Kayla (Evandria):

Theater of the Mindset. Theater

Nick (Pat):

of the Last week on Can't Do Anything, the gang recovered from their long night out as the camp was abuzz with the news of the Kyle seance and the discovery of what happened to Cassius. Training began for the summer solstice celebration and the competition where the counselors will face off against their camp ex counterparts. Yanks told the gang about the being with red and gold eyes that gave his mother the power to bind their people. Bunky worked with Valentina to learn more about souls and studied the corrupted leystone with Gwendel. We pick up today with Mala and the rest of the team incoming with their downtime activities.

Evan (Mala):

I'm gonna go to the altar. Irmaal's gonna go to the altar and kneel down in front of it and ask Mirin for guidance, as he feels like he has fulfilled her first message to him to protect camp, but he feels like he's failed at the same time as to not protect the spirit tree, not protect the campers, and he wants to know what his next step is. She was able to protect the lighthouse and the people inside of it, that's how she was raised to godhood. And he wants to know how she he can do the same but for his the place he wants to protect.

Justin (DM):

Give me a religion check. 13. That's a pass. It is nighttime and the lighthouse altar. It's not like a large lighthouse.

Justin (DM):

It's not like a 20 foot building. It's just like a small lantern atop a stone altar next to the water, and the reflection of the starlight, the sky above you is making patterns on the water and the small waves. And in the times that you have prayed to Mirren, especially in places of power like this one, her methods for communicating to her followers have been pretty varied in your experience. And I think you pray for thirty, forty five minutes before you start to see the stars only in the reflection of the water begin to shift and move in a way more than the waves would allow them to. And eventually, they kind of coalesce into the silhouette of a dwarven face.

Evan (Mala):

I'll go full, like, prostrate onto the ground and just say, my lady.

Justin (DM):

You don't hear anything with your ears, but inside, you feel a connection and know that she is listening in this moment.

Evan (Mala):

I don't know what to do next. I am lost here.

Justin (DM):

The last time you spoke to Mirin, she gave you the unanswered prayer of protect me, which would eventually inspire your first oath. Where are you keeping that anywhere on your person or keeping anything that was like something that to remind you of that as you worked towards it in the past?

Evan (Mala):

It was the spirit tree leaf Mhmm. That I then placed back onto the spirit tree as like a I guess, not an oath to her, but just an oath in general that I would continue to protect it or restore it.

Justin (DM):

In this moment, I think you feel with your body laying down on the ground, warmth on your cheek, on one of the smooth river rocks that you're laying against. Again, she doesn't speak directly to you, but you recall last time having your attention drawn to that leaf that you kept in your pocket when she gave you the inspiration for the first prayer.

Evan (Mala):

I'll pick up the rock and maybe put it into the water, like, into the, like, the star alignment and see if anything changes.

Justin (DM):

When you put it underneath the water, the starlight catches it and words appear on the rock that say, inspire me. And you know that she has gifted you with a prayer from someone who needs inspiration and completing this will give you your words for your second oath.

Evan (Mala):

I'll take the rock and put it into my pocket while it's still dripping wet. Thank her for her wisdom and her guidance and that I look forward to serving her as a full Paladin someday.

Justin (DM):

You see in this moment above you, a shooting star goes across the sky, like a large shooting star.

Evan (Mala):

Does it go in a specific direction towards something or someone? It goes

Justin (DM):

towards camp do anything. It's like going It's like coming up from the horizon towards you actually, like towards camp.

Evan (Mala):

Okay. I will take that and I will put my hand in the water like I'm going to shake your hand and splash the

Justin (DM):

water around. As you splash the sparse the stars disperse No. It go away.

Evan (Mala):

I will give a very, like, exaggerated, not in an insulting way, but very respectful deep bow before I walk away from the the water.

Justin (DM):

And I think this interaction very much mirrors and resembles like the previous time that you were given this oath or given this oath inspiration rather. Okay.

Evan (Mala):

For my second downtime activity, I'm gonna take Mazzy and the other camp leaders words to heart and I'm going to put together better nighttime rotations and also take some lessons from my fellow counselors on just maybe like not being super attached to the rules all the time. And I'm gonna extend the nighttime, like, bedtime to a little bit later, especially for the older campers in a way to maybe get some of that adventurous spirit out of them before they go to bed. And that's gonna be my, like, camp coaching is like, oh, nighttime engagement. And it's like, we'll help you in the questing ritual.

Justin (DM):

Yep. I love that. Let's go ahead do you have a skill in mind?

Evan (Mala):

I do have cart or that one, no. That one, don't have a skill for. I have one for the next one, though.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. I would say for this one, let's go ahead and have you roll a perception check, because it's still maybe you're taking on this extra responsibility of monitoring them during this time. So let's have it be a perception check. Okay. Gotta beat a 10.

Evan (Mala):

13. Great.

Justin (DM):

That's pass.

Evan (Mala):

Back to back.

Justin (DM):

So because you passed by more than three, what that equates to

Evan (Mala):

No. That was a 10. That DC was 10. My first zone was a five.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. Sorry. You beat it by three. That moves up two people's, like, desire to accomplish their goal of working towards the questing ritual. You're welcome, everyone.

Nick (Pat):

Holler. You're welcome. Two down, 58 to go.

Justin (DM):

That moves them from the absolutely no chance to very unlikely.

Evan (Mala):

So I'm assuming every couple were above the DC for camp coaching gets us. Okay. Yep. My third one's also gonna be camp coaching and I have cartographer cartographer tools. Okay.

Evan (Mala):

So as part of that night regiment, I would like to go a step further and recruit myself and other people to lead them on like night excursions on how to navigate and survive in the wilds at night. I love that. And I wanna create like a

Kayla (Evandria):

Phantrya's immediately interested. Great.

