Full show transcript:

I really uh

don't know how to start today's show, but go ahead, let's see what we got going.

Okay. Here are I'm gonna give you a couple of villains from 80s cartoons. Okay. And I want you to pick which one you think you could fight. And when? Yes. Okay. Megatron from the Transplant.

Yeah, I don't think so. I don't think I'm gonna beat Megatron.

Skeletor from He-Man.

Look, he's a goof. I don't think he's like sure. Like so long as I have the power of Gray Skull, I'll be fine. Okay.

Then did you ever watch Thundercats? Here and there. Okay, we won't do that one. Shredder. Oh, yeah.

From the I could absolutely take Shredder and the foot the foot soldiers, yeah. What about Krang? Krang's the brain of the operation. He's got that big body. If it was just crank without the big body, yes.

Okay, or Gargamel from the Smurfs.

Oh, absolutely.

I'd take Gargamel, you kidding me.

I could absolutely take Gargamel.

Which one? Do you think you think you could win Gargamel?

I could beat Gargamel, yes. Gargamel's just an old man who likes smurf soup.

Did you watch Did you ever watch Sheera? No. Okay. So Krang, Shredder, Skelator, Megatron, or Gargamel. Gargamel. I should take I could take Gargamel.

I'm trying to see if he's okay. He's a reclusive. Hold on. He's a reclusive sorcerer. He's got his cat, Asrael. And he frequently attempts to capture the Smurfs for various purposes.

And he wore like a long nightgown. Yeah, he had that black nightgown. It was purple, wasn't it? No, it was black. Oh, okay. Are you sure?

I'm looking at it. Yeah, I'm positive. His dark robe is worn and patched and is balding and his teeth are rotten. Yeah, he lives in a shack with Azrael. Yeah. Yeah, I got Gargamel. I think I can take Gargamel. Look at him. I feel like I know some people that kind of have this look.

Who do you think you could not beat?

Oh, I yeah, no. There's there's no way I'm taking a transformer. That's not happening. Okay. Space robots? No way. But you think you could take Skeletor? Yeah, he's a goof. And again, if I had the power of Gray Skull, yes.

You don't. Just me as me? Yes.

Oh, I'm only gonna take Gargamel. Look at him. I didn't get to eat my Smurfs. Oh. Anyway. Yeah, that's who are you fighting? I'll fight. Everybody, I'll fight them all at once. Cause you talk a big game.

Yeah, I do. Yeah. You want to start today's show? I guess. Okay, here we go. Hello. Hi. I haven't done. Hold up. Okay. I haven't done the barbershop quartet in a while. Oh, do you want to do that? Yeah, do you want to?

Is that a thing you want to do? Well, it's a it's only two of us. But you uh you can go ahead. You do all four parts pretty well, I think. And if it's something you really want to do to kick off the show this morning, then you should barbershop quartet.

Hello, hello, hello, hello. Wow. That was a pretty good one. I'm all right. Sure thing. Hi. Hello, howdy. Hi.

What's what's new? What's good? Let's crack a lacking. What is happening today?

Couldn't tell you. I am beat up. How come? My body is sore.

Because yesterday I had a day. And I didn't realize that I contemplated. I woke up uh pretty early this morning and I was like, man, I should uh call in sick? No. Oh.

No. I was thinking, is it too early to take an ibuprofen? I feel like my body is sore. And I thought, I don't want to wake up and take an ibuprofen first thing in the morning. That seems crazy.

Maybe you're like, let's have a sick day. No. Nah. Because I'm not sick. Yeah, I guess. My body is just aching. you could have a mental wellness day. It's I'm fine. Okay.

I don't need that. I just contemplated whether I needed to take early morning ibuprofen. And did you? No. Take some? No. Why? Because I'll just tough through it.

Oh, you're so strong.

It's not what I was saying at all. I just uh I didn't realize that my body was gonna be like, hey, dude, maybe uh slow down. I was I was working pretty tough, uh pretty hard. Pretty tough for for compare to comparatively to like what I do every day. Yeah, which is a lot of sitting in front of computers and typing and pushing buttons and talking and you know, going to meetings and like sitting there and like you know, yeah, it's pretty low impact. And then to uh to spend a good portion of my day yesterday climbing ladders, bending this way and that way, and you know, running saws and just a bunch of different stuff, having to crouch down and do stuff down low, squeezing in the spots. It was just that was uh that was a different kind of seven hour day. Gotcha.

