DJ Whippopatomus
What is good, everyone? You are listening to WKNC 88.1 FM HD-1 Raleigh. We are a student run nonprofit radio station based at a North Carolina State University. I am DJ Whippopatomus and this is local industry talks where I interview local artists from around the mid Atlantic region. Here with me today is the very talented TiaCorine. What's good with you?

00:27
TiaCorine
Hey, what's happening?

00:29
DJ Whippopatomus
Super excited to have you out here.

00:31
TiaCorine
Thank you. Now, I really appreciate being out here. It was crazy. I didn't expect that much love, but that was crazy. That was great.

00:37
DJ Whippopatomus
For the listeners that don't know, we just got done with a meet and greet outside our building and yeah, it was lit. The energy was amazing.

00:43
TiaCorine
Yeah. I'm super appreciative of everything.

00:45
DJ Whippopatomus
For real. I really appreciate everyone pulling out like that too.

00:48
TiaCorine
For real. They show me lots of love. Really good energy too. They were like, really happy and it was like I was nervous and like, they was nervous and I was like.

00:59
DJ Whippopatomus
Now they show love. Yeah. So why don't you introduce yourself to anyone who might not know you, where you're from, what you do?

01:06
TiaCorine
So my name is TiaCorine. I'm from Winston Salem, North Carolina. I'm an artist. I rap, I sing. I pretty much do a lot of things. I direct my own music videos, of course. I write my own stuff. I record myself. So I come up with a lot of all my concepts of everything. Photo shoots, video shoots. I have my own shoe. You know what I mean? So, yeah.

01:28
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, that's fly. What's the story behind your name? Or is there one?

01:34
TiaCorine
So Tia is my real name and Corine is my middle name.

01:36
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

01:36
TiaCorine
So it just. I don't know if for a while I was having trouble like, with the rap name and.

01:41
DJ Whippopatomus
Right.

01:41
TiaCorine
It just came to me and I was like, that's just gonna be my. It's like TiaCorine?

01:45
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. And like, with it put together too, it's smooth.

01:48
TiaCorine
Yeah. So it's like it's me, but it's like, that's like close. Clark Kent, Superman. Like, Tia. So, yeah.

01:54
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay. And what is 34 Corine?

01:58
TiaCorine
So 34 is what we call Winston Salem. Like Trey foe. You know what I'm saying? Okay. So, yeah, a lot of people from Winston, they support me heavily and they call me queen of 34. So 34Corine.

02:10
DJ Whippopatomus
Heard. Yeah, you the queen of Carolina. So how long have you been making music?

02:19
TiaCorine
I've been making. I don't even know, like, because, like, I started off doing, like, singing. So, like, as a kid like in third grade I was doing talent shows. So. I've been doing this for a while.

02:29
DJ Whippopatomus
So that's where the melody comes from.

02:31
TiaCorine
Yeah. And then I picked up the flute and so I started playing the flute.

02:35
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

02:35
TiaCorine
Yeah.

02:36
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

02:36
TiaCorine
Yeah, yeah. Until my parents played a lot of music too. My dad like was singing and my mom, she played like 70s 80s, like the white rock punk, like Queen and stuff like that. But then my dad played like Run dnc, like A Tribe Called Quest.

02:49
DJ Whippopatomus
Like, you know, you had a whole lot of influences around you.

02:52
TiaCorine
Yeah.

02:53
DJ Whippopatomus
And like having someone in your family like making music or being involved with that I've learned is really crucial because a lot of artists I've talked to, they always got someone in their family that put them on.

03:03
TiaCorine
Yeah, for sure.

03:04
DJ Whippopatomus
When I have a kid, I'm about to be looking for the right uncle.

03:07
TiaCorine
Yeah, for sure.

03:11
DJ Whippopatomus
So. Yeah. The saga of 34 Corinne is such a unique album. There's really nothing else like it.

03:16
TiaCorine
Thank you.

03:17
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. The way I like to describe it to people is you spit some hard ass gangster lyrics, but with a melody, it's almost hypnotic in a way.

03:25
TiaCorine
Yeah. That's crazy. That word. A lot of people like to use that word.

03:27
DJ Whippopatomus
Hypnotic.

03:28
TiaCorine
Yeah.

03:28
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

03:29
TiaCorine
Like puts them in a trance, right? Yeah.

03:33
DJ Whippopatomus
You don't even have to be listening to the lyrics.

03:34
TiaCorine
Yeah.

03:35
DJ Whippopatomus
Flows and like I have adhd, so I have a hard time hearing lyrics I have to listen to over and over again. So it's just cool. Every time I listen to it, like I always pick up something new.

03:45
TiaCorine
Yeah.

03:45
DJ Whippopatomus
Damn, that's hard.

03:47
TiaCorine
Thank you.

03:48
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. You already know. Yeah. Also heard people describe your sound as like Anime trap.

03:56
TiaCorine
Yeah. That was like the first thing I described as when somebody asked me and I was like, well, that's just the first thing that came to my head.

04:01
DJ Whippopatomus
Because it makes sense.

04:02
TiaCorine
That's what it is in my world.

04:05
DJ Whippopatomus
So are you a fan of anime? Yeah. Do you have any favorites?

04:09
TiaCorine
So like I watch Hunter twice because I really like that Parasite is really good. I watch that twice.

04:15
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

04:16
TiaCorine
And I'm watching. You know what? I think One Piece now might be up there for me because at first I didn't really like it and then my friends, I have a few friends that I really mess with One Piece. So I was like, you know, they're like, just give it another chance. And yeah, now I'm like episode 102. Yeah. I think One Piece is up there for me. I really, I really. Yeah, it's Great. It's good.

04:39
DJ Whippopatomus
It's great.

04:40
TiaCorine
I like it. Yeah.

04:41
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. Hunter. Hunter is my favorite. I watched that, like, three times. I'm trying to read the manga so I can actually see the end, but. Yeah.

04:48
TiaCorine
Yeah. Did you see that last season with the Ants? The Ant, yeah. Yeah. That, Chuck, was crazy. That I got really. Right.

04:54
DJ Whippopatomus
It got real. Like, it got deep.

04:56
TiaCorine
Yeah. It got complex. Yeah. I was like, all right. I don't.

04:59
DJ Whippopatomus
That's why I love it, though.

05:00
TiaCorine
Yeah. That joke was crazy.

05:02
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. And so back to the saga of 34 Corine. Yeah. You hardly have any features on it. It's all you. And I really love to see that. This really speaks a lot on your talent, and I can really see that taking you far.

05:16
TiaCorine
Yeah. I think that might be, like, how I might be for a while.

05:20
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. Yeah.

05:21
TiaCorine
I don't really think I need any features.

05:23
DJ Whippopatomus
Right. No, you don't, you know.

05:26
TiaCorine
Cause sometimes people get on stuff, and I'm like, I think I just want to do it by myself. But I don't know. I just. I think that. I think that I'm probably gonna be like that for a while, I think.

05:36
DJ Whippopatomus
Right, right.

05:37
TiaCorine
I'm probably gonna have a lot of music, which is no features. Like this next project I'm putting out. I don't know if it's gonna have any features on it, too, but it's really great.

05:46
DJ Whippopatomus
Hell, yeah.

05:46
TiaCorine
It's really good.

05:47
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, yeah. And, yeah, also in your. Your album, you have snippets, I think, of, like, every song. You have, like, snippets. Snippets of different movie clips at the end. So are you, like. You're really big into movies and stuff, too?

06:00
TiaCorine
Yeah, mostly just, like, certain ones. Yeah. Or it's just like. Like, you know how you don't know where you are in a city but, you know, a landmark? Like, you know, you don't. Might not know the street or anything, but you're like.

06:11
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

06:11
TiaCorine
Like, so that tie in with movies. Like, it's like certain parts of certain movies, like, I just. I might not know the name or who the actor is, but I'm like. I just remember the certain part. And so. Yeah, a lot of those relate to just things that happen in my life that I just. They're just imprinted in my brain, so.

