Shalom and welcome. Today we delve into the depth of Tanya, an exquisite work of Chabad philosophy. The Tanya teaches a profound lesson about the struggle between the animal soul and the divine soul, both residing within us.
Imagine a king and a peasant wrestling. The king, despite being physically weaker, uses his wisdom to strategize and win. Similarly, the divine soul, the king within us, could be perceived as weaker due to the physical desires of the animal soul, the peasant. Yet, the divine soul uses wisdom, Torah, to overcome the physical desires and inclinations of the animal soul.
The Tanya tells us that this struggle is not a fight to the death, rather it's a lifetime of wrestling. At times, the divine soul gains ground. Other times, it's the animal soul. But the divine soul never gives up. It uses the wisdom of Torah to keep the animal soul in check, to illuminate the darkness with the light of spirituality.
Even if you feel like the animal soul is dominant, never despair. The divine soul, with its divine strength, is always present, ready to shine its light, harness the power of Torah, and illuminate your life.
Remember, every bit of Torah learning, every mitzvah performed, is a victory for the divine soul. It's not about winning once and for all, but about continuous growth and striving for spiritual connection.
