can I multitask into the morning so that I don't have to really kind of stress?
I get it. You know, multitask. I want to try. Do it. See how much you can get done. I have faith in you. I believe you. You got this. Oh, okay.
I'm gonna have to have you voice some stuff. Like there's things that I have to have you involved in, too.
All right. I'm I'm here in April.
I'm gonna stretch my workload and push some that way. Subtly. You won't even realize you're doing work. Well, now I will. No. Now that you've told me you'll just question everything and go, Am I doing work? Is this work you're making me do? And I'll say, No, this is normal stuff. No, this feels like work. I hate work. And I'm clocked out because I have the rest of the day off after the show.
Yeah. Yeah. All right. I'm already planning what I'm eating for lunch. What are you eating for lunch? I don't know. I've got lots of ideas. Oh.
Do I am I invited? Yeah. Oh. Okay. Cool. All right. Okay. I'm kind of looking forward to that.
Do you have time? I have time. Okay. I'll just have to work late.
That doesn't matter to you. You've got the day off. Yeah, I took the day off. Yeah. Woohoo. Good for you. Okay, let's do some good news here. This morning in England, a tiny fox cub named Chance was hit by a car and left for dead and is making a miracle comeback thanks to private swimming lessons. What? Yeah. So rescuers took chance in after uh his back legs stopped working and a local dog spa stepped up to give him free swims in their warm hydrotherapy pool to help him build his strength back up.
That's so great.
Yeah, the water treatment has been working really, really well. And Chance is now kicking his back legs. He's standing up on his own to give him the best possible chance of returning to the wild. Contact with humans has been kept to a like a very, very minimum.
And as his uh recovery continues, his caretakers hope that he can one day be released back into the English countryside. Uh what was that? Is that a semi? Yes. Holy cow.
I thought I was driving through the wall. Uh Kathy Fraser, who works at the dog spa, she said the transformation has been incredible and has been impressed with the care that Chance has received. Uh she said it's amazing that this little act of kindness is going to go a long way to potentially uh allow chance to be released and living a full wild life like he should.
And I think that's pretty cool. I'm sad he got hit by a car. Me too. And I'm sad that his back legs quit working. But I'm super stoked that he's doing his uh physical therapy and he's getting back on the moon.
You get there. You got this, bud.
Yeah, I love that. He's got a little swimming lesson stuff going on. I think good job. They put little floaties on his arms. Sir Chance a lot. Fox size swim cap and put him in there. No, but it's cool. Anyway, that's good news. What do you want to know about it?
Well, you played me something this morning. Yeah. And said you're gonna hear this and think that you've heard it before. Yeah.
You're gonna hear it and you're gonna say, I think I've heard this, but I don't know where. And it took you a minute, and you didn't really like click. And then when I played for you the thing that I think has happened, you went, uh-huh. Yeah, that's pretty obvious.
Uh-huh. So Patient Zero is the new song from Taylor Swift that came out uh last night. Uh, and it is from Life of a Shogirl, The Encore. Uh, and so it's this new track and the uh beginning instrumental part. I'm not gonna play the whole song here, uh, but the beginning instrumental part sounds familiar. And to be fair, she released a teaser for the video because the video's got like Dakota Johnson, like all these people.
Like it's it's it's crazy. Uh who she has in the video for this thing. Uh and I haven't watched the video, I've only listened to the song. But here is just the opening few seconds of Patient Zero. It's pretty. That's it's that's nice.
It's pretty. And I'm hearing it now, I go, how did I not get it the first time? Right. Because it's so blatantly obvious.
It is is gotta be, and the word is not sampled. The word is not uh copied or the word is interpolated. Uh, and that is because there are similar notes. Uh, it is the same um it is the same as like the uh the thing that uh vanilla ice did with uh what's the song? Under pressure with Bowie, yeah. Yeah. Uh where it it's so similar, and you go, how is that not but because
it's similar to the city? I know uh behind the music. It was just a nitty-bitty ting.
Yeah, just a nitty-bitty ting. See, I have an extra. Yeah. Anyway, uh so I believe that's what's happened here, but it's it is so Hades town. This is the same thing. It is on the It's the same.
I mean, I'm coming. Is that the same like violin? It's the same. It's the same. Way. Yeah, exactly.
Anyway, so I've been dealing with that this morning.
Yeah, it's all over TikTok, right? Oh, yeah. Except for you personally.
All over the internet. Yeah, people are talking about the fact that that is uh and and really when she put out the teaser, that's when people went, come on. Really? Like, because the teaser was just instrumental. You had none of the songs, it was just that instrumental part. And people went, That is the same.
Like, what are you crazy? Uh so it is interesting. I think um Yeah, there's enough, as you said, there's enough musical theater kids who love theater, and they're they can't.
And that on sound is so huge right now, like uh people are so aware of it. Like if you're gonna pick something, pick something that wasn't like so topical. Yeah, like that is it's wild. Uh anyway. Uh the new song is called Patient Zero. Uh, listen to the whole thing. Oh, Colin Farrell's also in the uh music video. Blast from the past. Yeah, Dakota Johnson, Colin Farrell, and uh some other folks.
Carl, Colin Farrell hasn't been around for a long time. Um Well, shoot. What was I gonna say, Josh? I don't know. What were you gonna say? I don't even Yeah.
well, as of so far, it is unconfirmed whether Taylor officially stole sampled or interpolated Hades Town, or if the sonic similarity is just a coincidence.
