[00:01:38 - 00:01:40] This was not as bad as I remember.
[00:01:40 - 00:01:41] I am in the same boat.
[00:01:41 - 00:01:45] There are a couple of things that I severely dislike about this movie.
[00:01:45 - 00:01:46] We'll talk about that.
[00:01:46 - 00:01:52] And there are a couple of ways that this movie highlights a lot of problems with the trilogy.

[00:01:53 - 00:01:57] But this movie, as it's in context, within itself.
[00:01:57 - 00:01:59] And within the MCU.
[00:01:59 - 00:02:01] We'll talk about it.
[00:02:01 - 00:02:04] Is better than I remember.
[00:02:04 - 00:02:05] That's what I'm going to say right now.

[00:02:06 - 00:02:09] We'll talk about the MCU and Spider-Verse and everything that's going on with this
[00:02:09 - 00:02:10] movie.
[00:02:10 - 00:02:14] But I think that this movie is a significant step up from far from home.

[00:02:15 - 00:02:16] I think that it looks a lot better.

[00:02:17 - 00:02:19] There's some stuff that looks pretty bad.
[00:02:19 - 00:02:21] But for the most part, this is a good-looking movie.
[00:02:21 - 00:02:27] I think that this is Tom Holland's character, like Peter Parker version, taking on the most
[00:02:27 - 00:02:28] maturity.
[00:02:28 - 00:02:29] Agreed.
[00:02:29 - 00:02:32] And dealing with the most actually important stuff.
[00:02:32 - 00:02:33] I agree.
[00:02:33 - 00:02:37] I'll say that much for right now.

[00:03:02 - 00:03:07] I think that there's a journey that Tom Holland's Peter Parker goes on.

[00:03:10 - 00:03:12] And there are consequences for actions, which is something you've talked about a lot.
[00:03:12 - 00:03:13] I agree.
[00:03:13 - 00:03:14] There are, which I love.

[00:03:15 - 00:03:19] There's this problem, I think, with this movie.
[00:03:19 - 00:03:20] Okay.
[00:03:20 - 00:03:26] When you have a movie that is in the MCU, A, you are in a bigger universe than your
[00:03:26 - 00:03:27] movie.
[00:03:27 - 00:03:28] So you have to have continuity.

[00:03:29 - 00:03:34] And B, if you bring in other characters from the MCU, they have to have continuity with
[00:03:34 - 00:03:35] their past movies.

[00:03:36 - 00:03:38] Slash of Ender's movies.
[00:03:38 - 00:03:39] Yep.
[00:03:39 - 00:03:42] The Doctor Strange character assassination.
[00:03:42 - 00:03:43] It's like not great.
[00:03:43 - 00:03:46] It's horrible.

[00:04:13 - 00:04:16] Well, I know, but if you are Doctor Strange, you used to be Sorcerer Supreme.
[00:04:16 - 00:04:20] You are like, super top magic, dude.
[00:04:20 - 00:04:24] You know how to work all this stuff and you know the potential risks.
[00:04:24 - 00:04:28] And you know that if this plucky kid, who you've worked with before and has been
[00:04:28 - 00:04:33] not like annoying, but like he likes to talk, like, you know that about Peter, surely
[00:04:33 - 00:04:39] you say, Hey, you really can't talk because if you do, you break the multiverse or
[00:04:39 - 00:04:41] you take Peter out of the room.
[00:04:41 - 00:04:44] You do the spell or you don't do the spell at all.
[00:04:44 - 00:04:47] I think the spell is the biggest point of contention for me in this.
[00:04:47 - 00:04:48] Yes, I agree.
[00:04:48 - 00:04:51] I think how it gets resolved at the end of the movie is also not that good.
[00:04:51 - 00:04:54] But oh, that's interesting.
[00:04:54 - 00:04:55] Well, we'll talk about it.

[00:04:56 - 00:04:59] I would say there's like a gaping plot hole there that's like, this is kind of dumb.

[00:05:01 - 00:05:07] Um, yeah, I think that like the way we get to all these other villains and later
[00:05:07 - 00:05:10] Spider-Man are coming into this universe is kind of dumb.