06:26
DJ Whippopatomus
Right. Yeah. I'm like that with music, too. Like, I'll have something in my head, and I just cannot figure out where it's from.

06:31
TiaCorine
Right.

06:32
DJ Whippopatomus
I feel that.

06:32
TiaCorine
Yeah.

06:35
DJ Whippopatomus
So who. What type of producers do you work with?

06:38
TiaCorine
I Work with everybody. Like, you know, it's a lot of people from Instagram that reach out to me. Twitter, you know, friends, strangers.

06:44
DJ Whippopatomus
You really be hitting or letting people hit you up.

06:47
TiaCorine
Yeah, I just collaborating. Posted one day. Like, I think like four years ago, I posted on my Twitter one time, my email, and I was like, send beats. And from that day, I promise you, my email has been like every day. It's like from one time I posted.

07:01
DJ Whippopatomus
It one time and it's like, you deleted it.

07:03
TiaCorine
Nah, it might still be up. But that was like four years ago. Like, bro. What? So, yeah, from then on, it's like I have an endless email. Just random crazy beats. So whenever I use one, I always email them like, hey, I use this and send them the song. And then like, what?

07:20
DJ Whippopatomus
They must go crazy.

07:21
TiaCorine
Yeah, they'd be like, damn, what the. So I always make sure that I reach out and they get the credit and stuff.

07:26
DJ Whippopatomus
Right, Right. Oh, yeah. Another thing I want to mention about the features is I see you on a lot of other artists songs featuring especially local artists. So, yeah, I really see you repping and supporting the local music scene out here.

07:38
TiaCorine
Yeah, I true do what I can. You know what I mean?

07:41
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, yeah. There's a whole lot of rappers that, you know, leave their home and just keep to themselves. So, like, I really respect that. You know, the local scene needs as much support as they can get, especially out here with. With you know, not being as much labels or just infrastructure. You know, a lot of the east coast is like that just, you know, the big cities is where it's at or where it was at.

08:04
TiaCorine
Yeah. Now it's kind of just with the, you know, Covid stuff, you can just kind of be anywhere. Yeah. And. And as long as you can work your social media and TikTok, I mean.

08:13
DJ Whippopatomus
TikTok is crazy.

08:14
TiaCorine
Yeah. So that's speaking. The game has changed.

08:18
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. Speaking of TikTok, Latto blew up off of that. Right. So how did that happen? Like, who put it up?

08:27
TiaCorine
Yeah, so this guy named Glucose Baby.

08:29
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

08:30
TiaCorine
He liked. Yeah, he like DM me on Instagram was like, yeah, I use your sound on TikTok. Like, do you have a TikTok. You should go check it out. Like, people are making videos to it. And I kind of was just like, okay, thank you. Like, I kind of brushed it out because I was like, but thank you. You know.

08:47
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

08:47
TiaCorine
And then like a week went by. Hit me up again. He's like, no, you need to go look like it's blowing up. Like, Going viral. And I was like, what? So I downloaded. I didn't high tech TikTok at the time, so I downloaded and make a profile and I go look and it's like crazy. Like 20k videos. Like 30k, 40 every. Like it was going crazy and it was like, next thing you know, it was like over like half a meal. Like just. It was crazy. Like so I don't know. But that's how it happened. For real.

09:15
DJ Whippopatomus
What was your reaction?

09:17
TiaCorine
I didn't know. I was just like, what? Like, I couldn't believe. It was like, bro, they really making videos. Like, this is my song. Like this is. And then like the people from TikTok reached out and was like, yeah. So they. I started getting paid from that because I got a call and I was like, bro, what? And this is like when first off, TikTok first came out. So a lot all the labels started calling. They're like, how are you doing this? I'm like, I didn't do anything. I don't know. I don't even have a tik tok.

09:38
DJ Whippopatomus
I don't know. Give us the secret sauce.

09:40
TiaCorine
Yeah. They're like, what are you doing? How are you doing this? We gotta. We need to know. And I was like, I don't know. I'm gonna fly you out. I'm like, okay. Yeah. So it was crazy. Like that time was really crazy. Like my numbers were just. It was ridiculous.

09:53
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, yeah. So are there any notable influences to your music?

10:00
TiaCorine
I mean, like, we'll be here all day if I said. But it's a lot like, you know, but from right now I kind of like listen to the same stuff I've been listening to. So, like, you know, tired of creator like Sza. Like, okay. You know, like Zack Fox.

10:14
DJ Whippopatomus
Like Abra. You know Abra.

10:16
TiaCorine
I've heard a few, so I do actually. Yeah, Yeah, I do actually. I have a few different. I've heard a few. Joji. You know what I'm saying? Curtis Waters is fire Joji. Okay. Yeah, I like Joji.

10:26
DJ Whippopatomus
Who's the last one you said?

10:27
TiaCorine
Curtis Waters.

10:28
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, he's from Carrie.

10:29
TiaCorine
Yeah, we just made a song together.

10:31
DJ Whippopatomus
Chill one.

10:33
TiaCorine
I just got him to come to my house and were like in the studio and stuff.

10:37
DJ Whippopatomus
That's amazing. That's cool.

10:38
TiaCorine
His whole project, he's. He's crazy.

10:40
DJ Whippopatomus
No doubt.

10:41
TiaCorine
He actually produced a song that I'm about to put on my project. Like he went. He made it just for me and it's so. It's hard.

10:48
DJ Whippopatomus
That's crazy. I can't wait for that.

10:50
TiaCorine
Yeah. So, I mean, it's a lot of. It's a lot of artists, like, you know, I mean, it's. It's. A lot of people have influenced me, you know, like, Chief.

10:57
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

10:57
TiaCorine
So, I mean, Gucci future, of course. Pierre.

11:01
DJ Whippopatomus
Of course. Yeah. Curtis, I just heard, is moving to LA soon.

11:08
TiaCorine
Yeah, he did. He's on the road. He should be there soon.

11:10
DJ Whippopatomus
Word. Word.

11:11
TiaCorine
Yeah. He's been riding his little Tesla. Yeah. He came and see me before he dipped out, like so.

11:17
DJ Whippopatomus
Making moves. Oh, for real? Yeah. So that was nice.

11:20
TiaCorine
Yeah. Oh, he's actually in a video, too, that I'm about to drop in, like, a month.

11:23
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

11:24
TiaCorine
Yeah.

11:24
DJ Whippopatomus
Tough. So my favorite song off of the saga of 34 Korean is pancakes.

11:33
TiaCorine
Yeah.

11:33
DJ Whippopatomus
And my favorite bar off of that song is.

11:36
TiaCorine
Oh, God, I'm scared. What is it, bitch?

11:40
DJ Whippopatomus
I can't twerk with this glock up on my hip.

11:43
TiaCorine
Yeah. In my fuck up in my pants. You know what? I don't know who's putting. Yeah. Lyrics. Sometimes my lyrics be all over the place, and I don't know what. I don't be putting them out. So I don't know.

11:51
DJ Whippopatomus
Right, Right.

11:51
TiaCorine
But that's funny. Cause that was a true story. Was I with y' all when that happened? I was with one of my friends. I don't know if it was y', all, but people were trying to get me to dance, and I was like, really? Like, I can't. I can't twerk. Cause I had the Glock, like, in my pants. For real. That was a true story. And everybody was laughing at me. But I was.

12:06
DJ Whippopatomus
That is so hard. Why are they laughing?

12:09
TiaCorine
Cause they thought I was joking. I was like.

12:10
DJ Whippopatomus
I'm saying, though.

12:11
TiaCorine
Yeah. I like, lift up my shirt. Like. Nah. For. We were in a bar, too, and they're like, how did you get here? That was like, I was turned up.

12:19
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

12:19
TiaCorine
I don't know how I got in, but I just, you know, I had it on me.

12:22
DJ Whippopatomus
I heard. Yeah. I love to see it. So. Yeah. Do you have any. Any release dates in mind for any upcoming projects?