Or if she actually went the proper route and said, Hey, can I sample this? Can I get the copyright? Can I do this?
Can I pay you some money to be able? Yeah, who knows? Who knows?
I can't imagine it's cheap to copyright from Broadway.
Well, no, but if you're Taylor, does it matter?
He doesn't care.
Does it matter how much stuff costs? Anyway. Fascinating. That's that's the drama. Could find today is Dolly Parton Day. It is nine to five. Yes. 925. They have unofficially or officially how's this work? Because she passed away uh not that long ago, and I saw when that happened that a bunch of people were saying, look, we gotta make 925 Dolly Parton Day, and here we are now saying it's Dolly Party. Sally Parton Day. Yeah.
Um, there's a bunch of cities around the world that's gonna be that are gonna be honoring her and celebrating her New Orleans is gonna have a celebration of life parade. Oh, cool. Of course, there's gonna be some celebrating in Nashville.
Has to be. There's gonna be pink lights and Dolly posters around the city. Garth Brooks' Friends in Little Places Bar is gonna donate proceeds to her proceeds to her imagination library, and San Francisco is gonna have a daytime celebration with live music.
So those are um there's probably more than just those few examples happening, but that's just some of the stuff going on today.
They're also they're also trying to make it a uh like a central focus of charitable giving. Oh, I'm gonna. So they're like a give like Dolly Day. Oh, that's awesome. So it's part of Dolly Day. It's like focus heavily on supporting her imagination library,
her and literacy and those kinds of things.
gifting program. They I like that free books to kids. And that is awesome. Yeah.
She was uh she's quite the lady.
Southwest Airlines, it looks like they're gonna host Parton inspired karaoke. What's worse Than being on a plane and having karaoke on a plane. There's no escape. That's bad.
It's not my favorite place to be. I didn't sign up for this. I just wanted to get from point A to point B. No, I won't participate.
There have been. There's places like Manhattan and Nashville that have issued official proclamations declaring September 25th is Dolly Dolly Parton Day. Okay, good. I think it's awesome. So celebrate Dolly Parton today in your own way. Or you could give like Dolly.
That's I like that angle. I really do. Give like Dolly on Dolly Day. Dolly Parton Day 925. And if you don't know why 925, 925 is Dolly Day.
What a word.
You gotta you gotta get in in the no about nine to five. Uh cool. All right.
Yeah. So celebrate the way that Dolly would. I like it. Go to Dollywood. Well, you could wear pink. Okay. People this is what people are saying. Wear pink, spread kindness, and enjoy nine to five at 5 p.m. Oh, there you go.
That's a good one too, when it all wraps up. Take Pick off your weekend. The Dolly way. There you go. Mm-hmm. Well, happy Dolly Parton Day.
My sister and daughter and I are getting together this weekend. This is something we do every year. Yes. Um, it's called Shop Hop. That's right. And we What was that? A shop hop? Pop. Pop. I call it Shoppity Hoppedy. That is correct. That's not the official name. That's just what I call it.
So now this this is something you've done for years. Uh do you know what year this is?
Oh, golly. I don't know. The reason the Emery is going is because when we first started, she was just little, and so she was required to go because she was just little.
Okay. And she didn't want to stay home with you. And so she's an OG member. And my sister's daughter is always like, well, how come I can't? How come I'm not invited? But Emory gets to go. And I go, because she's grandfathered in.
Because she's gone since she was tiny. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Got it.
So I don't know. I don't know the exact date. I just know that it's it's been a while. I could look it up. Anyway, we go. There's a bunch of different quilt shops from Burley to Wyoming to Logan. Yeah. To Rexburg.
There, I was just looking at the website here. Yeah. A piece of home is the theme this year.
Yeah, it's a different theme every year. Yeah. What was it last year? I don't know. I can't remember. A piece of home. I don't remember.
But this is uh this is like a quilting thing, and you go to different quilt shops and fabric stores and whatever. No, I know. And uh and you enter to win different prizes.
You get a passport And you check off your passport Every place you go Right You get free patterns and you get uh discounts on fabric and it's a lot of fun.
Last year was a year on the trail. Okay, which had the trees of different seasons. Oh, yeah. And then the year before was critters. Yep. I remember that. Okay.
We've done that. We've done this for a lot of years. A lot of years. Um Okay. So we take turns. My sister and I will take turns. Whoever gets the hotel, the other person drives. Got it. And so there's been years in the past where the hotel rooms that the person has picked haven't always been the been the greatest.
Now when you say the person has picked, that's specifically you, right?
Yeah, there was a year I picked a really bad hotel.
And it had outside doors.
That Emery was not fond of. Right. And she said, Mom, you know, if it has an outside door, it's not good. Is that right?
It was Is that the difference between a hotel and a motel? I don't know. A hotel has doors on the inside and a motel has doors on the outside.
It was the filthiest hotel we've ever stayed at. It was so dirty. I was Why did you book it? I don't you helped me. I don't know if I helped you. Uh I think you probably did. Because you won't you got your discount on
your Yeah, but I would have picked a better place.
Dude, It was not good. So that's been a memory for the books. Uh this year it's my turn to drive, which I always think is fun because I have a tiny car. So when we we go to these shops and we load up on fabric a lot of the time. You have nowhere to haul it. But then we also do other shopping. We like to hit thrift stores and antique stores. So when it's my turn to drive, I'm like, get it in where it fits in.
Yeah. No, you usually roll up with stuff tied to the roof.