[00:05:11 - 00:05:12] The villains are here.
[00:05:12 - 00:05:13] It's not that bad.
[00:05:13 - 00:05:14] I agree.
[00:05:14 - 00:05:17] So it's good to see everybody back on screen, even if it is a little nostalgia bait.
[00:05:17 - 00:05:18] I know.
[00:05:18 - 00:05:22] I will say I didn't want to, I didn't want to feel something because I wanted to be
[00:05:22 - 00:05:25] cynical and hardened and not let nostalgia work on me.
[00:05:25 - 00:05:30] But having done, watch all these movies within like two weeks of each other, I was like,
[00:05:30 - 00:05:31] this is kind of fun.
[00:05:31 - 00:05:32] It's fun.
[00:05:32 - 00:05:33] Yeah.
[00:05:33 - 00:05:35] Like, is all the dialogue great?
[00:05:35 - 00:05:36] No.
[00:05:36 - 00:05:37] Are all the character moments great?
[00:05:37 - 00:05:40] No, but it's really good.
[00:05:40 - 00:05:45] But I think like, I don't know, I think that this is a situation, well actually I want to
[00:05:45 - 00:05:46] back up first.
[00:05:46 - 00:05:50] I think that Peter's identity being revealed and that first kind of like 20, 30 minutes
[00:05:50 - 00:05:52] of the movie is very good.
[00:05:52 - 00:05:55] I wanted to disagree with you, but I actually think I agree.
[00:05:55 - 00:06:01] Like I think he, I mean, some of it's funny, but he's dealing with a lot of like, man,
[00:06:01 - 00:06:02] this really sucks.
[00:06:02 - 00:06:05] Like it's kind of ruined my life.
[00:06:05 - 00:06:12] And like, it at least makes the spell mildly understandable even though I still think it's
[00:06:12 - 00:06:13] dumb.
[00:06:13 - 00:06:15] Like it makes sense that he would want to fix this for even his friends.
[00:06:15 - 00:06:16] Sure.
[00:06:16 - 00:06:18] I also just think it's like well edited.
[00:06:18 - 00:06:19] There's some great wonders in here randomly.
[00:06:19 - 00:06:20] True.
[00:06:20 - 00:06:21] They're pretty good.
[00:06:21 - 00:06:23] Um, but I don't know.
[00:06:23 - 00:06:25] I like that part of the movie.
[00:06:25 - 00:06:27] And then we get into all the other villains coming in.
[00:06:27 - 00:06:28] So.
[00:06:28 - 00:06:29] Yeah, I agree.
[00:06:29 - 00:06:34] I, and again, we haven't seen Brand New Day of Time recording, but hypothetically
[00:06:34 - 00:06:41] this movie feels like a great transition piece from kind of the, the bright Watts universe
[00:06:41 - 00:06:48] that we've created over the past two movies to this more dark mature Peter stuff goes down
[00:06:48 - 00:06:49] stuff goes down.
[00:06:49 - 00:06:54] Um, I think it's like, yeah, obviously Peter is outmatched here, which he ends up having
[00:06:54 - 00:06:56] two more Peters to help him.
[00:06:56 - 00:07:02] But like, yeah, he's outmatched and like he makes a decision in this movie, which
[00:07:02 - 00:07:05] ultimately causes a lot of trouble.
[00:07:05 - 00:07:06] True.
[00:07:06 - 00:07:10] And he doesn't send these villains back to die in their own universe.
[00:07:10 - 00:07:11] Yep.
[00:07:11 - 00:07:12] Which I like.
[00:07:12 - 00:07:13] I like that he did that.
[00:07:13 - 00:07:14] I like that he does it.
[00:07:14 - 00:07:16] And I also like their severe consequences for that action.
[00:07:16 - 00:07:17] There are.
[00:07:17 - 00:07:18] There are severe consequences.
[00:07:18 - 00:07:19] So let's dive into that.
[00:07:19 - 00:07:20] Let's do it.
[00:07:20 - 00:07:21] Let's get into it.
[00:07:21 - 00:07:22] And it may dies.
[00:07:22 - 00:07:23] Biggest consequence.
[00:07:23 - 00:07:25] Out the hands of Willem DeFell.
[00:07:25 - 00:07:29] This is, yeah, which is kind of crazy if you think about it, but then it also