Evan (Mala):

You can help me with this during your time too. We can both do it. But I wanna like institute like hiking paths and like basically like a teaching guide, but sort of a syllabus for like what to teach and how to teach it.

Justin (DM):

I love that. Go ahead and give me a survival check.

Evan (Mala):

So do I get anything because I have tools for it too?

Justin (DM):

You can use your proficiency and wisdom modifier. Because you your proficiency in card your proficient cartography tools? Yeah. Yeah. Then, yeah, you can use your proficiency and your wisdom towards this check.

Justin (DM):

And you're trying to beat a 15.

Evan (Mala):

I'm not religious, I made the sign of a cross. Shoot. I'm going to take a stress because I really want this to do well. That's in jail now. One more.

Nick (Pat):

Yeah. Two stress.

Evan (Mala):

I'm taking two stress.

Nick (Pat):

Get up to five.

Evan (Mala):

12? I'm not take I'm not taking a third stress.

Nick (Pat):

Five. Nope.

Justin (DM):

What's your total stress count right now?

Evan (Mala):

I think only two.

Justin (DM):

Okay.

Evan (Mala):

Because I had three, but we've had three rests since the last one. Yeah. No. I'm doing one more. I'm gonna

Nick (Pat):

take a third stress. Yeah.

Evan (Mala):

I'm doing it. Mala is is foolhardy and and stubborn. I don't know what to we're gonna go back. We're gonna go in a circle now. We're gonna bring that original dice.

Evan (Mala):

17.

Nick (Pat):

That's take it.

Justin (DM):

Cool. Do you want to move a previous person up one or do you wanna move a new person up from not no chance to very unlikely?

Evan (Mala):

How complicated is this site? What what?

Justin (DM):

I have We have to get 60 campers here. We only need to get them on a one to six six scale, and every time you pass by the number you pass, I move it up one on the tracker. For that many times? Every time, how it'll work is I'll roll a d six, and if you If I get one of the numbers that they are like at, then they'll do the questing ritual. So theoretically, these people could go on their questing ritual.

Justin (DM):

It's just very unlikely.

Evan (Mala):

This is a mini game within a mini game It is. Game.

Justin (DM):

It is.

Jamie (Eleanore):

But we have to get the 30 to pass the questing ritual. Yes. So, okay.

Evan (Mala):

Yep. So, what were my options? How many two?

Justin (DM):

Do you want to increase someone that's just kinda on the very unlikely, or do you wanna move someone into very unlikely?

Evan (Mala):

Only one?

Justin (DM):

Yeah. Because you didn't beat it by more than three.

Evan (Mala):

I'll just move one from nothing to very unlikely.

Kayla (Evandria):

The first thing that she does is Pat has this shush routine, and morning training that he does with Patrick. She plans to in order to teach the campers about being stealthy and attacking, attacking in stealth, They, each morning now, will sneak starting from the north most point where, the Evergreen Center is, the the center that she runs. They're going to go sneak along the brush all the way down to the pits and then attack. And hopefully, they were stealthy enough in order to catch Pat and Patrick off guard.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. I love that. Go ahead and give me a stealth for your camp coaching. Coaching.

Kayla (Evandria):

21.

Justin (DM):

Wow. Yeah. You crushed that. So you beat it by 17? 16?

Kayla (Evandria):

Yes. 16.

Justin (DM):

So that is six boxes in total. Woo. Do you wanna spread that around? Do you wanna spread that around?

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. One to each.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. Cool. And I'm gonna specifically go down here to lean two to make sure that Lean2 is one of the people that gets What's Lean2's actual name? Melina or something? Melina.

Justin (DM):

Melina. Goes by Lina. Well, did previously. Until

Nick (Pat):

She might until Until Andrea names.

Justin (DM):

Oh, I already did her earlier. So we'll just go to this room. Okay. Alright. That's your first?

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. And then for her next one, she is going to stop by Hearth Hall to visit with Analor and prep some of the food for the upcoming festivities and celebration. But with an ulterior motive in mind, she's going to maybe, hopefully, learn a little bit about making food because she plans to have a picnic with her new love interest. So she wants to make sure the food is up to snuff.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. Great. So this is gonna use cooking tools. Are you proficient in cooking tools?

Kayla (Evandria):

Absolutely not.

Justin (DM):

Don't worry. Under no circumstance is Anna Lord gonna let young love go without aid. She's gonna give you the bless, so you could add a d four to this role. Great. Go ahead and it's a wisdom check.

Nick (Pat):

Okay. Our ranger

Justin (DM):

There's a lot of Analor doing this for you.

Kayla (Evandria):

Ranger has the really helpful and Evandria's Evandria's very happy for the extra guidance. It's not something she gets from her mother, so

Justin (DM):

You just gotta beat a 10.

Kayla (Evandria):

Okay. So, nat 20.

Nick (Pat):

Incredible. That's incredible.

Kayla (Evandria):

Plus two, so 22.

Justin (DM):

Nice. That's great. So

Jamie (Eleanore):

And how you get pregnant even though?

Justin (DM):

Is you are immune to fear, you have resistance against poison, and you gain fine five temporary hit points. Alright. What are you gonna do for your 15?

Kayla (Evandria):

And so now that she knows how to properly prep food, she's going to prepare her picnic basket and go to X camp after having sent a letter ahead of time formally inviting Tamara to a picnic. She's going to head head that direction.

Justin (DM):

This is absolutely gonna be a scene. You arrive tell me where you want this picnic to take place.

Kayla (Evandria):

We're gonna meet on the river. It's gonna be

Nick (Pat):

a Yeah.

Kayla (Evandria):

It's gonna be a canoe style picnic.