Now you could.
I could put the cargo bag up there for you.
I like when my sister, she drove one year and there were baby mice.
Uh yeah, no, the story has been well shared. Uh-huh. That was that was gross.
So that's there was a picture of baby mice that we send to her occasionally. Yeah. I've put Christmas hats on them before. It's disgusting. A piece of home.
So this is the last weekend uh for this year. It happened last weekend.
It goes for about a week. Yeah. Uh fun. Yeah, it is fun. Now, when we go to the hotel, my sister is like hyper vigilant about safety. And so when we go to the hotel rooms, she's always like, we gotta put hangers on the doorknobs. I saw this on TikTok where you can hang her the and I go, uh it's fine. I think just locking it is fine.
Okay. If she's listening, doubtful, but if she is, I just read that here's here's some hotel safety checks that flight attendants swear by. You gotta scan the room, make sure it's empty. You gotta inspect the hiding spots and make sure nobody's that mean closets, bathroom, showers, behind curtains.
Like I've never played hide and seek in a hotel room, but there's not a lot of places to hide. No. Okay.
Find the emergency exits, check the locks, make sure they're working. Make sure your phone works. You gotta be able to call down to the office if if needed. Okay. Okay. And there you go. Don, if you're listening, I have a plan for our hotel safety. Not necessary, but she is a panicker. All right. Well. And I am calm down.
I'm a guy. You're not a panicker. Not when I'm around her. Oh, okay.
I'm pretty easy breezy when I'm around her. She with you, I'm a little bit like, ooh. With me. Yeah.
Why are you panicky when I'm that's not what I mean? I just mean like I'm more high strung when I'm I don't know. I don't know what I'm trying to say. Me neither.
I don't put you at ease. I don't make you feel safe.
I was trying to say, compared to my sister, I'm an easy breezy. She is high strung. I see. I am like chill to the max. Oh. Alright All right.
Polly Pauly Shore called and wants his lines back. I'm chill to the max. That is straight 90s. fire From the Goofy movie? Yeah, it does feel goofy movie.
It does feel lame tower of cheesa.
And if you haven't seen the goofy movie, go see the goofy movie. It's so good. It is very good. Last night we had a little bit of a uh leftover clean out of the fridge. That's how we handled dinner, which was fine.
That's how you and I handled dinner.
Yeah, the other two decided they were gonna go not have leftovers. That's fine. Whatever.
They have their own money. They know how to drive. That's right. Go take care of yourself.
So they did that, but you and I cleaned out some leftovers, and you then said, are we keeping any of this or are we putting any of this back in the fridge? And I think it was just ultimately determined that like no.
No, none of us are gonna eat this.
So you emptied the Tupperwares into a gro like a garbage bag.
Yeah, because I had just well, I put them in a grocery sack because I had just emptied out the garbage and I didn't want to throw them back into the garbage. This is the part where Josh starts to sneeze for 10 minutes. That's fine. I'll be okay.
So you had the smelliest bag of garbage in town.
In a in a grocery sack. Yeah. It was gross. It was gross. And you were waving it around. Are you getting sneezy thinking about it?
Yeah, I think so. I think thinking about the stink bag has got me all worked up. It was so gross.
It was gross. We did call it the stink bag because it was a bag of stink. Um Emory came home from work right as I was filling up the stink bag. And when she came to give me a hug, I still had the the bag in my hand, and she just immediately came over to give me a hug and then was like, Can you put the bag down? I go, You didn't even give me a chance to before you came over and started to hug me. This is not my fault. She made a gaggy noise. Yeah.
Trying the I'm trying to fight off the sneeze. Anyway, she made she made a terrible noise uh because the bag was so gross. It was very gross.
It's gone now. You know what's worse is I tied it in a knot and went to throw it in the garbage outside. Oh no. And that when I threw it in, it almost it didn't quite make it in, and it kinda hooked on the outside.
Gross. And so lucky that it didn't break open. I was so happy that because it could have very easily broken open. Leftovers all over the ground. That's gross. That would have been so gross. I'm glad it didn't. Me too.
Because the whole side of the house would have smelled like that gross bag. know. It Smelled terrible.
Do you see how much room we have in the fridge now? No, I didn't look. Oh, there's so much room in there. Yeah. We got plenty of space, right?
And all the Tupperware's in the dishwasher, so we'll have all the Tupperware back.
Wow. That's great. I mean, there's a lot of room in the fridge, except there's a lot of jars of pickles. You've pickled a lot of things. Yep. Eat some pickles. There's some pickles, there's some beets, there's some um okra. Okra. Yeah. We gotta eat some of that picture.
I have pickled chips, pickle spears. I have more pickles that I could pickle.
Yeah, dude. There's so many. You got too many.
I made spicy ones. You haven't even cracked open the spicy pickles yet.
No, I don't even know which ones those are.
I was gonna do eggs. I haven't done eggs yet because somebody needs to eat the beets so that I can use that for the eggs. So if you could get on that, that'd be good.
I'm just one person. That's a lot of beets. It's only a jar. Hey, you gave some beats to a friend of ours. He's gonna make a special.
They weren't very good beats. I was down to little small ones. Uh-huh. So I don't know if he was able to make those into anything or not. I haven't followed up. Yeah, I wanted to try those. Because he was gonna do something like a jalapeno in there. Yeah, they they looked really good, but I don't I don't know.