12:31
TiaCorine
Yeah, so next Friday, I'm dropping a single called Gas Station.

12:35
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

12:35
TiaCorine
Actually my homegirl Missy in it.

12:37
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay. Hell yeah.

12:38
TiaCorine
Yeah. So it's actually, like. Funny thing about that song is, like, I really didn't like it like that. Like, I just felt like, compared to all the other songs that I have, it's kind of just one of those. It's a basic. It's not bad. It's just kind of like. But everybody else around me liked it, so. You feel me? So that's dropping next Friday with the video. And then three weeks after that, I'm dropping another record with a video called FF Yo Kids. Oh, yeah.

13:04
DJ Whippopatomus
Love it. Yeah.

13:05
TiaCorine
It's called FF youF Kids.

13:06
DJ Whippopatomus
And that sounds like a banger.

13:09
TiaCorine
Yeah, yeah, no, that one's great. The video is okay. And then after that.

13:14
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, yeah.

13:14
TiaCorine
From then, I'm dropping Chaka Khan. And that's produced by Kenny. And that's gonna be crazy. That songs, like, that's just gonna shake the world.

13:22
DJ Whippopatomus
One song or.

13:23
TiaCorine
It's one song. Chaka Khan is one song. Yeah. And then after that, I'm gonna drop the project. So I think I'm putting like 11 songs out. So. But, like, the project is crazy. Like, I got all flavors on there. Like, nobody's really seeing me with the music in the bars. Like, they not. They not really seeing me for real. I'm so serious.

13:43
DJ Whippopatomus
I feel like you could ride the wave of 34 Corinthian for years. You wouldn't have to drop anything else, man. But you're blessing the fans.

13:52
TiaCorine
I just gotta flex real quick, honestly.

13:55
DJ Whippopatomus
So is all that coming out this year?

13:57
TiaCorine
Yeah.

13:58
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

13:58
TiaCorine
Oh, yeah. I'm saying, like, you know, next Friday, I'm driving gas station. Right after that is F yo Kids and Chaka Khan and her project. So I've been quiet. Cause I've been doing a lot of prepping for this. It's a lot, like, it's. It's a lot that I have to do to get this. So y' all better appreciate this. Y' all better appreciate this.

14:15
DJ Whippopatomus
It's a lot.

14:16
TiaCorine
It's gonna be fire, I promise.

14:18
DJ Whippopatomus
So who did the COVID art for saga of 34? Karen.

14:23
TiaCorine
So Bosch is like. He's my best friend. He lives in Winston. He does a lot of my photos, like, videos as well. He's great. Very talented guy. And he. I had another cover that actually Bijan shot, but there was like, an issue because we shot it on film. They couldn't get the high resolution, like, things, so they were worried that all the other DSPs wouldn't take the photo. We can't really risk that. So I had to shoot something else. And I was literally getting my makeup done. I didn't know what I was about to do. I didn't know, like, I was like, okay, Bosch is going to shoot us. I would just gonna come up with something. I'm getting my makeup done. I have this vision of the COVID and I'm like, I'll call him. I was like, I know we're gonna do.

15:01
DJ Whippopatomus
Yes.

15:02
TiaCorine
Hell, Mike, get some flowers. Like, get somebody. Just get a whole bunch of just, like, flowers. And. Yeah, that's how we came up with that. And then Jason Joyride, which he works like. Well, he was working closely with Rico Nasty. He's done videos and photo shoots with her, but he edited the photo for me, so Bosh took it. He edited. I have the concept.

15:23
DJ Whippopatomus
You got the concepts, and that's what we came out.

15:26
TiaCorine
Appreciate it. Yeah.

15:29
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. So your last project you just dropped on SoundCloud. I can't say it, but it's the other word for vagina for y'.

15:36
TiaCorine
All.

15:36
DJ Whippopatomus
I don't know.

15:37
TiaCorine
A kitty.

15:38
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. Okay. So that's exclusively on SoundCloud, though. Is there any reason behind that? A couple of other artists do that. I was curious.

15:49
TiaCorine
Yeah. Because with, like, the situation I have sometimes you have to go through a big process just to drop a song. Like, it has to go through this whole distribution company, and then it's, like, so much stuff. It's like, it takes, like, three weeks just to put this on. Then they want to have the song in the system for another month before you even drop it so that it can get playlists and so that they can, you know, get it out as to many people. And then so next thing you know, you. You just try to drop one song, and it's, like, taking three months, and you're just like, yeah, I don't have time for this. So, you know, that's the SoundCloud for where you can kind of just do it without getting in trouble.

16:26
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, wow. Technically, that's game.

16:28
TiaCorine
Okay, so that was like. I don't really want to wait. I have. I made all three of those songs in one night. And I was like, dang, they're all different, but they all, like, kind of go together. And I was like, man, I ain't done that. I'm about to just. I'll just put it like, that was a very random, rash decision. Yes.

16:46
DJ Whippopatomus
That was for the people.

16:48
TiaCorine
Yeah. I mean, you know what I'm saying? So. And it did really well. Like, that was a joke. So thank you to everybody that listen to Kitty.

16:56
DJ Whippopatomus
Right? Yeah. So just to name a few collaborations. Belize DaBaby, OG spliff. Bojangles.

17:05
TiaCorine
Yeah, the Bojangles.

17:07
DJ Whippopatomus
Talk about that. That's. You're paving the way for artists. Like, I can really see artists partnering with businesses like that, like, often. I really hope to see that more.

17:16
TiaCorine
Yeah, that was that, like, that was crazy. Well, it was crazy because it was like, really? Like, Mike Boyd and Gary Vee reached out to me, and they were like, yeah, like, you know, Bojangles came to us, was, I look for artists. And we immediately thought of you. And then it's like. Then I was like, oh, I used to work at Bojangles, like, a long time ago. I used to be a shift manager. So I was like, that's crazy because, like, when I was working there, I was practicing my music. So, like, I'd be playing my music on the speaker while I'm, like, cleaning up. And I didn't. I had no experience of being a manager. And they had the first interview day. She was like, yeah, you got any manager experience? I was like, I mean, nah, but I'm smart. You feel me?

17:50
TiaCorine
She was like, all right, yeah, we gonna hire you a shift manager. And I was like, what? I was like, a bit like, so.

17:56
DJ Whippopatomus
You didn't even work there before you just stepped in the place and started running it?

17:59
TiaCorine
Yeah, it was crazy. They was mad, too. They like, man, we been here for five years.

18:02
DJ Whippopatomus
They ain't mad no more.

18:05
TiaCorine
Yeah, but it was just crazy because it was like a full circle moment.

18:08
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

18:08
TiaCorine
And so they had reached out to me, but it was like, right before I went to Rolling Loud. And so, like, I came back from Rolling Loud, and they were like, yeah, we need this song by, like, Wednesday. And it was like, Tuesday or something like that. And I was, like, making plays. They were like, yeah, we're trying to shoot this video next week. We're gonna come to Winston and, like, shoot it out of Bojangles in Winston. I was like, bruh. I was like, okay. Like, you know, they was paying me. I was like, oh. I didn't know how I was gonna.

18:35
DJ Whippopatomus
Take Bojangles money, bro.

18:36
TiaCorine
Cause they asked me to get a beat made. So I'm like, oh, my God. So I had to reach out to all these producers. I'm like, make me something. They kind of, like, explain what they wanted. I had no idea, but I had to use my imagination. I was like, yeah, give me a little, like, Bojangles theme, but with City Girls in the mix. Because they wanted something like TikTok. It's like, bouncy, you know, something. And so I reached out to, like, three people. This one guy named C. Hervo, he's from, like, New York. He's a younger guy. He's pretty young, but, yeah, he made the beat. I sat in the room and I was driving, and, like, that first bar came in my head, and I was like.

19:08
TiaCorine
Because I was, like, trying to think, like, how am I going to start this off? Like, what am I going to do? I'm driving. And that first bar came in my head. I was like, I got it. And then I just wrote it down. I went home and I made that. I recorded it. Made it. And it was like. I remember listening to, like, bro, I just made a freaking Bo Django song. I just wrote this. Y' all made the beat and recorded myself. And, like, what?