[00:07:29 - 00:07:31] makes sense within the context of the movie.
[00:07:31 - 00:07:32] Right.
[00:07:32 - 00:07:35] I like the line with great power comes great responsibility.
[00:07:35 - 00:07:36] Here is my biggest problem with this scene.
[00:07:36 - 00:07:37] Okay.
[00:07:37 - 00:07:38] And by the way, Tom Holland.
[00:07:38 - 00:07:41] Oh, he washes very good in this movie.
[00:07:41 - 00:07:42] It.
[00:07:42 - 00:07:43] Yes.
[00:07:43 - 00:07:44] In these heavy dramatic scenes.
[00:07:44 - 00:07:46] Oh my gosh, he's so good.
[00:07:46 - 00:07:47] I also watched this with my wife.
[00:07:47 - 00:07:48] Did she die?
[00:07:48 - 00:07:52] When Aunt May died, I just heard a little sniffle and I looked over.
[00:07:52 - 00:07:53] There were tears.
[00:07:53 - 00:07:54] It's okay.
[00:07:54 - 00:07:55] So.
[00:07:55 - 00:07:56] Yeah.
[00:07:56 - 00:07:59] My biggest problem, and this is what I'm talking about where it
[00:07:59 - 00:08:03] highlights the problem with the other trill or the rest of the trilogy is Aunt May has
[00:08:03 - 00:08:06] been this like plucky hot aunt.
[00:08:06 - 00:08:07] Yeah.
[00:08:07 - 00:08:08] You're right.
[00:08:08 - 00:08:09] You're right.
[00:08:09 - 00:08:10] The whole movie or for a whole trilogy, really.
[00:08:10 - 00:08:11] Yeah.
[00:08:11 - 00:08:18] And then in this movie, it's not a pivot, but Loki, I mean, it is like you
[00:08:18 - 00:08:24] see her at the like a banquet for the homeless in far from home.
[00:08:24 - 00:08:29] And that's the only hint of like, Oh, Aunt May likes to do a philanthropy or whatever.
[00:08:29 - 00:08:30] And she likes to help people.
[00:08:30 - 00:08:31] Yes.
[00:08:31 - 00:08:37] And then in no way home, she's running feasts and you just expect her to like, I think it's
[00:08:37 - 00:08:41] hard for the audience to track because we haven't built up to like any of this.
[00:08:41 - 00:08:44] And then she's like super morally sound.
[00:08:44 - 00:08:47] Not saying she wasn't in homecoming and far from home, but we didn't see it.
[00:08:47 - 00:08:51] There's a lack of fleshing out for Aunt May and really Peter's relationship.
[00:08:51 - 00:08:55] Like, is it funny when she finds out he's Spiderman at the end of the homecoming?
[00:08:55 - 00:08:56] Yes.
[00:08:56 - 00:08:58] But we don't actually see that conversation play out.
[00:08:58 - 00:09:00] We don't actually get those moments between them.
[00:09:00 - 00:09:03] I mean, they barely interact in far from home.
[00:09:03 - 00:09:07] Like, honestly, Aunt May and happy are just kind of like a comedy point in that
[00:09:07 - 00:09:08] whole movie.
[00:09:08 - 00:09:09] So I don't know.
[00:09:09 - 00:09:14] I just think that, yes, I see where you're coming from of like if we had had some more
[00:09:14 - 00:09:17] build up, this death would actually hit really, really hard.
[00:09:17 - 00:09:19] And like, I think it still hits hard, but I think it's carried by Marissa
[00:09:19 - 00:09:22] Tomei and Tom Hall's performance more than anything.
[00:09:22 - 00:09:24] Which is, they're both great.
[00:09:24 - 00:09:27] They both kill it.
[00:09:27 - 00:09:32] I think that that moment really makes the movie for me, if anything.
[00:09:32 - 00:09:35] I mean, there's moments at the end that I really like.
[00:09:35 - 00:09:38] But if that moment wasn't in this movie, I would think this is just pure nostalgia
[00:09:38 - 00:09:39] bait.
[00:09:39 - 00:09:40] Yeah, I agree.
[00:09:40 - 00:09:41] Yeah.
[00:09:41 - 00:09:42] If there were no consequences, it was pure.
[00:09:42 - 00:09:43] Oh my gosh.
[00:09:43 - 00:09:48] It's Doc Ock and Alameda Foe and JB Fox and all the things.