Nick (Pat):

Oh my gosh. Can I drive a gondola? Yeah. In the water. And I'm just like in.

Kayla (Evandria):

No. Evandria has went ahead and she asked Bunky ahead of time to maybe throw up some some minor sparkles in in the in the banks nearby. And and she's she's asked Eleanor to maybe guide the canoe so she doesn't have to worry about that portion because she just wants a nice chitchat

Justin (DM):

Yeah.

Kayla (Evandria):

With her with her good friend.

Justin (DM):

I think you get all this set up.

Kayla (Evandria):

With her g f, good friend.

Justin (DM):

You get all this set up and she's a little late. Like, you're there ten minutes.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, that's okay.

Justin (DM):

And Tamara

Kayla (Evandria):

is been there for two hours. So

Justin (DM):

Okay. Well, what time did you wanna meet?

Kayla (Evandria):

It was a 5PM picnic.

Justin (DM):

05:10 comes along.

Nick (Pat):

A nice early dinner picnic.

Justin (DM):

And eventually, you hear Tamara come through the woods, and she has a pack on her shoulder. She's wearing her ex camp she's not wearing her ex camp gear. She has, like, changed into casual clothes. It's like a black tank top with, like, long black leggings, like athleisure wear.

Kayla (Evandria):

She loves me.

Justin (DM):

You her left arm is bandaged, and she has kind of put her hair up, I think, in a way that you haven't seen yet, and she has put like small gold not earrings, but, like, small gold decorations on her horns. That is, like, the extra effort that she has gone to in this moment. And she says, hey, Evandria. I had some troubles finding the spot. I don't I don't usually get coordinates on invites.

Justin (DM):

Is Yes. That

Kayla (Evandria):

I felt that would be nice.

Justin (DM):

It's very specific.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yes. Nice goldness. You're wearing nice gold. It's beautiful. You're beautiful.

Justin (DM):

Oh, thank Oh my gosh. Thank you. Hello. Is Did you did you Hell hello?

Nick (Pat):

This is a nat 20?

Justin (DM):

You This was her in real life. You Did you Is that is that is that a picnic basket?

Nick (Pat):

Yes.

Kayla (Evandria):

I thought we could have some food Oh. Together.

Justin (DM):

I'm glad you brought food because I did too, but and she kind of takes her bag down and opens up, and they're just like these cucumber sandwiches that have been smooshed in her bag. And she says, I did make these. I didn't know what the plan was. Again, your invite just says, hope to see you soon, and then has coordinates and a time. But I made these cucumber sandwiches, and they kinda got messed up on the way here.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, well, that's okay. As as I once heard Mazzy say is that it still tastes the same. Right?

Justin (DM):

Yeah. She does say that a lot. Yeah. Like about things that

Kayla (Evandria):

Almost like every time she eats her smushed food she keeps in her pocket.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. Like her she calls them her paninis and her capresees.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. It's so funny.

Justin (DM):

She's funny. Wow. Do you Are we are we also going on a canoe?

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, yeah. I organized a gondola ride of sorts if if you'd if you'd like that.

Justin (DM):

I would love that.

Kayla (Evandria):

Okay.

Justin (DM):

I love watching the sunset.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, okay. Great. Yes.

Justin (DM):

The sunset's not happening for four hours.

Nick (Pat):

But it's Yeah. Silver. But

Kayla (Evandria):

I'm sure at some point, the sun will set.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. I think that sounds And we

Kayla (Evandria):

may or may not be around Okay. See

Justin (DM):

You all kind of make your way. Does Eleanor push the gun if we could do all? Like, okay. Great. He swims by tossing his arm up.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, wow.

Nick (Pat):

It's it's

Justin (DM):

You guys are really going on. It You'd think Bunky would be like working with campers or something. Oh,

Kayla (Evandria):

I He has a lot on his mind right now.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. I saw him stop by Valentina's. What was that about?

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. I think he's working with her. You would know She's a thing or two about that.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. She's a genius.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah.

Justin (DM):

She's helping me take like, prepare for wizarding classes.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, wow. So she does so she does quite a bit in her free time.

Justin (DM):

Oh, I don't know if she has any free time.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, okay. All booked up with meetings?

Justin (DM):

Absolutely. Her schedule's she has Becky. You might have heard of Becky.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, I've heard of Becky.

Justin (DM):

She's actually not Valentina's assistant. She's just like the admin assistant of all x camp.

Nick (Pat):

But But like

Justin (DM):

Valentina, like, uses her more than anyone else.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. I would have guessed that Becky was totally a Valentina.

Justin (DM):

Same. Same. It's a really common misconception.

Kayla (Evandria):

Interesting. Well, what happened to you? And she like reaches out and like brushes

Justin (DM):

She pulls her arm back.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, I'm sorry.

Justin (DM):

I I Give me a persuasion check.

Nick (Pat):

With advantage from a net

Justin (DM):

20? Yeah. You have an advantage. Got you. You can have advantage from having gotten a net 20 on your relationship.

Kayla (Evandria):

14.

Justin (DM):

She kind of pulls back and

Kayla (Evandria):

advantage? That's not right. It's I rolled twice.

Nick (Pat):

Yeah. Okay.

Justin (DM):

And take the higher option.

Kayla (Evandria):

17.

Justin (DM):

Okay. She first pulls back and then kind of takes a breath and says, I guess in a way, could say I had like a bit of a training accident. Sometimes sometimes magic is hard. Like really hard.

Kayla (Evandria):

Hard? Like you'll get the spell wrong and set yourself on fire? I've always been afraid of that.

Justin (DM):

Setting myself on fire is not really the problem.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh. Oh. Like, putting the fire out?