So you're sore, you're tired. Okay. Yeah. Jetada taking a sick day. That's not I'm just uh I

can't decide if I should take an ibuprofen. Fall in sick. I think you just want to not work. Yeah, well, yeah.

I don't know why everyone's so surprised by that all the time. Yeah. Yeah. I want to not work. I mean, I like don't get me wrong. I do like being here with you. But man, oh man, I was getting some good sleep. Yeah. So I really was like, I don't wanna. Okay. Well, well, here we are. Here we are. Hello, hello, hello, hello.

That one wasn't as good. That one felt rushed and the same it didn't uh escalate quite as well. Yeah. But you did two of them. Yeah. So you're welcome. Thank you.

All right, here's some good news. This is a crazy story, and and it's one of those stories where you go like, how's this happen? Back in 2018, so this is eight years ago, Angelina and Edward Leto, they moved from South Sudan to Canada, and they won a 2.5 million dollar scratch off jackpot.

They're just playing a little scratcher game, won two and a half million dollars. The money, obviously life changing. Uh, allowed Edward to rescue his mother from a refugee camp in Uganda, which is a big deal. So fast forward to this year, and Angeline and Edward won big again. No way.

They brought home six hundred and seventy-five thousand dollar top prize from a four dollar ticket. Edward admitted that he was skeptical upon hearing the good news from Angelina. He said, I thought maybe she was bluffing when she said uh, you know, when she told me, and he said, I really couldn't believe it.

I told her to calm down, uh, and when I come home, we'll see if it's for real. Well, luckily the couple had been through this process before, they knew exactly what to do. So Angeline and Edward, they're still getting used to the idea of being two-time lottery winners.

Uh, and they don't have an immediate plan for the money, but they've had so much fun and success playing the lottery, they say they'll continue spending a few bucks here and there just to see what happens next. you're lucky I know How does that happen? I mean, it's crazy that it would happen once.

I get pretty stoked when I win a buck. I mean, yeah, oh I'm like, oh, I broke even.

Yeah, but then you keep hitting that like buy a new ticket. Yeah, and then you're like, well, now that dollar's gone. Yeah. Yeah. It was fun to scratch off a ticket though.

So anyway, play responsibly. Uh, but if you uh, you know, won two and a half million dollars in a scratch off. That do they even have a two and a half million dollar scratch off? I don't think so. I don't know. I don't I don't play enough.

I don't either. I mean, like maybe once a year. Yeah, Christmas. That's what I'm saying.

I don't really not really a big scratch off guy. Uh, but anyway. Congrats to those guys. Yeah, that's fun. I just don't know how that happens. Lucky ducks. I know. Good news for them, I guess. HOAs. We don't have one. No.

I'm certainly glad that we don't. Yeah. Yeah, me too. We hear lots of horror stories from our friends and and uh co-workers, and every time I hear an HOA story, I go, man, I'm glad I don't have one of those.

Uh and to be fair, I think there are certain uh benefits to it as far as making sure that your you know, your neighborhood, your uh subdivision, whatever, uh upholds like uh a nice look.

It's clean, and so I can appreciate that. But the last thing I want in the whole wide world is someone telling me how tall my grass needs to be and bringing over a ruler to see if it's the right thing.

What color of stain you need to put on your fence.

Yeah, and uh whether you can have wood or vinyl or whatever. Yeah, yeah. Dude. It's uh crazy. Yeah, or you can plant the tree or not, or you know, your garbage can has to be in and out a certain time. We don't want them on the street after a certain time. Like, dude. Chill down. Calm down.

There is an HOA who this was online. A homeowner homeowner shared their HOA request that the residents stop handing out full-size candy bars and stick to the smaller fun size treats because they want to keep the experience consistent throughout the neighborhood. And they don't want to have situations where some homes feel pressure to match larger offerings.

That's a personal problem. This is the weird thing that I go, like, why are you hung up on this? This is a strange thing.

