Capital chat only on KINY. And we're back. It's Angel Montgomery back in the studio, but this time with Jamie and Shauna from Gold Belt. How's it going this morning, ladies? Doing great.
Speaker 2:Thank you for inviting us.
Speaker 1:Absolutely. We're excited. Something really fun is coming up. I've been kinda seeing, it on social media, people talking about it, but it's AKtoberfest. For someone listening that doesn't know what that is, can you give me a small synopsis?
Speaker 2:Sure. So a k toberfest, also known as Oktoberfest. This is actually our twenty fifth annual Oktoberfest. So we've been doing it quite while on the mountain. It's this Saturday on October fourth from about one to nine ish, probably a little bit earlier than that.
Speaker 2:It's just a really really fun day. Since it is our twenty fifth anniversary, we decided to change things up a little bit. Typically, it's for the adult audience. But this time, we're actually making it family friendly. So from about one to 4PM, we'll actually have all of our family friendly events.
Speaker 2:I'll have Shonda talking about those different activities we have going on the mountain. And then about 04:30, we're gonna switch to our adult side and have a little bit more fun. Love
Speaker 1:love love. And this is all happening, like you said, up on the mountain. Correct? Correct. So that's taking place again this Saturday.
Speaker 1:So let's start with with just the fact that I'm assuming you need to or probably should get your tickets in advance.
Speaker 2:Oh, absolutely. If you can get your tickets as soon as possible, you could find those on goldbelttram.com. Or if you like, you can even come down to our lobby during our operational days, which is typically when the cruise ships are in. We do have a ship in today, so you can go to the lobby and purchase those tickets there as well. Fun.
Speaker 2:Well, let's
Speaker 1:walk through the day. So if you do, if you are the family bunch that wants to come and experience AKtoberfest with the whole family, what will they be walking into?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so the day is gonna start off about one. We're gonna have a coloring station for kids to intermingle with each other in color. We'll have a few games for our children. About two, we'll start doing some of the children's contest games. We've got pen, the tail and the donkey.
Speaker 3:We have a children's costume contest and then we'll have a pinata to finalize the the children's events. Then starting at four, like Jamie said, we're gonna have music. So we'll have some live music up there and then we'll also have beer pong and cornhole contests.
Speaker 1:Sign me up.
Speaker 3:Yeah. And then an adult contest for costumes as And then we'll we'll round out the evening with some grand prize drawings. We'll be doing prizes throughout the day, but then we'll have our grand prize drawings in the evening, like around 08:30 to sort of in the evening. Okay. This year, we're going to be doing our grand prize is going to be Alaska Airline Miles.
Speaker 3:Wow. Yeah. And then we'll also have a season pass for Eagle Crest.
Speaker 1:Fun. So do you have to be present to win those grand prizes?
Speaker 3:You do need to be present to win the grand prize.
Speaker 1:Okay. You should be. I mean, those are pretty pretty grand if I do say so myself. Okay. That sounds amazing.
Speaker 1:I mean, so many fun festivities. The one thing I always have to ask about any event, can
Speaker 2:we talk food? Yeah. Lots of food. Okay.
Speaker 1:I'm really looking forward to that. Tell me.
Speaker 2:All right, Shonda, what do we have for our food?
Speaker 3:So our food this year, we're gonna be doing traditional German buffet. So we'll have things like bratwurst and sauerkraut. We're gonna have chicken and dumplings. We're gonna have Bavarian pretzels with queso, German potato salad, pork loin, and then some desserts.
Speaker 1:Yep. Yep. Yep. That sounds amazing. We're doing
Speaker 3:food all day. So for the duration of the of the event.
Speaker 1:Is that included in your ticket?
Speaker 2:It is. Yes.
Speaker 1:Is. Oh, wow.
Speaker 2:So all the food and all the events are included with your ticket and of course the tram ride up as well.
Speaker 1:Oh, wow. Well then that's a huge okay. That's, like a total win win. I mean, what a deal to be able to get all of that just for your ticket. So do kids, is that a different price for kids?
Speaker 2:Yes. Okay.
Speaker 3:Yeah. So children, are $10.
Speaker 1:So Okay.
Speaker 3:Yeah. If you're bringing your kids with you, they they write up for 10 and get to experience the entire day.
Speaker 1:It's a no brainer. I mean, even if you have plans on Saturday, cancel them. This is where you need to be. And, again, you can get tickets where if you if you you said you can go in person, but is there somewhere to get them online?

Speaker 1:underneath our activities tab. And is there a possibility for you guys to sell out? Are you selling any the day of like at the at the bottom of the jam?
Speaker 2:We are selling the day of. Okay. But there is a possibility for us to sell out because the food is included.
Speaker 1:Absolutely.
Speaker 2:And we wanna make sure we have enough for everyone.
Speaker 1:Yeah. And if I'm coming, mean, we need to your tickets now. Again, that is happening this Saturday. Fun stuff with the whole fact that you guys are, you know, incorporating like a family vibe again for the twenty fifth year. I love this.
Speaker 1:So is there anything we might have missed? Any any part of, the whole day that we might have excluded a little bit that we need to highlight? I feel like
Speaker 2:We just have so much I know. Feel like And so definitely, go online, buy those tickets as soon as you can. Talk to your friends and family about possibly putting together your team for, you know, the beer pong or the cornhole. Those are gonna be single eliminations and you'll be signing up the day of once you're actually on the mountain for those contests.
Speaker 1:Great. I I gotta imagine that this takes a lot of planning. Is it is it just that Gold Belt that puts it on? Do you guys have partners as well?
Speaker 2:Yes. We do partner with the Alaska Brewing Company.
Speaker 1:Okay. Because I mean, again, this is this is a big thing for you guys to, put all together. You guys said that you've been doing it for twenty five years. I'm assuming you guys have been to one or two of these. What's something that sticks out that you always like look forward to at AKtoberfest?
Speaker 2:Probably the chicken dance. So if we have any chicken dancers out there, come on up to the mountain, you could win something.