19:32
DJ Whippopatomus
Brave.

19:33
TiaCorine
I had to rap to them on the phone. They were like, can we hear it right now? Cause they called me. I was like, I just finished it.

19:38
DJ Whippopatomus
They needed it.

19:38
TiaCorine
Can we hear it right now? I was like, I mean, they were.

19:41
DJ Whippopatomus
Too lit for it. Damn.

19:43
TiaCorine
I guess I'm on the phone to be playing. Like, I was like, bruh, this shit's crazy. For real. Yeah. So that was. That was. That was crazy. Cause they came to Winston and shut down the whole Bojangles. Like, they had the police out there. Like, nobody could go in. They had the people back there cooking. Like, they gave us fresh chicken sandwiches. Like, that shit was crazy.

20:00
DJ Whippopatomus
That's when they just had another chicken sandwich come out, right?

20:03
TiaCorine
Yeah. So I was promoting the chicken sandwich.

20:06
DJ Whippopatomus
Remember taking a bite of that? Yeah.

20:08
TiaCorine
Oh, I was so sick. I did it. I had so many bites of that sandwich.

20:11
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, my.

20:11
TiaCorine
Ridiculous. I was there to, like, 4 or 5 in the morning.

20:15
DJ Whippopatomus
God damn.

20:16
TiaCorine
It was really crazy. Like, yeah. We poured tea on that man. And I was like, this is crazy. He was dancing. He was going crazy. Seeing it in real life. I was on the corner, like, he was going crazy. Shout out to that man.

20:32
DJ Whippopatomus
That's dope.

20:33
TiaCorine
Yeah.

20:34
DJ Whippopatomus
So you get free Bojangles for life now.

20:36
TiaCorine
I mean, technically. Technically, I feel that they know me there. What's up?

20:43
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, I just want to talk on your collaboration with Belize real quick. I just. I love to see the two Carolina Queens coming together. Like, that's really exciting. Yeah, she is. That's after I saw both of y' all for the first time at Summer in the Carolinas. Didn't drop too long after.

20:59
TiaCorine
Yeah. Because it's crazy. We had made the song a minute ago, like, and it was just like, Twitter. Yeah. People on Twitter are just like, yeah, y' all need to collab. So I hit her up, like, I.

21:08
DJ Whippopatomus
Was thinking that too.

21:09
TiaCorine
Yeah. I'm like, what's up? She's like, what's up? I was like, she's like, yeah. Well, I think that were both. One of us was out of town. But then like a week later, we like. She set up a session, I came, we made a jump, and it was like, okay. And so then were just like, cool ever since. So. Yeah. She's hard, though. That. That session was like, really smooth. I think the first beat that was played, were like. We looked at each other like, yeah, mister. What?

21:33
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, that's tough. Where did y' all record that?

21:38
TiaCorine
I. I don't know, per se, but I think J. Stacks was the one that recorded us.

21:43
DJ Whippopatomus
What?

21:44
TiaCorine
We were in Charlotte.

21:45
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

21:45
TiaCorine
Yeah. Some. Some building it was. Looks. It looks something like this.

21:50
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

21:51
TiaCorine
Yeah.

21:51
DJ Whippopatomus
So our bricks.

21:52
TiaCorine
Yeah, yeah.

21:55
DJ Whippopatomus
So, yeah, with all these collaborations, I know you must have a deep vault.

22:00
TiaCorine
Yeah, it's crazy. Like, I have over 300 songs, but, like, it's just like random people, like. Wap dad. Yeah.

22:08
DJ Whippopatomus
How many you have out right now? Like 20, maybe.

22:10
TiaCorine
Yeah, I have a lot of stuff.

22:12
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, man.

22:13
TiaCorine
But, yeah, that's crazy. Got a lot of stuff. Secret stuff.

22:17
DJ Whippopatomus
See, we had to talk about your music videos, specifically. Luigi, that music video is crazy.

22:23
TiaCorine
Like, yeah, Jason crazy.

22:26
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. Who shot that?

22:27
TiaCorine
Jason Joyride. So the same person that edited the. Oh, right, the COVID he shot. Well, he edited. Rick Lancaster shot it.

22:36
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay. Yeah. I love to shoot out or shout out all the. All the behind the scenes people, too.

22:42
TiaCorine
I gotta do it.

22:43
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. Yeah. For real. Yeah. Kenny. Kenny Beats isn't in many music videos. That's. That's. That just shows how legendary the video is.

22:52
TiaCorine
Yeah. Now he told me. He was like, I can't believe I'm doing this. He's like. Like, I got anxiety. I can't believe how, like, he stayed for a whole hour. And it was great. Like, he. He was. I was. I couldn't believe it. So I really appreciate. He pulled up. He actually came.

23:06
DJ Whippopatomus
I really loved how y' all had that depression flyer in there too. And, like, it had the number and everything. Like, I'm a real mental health advocate, so, like, I love to see that.

23:13
TiaCorine
Yeah. Yeah. No, that was. Jason went crazy with that video.

23:16
DJ Whippopatomus
Right? For real.

23:18
TiaCorine
For real. He went crazy.

23:20
DJ Whippopatomus
The cereal boxes, bruh.

23:22
TiaCorine
When he sent it to me, I was. I was like. I had just pulled up the food line. I was about to go grocery shopping. I was like, yeah, like, bruh, no, this is too hard. What? I'm like, nobody around knows what I'm looking at right now. Y' all don't understand. Like, no, everybody look at this. This junk is crazy, honestly.

23:41
DJ Whippopatomus
And, like, watching that tripping man. Yeah, I have a whole YouTube playlist for that.

23:49
TiaCorine
Me with the muscle body is crazy. Yeah.

23:52
DJ Whippopatomus
Hard.

23:53
TiaCorine
Yeah, that's crazy.

23:55
DJ Whippopatomus
And Kenny put you on gta, am I right?

23:59
TiaCorine
Yeah. So basically he. He told me that, you know, companies reach out into producers and him too, and they'll. They're looking for a certain type of songs or something, and they might want unreleased.

24:09
DJ Whippopatomus
And yours is perfect.

24:11
TiaCorine
Yeah. So he said, I send your stuff and a few other stuff people a lot. And he said that one time I sent yours and somebody else, they chose yours. He was like, they love that song. He was like, yeah, so you're on DTA now we're on gta. And I'm like, what? He was like, yeah, I just got you a check. And I was like, yeah. And he did. He definitely got me a big check. And that was, like, one of my goals. Like, I used to play GTA with my brothers and stuff. So just, like, listening to the stations and just like, bruh, I'm on there now. Like, I am on the. Like, my song is on gta.

24:43
DJ Whippopatomus
That is so crazy.

24:45
TiaCorine
Just like, I feel like I'm real on a Grammy or something. Like. But everybody's not on gta just about.

24:50
DJ Whippopatomus
Damn.

24:51
TiaCorine
Yo. Crazy.

24:52
DJ Whippopatomus
So have you. Have you played or seen anyone play it with your song?

24:55
TiaCorine
Yeah, people send me photos and videos all the time.

24:57
DJ Whippopatomus
I gotta start playing GTA again.

24:59
TiaCorine
I'm telling you. It's just people just running people over, playing them. Yeah. Like, that's this. Crazy. Crazy.

25:06
DJ Whippopatomus
So one more question before we take a break. When you're making a song, do you look for a beat first, then put the lyrics on? Or do you have the lyrics and find the beat? Or a little bit of both.

25:17
TiaCorine
Yeah. It just depends on what. What kind of day it is, you know, Like, I spend two hours trying to find a beat. It's gotta be the per. Like, it's gotta hit me a certain way for me to, like, get on it. Yeah. And then, like, sometimes, you know, like, Eminem, he used to just be out and just write little things here and there. So I do that in my phone. Like, I might be out and I might write a few bars. And so while I'm finding the beat, sometimes I might look and I find a starter bar, and I'm like, oh, this actually fits perfect with this. And it just, like, starts me off.