Because there are people who I understand.

Somebody got mad, somebody complained, somebody went to the HOA meeting in the middle of the day and said, no, I can't stand it. People do that, and I feel like I can't. And that makes me feel bad.

Guess what? I don't feel bad that I can't buy larger size candy bars, but I know where you can get some. And kudos to those people for buying it. That's what I mean. I'm buying the small ones. Right.

I it doesn't affect me. I don't feel like I'm less than because you're not there's always somebody who's gonna do something crazy in some neighborhood in town. I have fun.

Your offerings are not consistent. Yeah, well.

Your feelings aren't my problem. Oh that's what I would have said in that meeting.

You could always give out potatoes. Yeah, do something weird. Yeah. Toothbrushes, dental floffs. Yeah.

Be the house that gives out dental flops. A can of baked beans. Mm-hmm.

What? Whatever you can find laying around.

A lot of people. Chimed in and said one of the best parts of Halloween is the variety. Right. You don't ever know what you're gonna get at any certain house. Some houses go hell out, some houses keep it simple, some just don't participate at all.

Some give you terrible candy. And you're like, I like whoppers. But also you don't even remember because you go house to house to house so fast, and then you get back home and you throw it all out on the floor to sort it. So what are you talking about? What are you talking about? You know, your feelings are not this community's problem. Yeah. Right.

HOAs. Oh man. Chill down.

Just that's a weird thing to try to control. Again, that doesn't, it's irrelevant to the neighborhood overall.

Was there ever any houses when you went trick-or-treating?

There were lots of houses. What are you asking?

That passed out full-size candy bars.

Uh I don't think I ever really ran into one of those. Really? Yeah. You know what would be a fun house to be? The one that hands out two liters. Holy. I mean, they used to be way less than candy. You could get like a yeah, that's true. A two-liter of Shasta for like 60 cents.

At the dollar store, yeah, you could get you know what I'm saying?

Be the two-liter house. Ooh. Right.

Really stir up some HOAs.

When they go trick-or-treat and you go, here's your two-liter and slide that down that pillowcase. They're gonna go, what am I gonna do with this for the rest of the day? Not my problem.

You gotta drink this. Get it out of here.

You're giving out two liters. You could you can hear it on the step. It'd be crazy. Go nuts, kid. Be the two-liter house.

Do you want to be the two-liter house?

That's what I'm saying. Like, do something different. Do you want you can't afford the big candy bars, but you can afford the you know, $30 bag of hundred pieces of candy. Go spend $30 on two liters.

Do you want to be the two-liter house? That's what I'm asking you. We don't get very many trick-or-treaters anyway. So we wouldn't have to buy very much. No. We could be the two-liter house until word got out.

Right. And then you're like, I'm all out of two liters, guys. Uh stock ran out. People showed up and they were like, Can I get one for my little brother? Yeah. I don't like that. If you're not at the door, you're not getting candies.

Can we get one for the baby? The baby's not drinking a two-liter. No.

Yeah. Yeah.

No. Did the baby come up to the door and say trick-or-treat? No.

Yeah. My dad's driving. He likes this soda. Yeah.

Can I get him one? For your dad. Share yours with him. It's two liters. Can I get one for my brother? We've all had that kid. I know. I'm like, you got two pillowcases because you're just trying to win the day. You're trying to be like, look how much candy I got. I got two pillowcases. And all these people think I have a brother.

Don't pull one over on my pillow.

This pillowcase is my brother. What? Yeah. Two pillowcases.

Brilliant. Here's a fun fact. I know you love fun facts. All right. What's your fun fact? Well, I was just reading something. And bubble wrap. You know bubble wrap. Sure. It was originally invented in 1957 as a textured three-dimensional plastic wallpaper. Well, that's interesting. I know.

I imagine uh people then popped it. Well, I don't know what people did. There's no way they didn't.

I don't know what they did. People didn't not want it on their walls. Shocker.