Well, you gotta get on eating some beets. I can't be the sole beat eater. I don't like the dirt. I d I don't.
They are dirt flavored.
The dirt flavor has all but gone away with the pickle flavor. Yeah. I don't believe you.
I smelled them when I boiled them. I know what they taste like.
The longer they sit, the less dirt they taste like. Oh, good. You'll love that.
Get to eating those beets so I can do some eggs.
That doesn't sound good at all. I don't want to eat pickled eggs. You don't? I've never had them, but I think you're gonna love it. I don't think I will. I don't it sounds gross. You're gonna love it. Ooh, your breath after that.
Oh, yeah. You're gonna love it.
And your digestion. You're gonna love it. You're gonna love it.
No way. I'm not gonna love it. You're gonna keep it to yourself. Talk about a stink bag. Oh, well done.
When we first moved into our house um 15 years ago. 2012.
Yeah, almost 15. Yeah.
We bought a matching washer and dryer. That's right. And then the I think they've both gone out.
We have replaced the dryer, and then we had the same washer, and then
uh like last year or so, I had the big dry the big washer incident. Yeah. I tried to fix it. Didn't work.
The BWI, the big washer incident. Yeah.
I was not excited about it. I dreaded it. I tried my best. I bought all kinds of tools and parts to do it, and uh it still failed, and uh so then we got a new one.
Okay, so our dryer went out first, and I never even thought like, oh, we have to match the washer. Like initially they were matching, but then when we replaced the dryer, it was just like what's gonna be the most affordable and provide the needs that we need.
Sure. It's a different brand than the washer we had. It didn't matter, right?
It was the same color. Washer goes out, and I same thing. I was like, I don't necessarily care to match.
There's hot discussion on the internet about how your washer and dryer have to match. I don't think so. I don't necessarily care about that. One, my washer and dryer are tucked enough away that it doesn't
Yeah, but why do they have to match?
That's what people on the internet are saying they have to.
They don't. Your fridge and your stove don't have to match. Color wise. Okay. Yeah.
That's the question I want to ask. Does it have to match color wise and brand?
I don't think your washer and dryer have to match at all. I don't think they if you get a deal on a on a washer you like and it's periwinkle and you have a black dryer, which I don't think I've ever seen. Uh, but fine. You have a white dryer and you have a periwinkle blue fancy washer with a little drawer pedestal thing, cool for you.
I don't see the big deal. It would be weird to have mismatch kitchen appliances. The dishwasher, the stove, and the fridge should match colors and the microwave should all match.
But not necessarily brand.
Not necessarily, because everybody kind of does the same finish. But if you end up getting some sort of fancy one off color or stainless or some sort of fancy thing that only Kenmore does this, or only KitchenAid does this, then you're gonna have to make it all match. So you might end up locking yourself into a specific brand because of those kinds of decisions. But stove oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, those should all match.
I think the same thing. They should match the same color. Color. I don't care about it. But I don't care about the washer and dryer matching.
If you want to do a hot point stove and a Samsung fridge and a kitchen aid dishwasher, because that's what's going on in our house. You really you know those? Yeah, I do. I was trying to think.
How do you know the brands of our stuff?
Because I say again. Hot point stove. Yeah. Samsung fridge. Yes. And kitchen aid dishwasher. I don't know about the microwave.
Hmm. I'm trying to think of what the logos are. I couldn't even tell you. I don't even know. I don't even care. I don't care.
And the garage fridge is a hot point because we bought it at the same time we bought the stove. They were they were friends. They were matching. They were friends. So then I saw this question the other day.
Are your washer and dryer married or are they siblings? Co-workers.
What do you mean? They're not they're neither. They're co-workers. But they live together. No, they work on an assembly line together. They're Laverne and Shirley. They're pals.
So then are the matter of fact, we should call them Laverne and Shirley.
Are the fridge and stove married or siblings?
They're unfortunately stuck too close together because food gets between them.
But are they coworkers? No, because they don't share the same job responsibility. No. Yeah, that well, I mean, you
not everybody who works together shares the same job or something like that.
So you're supposed you're saying they're co-workers as well. Yeah. Okay. All right.
Are the toilet and the bathtub related? No. Like, what do you mean? These are weird questions.
I saw it online. I thought it was hilarious. I mean, oh. Yeah. I think they're siblings.
Are the towels you put on the towel hooks related?
No, you're just getting ridiculous. Oh, is that right?
Are the washcloths and the towels from the same household? Are they do they know each other? Do they go on vacations? What yeah?
Sometimes they do. Sometimes you take your towel on a vacation.
Have you ever taken a washcloth on a vacation? Yeah. No, you have not.
In the trailer camping?
No, those are trailer washcloths. They're different. They're their own thing.
Well, now they are, but they didn't initially.
Because you take the worst ones out of the house and put them in the trailer. Yeah. Yeah. They went on. That's an upgrade. For that hand towel. That's an upgrade. Like I get to go to the outside. Promotion. Yeah, I don't get to be used every day. Amazing.
Okay. Well, I'm glad we're in a green set the washer and dryer don't have to match because they don't. They match the same color. Let's be clear. But not the same brand. You do you know what the washer and dryer brand are?
I know the washers of Samsung because it hooks up to my phone and the TVs so we know when the washer cycle's done. So ridiculous. But the dryer is something else. I want to say maybe a May tag. I can't remember. I don't I don't remember. I couldn't tell you. Yeah. Oh. That's it. It was it was whatever we could afford that day
when we needed a dryer real bad. So and it works great, and I'm happy about it. Me too. Laudi Da. Okay, I read online that you know American girl dolls. Oh, sure. And you know that they come from a specific location. And like the locations that they're from, they always get accessories based on the location that they're from.
