Chief Endurance Officer

Today’s guest is competent, a teacher at heart, and was granted the Business Leader of the Year in 2016. Introducing Amir Rashidian, Owner of Mid Atlantic Clinic of Chiropractic. Amir sits down with Gregory McDonough and shares how engaging in consistent exercise and maintaining fitness is an ongoing commitment. Amir explains that once you start, it's important to continue exercising throughout your life. Stopping can result in regression and loss of progress. Listen to the amazing advice Amir gives about setting your core values and not compromising!

Takeaways:
  • Having an endurance mindset has affected Amir’s life unexpectedly by believing. Amir thinks that most of the time, people fail at achieving their goals because they are not equipped to handle the stress that comes their way. A best practice is to go one step at a time to avoid stressing yourself out.
  • At Amir’s company, they focus on GAP, General Adaptation Potential. GAP stands for how much stress your body can mentally and physically handle. If your stress level is high, you are susceptible to illness and injury.
  • Even though stress can be bad for your body and mental health, stress can also be used for good things like preparing for an endurance race to help adapt your body. It is important to manage your stress levels to balance your body correctly.
  • In the UFC, when they are preparing for a fight, they will gather tougher sparring partners when it gets closer to their fight date. Sometimes, training hard can injure the fighters so, they started to use a heart rate variability. Heart rate variability measures your tolerance to stress. This has been able to help reduce injuries for the fighters.
  • One of the biggest deficiencies in America today is stomach acid. Stomach acid starts to decline because people are in a state of constant heightened awareness. Being in a continuous state of stress and anxiety can deteriorate your body over time. Try to relax and control your stress by meditating or taking a break.
  • There is a product of cold gloves that you can wear while you are working out or training. In the gloves is cold water that cools your hands down. When your blood is colder, your endurance is much higher. With it being cold, you can do 20-30% more repetitions or you could run further and longer before you experience fatigue.

Quote of the Show:
  • “The more I use that endurance mindset, the more I realize what I am capable of.” - Amir Rashidian
