Good morning and welcome
to your morning cereal.
Okay, good morning and welcome to Friday.
We did it yet again.
Well done you.
And if you are over this
week, like some of us are,
it's been a weird one.
Good news, today is National Escape Day.
Well, no, it's not about running away.
Today is about escaping from
and breaking those patterns
that quietly drain you.
Well, let's do some of
the opposite of draining.
Let's pour in some knowledge.
The answer to yesterday's
trivia question, the harp.
The musical instrument
that is the national symbol
of Ireland is the harp.
And now the essential
vitamins in your morning cereal.
Today's quote is from
birthday boy turning 52 today,
Christian Bale, who said, quote,
"If you believe in yourself and have
dedication and pride
"and you never quit,
you will be a winner."
End quote.
Now go win that football game.
Doesn't that sound like a halftime speech
from a football coach?
Well, this is simple
and hard at the same time.
Achieving success, it's
not solely based on talent,
but on a combination of
self-belief, hard work,
and most importantly,
extreme perseverance.
So keep at it.
Well, let's hear from the experts now.
It's time to pour in
some of the let them theory
by Mel Robbins.
And today we are starting
chapter 17, an introduction to it,
"Provides Support the Right Way."
Now in this chapter, Mel is reframing
what support actually looks like.
She explains that many of us confuse
support with rescuing.
And while rescuing feels helpful,
it often creates
dependence instead of strength.
So Mel writes, quote,
"Supporting someone doesn't
mean fixing their problems.
"It means trusting them to solve them."
End quote.
Now that distinction, it's huge.
When we step in too quickly,
we rob others of confidence and growth.
So she explains that healthy
support is rooted in respect.
It listens without controlling.
It encourages without enabling.
And most importantly, it
allows people to experience
the natural outcomes of their choices.
Now, Mel also highlights how
over-supporting others
often comes at the
cost of our own energy,
our own boundaries, our own wellbeing.
True support doesn't
require self-sacrifice.
It requires presence and restraint.
All right, that's plenty
to chew on for you today.
So here is your Friday takeaway.
Real support empowers
people to stand on their own.
So today, remember, escape
today doesn't mean leaving.
It means choosing healthier habits.
All right, it is time for the prize
from the bottom of the cereal box.
The morning cereal should
be a question of the day.
And they are harder on
Friday, so prepare yourself.
Here it is.
What craft involves cutting out images
and varnishing them onto an object?
All right, all right.
Hey, have a great
weekend getting back out there
to the sports field, to the sidelines,
stay warm, stay safe.
And thanks for listening
to Morning Cereal this week.
We will see you back here on Monday
for the trivia answer and
more sugar for the soul.
And until then, have a fantastic day.