25:45
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

25:45
TiaCorine
Yeah.

25:46
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, that's cool. I love to give people perspective on the process.

25:49
TiaCorine
Yeah. Or just sometimes I just go in and just close my eyes and be.

25:53
DJ Whippopatomus
Pushing it yeah heard yeah. So we're gonna take a quick break to play y'all. Pancakes by TiaCorine. Y'all stay tuned. We'll be right.

26:29
Music
[TiaCorine - Pancakes]

28:17
DJ Whippopatomus
And we are back again. I am DJ Whippopatomus. This is Local Industry Talks. And I'm still here with TiaCorine. Hell yeah. So, yeah, we got to talk about your performances. Now, the first time I saw you was at somewhere in the Carolinas, here, downtown Raleigh. It was hot.

28:37
TiaCorine
Oh, gosh. Was it. Boy, my hair knew it was. Oh, yeah.

28:41
DJ Whippopatomus
I was kind of geeked out there. And the heat hits differently on that.

28:45
TiaCorine
Tell me about it. Yeah, I was definitely bit. So I understand.

28:49
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

28:50
TiaCorine
Yeah.

28:51
DJ Whippopatomus
You came in stepping, though. I had no idea who you were. I saw you pull up and people. People around you like, who's that? And like, you were in the all black. Like, punk hardcore fit with the. Was it liberty?

29:03
TiaCorine
Yeah.

29:03
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. The Liberty spikes went so hard. I looked at you, I was like, she makes good music. You gotta be an artist.

29:12
TiaCorine
Thank you.

29:13
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. You already know. Yeah. Shout out to Noah and Big John for putting that together. And they've been putting together festivals all across the state. It's. They're doing a lot for the locals.

29:23
TiaCorine
Yeah, they went crazy.

29:24
DJ Whippopatomus
What was that. That show like, for you?

29:27
TiaCorine
Oh, but it was. It was great. That's like, one of my favorite, like, performances because for one, like, I had a lot of love. And like, just with performing the unreleased, just seeing everybody reacting, going crazy. Like, people were almost like, mosh pitting at one of the songs I performed. And I was like, simultaneously, like, rapping and looking like, oh, freak. This is cool. Like, okay, this is. I was like, okay, this is good. This is good. So that. The energy, like, oh, gosh, I feel like I could have lived on the stage in that moment. Like, it was. Yeah, that was crazy, right?

30:00
DJ Whippopatomus
Is. Is that. Does that happen a lot with your crowds?

30:03
TiaCorine
They, you know, it. It depends where it is. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, because, like, day in Vegas, I got a really great, you know, reaction. Like, they were really.

30:11
DJ Whippopatomus
They were in there.

30:11
TiaCorine
Yeah, they were like, yeah, so. And then, you know, New York was kind of like, oh, no, I don't know. But they were like. They were in and out. Like, it was a few people, but they were definitely, like, a lot of people. DM me was like, yeah, I was just watching you because I never seen you before, but you're actually really good. Like, I like your music. Yeah, they were good. Like, after response, I think they were just all just looking like, who is that?

30:34
DJ Whippopatomus
Right? Taking it in.

30:36
TiaCorine
Yeah, who is this? I've never heard of this person. Who is this guy? Who is this guy? Right? So, yeah, my Rolling Loud performance in Miami was actually really good, though. It was like, for people to be. Not, like. Like, was someone missing it. Just seeing everybody running across the field, like. Like, that won my heart so much. I was like, yo. Like, it didn't matter. Like, if everybody was out there like, that. People were running to see me. Like, that's crazy.

31:04
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, it's well deserved.

31:06
TiaCorine
Yeah.

31:06
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. So how was rolling that? Was that, like your first type of big festival?

31:10
TiaCorine
Yeah, I would like to say yeah. Yeah. Because a lot of other performances that. That I did that were big were just random. Like, go upstate, Go. Just throwing me on stage. I'm like, oh, yeah, okay. But, yeah, for sure. I remember seeing the flyer, and I didn't even know I was performing. I didn't even know. I had no idea.

31:28
DJ Whippopatomus
Somebody found out on the flyer.

31:30
TiaCorine
Yeah, my. The girl. That DJ's for me, Kim. Who?

31:33
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

31:34
TiaCorine
Who that? She. She DM me the COVID and was like, okay, I see you. And I was like, what we talking about? Yeah. And I'll go and look. And I'm like, oh. And I'm like, running around the house like, let's go. Yo, I had no idea. I called my man's, like, y' all didn't know this? Like, I mean, we didn't know either. Nobody knew. Like, I had no idea.

31:52
DJ Whippopatomus
So who set that up?

31:53
TiaCorine
Right? I. I don't know. It might have been Andrew, which is okay. He sets up my shows. I don't know. But, I mean, you know, he has people. But like, last year, right. But like, a year before that, Rolling Loud hit me up on Twitter was like, yo, TiaCorine is fired. So it was like, it was meant to be. Meant to be. I was like, I'm gonna be on about next year. And then I ended up being all three, so it was crazy.

32:16
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, that is. So did you meet any cool people while you're on that?

32:21
TiaCorine
Like, I met, like, I met Tay Money.

32:24
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

32:24
TiaCorine
And she was nice. She was cool. So, like. Yeah, I mean, I kind of saw a lot of people, but, like, talking to people, it was kind of like, also, Rico Nasty saw me, and we saw each other, and she gave me.

32:35
DJ Whippopatomus
A hug, and I was like, love, Rico Nasty.

32:38
TiaCorine
Yeah. So I saw a lot of people screen, and then somebody said that I was a fake scissor in my eyes, like, kind of sad. But then I was like, wait, that's kind of.

32:47
DJ Whippopatomus
Is it.

32:47
TiaCorine
It's kind of lit that they're like, oh, this is like the fake scissor. And I was like. I was like, in the process of walking out of my room that they give you to turn up and they give you all the weed and stuff. Yeah, okay. And I'm just like. I'm strutting, and then I hear this comment. I'm like, what'd you say?

33:05
DJ Whippopatomus
I don't know. Yeah. How do you take that?

33:06
TiaCorine
Yeah, I was like, all right.

33:08
DJ Whippopatomus
But, yeah, shout out to you for keeping it right. But when was your last performance?

33:18
TiaCorine
I think that was. It might have been the Rolling Loud in California. San Bernardino.

33:26
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

33:26
TiaCorine
I think that was the last one. Yeah.

33:29
DJ Whippopatomus
Do you. Do you know when your next show is going to be? Do you have anything lined up?

33:32
TiaCorine
It was. I was supposed to do the Smokers Club.

33:34
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, really?

33:35
TiaCorine
Like, they were like. I was told, like, yeah, they definitely were like, yeah, okay. But. But I'm trying to, like, go on tour, so.

33:42
DJ Whippopatomus
Yes.

33:43
TiaCorine
Yeah. It's kind of like, blow up. Yeah, I'm trying to go on tour, and so it's kind of like I want to keep my schedule Open. Because it could just be one random thing, and it's like, I don't want to.

33:53
DJ Whippopatomus
You can.

33:53
TiaCorine
God. It's like I'm trying to just keep it open. So I'm just focused on putting these singles out, dropping this project and doing these videos and. And getting on tour.

34:05
DJ Whippopatomus
Hell, yeah. Keep Norfolk, Virginia, in mind. I've been putting the homies. That's where I'm from, but I've been putting the homies on. They really mess with you out there.

34:13
TiaCorine
Yeah, I'm trying to go everywhere.

34:15
DJ Whippopatomus
Yes. So are there, like, any types of rituals you practice before a show? Anything to get you in the moment?

34:21
TiaCorine
I just go pee. That's great. I get so nervous. Like, I just be peeing so much. Like, I'd be like, oh, my God. Yeah, that and, like, you know, I always take a little drinking. Drake.

34:32
DJ Whippopatomus
Got you. Yeah. It's a ritual.

