Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Psalm 89. I will sing of the Lord's unfailing love forever. Young and old will hear of your faithfulness. Your unfailing love will last forever. Your faithfulness is an is as enduring as the heavens.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

The Lord said, I have made a covenant with David, my chosen servant. I have sworn this oath to him. I will establish your descendants as kings forever, and they will sit on your throne from now until eternity. And all of heaven will praise your great wonders, Lord. Myriads of angels will praise you for your faithfulness.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

For who in all of heaven can compare with the Lord? What mightiest angel is anything like the Lord? The highest angelic power stand in awe of God. He is far more awesome than all who would surround his throne. O Lord, God of heaven's armies, where is there anyone as mighty as you, O Lord?

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

You are entirely faithful. You rule the oceans. You subdue their storm tossed waves. You crush the great sea monster. You scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

The heavens are yours and the earth is yours. Everything in the world is yours. You created it all. I wanna pause there and just remind you that there actually is 52 verses in this psalm, but I wanna just kinda summarize a bit of what happens as this psalmist begins to pray reminding God of his own faithfulness and of his promise to Israel, he gets into the history that God had raised up a king through this promise. And that this king would be the one to help carry out God's plan.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Yet we also see into verse 46 that it appears as though God won't keep his promise. As the enemies encroach, as life seems to begin to fall apart, the psalmist just simply says, Lord, there in verse 49, where is your unfailing love? I love that this psalm, this prayer captures the reality of everyday life where you and I can declare how faithful God is. Like it says there in verse eight, you are entirely faithful. He will keep his promise.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

And yet at the same time have feelings of like, yo, God, where's your love today? And and this is an important reality that we walk in from time to time as Christians. That even in moments of prayer, it is important to be able to declare, God, you are faithful, but I'm not sure I can locate your love today. Help me to do that. This is especially true if you feel like you've been waiting on God or a circumstance has kind of just fallen apart in your life that you thought God was going to deliver for you.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

And so it's entirely normal and important for us to learn to pray with both of these tensions present, that God will keep his promises and you're trying to locate his love. And Jesus, we hear you inviting us in to a moment where we can just number one confess that you will keep your promise. That you made a covenant and you will bring it to pass. Even though maybe our present situation today doesn't feel like it. Maybe we're walking through something that has just completely unraveled in a relationship or in our family or in our workplace.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Or God, maybe it's just a normal day of the week and we're struggling to sense and feel your love. Would our prayer be rooted not so much in how we're just feeling or what we're thinking about, but what we know to be true beyond a doubt that you are faithful. When no one else is faithful, God, you are faithful. You are awesome. And so we look to you now.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

And holy spirit, we ask that you would help us to trust in Jesus today, knowing that he will keep his promises even when we don't feel his love. Would both of those things be true in our lives? So how holy spirit help us to do and to be what we can't be on our own today. And that's obedient disciples knowing that we we have to move beyond just our emotions. I have to move by beyond my emotions, Lord.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

And so would you help me to move to a place of obedience? Because you will keep your promise today, and I wanna live like that. We wanna live like that. And so we commit this prayer to you in Jesus name. Amen.