I guess I didn't know that. Okay.
They'll come with a story. So it originated with the Yeah. Okay. so apparently there's a new one. It's a girl of the year, and she's from Wisconsin. All right. Daisy Davenport. Okay. And she's from Madison, Wisconsin.
So that's where uh American Girl Doll was founded originally, is in Wisconsin. I did not know that. Yeah. I did not know that. Yeah.
Okay, so people are upset because her accessories are a dog and a s'mores. And people are upset by that because they don't think that that's a good one. Should she have a cheese? Wisconsin-esque. I don't know. No matter what you do, there's gonna be somebody upset with the accessories, right?
Like if they did cheese, I feel like cheese in Wisconsin is the potato of Idaho. Where people go, Okay, yeah.
Not everything has to be cheese. Right. Not everything has to be potato.
Right. I feel that way. I feel like we should be proud of our potato heritage, but boy, do we love a potato.
But there is much more to our state than just potatoes.
Right. We are the gem state, for example. Yeah. Like I don't hear a lot of people out there going like, hey, you know about rocks and minerals. We got that.
Like I know there are like gem societies and clubs and you know, like there's rock hounds and there's opal mines a couple hours drive away. Right. I get it. Like I know there's stuff around.
But also, if they gave this American girl doll a cheese head. Yeah. Right. I just don't think this year is the year that you should be a cheese head.
Look, there are two games in three games in.
Last night against the Falcons was rough. Well. Okay. Anyway. Okay. So if there was an American girl doll from Idaho, what kind of accessories do you think?
Well, look, I think you if you're gonna do a potato anything, you've gotta do like the potato sack. Okay. Right.
You could even turn it into like a potato sack backpack.
Like a or a or a uh over-the-shoulder bag, you know. Like I think that's probably a cool thing. Yeah. I think that's that's all right.
Um I think like camping gear would be fitting for Idaho or like a hiking thing.
Yeah, some outdoor gear. I like that. Uh that makes a lot of sense or skiing, fishing pole.
Sure. We do have some of the best fishing waters. Absolutely.
And you but you gotta think about the whole state, and I think that's that gets a little bit more complicated too, because as you go up toward the the panhandle, you you get a little less uh potato field, and you get a little bit more uh like there's a paper factory up there. Oh, I did not know that. Yeah, in Lewiston, they've got a paper uh plant.
I've never been to the panhandle of Idaho.
Well, you have because we went up there and did Hiawatha and stuff. You've been up there.
Brief. It was pretty brief.
Yeah, but you've been to Court Lane and you've been to you know a couple of those places, uh, and up into like Athel when we went to Silverwood. Um you've been very north. Uh and you've spent some time in the central area. You've been to Stanley and Ketchum and Sun Valley and that whole area. You've been to Boise.
Ketchup. You've been to McCall. Yeah. So you've you've seen a good portion of the state. How much time have you spent in the southwest corner, down in like Silver City? Zero. Yeah. I gotta go check out that area. I've never been down there. I gotta know what's going on in the south corner.
In the southwest, yeah.
I've never been there. And then down south into that area. Oh, yeah. I gotta go check some of that out. But you've been to City of Rocks, which is very southern. Oh, I so you've been all over the state. Yeah. I'm just saying, what represents the whole state? A sagebrush?
We got lots of that. I mean, I don't know. What do you accessorize her with?
I don't know. That's what I like the outdoor gear thing. I think that's a good angle. Okay. But not everybody is like out there. And outdoorsy. Yeah. I don't know.
No matter what you pick, it would it would make somebody upset. Like they gave this Wisconsin doll a s'mores and the dog. And people are like, how dare you? What did you want her to come with? Exactly. Yeah. I don't know. Interesting. That's tough. Somebody said Oshka, she needed to have Oshkash Bagash overalls.
Is that a Wisconsin thing, I guess? It must be. Yeah. Huh. Interesting.
Yeah. And there was a lot of cheese heads. Cheese heads. I would not recommend. I gotta see uh Idaho accessories.
So I just I just said stereotypical Idaho accessories is what I'm looking up. Uh huh. Idaho shaped gear, spud and potato items, uh star garnet jewelry. Uh okay, yeah. Some jewelry. Custom Western hat, belt buckles. Uh yeah.
That's true. We have a lot of rodeos. You could do that. That is true. You could do some cowboys.
There is definitely some western gear you could throw on there. I mean, you don't want to be too Texas though, because I feel like Texas has that like cowboy ring to it.
You know, they kind of like own that market a little bit. Okay. So if you did you might confuse people. They'd be like, why is the Idaho one wearing cowboy boots? That's a Texas thing.
Who knows? You're just gonna make anyone upset. Everyone's gonna be upset with no matter what you choose. Uh but I like her a potato. I like the potato sack bag.
Yeah, I like that idea. That's that's it's like the Marilyn Monroe dress, but it's just the uh bag. Yeah. That's a fun idea. Appropriate for a dog. And a hiking stick. A trekking pole and a Idaho spud bag. That's what you're going with. huh? All right.
What is something that you brag about?
Uh I think uh you and I have had a a couple of conversations about how uh we're we're pretty proud of our relationship, and I think that's probably something I that's brag worthy.