34:33
TiaCorine
Yeah.

34:33
DJ Whippopatomus
For real. That's culture. Yeah.

34:35
TiaCorine
So that's really it. And just like, sometimes I get by myself and just put my AirPods in. I look in the mirror and I just, you know, go through it real briefly, the performance, make sure I look cool.

34:45
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. So even TiaCorine gets nervous.

34:47
TiaCorine
Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's like, excited nervous. It's like, oh, my God. Yeah. Yeah, I definitely get nervous.

34:54
DJ Whippopatomus
So you're from Winston Salem. Do you have roots anywhere else?

35:00
TiaCorine
No, not really.

35:01
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, I heard. I mean, so your family's deep in Winston?

35:05
TiaCorine
Well, my mom is, like, she's not from here. Oh, it's from Idaho.

35:08
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay. Idaho. All right.

35:10
TiaCorine
Yeah. So, yeah, no, it's just us, but I have a lot of friends, so that have become my family.

35:18
DJ Whippopatomus
Right, Right. I feel that. Yeah.

35:19
TiaCorine
So I feel heavily rooted in Winston. You know, they.

35:21
DJ Whippopatomus
Right.

35:22
TiaCorine
That's my city.

35:23
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. They keep coming back.

35:25
TiaCorine
Yeah.

35:25
DJ Whippopatomus
That's the best part.

35:27
TiaCorine
I love it there.

35:28
DJ Whippopatomus
So, yeah, I like to get to know the person behind the artist better. So what was high school like in Winston Salem?

35:36
TiaCorine
High school was lit.

35:37
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. Was it?

35:37
TiaCorine
Yeah, I was bad. I was like a nerd, but I was bad.

35:41
DJ Whippopatomus
Really?

35:42
TiaCorine
Yeah. I was thinking at the house. So, like, my friends. Yeah. Parties. I used to throw house parties at my house when my mom worked third shift. And they used to go down. Yeah, they used to go down. Everybody speak when my mom was out. Yeah. But one time I got caught. Like, she left, and then she came back and I guess she forgot something. And I had all these people.

36:00
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, yeah.

36:01
TiaCorine
And she was like, what are y' all doing? And I was like, I didn't wanna lie. Cause like, my mom is, like, really heavy on the not. Don't lie to me.

36:08
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, yeah.

36:09
TiaCorine
So I was like, okay, so when you go to work, I be having my friends over here and we be. We be. We be partying in the house, though. I bet we be in the house, though. Yeah. So she kind of was like, well, I'd rather you be in the house. So she was like, just be smart. You know what I'm saying? Don't mess with the house. You know, no smoking in the house and stuff like that. Yeah, but I mean, I had told her, like, we be. You know, we was drinking. I just told her, like, is she. She. I mean, she was like, if you. If I tell you not to, you're gonna do it anyway. But I'd rather you be safe in the house. And I know what you're doing.

36:41
TiaCorine
And so you know your friends have somewhere safe to drink if you're gonna. If y' all gonna do it. So she like, it was like, yeah, like, let me create a safe haven for my friends to turn up to. And so that was the movie weekend. Like, were you doing a house party? Yeah.

36:56
DJ Whippopatomus
So, yeah, it was your mom. Like, that's. That's a smart ass reaction, honestly. You know, some parents will talk that.

37:02
TiaCorine
Yeah, nice. My mom is really cool. My friends used to call her Pimp Betty.

37:07
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, okay. She's with it.

37:09
TiaCorine
Yeah, she used to cuss us out too, but.

37:11
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, no doubt.

37:13
TiaCorine
Yes. For real.

37:14
DJ Whippopatomus
And for a little context for listeners out there. Tia's got her day one friend with her. Y' all were at the parties together?

37:21
TiaCorine
Yeah, yeah.

37:22
DJ Whippopatomus
What's your name again?

37:24
TiaCorine
Missy.

37:24
DJ Whippopatomus
Missy. Okay.

37:25
TiaCorine
But yeah, so, yeah, I threw a project S party and that was in the newspaper. What? Yeah, my mom got arrested. It was crazy, bro. Yes. Oh, my God. Like, yeah, it was like the whole Winston Salem Police Department was at my house. I was in the news and I worked at the food line. So, like, you know, I saw people. I'm like, handing out these newspapers. Like, that has, like, my whole. It was just.

37:49
DJ Whippopatomus
Crazy.

37:50
TiaCorine
Oh, my God. That was legendary, though.

37:52
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

37:53
TiaCorine
Honestly, I'm dead.

37:55
DJ Whippopatomus
Your life is legendary, Honestly.

37:57
TiaCorine
Yeah.

37:57
DJ Whippopatomus
From what you've been telling me. So, yeah, like, we kind of touched on before. Your sense of fashion is very versatile. Can you describe to the listeners kind of what your sense of fashion is?

38:08
TiaCorine
It's really just all over the place. I feel like my sense of fashion is a reflection of the different genres of music I make because I have, like a pop. Like a pop. Tia. A Rapper edgy Tia. I have, like, a, you know, rock star Tia. The grungy Tia. The skater Tia.

38:24
DJ Whippopatomus
I see that.

38:24
TiaCorine
You know, I get. I dress up. So the little, like, you know, city girl Tia. You know, I got, like, hoochie mama Tia. Yeah. Trey foe Tia. Slutty Tia. You know, I got a lot different. So that just. It's just a reflection of the type of different musics I make. Yeah.

38:40
DJ Whippopatomus
The. The fans be eating that up. I see it in the comments. Like, are you a model? Like, is that what you're doing? Kind.

38:48
TiaCorine
Yeah. It's like.

38:49
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

38:49
TiaCorine
Now. Pretty much now. But, like, it just started off when people asked me, and then it just. I started getting good, and I was like, wait a second. People start asking, like, do you mind, like, calling me in bottles?

38:59
DJ Whippopatomus
So I was like, wait, basically. Yeah.

39:01
TiaCorine
So I want to get into that. I did my first Runway, like, a while, like a year or two ago.

39:05
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

39:06
TiaCorine
So I want to get into that, like, really doing photo shoots for brands and, like, getting our Runway again. That was.

39:11
DJ Whippopatomus
That was cool, right? Right.

39:13
TiaCorine
Yeah.

39:14
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, what's. What's the music scene like in Winston?

39:17
TiaCorine
It's crazy. It's actually coming up, like, really, like. Well, like, a lot of people are working together. They got hyper, steady as a group. They have a lot of just single artists like Fresco and.

39:27
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay, yeah.

39:28
TiaCorine
Apex. And then they got. From the. Trey, and then they got, you know, saucepan. Rip Sauce.

39:33
DJ Whippopatomus
Yes.

39:34
TiaCorine
Rest in peace, Weston way. You know, I mean, it's. It's a lot. It's a lot of people that I could just really keep going.

39:42
DJ Whippopatomus
Right, right. No doubt.

39:43
TiaCorine
Yeah.

39:44
DJ Whippopatomus
That's what I'm starting to discover, too.

39:45
TiaCorine
Like Ye, flower and blue. I mean, it's. Yeah, it's so many different artists, but they're all, like, different. And, like. I don't know. I mean, there's a strong music scene now.

39:57
DJ Whippopatomus
What. What type of music scenes? Is it mainly hip hop or. They do other stuff, too.

40:01
TiaCorine
It's other stuff. Like, people. There's people that do soul. Yeah. Type of stuff. I mean, there's a lot of people that play instruments. There's a lot of just, like, rap. There's a lot of, like, alternative music. But a lot of them have, like, a lot of range. Yeah, you kind of just stay in a pocket of, like, a sound, a certain sound, because you would say street sound.

40:16
DJ Whippopatomus
Right.

40:17
TiaCorine
But I know a lot of people that, you know, have a range of, like, things that they can do and.

40:24
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. So has it evolved over time? Was it always like that? Or was there a change at some point?

40:30
TiaCorine
No, it wasn't like that. I think it was. If it was more so undercover, you know, but now that I think people are more so, like, working together. And that's the key. The structure is just changing of just, like, coming together. So. Yeah, yeah.

