In these chaotic and confusing times I encourage you to pause and be still so that God can speak his peace and pour his power into your life. To also search his Word for prevailing promises about God being with his people in every challenge of life knowing that what’s happening is not what’s going on.
The account in Acts 27 tells us about a violent storm with 276 passengers on board a ship. The crew began throwing the cargo overboard, people had not eaten for several days, they had not seen the sun or stars for many days. They had given up all hope of surviving the storm. But one passenger the Apostle Paul spoke words of unshakeable faith in the midst of this chaos. Last night an angel of the God whom I serve stood beside me and said, “Don’t be afraid. God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you”. So keep up your courage people, I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me. After the ship ran aground on a sandbar everyone reached land safely.
As we enter Holy Week I am also reminded his disciples had a rising faith that Jesus was the Messiah who would rule the world. This hope was dashed when he was crucified on Friday but the Resurrection on Sunday and the events that followed brought their faith to life again. Their timing was off but their idea of him bringing peace to the world someday was on target.
The simple definition of faith is acting on what you believe. May the same spirit that inspired and empowered Paul to speak words of unshakeable faith on a ship; and the same spirit that inspired and empowered the Apostles to proclaim the good news now ignite your faith to proclaim that God is with us. We know that the future is as bright as the promises of God.
And that’s Hope on the rise for now!