Justin (DM):

Takes her bandage off, and her arm is not, burned in any way, but clearly has, like, a, like, red rash of some sort. Then she says, I I really want to be a wizard. I really I've been working really hard. I wanna go to the to Venator University and train to become a wizard. But I sometimes can find sources of magic that are a little bit easier than all the studying required for arcane casting.

Kayla (Evandria):

And that's your preferred method?

Justin (DM):

Not anymore. That's what I'm working with Valentina on.

Kayla (Evandria):

Is not using?

Justin (DM):

Is not using my my family gosh. This is a lot. My family has an association with a devil named Azriel. Please don't freak out. It's not really that big.

Justin (DM):

It's it's honestly, it's not as bad as it sounds. A long time ago, an ancestor of mine made a deal with the devil for revenge, and the cost was one person in every generation is bound to service. But it's not it's really not that bad.

Kayla (Evandria):

To Asriel?

Justin (DM):

Asriel is mostly It's not that bad. I promise.

Kayla (Evandria):

Your service isn't bad? What do you have to do?

Justin (DM):

Azriel is a fallen angel. They are

Kayla (Evandria):

Her eyes are getting bigger and bigger.

Justin (DM):

Azriel thinks that there is nothing that shouldn't be done to take out evil. And so that's what my family does. We work really hard to take out evil.

Kayla (Evandria):

My my aunt was a fallen one. See? I I understand. Asimar It's not your fault.

Justin (DM):

Exactly. Azimar are like just like a a branch of the same tree. Honestly, I've never had anyone kind of take this information so well.

Kayla (Evandria):

I think if there's one thing my mom always says, it's you're only as beautiful as what you can control.

Justin (DM):

That's with the poster where she's like like riding a horse. Right?

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. Riding a horse, but she's standing on it while she's riding it

Nick (Pat):

Yeah.

Kayla (Evandria):

To like, she said it was to show the extra power. Yeah. I don't know. I think that's one of the ones I don't know if you knew this, but Bunky has a couple posters of her.

Justin (DM):

Evandrea, why do you think I would know that?

Kayla (Evandria):

Well, I don't know. He he told us right when we saw him pretty much.

Nick (Pat):

So

Justin (DM):

I guess things I missed out on by not being on Camp Do Anything staff.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. I'm sad that you're not here anymore. Yeah. I feel like it's, you know

Justin (DM):

Working with Valentina though is is a step in the right direction to breaking this family's curse. My family's

Kayla (Evandria):

of the the spell of That's my hope. Israel?

Justin (DM):

Yeah. That's my hope.

Kayla (Evandria):

Wow. I didn't know it was that complicated for you. I'm sorry.

Justin (DM):

It's it's really not that bad. I mean

Kayla (Evandria):

So is that what happened to your arm then?

Justin (DM):

It's easier. Yes. I we were doing duels, and I fell a little behind, and I decided to tap into my more eldritch. Trade? Yeah.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. You see her hold up her burnt arm, and she takes her right index finger and kind of pulls it down the length of her arm, and where her finger touches almost like a matchstick catches on fire with this dark purple flame. And on her arm where she touched, the redness is a little bit deeper.

Kayla (Evandria):

Don't do that.

Justin (DM):

It it doesn't hurt. It's really not it's really not that bad.

Kayla (Evandria):

You just made it worse.

Justin (DM):

No. No. No.

Kayla (Evandria):

No. It just got redder. It just got more red.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. But it's fine.

Kayla (Evandria):

Got less skin and more red.

Justin (DM):

It's fine. It's fine. And she just kinda shows you the purple flame that she's able to conjure.

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, wow.

Nick (Pat):

It's That's

Justin (DM):

But it's easy. I don't have to I didn't have to study at all.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah.

Justin (DM):

I mean, I've spent hours But trying to learn just the message spell, like truly hours and it's a cantrip.

Kayla (Evandria):

I don't know. I I don't I don't like magic.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. Well, I didn't really get much of a choice.

Kayla (Evandria):

I say that, but I do some anyway.

Justin (DM):

What do you do?

Kayla (Evandria):

The magic I do? Yeah. Well, sometimes you know, Yank's your braid. Right?

Justin (DM):

The little sprite that you have kind of around you all the time?

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes, we work together in battle and I'm not really sure how it happens.

Justin (DM):

He's a Fae. Well, yeah. I assume you've like bonded him in some way?

Kayla (Evandria):

Well, I I did make a deal with him. Binding pact

Justin (DM):

Oh.

Kayla (Evandria):

Of sorts. Well So

Justin (DM):

Seems like a bond to

Nick (Pat):

me. Yeah.

Kayla (Evandria):

Anyways, I asked Annalor what your favorite food was so so we could so so we could eat if you want.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. I'm starving, actually.

Kayla (Evandria):

She opens the little package that she'd prepared.

Justin (DM):

Wow. Those haven't been squashed at all.

Kayla (Evandria):

Anilor helped me. They would have been squashed.

Justin (DM):

I don't think so. Probably not.

Evan (Mala):

That's

Justin (DM):

true. Great. And the next few hours go by quite well. I think you neither of you are aware of the time you spent out on that canoe. About an hour

Nick (Pat):

and a half into this journey, I yell, come about, and I turn it around and start dragging them back the other way.

Kayla (Evandria):

Already? Eleanor. I mean, have another hour and a half. Okay.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Good. Pretend I'm not here.

Kayla (Evandria):

I'm sorry.

Nick (Pat):

Sorry. Definitely didn't see fire coming out

Justin (DM):

of her arm

Nick (Pat):

or know that she's in league with the angel of death. Well, thank

Kayla (Evandria):

you for coming out.

Justin (DM):

Thanks for inviting me.