People did not want it on their walls. Correct. Well, I'm looking at some, and here's here's what I think is cool. Is that you paint the wall underneath. Yeah. And then you put the bubble wrap over the top, and it takes on a cool texture over the top of whatever color you paint. So as I looked up just a picture of bubble wrap wallpaper, there's a picture here where it's kind of a gradient. They kind of did an ombre between like an aquamarine and like a blue. And so it's just uh it's kind of a fade, right? Between the two colors.

Okay. And then the bubble wrap laid on top of that, and it actually looks like the cool. It looks kind of cool. But I think you'd have to uh you'd have to really work to line it up because the other pictures I'm seeing show that like bubble wrap is kind of it's got grid, it's got you know, it's got a pattern to it where it lines up, and that's probably the hardest part of wallpaper. If you've never hung wallpaper, is trying to get the pattern to match up. Um you're pretty good at that.

That is something that you are

very good at Here's what frustrates me about it. Whoever designed wallpaper didn't design it in a way that you don't have a whole bunch of waste to get everything to line up.

Yes. And if you're buying it by the stick on roll, it gets really expensive to line up your panels when you have to shift them up or down, and you have to cut off the waste at the ceiling, and then you have a gap at the floor that didn't match as well. I I'm so frustrated by wallpaper. I can't even stand it.

We were just talking about putting wallpaper in our bathroom. Have you changed your mind?

Uh I just don't want to be the one to install it. But you're so good at it.

I don't know if I can do it because mine would be wonky. You're so good at like matching it all up. You're more of a perfectionist than I am.

But that's also what drives me crazy.

I know it. But that's why it looks so nice.

And if I don't get it just right, every time I go into the bathroom, I'm like, I know that's and it's gonna make me crazy.

Okay, so I guess maybe we don't do wallpaper. Or we have somebody else install it. Who? I like a pro. I don't know about that. Why? Because that costs a lot of money. You could just do it for freezes. Oh boy. It's a small space.

I don't know if that's better or worse.

We haven't done wallpaper. Let's see. We did have wallpaper in our living room. And it was a what kind of pattern was it? Like a chevron. Yeah. You did good at that. A ton of waste, though.

There was a big one. It was like yellow and gray, if I remember right. It was just yellow and white. Okay. And uh, yeah, that was that was tough. Now that's a faux brick wall, and I prefer that because I just had to cut out the panel and stick it on the wall. I still had to line up the bricks to make it look right and fill in some gaps and stuff, but man.

It's funny that you I always thought you kind of liked doing it. I thought you enjoyed the process of it. Not wallpaper. No. Okay. Good to know. It's frustrating. I know that it was frustrating, but I always thought you kind of liked it. No. Okay.

That's why we've only done it there. Like in the bathroom now with the live or the uh the dictionary pages that are stuck to the wall. That was easier because that's just stick them on and cornstarch and water, and off you go. Yeah. That was easy. That was that was easy. So I don't mind that kind of wallpaper, but having the big roll and having to roll it down and measure and cut, put the piece up, and then try to line everything up. It's just yuck.

Now they have now they have wallpaper that you just spray, you lay it out and you spray your stuff, and you can peel and stick. It's still the same process. Well, I mean, you can like back in the day, wallpaper, like you once you put it down, it was there was no chance you were moving it. Like old school wallpaper.

That stuff was crazy because you had to get it all wet. So you had to put the rolls in the water, and then the glue would get all sticky, and you would put it up on the wall, and you could you had a few minutes that you could slide it around to get it to line up, but yeah, that's it wallpaper, man. What are we doing? Just do bubble wrap. I l I mean you could. It's but again, you're gonna have you're gonna have people pushing your wall.

What do you mean? Push oh, if you have the bubble wrap.

Yeah, people you're gonna have a flat wall a matter of time because people are gonna push on it. Me, including my own self. Yeah, I know. Quit pushing on the wall. See, that's gonna be me. We're not we can't do it the whole time. I'd be like, please stop pushing all the wall.

We're gonna have a flat wall. And you'd be like, it's fine. Pop pop pop. I'm like, well, now we have a weird hole where you've popped all the bubbles. This is why they said, let's just put it in boxes.

Yeah, let's just use this as packing material. Wrap glass in it and put it in boxes,

which was a much better use, actually. I called you last night,

and I said, Hey, what's what are you doing? And he said, Oh, I'm I'm busy doing this project. And I went, Oh, okay. I guess it looks like me solo at parent teacher conference. Yeah. And you went, Oh, I forgot. I did forget.