[00:09:49 - 00:09:51] So what do you think about The Spider-Man?
[00:09:51 - 00:09:56] Again, I wanted to be cynical, but I'm like, I like all of them here.
[00:09:56 - 00:09:57] This is fun.
[00:09:57 - 00:10:03] I think, and maybe it's because it's been memed into oblivion and I've seen it four
[00:10:03 - 00:10:08] times probably at this point, but all the conversations that they have, I felt were
[00:10:08 - 00:10:10] like kind of fine.
[00:10:10 - 00:10:15] I think in the moment when like we're seeing this on screen for the first time, I'm
[00:10:15 - 00:10:16] like, oh wow, this is so funny.
[00:10:16 - 00:10:17] There's a reference.
[00:10:17 - 00:10:18] And there's a reference.
[00:10:18 - 00:10:20] This is great to see these characters on screen.
[00:10:20 - 00:10:23] Once that wears off, the conversations are a little like, you're kind of like, this is
[00:10:23 - 00:10:27] just, it's not exciting or it's not interesting enough.
[00:10:27 - 00:10:28] It's just bland.
[00:10:28 - 00:10:29] I mean, there's still a few moments.
[00:10:29 - 00:10:34] Gosh, when, when Andrew Garfield Spider-Man calls Peter, it calls the Raimi Spider-Man,
[00:10:34 - 00:10:36] like he dressed like a cool youth faster.
[00:10:36 - 00:10:37] That was hilarious.
[00:10:37 - 00:10:38] I thought it was so funny.
[00:10:38 - 00:10:40] I mean, there's funny moments and quips in here.
[00:10:40 - 00:10:43] There's a funny moment where they're all pointing at each other.
[00:10:43 - 00:10:47] But like, I don't know, I think these characters actually kind of do function
[00:10:47 - 00:10:53] well as like mentor figures for Tom Holland's kind of, like within the movie, which I didn't
[00:10:53 - 00:10:56] think I would actually say, but I think I agree with what I just said.
[00:10:56 - 00:10:59] There was one moment that I absolutely loved.
[00:10:59 - 00:11:06] And it is when Toby stops Peter from killing Willem de Vau.
[00:11:06 - 00:11:08] And there's no dialogue there, which I think is also a good choice.
[00:11:08 - 00:11:10] Like, there's just a look of like, hey, don't do this, man.
[00:11:10 - 00:11:13] Like, I mean, again, Tom Holland's performance in this movie is great.
[00:11:13 - 00:11:19] I think in this scene specific, when he's fighting Green Goblin, so good.
[00:11:19 - 00:11:22] I think you just feel all of his emotions so well.
[00:11:22 - 00:11:29] And then I might have liked a little more build up or maybe maybe a little more turmoil
[00:11:29 - 00:11:33] in Peter's own soul, like, should I even fight him?
[00:11:33 - 00:11:36] Like, no, but I think I think he is so angry.
[00:11:36 - 00:11:37] He doesn't care.
[00:11:37 - 00:11:41] But that's the thing is like he goes out of his way to save every other person.
[00:11:41 - 00:11:42] That's true.
[00:11:42 - 00:11:45] And then as soon as Green Goblin is here, it's onside.
[00:11:45 - 00:11:46] Right.
[00:11:46 - 00:11:47] Which maybe is fine.
[00:11:47 - 00:11:48] You just kill Sam.
[00:11:48 - 00:11:49] Listen, that's a very nit-picky thing.
[00:11:49 - 00:11:52] Honestly, I would probably do the same as him.
[00:11:52 - 00:11:53] Yeah, I think I would.
[00:11:53 - 00:11:54] All right.
[00:11:54 - 00:11:55] I retract my statement.
[00:11:55 - 00:11:56] Okay.
[00:11:56 - 00:11:57] That's fine.
[00:11:57 - 00:11:58] We're allowed to do that.
[00:11:58 - 00:12:01] But the reason I love that it's Toby is because we haven't seen Andrew kill anybody.
[00:12:01 - 00:12:07] And Toby has killed, attempted to kill two people, kind of killed one.
[00:12:07 - 00:12:09] That being the robber in Remy 1.
[00:12:09 - 00:12:10] Yes.
[00:12:10 - 00:12:13] I evidently tried to kill Sandman.
[00:12:13 - 00:12:16] Sandman just was made of sand and couldn't die.
[00:12:16 - 00:12:23] But like we've seen this wrestle in Toby's arc and it's so satisfying to see him be like,
[00:12:23 - 00:12:25] hey, I have literally walked down this path twice.
[00:12:25 - 00:12:26] Do not.
[00:12:26 - 00:12:27] Like, it's not worth it.
[00:12:27 - 00:12:28] Yeah.
[00:12:28 - 00:12:29] I think it's so good.
[00:12:29 - 00:12:30] Yeah.
[00:12:30 - 00:12:33] I think maybe building off that, this is a gear shift a little bit, but how do you
[00:12:33 - 00:12:38] feel about this kind of gives more character resolution for the other Spider-Man?
[00:12:38 - 00:12:39] It's true.
[00:12:39 - 00:12:43] Let's start with Remy's, you know, Toby McWire Spider-Man.
[00:12:43 - 00:12:44] How do you feel about the resolution?
[00:12:44 - 00:12:48] Not resolution, but like a continuation of the character there.
[00:12:48 - 00:12:49] Yeah.
[00:12:49 - 00:12:50] I mean, I like it.
