What you learned in this video:
- What NVIDIA PAIR (Personal AI Router) actually is and why it is free and open source
- The exact hardware bar (RTX 20-series or newer, Apple M4 or newer) that qualifies today with no purchase order
- The per-seat SaaS bill it replaces - Cursor, ChatGPT Team, GitHub Copilot Business - and the $23,040 three-year math for a 10-person office
- Why boutique AI consultants charging $10k+ to install a private LLM just lost the moat
- The one workflow to pilot this week before a competitor beats you to it

The audio edition of the Stewart Vickers AI YouTube channel. Each episode takes one AI release - a model, a tool, a price cut - and translates it into money for business owners: what got cheaper, who got undercut, and what to do about it this week. Operator credibility over theory, specific numbers over vibes. Every episode links the original video and the free Church of SEO Jesus community where the prompts and workflows live.
NVIDIA just shipped software that turns every gaming PC in your office into a free AI server. It is called PAIR. It went live this week. Here is the number that matters. A 10-person office running cursor, chat GPG team, and GitHub co-pilot business pays $640 every month for those three seats alone. Over three years, $23,040.
NVIDIA PAIR replaces the workhorse tier of that bill for zero recurring software cost. Zero. I know how it sounds. Another free AI thing that needs a data center rack and a PhD to install. Not this one. If your team has two or more machines with an RTX 20 series card or newer, you already qualify today.
No new hardware, no consultant, no purchase order. Let me show you what PAIR actually is, why the timing is a gift, and the one workflow I would pilot this week before a competitor beats you to it. And I will tell you which incumbent gets undercut first, because it is not who you think. PAIR stands for Personal AI Router. NVIDIA announced it at IFA on the 3rd of September. Free, open source, install it on the PCs already sitting in your office.
It finds the other PCs on your local itself. It sees the RTX cards inside them. It routes AI jobs to whichever machine has a free graphics card at that moment. The plain English version. Your designer's workstation is idle for the eight hours she is on client calls. Kevin's gaming rig under his desk does nothing between five and nine.
The founder's old machine in the corner runs a browser. PAIR treats all of that as one pool. When somebody asks the internal chatbot a question, the router picks whichever card is free and answers. It adapts as PCs join and leave. It plugs straight into Ollama and LM Studio, the two local Modal tools your developer already uses. Windows, Mac, Linux, graphical app, and a terminal.
The hardware bar is where this gets ridiculous. RTX 20 series or newer. A card from 2018. Any workstation you bought for design, video editing, or engineering in the last six qualifies. RTX Pro workstation cards. Apple M4 chips.
The DGX Spark bundle Nvidia ships in October if you want a purpose-built box, but you do not need it. Here is the headline answer to the question you clicked for. The PR seat SaaS bill for internal AI tools is what just got undercut. Cursor at $20 a seat. Chat GPG team at 25. Copilot business at 19.
Perplexity Pro across the whole team. Those are the workhorse subscriptions Nvidia PAIR replaces on the hardware you already own. If this channel is where you find out a $20 a seat bill just became optional, subscribe. I cover every local AI and Nvidia drop the day it ships, so the next one that subscription line finds you instead of you finding it on next month's invoice. Everything I ran to prove this video, the commands, the exact page links, the cost math, sits in the pinned comment below. And the Church of SEO Jesus, my free school community, is where the operators are already posting which workflows they moved off cursor this week and which ones they left on.
Link is in the description, free to join. Come and see the before you renew. Now the demo. I pulled the Nvidia announcement page live at build time, 200 status, 127 kilobytes back. I searched it for the exact phrase free open source and for the RTX 20 series line and for the LM studio wiring. All three landed on the same page.
Then I asked Claude Opus to compute the bill for a 10 person office. Running cursor plus chat GPG plus copilot business, $64 PR seat PR month, 640 a month, 7,680 a year, $23,040 across three years. Every one of those seat charges pays for compute that is now sitting warm and idle in your own office. Now the honest part. Frontier reasoning did not get replaced this week. If your team a hard legal question or a full code base refactor into chat GPG, GPG-5 and Claude Opus still beat a 30 billion parameter local Modal.
Nvidia knows it. Their own perplexity portable computer setup escalates to the cloud when the local Modal is not strong enough. What pair kills is the 90% of AI usage that is boilerplate. The rewrites, the summaries, the internal search over your own documents, the Slack replies, the code completions, the finance and HR paste-ins where you never wanted the data leaving the building anyway. Open the Nvidia blog post from September 3rd yourself right now. Scroll to the pair section, read the supported hardware line.
If you see RTX 20 series GPUs and newer, your office already qualifies. That is the proof, not me telling you who gets undercut first, not open AI, not anthropic. The people who just lost their moat are the boutique AI consultants charging $10,000 and up to install a private LLM on a dedicated server in a small business. The whole pitch just collapsed. A founder can install pair on Kevin's gaming rig on Thursday afternoon, pointed at a local Modal and match 90% of what the consultant was going to deliver in six weeks. Six weeks became one afternoon.
The consulting invoice was the moat. Nvidia removed it. And here is the part I love. More than half of American households already have two or more PCs, quoting Nvidia's own words. And most of that computing power sits idle all day, truer still in a small office. You already own the compute.
You are just renting it from someone else. Pair is the fix. What to actually do this week. Do not migrate the whole company. Pick one workflow, internal search over notion or Google drive meeting notes, summaries, first draft replies to customer support tickets, install Ollama on two RTX machines, install pair on top, run that one workflow on the pool for two weeks. Compare the answers to what your team was getting from the paid tool.
If it holds, cancel that line item. If it does not, you learned it for the price of an afternoon and you kept the subscription. Do not wait for the RTX spark bundle in October. Your existing hardware just became a business asset. The next video I am dropping is a full teardown of running a real local Modal against cursor on the same coding task with the wall clock and the electricity bill next to it. Same office hardware, same job.
See whether it holds up on real developer work.