Um you said, I guess you won't have time. Um, then I said, Yeah, I'm I'm really bummed out about that. I wanted to go.

Nobody wants to go to parent teacher conference. I just wanted to be there,

you know, like uh like it's a thing. I don't mind going. Really? Not at all.

I mean, I don't, it's it's not that I mind going to talk to my students' teachers and to and to support my kid and and figure out what's going on in their lives. Like, I enjoy that process. What I don't enjoy is like, especially if your kids are in middle school or high school, you're just waiting. Waiting and waiting and waiting to talk to the teachers. And we were waiting to talk to her math teacher. Yeah, and somebody tried to crowd in front of us. Yeah, I don't care for that.

No. Like, hey, hey, there's a line. And she said, Are you guys waiting for this classroom or that classroom?

I said this one. And she goes, Oh, I came by once before and I was waiting earlier, and she was still talking to those same people. Yeah. And I went, you kind of lost your place in line, though. You left. I I think she had the intention that we were gonna let her in. Right. But I kind of went, uh I appreciate that you were here before.

Did you say that, or did you just go, bummer?

No, I just went, okay, well, I guess we're next. Yeah.

Well, we'll be quicker, hopefully.

We were quick. Yeah, I had to get in and out. I had to say one thing and we were done. Right. End and end to end.

That's I mean, that's kind of the thing, I guess. Like, I would rather go and and be there and support. Like, we only have one of our kids in school still. So and it's like this year and next year, and that's it. And then there's no more parent-teacher conference ever.

I was thinking about that as I was driving away, and I went, that seems awesome. Does it? Yeah. I don't I don't love that.

Did you enjoy it in uh elementary school? No. No. No. Did you enjoy it when you were a student? No. Huh. I always liked it. Did I enjoy it when my kids were in elementary school?

Is that what you asked?

No, I'm asking when you were a kid in school.

No, I hated when my teachers and parents met. Did you? Yes. Those are two worlds. They should not meet. Why? I don't know. Huh. I didn't like it. Okay. When our kids were in elementary school, no, I didn't mind that. Because you picked a time, right? Yeah, right. And so then you could go at your chosen time. That is correct. And you could expect to spend about 10 to 15 minutes and then you were at the end.

I'm done. You're correct. It wasn't. But it was always fun to be like, and this is the project that they've been working on, and here's their art folder. And here's I thought that was cool.

Well, right. And we have good kids. So our teachers were always like That is true. We got nothing to report. Right. She's a good kid. She does her work.

Sometimes it was, well, we need to talk about the chattiness of your boy. Chattiness.

There was a time where it was like, I appreciate that he's reading all the time, but we're

done with reading now, and now we gotta do math. Books away.

So maybe it we could work on putting your book away. Right. I'd be like, that's not a problem. Right. He's reading. Now I can't get him to pick up a book. Yeah. I miss those two. He reads sometimes.

He's got a book series that he's been reading. Yeah. So yeah, I mean he's reading. Okay. Not nearly as much as he's playing video games. there But there is a book series that he's reading. Maybe he cruised through it. Maybe he's done. I don't know. Could be. Because he was buying the books every time we went to the bookstore. He's like, Oh, I gotta get the next one. But anyway.

I do appreciate the teachers that are there after hours. Oh, it's a big deal. A lot of them. I feel bad for some of them because some of them don't have kids that come talk to them. So they're just sitting there. Lonely.

Go say hi to the teachers that don't have kids. Just go and say, hey, saw you were sitting there. Good to see you. Do you want to talk about my progress in this class?

Yeah, we don't have uh a kid in here, but I see you don't have kids visiting you. Hey, hey, how are you? Good luck today.

Well, just so you know, I tackled parent teacher conference alone.

It sounded like you talked to two teachers.

Yeah, we didn't have time. Okay. We went to talk to one teacher who Emory loves, and she we could not get out of there. And she's lovely, and Emery loves her so much. And she's nice and kind and hilarious. And I was like, we gotta go. And she was like, oh, one more thing. And I went, No, we gotta go.