Kayla (Evandria):

Maybe we could do this again sometime.

Justin (DM):

I would like that. Maybe next time, I'll pick the coordinates.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Oh. Okay.

Kayla (Evandria):

Well, that'd be fun. Sorry. That'd be a fun game. Anyways, I'll see you around. And she turns around and she walks away.

Nick (Pat):

Great.

Jamie (Eleanore):

That's and then I stand I'm like Tamara, that's the warmest I've ever seen her leave a conversation.

Justin (DM):

I think she's always been really nice. Bye. Bye. Great.

Kayla (Evandria):

Okay. And so, for her next downtime

Nick (Pat):

Hell of a nat 20.

Kayla (Evandria):

She would like to throw a soiree.

Justin (DM):

Okay.

Kayla (Evandria):

Kind of like the one she did last time where she invites everybody to her cabin.

Justin (DM):

Okay.

Kayla (Evandria):

And this is more of a she wants to invite specific campers who she knows have higher potential of passing Okay. To kinda get to know the rest of us a little more.

Nick (Pat):

Okay.

Kayla (Evandria):

Because she thought it might help with their bonding. So I guess maybe camp coaching? Yeah. But it would be like with the group of us.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. I will let you have advantage to kinda represent the group effort.

Kayla (Evandria):

Okay.

Justin (DM):

And you can use persuasion.

Kayla (Evandria):

Seven.

Justin (DM):

That's a fail.

Kayla (Evandria):

Well, this soiree is pretty important. So she's gonna get a little stressed out planning it.

Justin (DM):

K.

Kayla (Evandria):

Do I still get advantage?

Nick (Pat):

Yeah.

Kayla (Evandria):

Okay. 17.

Justin (DM):

Still a fail.

Kayla (Evandria):

So she's gonna get even more stressed.

Justin (DM):

K.

Kayla (Evandria):

This soiree is incredibly important to her because she doesn't throw a party and then not follow through. Oh, thanks.

Justin (DM):

K.

Kayla (Evandria):

There's a 20. Of the natural kind? No.

Nick (Pat):

Oh, okay.

Justin (DM):

Nope. Oh, okay.

Kayla (Evandria):

Of the 19 variety.

Justin (DM):

Okay. That'll move another camper up. Oh. Up Up one.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yay, guys. I took two strikes for that.

Justin (DM):

Worth it. Do you wanna move someone that's already on the track or do you wanna move

Kayla (Evandria):

somebody who is already showing high potential. So I think

Evan (Mala):

choosing

Justin (DM):

Lena.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yay, Lena.

Nick (Pat):

She's now

Justin (DM):

considering it. Oh. She's moved from very unlikely to considering.

Kayla (Evandria):

Then dud.

Justin (DM):

She's the most determined camper right now.

Evan (Mala):

I'm not gonna give you any more shit, Justin, but the math on this is not favoring us at all.

Justin (DM):

I got your back. It'll be fine.

Nick (Pat):

It'll be fine.

Kayla (Evandria):

Then, her last down downtime, And she is going to train some more campers by going on another run to the pits. This time, implementing trees in the hopes that she can teach them some acrobatic skills while she's at it.

Justin (DM):

Absolutely.

Kayla (Evandria):

Okay.

Justin (DM):

Gotta be to 25.

Kayla (Evandria):

That does not beat a 25.

Justin (DM):

Okay. You gotta be

Kayla (Evandria):

to more quarantine.

Justin (DM):

You're gonna take three stress in one She only took two.

Kayla (Evandria):

Right? I only took two so far. K.

Justin (DM):

I'm saying

Nick (Pat):

a lot of stress.

Evan (Mala):

She's a pretty

Justin (DM):

stress free person generally. I

Kayla (Evandria):

I don't think I can because even if I do, it'll be exactly 25. So it doesn't the payoff.

Evan (Mala):

Now remember, it fills a full

Kayla (Evandria):

Oh, if I get

Evan (Mala):

If you get a nat 20,

Kayla (Evandria):

it fills a I know. Full But what is it? One in twenty?

Evan (Mala):

5% chance.

Kayla (Evandria):

Is that why?

Evan (Mala):

I have I have all the math of how many successful rolls we need on average based on a plus five modifier to get this.

Kayla (Evandria):

Do I need to do it then?

Evan (Mala):

With the 5% net 20

Justin (DM):

I got your back. It'll be fine.

Nick (Pat):

Okay. It'll

Jamie (Eleanore):

be I don't think you should take the stress.

Kayla (Evandria):

She's she's decided she sent out soiree cancellations. Or wait. No. She did the soiree. Yeah.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. Yeah.

Justin (DM):

You can still

Nick (Pat):

do that.

Justin (DM):

It just didn't get anyone Oh. Yeah.

Kayla (Evandria):

Yeah. So Yeah. The acrobatics didn't fly with most of the campers.

Justin (DM):

They tried though. Can we do acrobatics lower to the ground in the future of Andrea?

Kayla (Evandria):

I shall consider it.

Justin (DM):

Thank you.

Kayla (Evandria):

She says, as she sharpens her teeth with her family crested letter opener.

Justin (DM):

Good god. Alright. Let's do Eleanor.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Eleanor has put together a scavenger hunt for a bunch of the kids and they have to solve riddles to get to clues that will lead them to an area that something is in Mhmm. In the woods. But, they have to work on their perception skills and their investigation abilities to locate it, specifically once they're in the right area. And then it's locked. So then, they have to pick up the lock to open it as well.

Justin (DM):

Yeah.

Jamie (Eleanore):

And, figure out what's inside.

Justin (DM):

Great. You can give me an investigation or perception. Gotta be a five.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Investigation. 17.

Justin (DM):

So, beat it by twelve, so that's four boxes. New new new folks?

