Welcome to the Know the Difference Minute for Wednesday, August 3rd.
While overall vehicle sales are estimated to be down over 10% in July, Ford is having none of that. It reported new vehicle sales up over 36% in July from a year ago. In all, they sold nearly 164,000 vehicles. What a difference from a year ago when sales were tanking due to a chip shortage that took production offline.
The F-Series pickups are killing it with over 63,000 sales in July. That’s a 21% increase. Their electric line now makes up almost 11% of all US EV’s with the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit van adding up to over 30,000 of those sales.
Auto sales are still recovering. Because of supply chain issues, US vehicle sales are expected to be down to about 14.4 million, even lower than 2020 when the pandemic shut down dealers and factories.
