Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

Every soul was precious in His eyes... in all men He saw fallen souls
whom it His was mission to save. – Steps to Christ, pg. 12
“Today, we’re going to sort carrots,” our work supervisor, Seth,
informed us.
Sorting carrots might seem easy, but it is no small feat. Carrots
roll down the carrot belt and are sorted based on their appearance.
There are three categories of carrots. The number one carrots are the
“perfect ones,” without bruises or cracks—the cream of the crop. The
second group is made up of oversized or oddly shaped carrots. These
get used for juicing. Finally, all the leftovers are sent to be ground up
and used for dog food.
Each worker is assigned a different grade of carrots to sort. As
the carrots roll along the belt, we pick out the correct ones. We want
to do a thorough job and choose the right carrots for each category,
otherwise the customers will complain because they won’t get what
they ordered. If people picked up a bag of carrots at the store and it
was a bunch of broken pieces, they would be disappointed. They didn’t
want the dog food carrots; they wanted the perfect ones.
Unlike humanity, God isn’t selective. He doesn’t treat us
differently if we have stolen a cookie, murdered someone, or if we
struggle with depression. From sinners to the brokenhearted, He loves
each of us. Just like the imperfect carrots, our souls are broken inside,
yet He cares for us no matter who we are.