Yeah. Um I don't tend to brag a lot. Uh so I it's hard to say. Uh and and I'm not trying to say like, look at me, I don't I don't brag. I'm I'm not a bragging person. I I just don't feel like that's something I do. I don't wander around going like nah, yeah.
And maybe you don't think you're bragging, you'd have to have somebody else. That is a very good point. Yeah. Like somebody else might think, oh, he does an awful lot of bragging.
I do find myself talking about like the my career in this industry and how many years I've been doing that. I feel a little braggy about about that. Okay. That's again, I think that's the pride thing. Like that's I'm proud of the work I do. Okay. And it's something that I wanted to do from a young age, and I still get to do today, and I'm grateful for that.
Your garden.
Not that it was braggy. I do like to show it off.
I think sometimes brag gets a negative connotation when you're just proud of something and you want to show it off.
Yeah, I like, I mean, I've got feedback from people who are like, dude, your garden looks amazing. And I go, Oh, thanks. Like you saw some pictures or videos or whatever, and um, and I think that's cool. So I I'm proud of the garden, sure. Yeah. I think you should.
got so many more ideas And things I want and need to do And I've got to get more mulch And I've got so many things in the backyard I want to accomplish And You know, blah, blah, blah.
I always I brag about you, your food. Oh, sure.
I'm always saying, you're like, best burgers, best burger you ever had. So I and I go, like, that's a lot of pressure. I brag more about you than I do my own stuff. What do you think I brag about?
I don't think. Just the other day we had we know somebody who just bought a house. Our nephew just bought a house. Uh-huh. And congratulations, Mikey. Right. Um, but we had been talking about home interest rates. Yes.
And I was like, We're pretty stoked about our low interest rates, pretty great.
And because we bought our house uh nearly 15 years ago or whatever. Uh we locked in at a good rate, and we have a pretty low house payment. Yes. And uh a lot of people are like, why didn't you refinance in 2020 when the market was crazy and thing? I went, no way, dude. I'm and make my payment twice as much. Forget about it. I'm good. I don't need to change what isn't broken.
Yeah, our our low mortgage and our low interest rate. That's a definitely brag worthy.
Um pretty proud about that, but that was 15 years ago. So I know. You know, that's a thing. Um, what else? I always brag about keeping my house plants alive.
No, you don't. No. All I ever hear is please don't die. Please don't die. Yeah, and they're still alive. Well, one is not. It's because I repotted him, and that was the worst idea. I should have just left him alone. Because now he's suffering. Well, okay. Well.
Those are braggable moments, I suppose. But also like what you and I have. That's probably the I I think I agree with you on that. That's probably the biggest humble brag. I go, yeah. That's it. That's us. Good good job. Good job. High five. Good job.
Okay, there was this guy who I don't know where they are. Let me let let me see. I don't know where they are. But there was was a guy, he lost his arm. He had his right arm amputated at the elbow after living with a traumatic plexus injury. And his cousin spent 48 hours crocheting him a full size wearable arm.
I think I saw this with the bone in it. Yeah. Yes. It's so fun. So he has this uh he's missing uh it's his right arm. Yeah. And so she it's got a hand and it's got the whole arm, and then it has like the sleeve part that would attach to uh what remains of his arm, but then when you take it off, there's like a bone sticking out of it. I think it's hilarious.
Yeah, there's individual fingers and removable pieces at the shoulder. It's never meant to function as a real prosthetic.
It's just a it just lays there.
But the guy who it was actually his, it's a male cousin who crocheted it. Cool. Kevin crocheted it. Kevin calls it a wearable fiber art, and it is. Okay. And Joe, the guy who lost his arm, said putting it on after surgery gave him something mean if meaningful and a little bit of his confidence.
That's funny. Does it have um uh wires in it? Like, is it posable? Uh unsure. Okay.
Um the original will never be sold, but Kevin has said that he has started taking custom commissions through his shop. That's fun. Thunder stitch is his shop. Thunder stitch. And you can make an order piece starting at you know, $750. Whoa. No way. It takes a long time to crochet. But it is so have you seen pictures of him wearing it.
I have not seen pictures of him wearing it. Dude, his crochet stuff is amazing. Oh, that's fun.
So that's him wearing it, and then he's like sitting on the couch with it.
Yeah, that's the picture I saw.
It kind of looks like it might be a little bit poseable. So I wonder if I didn't get some wiring.
It's got some structure in it. Yeah. Uh you should look at Thunderstitch.com. Okay. By Kevin. Uh it's cool. He's got the arm laying there, but his crochet stuff is really good. Like his he's got little uh he says stuffed soles and stringy things. Um, but they're really, really good. I am like really blown away.
That is really cool. Stuffed souls and stringy things. Yeah. That's so cool. Yeah, he's got some cool stuff on there. Uh good for you, Kevin. I like that he's just he made his cousin an arm.
Yeah, it's very, very funny. Yeah, right there, starting at 750, custom crochet cosmetic arm made to order. That's wild. He does charge quite a bit for his stuff.
Well, listen, it takes a long time. It does. When you make stuff like this, it's it's not a walk in the park. Okay. It took him 48 hours.
Good looking website, too. I'm impressed.
You always like a good website. Yeah. You used to make websites, so you appreciate a nice website. Yeah, he did a good job. How funny. I just thought that was a good story, and I wanted to share.
Yeah, I like the uh arm. I didn't know all the rest of the uh the whole story. I saw the crochet arm thing, and I thought that's funny. Uh, but that's cool. Thanks for sharing the whole story.