40:42
DJ Whippopatomus
I want to go back to the fashion real quick. I see you rocking days in blue. He's based out of Charlotte, or at least he was.

40:49
TiaCorine
Charlotte. Yeah.

40:50
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

40:50
TiaCorine
There he is. Yeah, yeah, that's my boy.

40:52
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. I love to. Love to see the local drip. Honestly, like, right now, that's basically all I'm wearing from Virginia.

40:58
TiaCorine
Yeah. All right. Now I got on public, so she's from Atlanta, though.

41:01
DJ Whippopatomus
Let him know.

41:02
TiaCorine
Okay, so this is, you know, public. Yeah.

41:06
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

41:06
TiaCorine
Like, was just like, yeah, model for some giant. I was like, heck, yeah. And then, yeah, I gave this. This is for you. And I was like, this is. I love when, you know, I get the merch and I get to model in it too. Like, that's always great, right?

41:19
DJ Whippopatomus
Right? Yeah. You look like you're having fun every time.

41:21
TiaCorine
Yeah, I do. I love it. Yeah, yeah. Shout out, like, Fonny. You know, he's from Atlanta, but I like to, like. He's great. He's Fonny. I've done so many shoots with him already, and it's like, he's. His stuff is crazy. So then there's fine Bridges from Charlotte, so it's okay. I mess with a lot of people.

41:38
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

41:39
TiaCorine
I also want to say sorry. American hardcore. I don't know.

41:41
DJ Whippopatomus
Yes, yes.

41:43
TiaCorine
She is correct. Her junk is crazy.

41:47
DJ Whippopatomus
From the Outer Banks, Right. Kill Devil Hill.

41:49
TiaCorine
She's. She's hard. American hardcore.

41:51
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. Yeah. I copped a few things. They made a really hard hornets shirt.

41:55
TiaCorine
Yeah.

41:56
DJ Whippopatomus
With the blunt and the middle finger.

41:57
TiaCorine
Yes. Seagull's dumb.

41:59
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

42:00
TiaCorine
She just gave me some new junk, too, so I like to wear a lot of people's stuff.

42:03
DJ Whippopatomus
So, yeah, shout out all the local fashion designers. Keep doing your thing.

42:06
TiaCorine
Yeah, man.

42:08
DJ Whippopatomus
So also, this is a fun question. People kind of go crazy for it sometimes. What's your favorite local restaurant out in Winston or anywhere in Carolina?

42:17
TiaCorine
My favorite local restaurant in Winston is Charm Thai.

42:20
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

42:20
TiaCorine
It's a Thai restaurant in downtown Winston. Nigel is so good.

42:26
DJ Whippopatomus
What are you ordering?

42:29
TiaCorine
I want it right now. For real. So good. Good.

42:32
DJ Whippopatomus
What do you order?

42:33
TiaCorine
What? I order a few things. Yeah, like, definitely gotta get the. Those spring rolls. So crispy in the sauce, right? Yes. Oh, my God.

42:44
DJ Whippopatomus
What's your entree?

42:46
TiaCorine
Well, either I get, like, the. I don't know. I think it's called Pad Thai or. Yeah, yeah, something like that. But it's. Well, see, that's what it's called. But they don't. It doesn't have the penis in it, but it has some, like, noodle with, like, this, like, shredded chicken type of thing. Yeah, I don't know, but what type.

43:05
DJ Whippopatomus
Of noodle is it? It's skinnier or wide?

43:07
TiaCorine
Nah, it's kind of wide, but.

43:09
DJ Whippopatomus
Patsy.

43:09
TiaCorine
Ooh, that might be it.

43:11
DJ Whippopatomus
That's what I'd be getting. That's my favorite.

43:14
TiaCorine
And you can. They have all these different spice levels, so. Yeah, you can order anything and make it spicy. And I love spicy food, so. Yes, I need the Thai.

43:21
DJ Whippopatomus
You get a Thai spicy?

43:21
TiaCorine
Yes.

43:22
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, me too. It's hard to find a good Thai spot out here. I found one in Durham. It was called Pad Thai House. That's it. What's our next.

43:31
TiaCorine
Going there now?

43:32
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, maybe nine. So. Yeah, we about to wrap this up, though.

43:37
TiaCorine
Yeah, let's go.

43:39
DJ Whippopatomus
So, yeah, let's get to the next question. Do you have any favorite sports teams? You into sports?

43:45
TiaCorine
No, not really. Not anymore. You know, I just rap.

43:51
DJ Whippopatomus
Are you a cat person? Dog person? Or do you prefer another animal?

43:54
TiaCorine
Okay, yeah, like, I mean, I think cats are cool, but I'm just really allergic.

43:58
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, yeah, that's.

43:59
TiaCorine
They're hard to read. I don't got time for that. Yeah, I got scratched one time.

44:03
DJ Whippopatomus
That's what I love.

44:04
TiaCorine
Honestly, I hate that. Like, they'll be purring, and then they'll turn around and scratch you.

44:07
DJ Whippopatomus
Like, I got a cat and a dog, and my cat's weird. He likes to suck on fingers.

44:12
TiaCorine
What? See? Nah, bro. They gotta go. Nah, nah, bro. What is it about you sleeping and it's just like, yo. What? He'll get slapped across the room, though.

44:23
DJ Whippopatomus
He's wild. Yeah, he could be. He gets that. Sometimes he be cutting up.

44:27
TiaCorine
What? Yeah. Not how. They be running around at night like crazy.

44:31
DJ Whippopatomus
He'd be making crazy noises.

44:34
TiaCorine
Ew, they tongue's rough.

44:36
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, yeah, there's little spikes. Little tiny spikes. He'd be licking me, too.

44:40
TiaCorine
What?

44:41
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

44:41
TiaCorine
Why do you want cats? Y' all tripping.

44:44
DJ Whippopatomus
Hey, maybe if you meet him, you might feel different. But I know you're allergic, so it really is already over. I got to show you a picture of him, though.

44:51
TiaCorine
He's.

44:52
DJ Whippopatomus
His name's Icy. My dog's name is Rico. I named her at the Rico Nasty, actually. Oh, that's hard. And she's wild. Like Rico too.

44:58
TiaCorine
That's hard. That's hard.

45:00
DJ Whippopatomus
She really took on the Persona that's lit. I also heard that you be collecting Pokemon cards.

45:06
TiaCorine
Oh, well, I have.

45:07
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

45:08
TiaCorine
Yeah. Like, for a while. Like, you know, when I was a kid, of course. But I still have them. Like, I have like a. I have the Pokemon book where you slide all the men. And I have, like, good shape. Oh, yeah. Take care of the attic. Yeah.

45:19
DJ Whippopatomus
Heard. Yeah.

45:20
TiaCorine
Those are holding on to them.

45:22
DJ Whippopatomus
Those are like stocks. Like, they're shooting up.

45:24
TiaCorine
I have, like, a lot too. Like, I mean, I have mew. Like, you know.

45:27
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

45:28
TiaCorine
Like, you know all of those.

45:29
DJ Whippopatomus
So I got some Japanese joints. Yes. It's crazy. Love to see it, though. I was watching. I watched a bunch of interviews, but I remember you talking about how, like, you'd be having, like, visions, and then you just see it come. Come to fruition and basically synchronicities, you know I'm talking about. So do you have those a lot?

45:46
TiaCorine
Yeah, yeah. And it's weird. Like, I've always had them as a kid, and I used to be like. Like, almost like, is this called deja vu? And this is like.

45:53
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

45:53
TiaCorine
So basically it'd be like. It'd be so crazy because I could just be in the car and, you know, just looking out the window, and it's just like. Like, if that's a raven moment, like, it's just like.

