Crystal Watts:

Welcome to Student Activities Online Leadership Toolbox. Today on Inspired Leadership, I will be talking about Personal Congruence. Start by reflecting on your definition of leadership. Ask yourself, what do you truly believe makes a good leader? Pause and examine your response.

Crystal Watts:

You may find that the answer connects to one key idea: Integrity. Now define Personal Congruence, understanding that congruence means alignment. It means bringing together who you are, what you believe, what you say, and what you do. When these elements align, you act with integrity and purpose. Now take a step inward.

Crystal Watts:

Evaluate your own behavior. Ask yourself with meaningful questions. If someone observed your actions daily, what would they believe about you? Do your actions reflect your values? Do you say what you mean and follow through on what you say?

Crystal Watts:

Pay attention to your reactions. Test your beliefs. Say statements like I trust myself or I like myself and notice how you respond. Use these reactions to identify areas where alignment may be missing. Now shift your perspective.

Crystal Watts:

Don't view misalignment as a failure. Recognize it as an opportunity. Use it to grow, improve and strengthen your sense of self. Now begin the process of becoming congruent. Start by identifying what you stand for, define your values, discover what motivates you and what you want to contribute to the world.

Crystal Watts:

Next, take action. Align your daily behaviors with your values. Don't separate what you believe from how you act. Instead, live your values consistently. Now apply strategies to strengthen this process.

Crystal Watts:

Begin journaling. Record your thoughts, experiences, and reactions. Use reflection to better understand where your attention and energy are going. Next, explore your strengths. Use assessments, feedback and self reflection to identify what you do well.

Crystal Watts:

Build awareness and use that knowledge to guide your actions. Now identify your values. Pay attention to what matters most to you. Stay open to what you discover and use that information to guide your decisions. As you move forward, practice consistency.

Crystal Watts:

Remind yourself of your beliefs daily. Make intentional choices. Seek opportunities that allow you to act in alignment with your values. Now take ownership. Move away from saying one thing and doing another.

Crystal Watts:

Instead, commit to what you believe. Let your actions reflect your words. Recognize that this process takes time. Stay patient. Trust the process.

Crystal Watts:

Continue to grow as you align your values, beliefs, and actions. And that's it. Let's review what was presented. We defined Personal Congruence, explored how to evaluate alignment, and discussed strategies to help you live with integrity and purpose. Remember to stay intentional when you align who you are with what you do.