No, nothing, nothing more to say. Okay. All right.
So uh my algorithm sometimes feeds me exactly what I didn't know I needed. Uh so I just found out about uh there's a a fly tire in in the state of Idaho in East Idaho. Uh pretty sure his name is Tommy, and I just got uh his video showed up in my feed. And what he did is he went to the fly shop and he had his wife pick out fly tying materials, and then he said, All right, let me see what we can tie. And so he she picked out like a dubbing, some rubber legs, and uh like a tinsel thread, and he ended up tying some really cool looking uh bugs with it.
And then he said, just stick around, we'll go fish them and see if we catch anything with you know what she came up with. Good looking flies. He can he can tie some flies, this guy.
Uh he's got he's be skilled. Uh and I and I'm pretty envious of it. But it's a great idea. And then I thought, you know what would be fun is if uh I put you to the test. Yeah. Plus, it means I get to go get fly tying materials.
No, you can't you can't be around.
No, I'm there. He's there with her, and she's picking the stuff and handing it to him, and he's like, okay, cool.
But he doesn't have a say in what she picks. Correct.
So he then tied like uh a couple of different flies. So he tied some some kind of terrestrial looking bugs and then a couple of like smaller little midges, uh, which is kind of cool.
So he had like a stone fly kind of uh one that he tied and then a couple of smaller ones, and he used the rubber leg as like a hot spot tail coming out of the body. I mean, it's a cool uh concept. I really like the idea. I like this idea. And I think it would be kind of fun.
Uh put that on the list. Write it down. Write it down. I want to write it down.
Yeah, and we can go to the fly shop, which oh no, and then you can pick out fly tying materials. Oh no. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then uh I can tie some stuff. Oh no. So that's cool. Uh anyway.
I wouldn't even know. Here's the thing. I know whereabouts in the fly shop. You buy stuff. no, you can pick whatever.
I mean, I can help you, like if you buy something and you don't know what it's for, I'm having to tell you.
I don't know what dubbing is. I've heard you talk about dubbing. I don't necessarily know what it is.
Well, there's a whole bunch of it, and there's all kinds of different kinds. Okay. Fly.
Okay, what am I writing down? I don't know what you're writing down.
You pick the materials and I'll tie something. I think it's a cool thing. I do too. This is good social media content.
I think so. Tommy, thank you for the inspiration. Um, and as I said, he's a local boy. So uh he's hand tying flies in Idaho. Uh, I believe in the Rexburg area. So and he's very, very skilled. His wife is Emma, and uh, and it's a great little video, and I want to uh I want to see how you do because I think it's kind of fun. I I agree. Yeah.
And I'd I'd like to see what you come up with after what I've picked for you. Sure. I might just like sabotage it. What how? Just like pick the most random of things. Well, that's the whole point. Well, I know. She didn't even like I'm sure she probably was like, uh
you He asked her, like, how much do you know? Okay, you know, and and uh I know you need a hook. Well, you don't have to worry about that. It's just the materials. I'll take care of like hooks and beads and whatever. Because if I'm gonna tie certain kinds of flies, like I already have a bunch of that stuff, so you don't need to worry. I mean, I can always use more hooks and beads, but I don't think I necessarily need those materials. It's more about like what do you want me to tie with? Because Okay. I already have the medium, I just need what you want me to attach to it. Okay.
I love it. Let's do this. We're gonna do this.
Because it could be big bugs, it could be little stuff, it could be, you know, they make all kinds of fun material. Dry fly, a wet fly. Yeah. See, I know stuff.
I know stuff. Ask me a question. What do you want me to ask you? I don't know. Ask me a fly fishing question. I'll answer it. I know about stuff. Okay. I don't know what to ask you. What's a leader? What is a leader? A leader is part of your fishing line. Okay. All right.
I mean, you're not wrong. It is a part of the fishing line. If that's what you want to call it.
I just don't necessarily know what part of the fishing line. Okay.
So if you were going to assemble a fly line, what are you Googling? So Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is what I actually thought it was. It's the clear piece of line that connects your thick fly line to your fly. Yes, I actually knew that. Right. That's what I thought it was. Yeah.
What's the other end of the fly line? So if you have the leader and then you have the fly line, what's at the other end of the fly line that attaches to the reel? It's like usually a bright color. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh what does it start with? A B.
Oh, that's not what I thought it was. I don't know. That's backing. Oh, okay. Yeah.
So you have your backing line, then your fly line, then your leader. Okay. And then you tie on that. And if you need to lengthen your leader, what do you tie to your leader to lengthen it? Uh I know this too.
What does it start with? A T. T.
I have a whole bunch of them on a little spool thing. I don't know. It's tip it. Dip it. I knew it. I knew it. Would you rather this or that?
Would you rather be amazing at fixing things or be amazing? Oh, I am. I'm just bragging.
I'm just bragging. Just bragging.
Or be amazing at cooking without a recipe.
I am bragging.
You actually are. No. You're really good at at coming up with recipes.
I can I I've I've been able to look at we have food in the house. Yeah. Despite what the teenager said. We have food in the house. I can look in the cupboard and go, well, I have this and this and this. What can I make? And we usually have enough staple stuff laying around that I can put together some kind of meat. Yeah.
You're really. We have frozen meat. We've got, you know, all kinds of different pasta noodles. There's different sauces I can make. I can make a sauce from scratch. I'm good with that.