46:02
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

46:02
TiaCorine
And I see it and I feel it, and I'm like, whoa. And then, like, it'll happen. I'll be like, bro, I'll be in class when it does. Because it'll. Maybe some time don't went by is that I totally forgot about. And I'll just be in the moment. And it's like, I was like, whoa, wait a second. I've been here. And it's a weird feeling. I would pause in public, like, whoa, hold on. Nah. I remember seeing this show. This is crazy. So that happens to me a lot. Especially with just things that happen in my life, like accomplishments. It's like, I saw this. I said this John, and it's like, yeah, it happens a lot.

46:34
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah. I always say, like, when that happens, like, that's the universe telling you're on the right path. Like, you know, you're doing it right. You don't have to question anything. Yeah, I'd be having a lot of those, too. Especially lately, just with I've been doing a lot, and, like, it's been coming to me, like, damn.

46:48
TiaCorine
Yeah.

46:48
DJ Whippopatomus
It just hits you, like, it's crazy. So if you ever, like, go on vacation and try to get away, are you a mountain person or a beach person?

46:58
TiaCorine
Oh, that's hard. I like to do both.

47:00
DJ Whippopatomus
Right.

47:00
TiaCorine
Like, at least I try to find both. I can make sure, like.

47:02
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

47:03
TiaCorine
At least something where I can, like, climb up and.

47:05
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

47:06
TiaCorine
You like nature? Yeah, I like. Oh, yeah. Biking.

47:09
DJ Whippopatomus
Okay.

47:10
TiaCorine
Yeah.

47:10
DJ Whippopatomus
All right.

47:11
TiaCorine
I'm wild guy. I feel that.

47:13
DJ Whippopatomus
I feel that.

47:14
TiaCorine
Yeah.

47:14
DJ Whippopatomus
You be camping.

47:16
TiaCorine
You know what? I haven't gotten there yet, but I would like to. That's on actually on a bucket list. I'm actually trying to start a show, actually. You. A channel on YouTube where I do all these things off my bucket list, you know, And I record it for the first time, me doing it, so you get the first reaction. But, oh, gosh, I'm scared. I watch too many movies. Oh, I don't know if I can sleep, like, bruh. I don't know if I can sleep. Oh, my God. For spider, get on me.

47:41
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. You gotta go with the right people that know what they're doing so they can set you straight, bruh.

47:46
TiaCorine
I don't know, but I feel like.

47:48
DJ Whippopatomus
If you really ain't with bugs, then.

47:49
TiaCorine
Yeah, I gotta do it. Cause I want to. Like, I want to. I think I'm gonna take 10 cell phones with me. Cause, like, bro, I just. He's a nature guy that. I watched him cook a fish outside, like, on a rock, like, yo. And he be cooking crazy. So I, like. I want to take him with me almost. Almost like on some Steve Irwin junk where he's like, yeah, we're gonna do this. And he's like, tia, come help me. You know what I'm saying? So I'll do it.

48:11
DJ Whippopatomus
That's so tough.

48:12
TiaCorine
Yeah, it's getting hot. So actually, yeah, I'm gonna set that up.

48:15
DJ Whippopatomus
I just saw 10 cell phones he opened. Or he was the headliner for in the Fest. And Boone, and he pulled up to the bnb.

48:21
TiaCorine
It Tesla wasn't hard. He's a funny guy, that guy right there. Hilarious. Yeah, he's hilarious.

48:28
DJ Whippopatomus
I wish I could have talked to him. What I had. Let him hit my. My tequila, had some Esplan.

48:32
TiaCorine
Yeah.

48:32
DJ Whippopatomus
Since you got the Esplanade, I got you. But then I kind of blacked out after that.

48:36
TiaCorine
Yeah. Nah, yeah, nah. That's my guy. So I can definitely. I can get it. Like, I can. He'll. He'll definitely pull up and do the same thing I did. Like.

48:44
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, I just text him that'd be amazing.

48:46
TiaCorine
Yeah, I was talking to him this morning.

48:47
DJ Whippopatomus
Great. Yeah, I love his Instagram. He has all the guns. He's such a shooter for real. Last question before start closing things out. Kind of gives us a perspective of how your process works. How many hours of sleep you get a night?

49:06
TiaCorine
Well, it might not be at night, might be the next day. I at least try to get life four, five, for sure. Because, like, I do a lot of stuff during the day and then I might not be able to record until like 12, like I said, sometimes took me two hours on the beat. So I probably don't even really start recording until like three.

49:25
DJ Whippopatomus
Right.

49:26
TiaCorine
And then I'd be recording for like five hours.

49:28
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

49:29
TiaCorine
So, yeah, it might just be like I go to sleep at like 6 and then I wake up at like 12 in the afternoon and then I do it again.

49:38
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, yeah, I see that with a lot of artists.

49:40
TiaCorine
Just. You can't sleep whenever. Yeah, I sleep whenever I can sleep.

49:44
DJ Whippopatomus
Right. When you're on that level, like, sleep, it gets cut back.

49:47
TiaCorine
It's not existent. Yeah, you're like, I could sleep, but I could. I could work still.

49:53
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, Yeah, I feel it. Is there anything else you want to talk about before we close things out?

50:00
TiaCorine
No, I just want to say, like, you know, I'm dropping something. Gas station, a single in a video next Friday. I just want y' all to keep in tune, help me push things, you know, because there's a lot going on. Like I said, it's a lot of behind the scenes stuff that I have to do. So being on social media and promoting things consistently all day, it gets wicked. Right? Yeah. I appreciate everyone's help and support. And, you know, I got a project coming for y', all and it's. It's actually gonna be called I Can't Wait.

50:25
DJ Whippopatomus
I can't. For real. That's what everyone's saying.

50:28
TiaCorine
I can't wait. So that's. Yeah, that's literally. And yeah, it's very. I just feel like I'm on a journey right now and I'm like, almost. I'm right there and I'm just going through a lot, trying to, you know, I'm about to be the big boss, you know what I'm saying? Like, I've gotten all these little making plays, you know, Say I've been punching.

50:45
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

50:45
TiaCorine
I've been knocking it. I've been knocking out going through the dark. And now I'm finally like. I'm like, you know, the COVID of Wizard of Oz. Whereas, like the yellow big road, she's probably out the woods and then like the. The green, the whole city's right there.

50:58
DJ Whippopatomus
Getting there.

50:58
TiaCorine
Yeah. I feel like that's where I'm at. But then like, I got one. Like the wizard is the. The big headed boss before I, you know, I gotta heard, I gotta go, you know, get down. So that's, you know, that's the. That's the vibe of the project. And so I just want everybody to be supportive of the process to me to get there.

51:17
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah, yeah. Facts.

51:18
TiaCorine
Yeah.

51:19
DJ Whippopatomus
Where can they. Where can they find you on social media?

51:22
TiaCorine
So you can find me on Instagram or Twitter. I have a discord.

51:26
DJ Whippopatomus
Oh, for real?

51:27
TiaCorine
Yeah, I have a discord where I put unreleased stuff in there and I like, show photos before I drive. Like, they get this first.

51:33
DJ Whippopatomus
Yeah.

51:33
TiaCorine
Dizz of everything. Or I'm like, y' all like this song or this song. So, yeah. Discord is where I get real personal. All of them are TiaCorine. So T I A C O R I N E. And you can just. I'm. Yeah, I'm gonna take talk too. So.

51:47
DJ Whippopatomus
Facts.

51:47
TiaCorine
Same thing.

51:47
DJ Whippopatomus
Music on all platforms, of course.

51:49
TiaCorine
Yeah, yeah, facts. Yep. SoundCloud, everything you already know. So, yeah, run it up.

51:57
DJ Whippopatomus
I appreciate you for coming on the show. It's been a long time coming.

52:01
TiaCorine
Of course. No, I. I appreciate you inviting me out here. This has been great.

52:05
DJ Whippopatomus
It is amazing, honestly.

52:07
TiaCorine
Yeah, no, this is great.

52:08
DJ Whippopatomus
That meet and greet was crazy, right? The fans show love.

52:12
TiaCorine
I didn't even know how to act. I was like, I hope I'm doing this right.

52:15
DJ Whippopatomus
