IN THE MERIT OF WOMEN

It was in the merit of the righteous women of the generation that the Jewish people were redeemed from Egypt. (Sotah 11b)

No generation is redeemed, save for the righteous women of that generation. (Yalkut Shimoni, Rus, sec. 606)

Our sages tell us that our Redemption from Egypt, and every Redemption that followed, came in the merit of righteous women. The same will be true of the future Redemption. Therefore, we must do whatever we can to increase the merit of women and encourage their performance of mitzvos.

In the following days, we will examine some of the qualities and mitzvos of women, which bring particular merit to the world and hasten the Redemption.