Jamie (Eleanore):

Yeah. Alright. Alright. Then, for her next downtime activity, Eleanor wants to go speak to Wendell.

Justin (DM):

K. As a like, for what purpose?

Jamie (Eleanore):

She wants to discuss the forget me nots. I also wanna discuss the creature. Well, that would have to be two different.

Justin (DM):

If you just wanna do like a mystery check.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Okay.

Justin (DM):

By creature, do you mean the thing that The Yanks saw?

Jamie (Eleanore):

Yeah.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. We'll do the mystery check. You wanna do the forget me nots and so I would accept a investigation or a Arcana or a nature. Gotta be a 10. K?

Jamie (Eleanore):

Oh. 21.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. You crushed it. Wendell's shocked that you have these forget me nots, and is secondly shocked that you are fine carrying them. And he says, that's that's quite quite rare to to see. And he grabs a book and kinda starts pouring through it and eventually comes to the conclusion, I think that it it people who have studied the forget me nuts have found that over time, exposure to concentrated forms of the plant can give you immunity.

Justin (DM):

Eleanor, have you do you have a history with forget me nots?

Jamie (Eleanore):

Not that I know of. Do I?

Justin (DM):

If you're not aware are you I mean, do you have any, like, missing holes in your memory? Or Oh,

Jamie (Eleanore):

absolutely.

Nick (Pat):

Oh, well.

Jamie (Eleanore):

What? But if I'm immune to them, they wouldn't have caused it. Right?

Justin (DM):

Not if they aren't. What caused the immunity? What is the if you don't mind me asking

Jamie (Eleanore):

What's the thing I forgot?

Justin (DM):

What is the thing that you think you forgot?

Jamie (Eleanore):

I don't know. It's something it's something dark. Every once in a while, something will happen and it'll give me chills. And it's like, you know, waking up from a dream and I can't quite hold on to what I had been dreaming about.

Justin (DM):

Well, I think there's a pretty obvious hole in your past that I think might have something to do with these forget me nots.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Is there something we could work on to manipulate these to to bring my memory back?

Justin (DM):

I think that we could give it a good try. I'm happy to help.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Is that something that's possible? Do you do that with other ingredients? Can you use something reverse the effects?

Justin (DM):

Having the forget me nuts is a good start. I have a couple of other components I think might be able to The modify memory spell is dangerous, but I'm not unfamiliar with it. And could you use the forget me nots to potentially help start bridging some gaps again? The way the forget me nots work is they kind of the memory is still there, but it's kind of cut off that portion of your mind from it. That's why I think Bunky's reaction was so severe.

Justin (DM):

Bunky doesn't function like us, and cutting off a part of him made his whole self shut down.

Jamie (Eleanore):

But is this something if we figured out for me, we could figure it out for him? Could that just do more damage if he doesn't work like we do?

Justin (DM):

He doesn't work like we do. I think my primary focus I would like to start with you, Potentially take down some of the walls that are barring you from this memory that you have. Eleanor, I think that if your mother is keeping what happened to all of the adult male centaurs in your eminence from you. There's probably a good reason. You sure this is something you wanna go through with?

Jamie (Eleanore):

Yeah. I think I'm old enough. And if I'm gonna follow the path I wanna follow, I need to know.

Justin (DM):

I'm happy to help you in any way that I can.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Thank you.

Justin (DM):

That will be a different down the other thing was the monster. Oh, yeah. The thing.

Jamie (Eleanore):

And that'll be a different?

Justin (DM):

No. I'll I'll the monster can be the same check, but the finding out the memory will be a different

Jamie (Eleanore):

Another thing I wanted to talk to you about was, Yanks was mentioning when when he lived at that pond that we got him from with his family, he he saw his mom and and Lord Farsey speaking to some creature in the woods, and all he could see was a deep shadow with red eyes. That reminded me of a bird I once saw. Does that sound familiar to you?

Justin (DM):

Not a ton of information. We can definitely do some research. Did he give any type of hint as to the relationship between the two?

Jamie (Eleanore):

It was a magic user, and it was he thinks it was showing them magic. Do

Justin (DM):

you know what the magic accomplished?

Jamie (Eleanore):

I don't, but he recently told us about his mother being part of magic to and Lord Farsey using magic to basically imprison everybody at that pond.

Justin (DM):

Oh, binding magic is quite powerful. If whatever this creature was gave the Duchess of Carrots and Lord Farsee the ability to bind their people.

Jamie (Eleanore):

And that's where the lay stone was, you know?

Justin (DM):

Almost like in exchange for guarding the lay stone, they got to be in charge of their own people. Quite nefarious.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Does that creature sound familiar?

Justin (DM):

A number of creatures whatever creature it is is quite powerful magically. And if it if it's the same creature, I would be curious where the if we connect the dots, and you see he opens up his, notebook and starts connecting and adding to facts that they know about whatever this is. So you see he writes, can cast magic jar, cast some alacrum, taught binding magic to other creatures, to lord Farsee and the, duchess of Carrots. He's starting to kind of connect some dots. If we know that they cast

Jamie (Eleanore):

Oh, it had red gold eyes. Does that Oh.

Justin (DM):

That is intriguing information. Red eyes are can be a little bit more common than red and gold eyes. What what did you get on your check again? I guess 17?

Jamie (Eleanore):

I think a 17. Yeah. Yeah. Because I rolled a

Justin (DM):

You and he spend a couple of hours pouring through some books, and eventually you come across a story of a creature called Goody Fatesbane. Goody Ophira Fatesbane. She is a hag. She is known You see a picture of her. She When you think of hags, think of probably like typically like ugly creatures.