You are good with that. So I don't like I can make a thing, but it usually ends up being like a pasta. Or a rice. A pasta. Or a rice meal, yeah, because we usually have rice around.
Yeah, but it's usually delicious.
Well, I appreciate that. But I don't know. What do you what do you think? What are you picking? Would you rather be able to fix things?
I don't want to be good at fixing things because then people will find out and then they'll always ask you to fix things. It does happen.
So it does happen when you're amazing.
That is not what I said. I'm just bragging. Just bragging.
I think I'm gonna be, I would rather be amazing at cooking without a recipe because you hate cooking. I do, but I don't want to fix things. But you hate cooking. I know, but I also hate following a recipe.
Do you know what would be awesome? I think is if you could fix things that break often. Such as something's wrong with my sewing machine.
That would be nice. Except what I'm saying. Except again. Then everyone's gonna find out.
And then you can fix a sewing machine.
Yeah, and then you're gonna fix everyone's stuff, and I don't want to.
Or like, what how do I reset the network? Ugh. See?
I don't want to know stuff because then people ask you to fix it. Yeah. I'm picking the recipe. Because I don't I'm terrible at following a recipe. I forget stuff.
So cooking without a recipe. I I see people who do this and they're like, you just eyeball it, and I go, Oh, that looks dope. It looks cool when people are like, uh, I don't no measurements, just eyeball it. I like that. Okay. It looks cool.
Yeah, I'm on the cooking side of this one because I don't like fixing stuff.
Nobody likes fixing stuff. Yeah, I like not knowing.
Yeah, and then I go a broken car. I'm like, uh, take it to somebody who knows cars. I don't want to deal with it. Yeah, exactly. And and I think the older I get, the less my DIY kicks in. Uh I would agree with that. Like, I used to be all gung-ho about figuring stuff out. Yep. Now I'm like, can we just take it somewhere? Yes. I don't want to deal with it.
I agree with that. You have definitely been that person in the last couple years. Where I would say, This is broken. You'd be like, oh, I can I can I can roll up my sleeves and get down to business. And now you're like, this is cost. I don't want to. I know. I know you're I've seen that change.
I like the I like the cooking part. Me too. But yeah, the the fixing stuff on my own, the DIY. I'm like, I don't want to. So yeah. Okay. Would you rather this or that?
There is a Mississippi wildlife rescue. Okay. And they're helping orphaned baby raccoons. Oh, do you love this? Yes. They help them prepare for life in the wild through a hands-on training program nicknamed raccoon boot camp. Okay, cool.
They're teaching them how to be raccoons.
Yeah, they teach them how to dig for worms, fighting seeds in pine cones and acorns, fish in shallow pools. Yes. And even swim in a pond. I'm seeing this. They're there for about six months, and then when they fully complete their training, they graduate in a ceremony and then they're released into the wild. Yeah. I want to be a part of raccoon boot camp.
Because you like the baby raccoons. Yes. Because you are a raccoon, as we've discussed. Uh they they teach them swimming. Did you say that? Yes. So that they're using ponds and kayaks to help uh the baby raccoons, by the way, are called kits.
Uh similar to kitten. Uh they help the kids get comfortable in the water, uh, which is vital in a flood and hurricane prone region in Mississippi. Uh they teach them foraging. You mentioned digging worms, uh, which is fun. Did you know there's food inside pine cones? Yeah, I said that. No, I know, but you saw the squirrel here just the other day eating a pine cone. Uh you thought you had a mouse.
It looked like a mouse at first, and I was concerned, but then I went, Oh no, it's a pine cone.
Imagine you look out there, a squirrel's eating a mouse. Uh crazy. Um how fun. This is very cool. Pred predator avoidance and climbing and terrain things. Very, very fun. The video's super cute.
I know. They're teaching them how to swim. I just love it. They're pretty cute. I want to be a part of raccoon boot camp. Yeah.
Mostly so you can carry around the raccoon. I'm gonna tell you, I think our dog's a raccoon.
Our dog is a mix between a raccoon and a fox. Uh that is our dog, Luna. She is a fox and a raccoon mixed into one. A hundred percent. She's she's curious, like the like uh uh like a fox, but also like a trash panda. Like she is she is absolutely these two animals combined. Yeah.
Our dog, I I made a video yesterday because our dog likes to push around rocks.
Yeah, like a raccoon.
I just think she's lonely. I think she loves it.
She pushes that rock around like crazy. She brought that rock home from a camping trip. She found it, and we were like, she loves this rock, and it's in the backyard. And she looks for it and she pushes it around. She pushes it into a post hole that I haven't filled with dirt yet on purpose so she can dig it back out. She's a maniac.
She just needs a friend, but I'm not getting another dog.
So I understand. But like you see how the raccoons use their hands for a lot of stuff. Yeah. So does our dog. Our dog really does. It's weird how much she uses her hands. Like a raccoon. But then she looks like a fox. Yeah. That's our Jack Russell.
That's uh that's some double good news today.
That is a good news story. And you know what else? That's the end of our show. So we can go kick off the weekend. Of course, I've got more work to do. I don't. You don't. I do not. I do have some work for you before you go.
No, I do. What is it? I've got some voice stuff I need you to do. Uh I know. I know. Pretty exciting. Anyway, have a great rest of your Friday. Have a good weekend. We'll be back on Monday. Uh, and uh that's that. We'll see you later. Goodbye. Okay, bye.
