This is why I don't knock
no soliciting signs.
This video is inspired by a, a
DM I got on Instagram that read.
Adam.
What would you say to a homeowner who got
aggressive after I knocked their door and
they had a no soliciting sign, and I'm
sitting here scratching my head thinking
they have every right to be upset.
They have every right to be aggressive
because they had a sign that said, don't
do this, and you saw it and ignored it.
Does that come across
as respectful to you?
Yeah.
Yeah, I know, I know.
I know.
There are folks that are gonna
completely disagree with me, and
they're gonna say, I knock every deal.
I knock every home.
I've sold no soliciting
signs left and right.
I've made X, Y, and Z deals, yada yada.
I get that.
And there's a difference between what
works in sales and what aligns with
your own personal morals and values.
And I'm gonna give you two examples.
Hi, I'm calling about your car
warranty that just expired.
We've all received those
Robodi phone calls, haven't we?
They work.
That's why they keep doing them.
But you could not pay me enough
money to try to con or scam
people through some gimmicky sales
tactic to just collect money.
Again, it works, but it
doesn't align with my values.
Or if you've ever registered a
business or purchased a home.
And get these letters in the mail that
appear to be like they're part of some
government agency to register your deed
or protect your copyright or something.
And they're like, send this amount
to this agency and it looks legit.
And again, it works.
But in my opinion, it is completely
unethical, in misleading.
And the reason they make it, they disguise
themselves as this federal agency is
because people, again, it builds trust
or credibility saying, Hey, I need to
to file here and I'll write the check.
And they're doing this from
a predatory standpoint.
So in this video, I wanna share with you
why I don't knock no soliciting signs.
And if you want more on this, I
did another video on how to get
around the no soliciting sign in
Dmitri Lapinsky of Roofing Insights.
He interviewed me as part of a series
where he talked about no soliciting signs,
and this topic just keeps coming up, hence
the direct message I got off Instagram.
So let's get into it and talk about
this no soliciting sign thing and why
I don't knock no soliciting signs.
Before we get started, welcome or
welcome back, Adam Mesman here,
the roof strategist and everything
that I do here at my channel.
My podcast and my programs is
designed to help you and your team
smash your income goal and give
every customer an amazing experience.
And I start off inquisitively
wondering how do we give
someone an amazing experience by
disrespecting their boundaries?
Huh?
I dunno.
Maybe you have, I'm sure someone
will drop a comment below, but
let's first start with this.
How about, uh, uh, an, an message?
This was a, actually a public
Facebook post from a gentleman
right here from Lucian.
I'll read this to you.
Okay.
It reads Adam Benjamin.
It's great.
One of my favorites is leaving a
letter at the door of a homeowner
who had a no soliciting sign.
Don't make it awkward.
So his soliciting sign said, no,
soliciting don't make it awkward.
So he left the letter in the door, and
then he says, he called me the next
day, thanked me for not knocking, and
invited me to come inspect his roof.
It turned into a $7,000 commission
for two pennies worth of paper
and ink, and again, the homeowner
said, thank you for not knocking.
Because we respect our boundaries.
It's this simple.
My friends, there's the things in,
there are things in sales that work,
and there are things in sales that work,
but I just won't do them because I don't
believe in treating people that way.
I believe that there are many reasons
someone will have a no soliciting sign up.
Number one, what if they
have a medical condition?
What if they're a night shift worker,
a graveyard worker, and they're
working all day and you disturb them?
What if they just had a baby
and putting the baby to sleep?
Is really important for them
throughout the day, and they have
been sleeping at night and they
just say, don't knock on my door.
And you disrespect it and now you throw
off the whole routine for the family.
Or quite frankly, what if it just says,
this is my private space and my house, and
I get to choose how I wish to be engaged
with in my own property, my own castle.
When you show up at that house,
you're saying, I don't respect you.
I'll do it anyway.
And again, I know there are
people that are, say it works.
I don't care if it still works.
The point is this is someone's
express boundary at their home.
And it is my opinion and my core belief
and my values to respect people's
opinions, my taglines, to help you
smash your income goal and give
every customer an amazing experience.
And I find it very challenging at scale to
give people an amazing experience when you
violate their boundaries out of a gate.
Strategies like using the
letter that Lucian mentioned.
Where you tape it on the door.
By the way, include this in my
program, all the letters, the door
hanger letters, a direct mail letter,
even a letter that will sell against
people who are knocking the door.
And it reads, are you tired of
people knocking in your door?
And for many people, it draws them
in to read it and they call you.
And then just like it happened with
Lucian, which is not the only one who made
a $7,000 commission from taping a piece
of paper on the door saying, I respect
you, they'll call you off that letter
because you've differentiated yourselves.
So if you want to.
Align your core values with your sales.
You need to check yourself and
say, does this truly work for me?
Am I giving people an amazing experience?
Is this how I want to project myself to
the world and the people that I serve?
Is this how I want to represent
the company that I sell for now,
everyone's beliefs are different.
That's a beauty of beliefs.
So you don't have to agree with
anything in my video, but I do challenge
you to really check how you conduct
your business and does it align?
With how you want people to feel.
And in my belief, I do not knock a no
soliciting sign, but it doesn't mean
that I don't sell to that person.
It just means that I
abide by their wishes.
And I use alternative strategies
like leave behind letters or
direct mail letters, all of which.
Are included with over 280 documents
for storm and retail for darn near
every situation you could imagine,
including no soliciting signs.
Are you tired of roofers at your door?
I drove by and noticed this.
Hey, I passed by and noticed
that you had wind damage.
Three tab shingles, uh, old hail
damage before it's too late.
Financing offers, you
name it for storm retail.
Darn near any scenario.
It's in there.
And these are ways that you
can serve your customers.
And then they thank you
for respecting them.
So again, you get to
decide what works for you.
And I'd love to hear from
you in the comment section
below, but there you have it.
That's why I don't knock
no soliciting signs.
Now, if any of that material that I
mentioned, those door hanger letters,
the direct mail letters and strategies
that you or your sales team can use
to self-generate leads, so you have
to spend even more money on marketing
and these leads come in that are
hot and again, uh, can generate six.
To $7,000 Monster Commissions from
leaving a silly little letter at the door.
Then, uh, click the link in the
description and check out my my
Roofing sales training program.
It's called the Roofing
Sales Success Formula.
And if you wanna see and decide for
yourself, if it's right, I invite you
to get a demo and you can just text
the word demo to 3 0 3 2 2 2 71 33.
That's 3 0 3.
2 2, 2 71 33.
Just text the word demo,
we'll pop you a link back.
You can ask any questions to our
team or pick a time so you can hop
in and see for yourself, is this the
right fit and will it work for me?
And I know that it's important to align
your company's values around a training
center that, again, teaches sales
techniques that align with your values.
So if you, if you jive with this video,
I imagine that you'll love what's inside.
And I do back it with a 30
day money back guarantee.
So if you're not satisfied for any
reason, I buy it back from you.
There you have it now, just cuz
our time here is about to wrap up,
doesn't mean your in my time has to.
So if you haven't yet hopped
into my free training center,
click right here and hop inside.

on no soliciting signs and how to work
around them, watch an old lunchtime live.

live from my van, in fact.
And you can hop into that one right
here and I'll see you on the next one.