Justin (DM):

Hags are attracted to ugliness like we might be attracted to beauty. Mhmm. The more ugly they are, the better they think things are. She doesn't seem to follow that tune. She is herself not quite, nothing jumps out about her appearance as beautiful in the illustration contained in the book.

Justin (DM):

But she is covering herself in gold earrings, in red vestments that look quite nice. She seems to be like covering herself up in a lot of ways with makeup and her eyes glint with a red and gold illustration on them.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Do I do we know what kind of hag?

Justin (DM):

She is called she her name is Goody Ophira Fatesbane, and she is a I don't think this book illustrates what kind of what hag she is, but the things that it says are she is a hag without a coven because she manipulates and drains the luck from everything around her. And so other hags will not associate with her because she will just inherently make them less lucky.

Jamie (Eleanore):

And she's still alive?

Justin (DM):

Her whereabouts are unknown.

Jamie (Eleanore):

What does the book what

Nick (Pat):

does

Jamie (Eleanore):

the book say about, like, where she was last seen or what where she normally

Justin (DM):

This book seems to be more about, like, less about a like monster hunting book and more of just a monster information book or creature information book. With a 17, I don't think it has any information about her whereabouts. Just an illustration, a comment about her predilection for siphoning the luck away from others and her lack of association with other hags.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Can I take this book with me?

Justin (DM):

Oh, by all means.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Thank you.

Justin (DM):

Check it out first.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Okay. That'll be mine.

Justin (DM):

That was just your 10? Do you wanna do something for your 15?

Jamie (Eleanore):

Yes. I'll do more with the kids.

Nick (Pat):

Okay. Do I

Jamie (Eleanore):

have to say what I do?

Justin (DM):

Just so that I know what check to make you roll?

Jamie (Eleanore):

I give them all little tokens. Different things I found in the craft cabin, like little about the size of like monopoly pieces. And I give all the kids those and then I challenge them to, at some point, over the course of the two or three days, sneak them into my rucksack or one of the bag sets that I have on me. And, yeah. To see if they can successfully do it, just to practice like their

Justin (DM):

Sleight of hand?

Jamie (Eleanore):

Yeah. Sleight of hand

Justin (DM):

Give me a slight of hand check. Gotta be at fifteen.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Five. I'll take a stress. Natural 20.

Justin (DM):

Great. I will

Jamie (Eleanore):

So twenty three.

Justin (DM):

Crank. I'll do one of the drow.

Nick (Pat):

Yeah.

Justin (DM):

Taric, Cloak Eyed, was very inspired by this. He's like very glad to be getting like hands on rogue training and really takes to sleight of hand. And I think at one point, after he not only successfully takes the tokens from your bag, but also everything else from your bag.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Oh, they were putting them in my bag, so then he also took others out.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. He has been taking other people's out. Mhmm. That he is like ready to go for the for the questing ritual.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Hell, yeah. That's great. And then, I may as well try another one. I will do costumes.

Justin (DM):

Cool. You gotta be at twenty five. And costumes Twenty. Sorry. Is it just what?

Justin (DM):

Oh, yeah. Costumes is Weaver's Tools and use Dexterity. Are you proficient in Weaver's Tools? No. Right.

Justin (DM):

So, it's just a Dexterity modifier.

Jamie (Eleanore):

But, I do have a disguise kit. Does that do anything for you?

Justin (DM):

I will accept disguise kittens that have weaver's tools.

Nick (Pat):

Nice. What what does that mean for

Justin (DM):

my role? You get to add your plus two and your dexterity modifier.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Okay. Definitely Yeah. I'll take a stress. 20. Because I have a plus seven.

Justin (DM):

Great. So, we'll move someone else up one.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Wait. No. That was for costumes.

Justin (DM):

Oh, sorry. You're right.

Jamie (Eleanore):

So, I get to do an advantage on either performance, stealth, or athletics checks Yes. During the competition. Yep.

Nick (Pat):

Okay.

Justin (DM):

Great. Alright. And last but not least. Sorry, did you wanna do a 25?

Nick (Pat):

Nope. Okay. Alright. Pat? Pat's gonna shush.

Jamie (Eleanore):

Oh, great. Yeah.

Nick (Pat):

Pat's gonna shush. Camper ritual prep. Great. What's that? Athletics?

Nick (Pat):

Five.

Justin (DM):

Yeah. You can do athletics.

Nick (Pat):

That'll be a 24.

Justin (DM):

Oh. So, we'll beat it by 19. That gets us We love a plus five

Nick (Pat):

and we love doing it first.

Justin (DM):

Seven pips. This will include a Kyle. Are you okay with that?

Nick (Pat):

It's fine. Kyle's got a Kyle. I yelled at Kyle on the dune buggy about questing rituals. So

Justin (DM):

It's Kyle k y l e. Who is

Jamie (Eleanore):

Is he the one that got stabbed?

Nick (Pat):

Is there

Justin (DM):

k I a l? No. The other one is k e y e l l and then the other one is k y e l l e. No apostrophes. No.

Justin (DM):

No. I'm pretty

Evan (Mala):

sure that one's Kyle.

Nick (Pat):

And then, Pat's gonna head back in a couple evenings during the downtime back to the forge to work on the his great sword.

Justin (DM):

Give me a Oh. Do you have Smith's Tools? God damn right, I do. Great. Go ahead and roll me Smith tools.

Justin (DM):

So many goddamn tools. This is a skills development, I assume.

Nick (Pat):

Yeah. I think so. That's another 19. So it's a 21. Great.

Nick (Pat):

That's These later rolls are gonna be dog shit. Thanks for your dice, Eric. And then, number three, I'm gonna do canoes.

Justin (DM):

Okay. Is Pat's

Nick (Pat):

gonna build some canoes.

Evan (Mala):

Wait. Are you using my dice or Eric's dice? This one is Eric's

Nick (Pat):

and then I have yours as well.

Justin (DM):

Don't use it. Wood carver's tools? I do. Great.

Nick (Pat):

I have vehicle proficiency smiths and wood carvers.

Justin (DM):

Great. That will be That's

Nick (Pat):

you'd be a human. Yeah. Gotta be a 15. 15 on the die. Great.

Nick (Pat):

Plus two dex plus two proficiency.

Justin (DM):

And then we are at 20.

Nick (Pat):

So I'm gonna do more training for the children. Okay. So morning runs, Pat's gonna take a handful of campers out and by like the fourth day, everyone has like paint balloons in a backpack and as soon as we see Avandria, we're just going to like stop Aunt Pelt Great. Whoever is with Avandria

Justin (DM):

Yeah.

Nick (Pat):

Mid mid run.

Justin (DM):

Give me an athletics.

Nick (Pat):

That's not as good. That's just a 12, but I'm going to take a stress. K. No. Human inspiration.

Nick (Pat):

K. Please? Thanks. That's an 18 on the die. Great.

Nick (Pat):

Is that plus strength?

Justin (DM):

Yes. Strength.

Nick (Pat):

So that's a 21. Okay. So just one pip.

Justin (DM):

Pip's a pip.

Nick (Pat):

Pip's a pip. Inch by inch. Just blasting through down the path.

Justin (DM):

Let's move up Penny Thistle Whip.

Nick (Pat):

Okay. Pat's busy. And then, for twenty five, Pat's gonna call home. Alright. Pat's gonna call home with his negative one charisma, negative one wisdom and zero intelligence.

Justin (DM):

Give me a persuasion check.

Evan (Mala):

Crit. Crit. Crit.

Nick (Pat):

13. 12. K. Let's take stress.

Justin (DM):

K.

Nick (Pat):

Why not? Crit. Just a crit. It's an eleven.

Justin (DM):

You are in your cabin. You get on the phone. There's a ringing till eventually you hear your mom pick up.

Nick (Pat):

Oh, hello. Oh, hey, mom. It's Pat.

Justin (DM):

Oh. Oh, Pat. Oh, it's so good to hear from you.

Nick (Pat):

Oh, yeah.

Justin (DM):

We were just talking about you, me and your dad.

Nick (Pat):

Oh, what about? Well, let me go get him. I think he'll want to hear from you. Hold on here just a minute.

Justin (DM):

Hear some shuffling around until finally hello. Oh, Pat, can you

Nick (Pat):

hear me? Hey, Pat. Yeah, dad, I can

Justin (DM):

hear you. All good. How's it going over there?

Nick (Pat):

Pull it away from your face a little. Okay. Yep. I can use your microphone. You can be a little farther away.

Nick (Pat):

Okay. How's it going? It's honestly going really well. Lot of campers. Poly seems to be doing well.

Nick (Pat):

Oh, good. We're so proud of him. Yeah. He's doing great. I mean, camp was a little messy, you know, prep with the big storm, but I think we're back on Oh, you had

Justin (DM):

a big storm come through? Yeah. There was

Nick (Pat):

a big storm, some wind dragons, and some other stuff. Oh, my goodness. Yeah. The spirit tree kinda got a little split and yeah. You haven't heard about any of this?

Justin (DM):

Oh, no. We've been real busy with the store and

Nick (Pat):

all. Sure. Sure.

Justin (DM):

We got we got some big news, actually.

Nick (Pat):

Oh? Yeah. What's what's that?

Justin (DM):

Well, we're we just finalized some new business. Oh. And, you know, we were thinking about we're we have we have a new sponsorship. Oh, no kidding. Yeah.

Nick (Pat):

What's that? We're well Are you guys well, we didn't I mean, I know we can't do anything. We couldn't afford it this year, but typically, were there. But who else what's it's like his brain firing and stressed. Well,

Justin (DM):

Overland Outfitters is officially a sponsor for X Camp Stealth Shawl. This is big for us. This is a big this is a big sponsorship we've landed. And I know I know. Listen.

Justin (DM):

Your dad and I did some talking. Alright? And we think we've been a little unfair about you wanting to be an adventurer, Pat. We think we don't you you can't make someone do something. You can't make someone do something they don't wanna do.

Justin (DM):

And so as a part of the sponsorship, we got you a seat at X Camp. What? Yeah. As a part of the sponsorship. To do what?

Justin (DM):

To go be one of their staff members. Why? What? One of theirs

Nick (Pat):

Why would I do that? I have a job.

Justin (DM):

All the all the best adventurers go to x camp.

Nick (Pat):

Where did you go?

Justin (DM):

Well, Camp Do Anything, but I'm not an adventurer. Where'd dad go? Camp Do Anything, but we're not adventurers. We're trying to go. Now, don't this isn't about us.

Justin (DM):

This is about you. I think I mean We're we're showing some support here, Pat. I think you'd be appreciative of this.

Nick (Pat):

I I appreciate the thought.

Justin (DM):

What is that supposed to mean?

Nick (Pat):

I bet I appreciate the thought. It's very kind of you. Yeah. And Oh, there seems to I think there's something I think there's something going on. I gotta I gotta I'll call I'll call you in a couple days.

Justin (DM):

Call us call us right

Nick (Pat):

I'll call you in a couple days. I love you. I'll I'll see you Alright. I'll talk soon. Pet hangs up and throws his phone and walks out, heads to the pits.

Justin (DM):

You get to the pits, there is no one around, it's in the evening time. What does Pat do?

Nick (Pat):

Pat pulls out like the sort of like training dummies and one by one just starts slashing through them until there are no more training dummies.