So you met two teachers.

Two teachers. Out of six.

Yeah. At one point, I checked the uh the app to see where you guys were because I was like, maybe they're on their way. I don't want to bug them. That's why when I right before I sent you the text and said, Call me when you have a minute. Uh huh.

It said you had been in the same location for 17 minutes. Yeah. And I went, they're busy. It was that one teacher. Yeah, no, I saw where it was on the map. I went, they're in that room for 17 minutes. Call me when you have a chance. You did good. Good job being the parent.

Parent duty.

The parent teacher. That's awesome. Let's talk about potato chips really quickly here. Great. Lay's is debuting some potato chip flavors. Uh, as they do around the holidays. There's a couple of things I want to get your hot take on. Okay. Lay's wavy milk chocolate. Ew. And Lay's wavy Dubai style dark chocolate.

Okay. At first I thought, ooh, and now I kind of think that might be okay. Yeah? Yeah. A wavy Lays. Yeah.

So it's got the little uh ridges. Yeah. Uh then coated in milk chocolate.

Yeah, I don't actually think that would be bad. Okay.

And then the other ones are uh Dubai style. So same kind of thing. A dark chocolate, but then with the pistachio on it.

I love the Dubai stuff. So you might be into that. I might be into that. Okay.

So those are uh what do you feel about it? I would try it. I don't know that I'm super into chocolate dipped scalloped potato.

We did we did that, remember?

We made them ourselves, but it wasn't great.

It wasn't so I don't know if I'm into it, but you know, that's that's one thing. Now they're also rolling out some Thanksgiving flavors. Oh, okay. So roasted holiday turkey. Chip?

Yes. It's a roasted turkey flavor with rich gravy flavor. Mmm. Gross. Mmm. Gross. They're also rolling out a cheddar scalloped style potato. It's creamy, cheesy, scalloped potato inspired flavor. Okay. It's cheddar scallop style potatoes.

It's just a potato taste on a potato chip. That's what I thought. That's a lot of potato.

These potato chips taste like potatoes. Yeah. So there's a scallop, but they've got a cheddar to them. Uh cheddar scallop potato and the holiday turkey ones. Uh, those ones will be out October 25th nationwide. Then they're rolling out a maple bacon.

The holiday turkey one sounds horrible. I'm not gonna try that one.

Let's get that holiday Turkey Jones soda lineup. Ew. Gravy soda. Gross.

You know what's you know what's delicious and my favorite thing about this time of year? Forget pumpkin spice. Yeah. This is when all the sandwich shops. Oh, now there's one sandwich shop

that you can get it all year. Year round. But this is the time of year when sandwich shops are like, come get your turkey cranberry stuffing sandwich. And I go, okay. You love that sandwich. I love it. I don't, I don't. So good. Nah. Cranberry sauce? No. Turkey? Nah. Stuffing. Nah. Yes. No.

And the one place that keeps it all year long, they kind of crispy up the stuffing. So your stuffing is. And you love it. I do love it. I know.

Did you hear me about maple bakery? Maple bacon chips coming out November 8th. It's a sweet maple and smoky bacon combination. And then December 1st at Select Retailers, it doesn't say who. That's where you'll get the uh milk chocolate wavy and the Dubai style dark chocolate wavy.

I wish that you could try just a few without Yeah. buying a whole bag. Right. Because I we bought a thing of Pringles because I wanted to try it. And it had the Asian zing from Buffalo Wild Wings, and I was like, oh, I love Asian Zing.

So apparently the wavy milk chocolate ones are returning, so they've had those. All the other flavors are new. Are brand new.

I just now we've got a thing of Pringles in the They're hot.

They burn my mouth.

Yeah, because I just don't like them well enough to eat them constantly.

But have you tried them with uh Asian zing sauce? Have you dipped them? It's too much. You might love it. It's too much heat.

I gotta get out the kitchen. It's too much heat.

You love a public space so much.

Public space where food is involved.

That's right. You love a company fridge. We've talked a lot about other people's leftovers. There's some donut holes in this fridge that have been there for at least a month. No one's eaten those, but no one's taking responsibility for the donut holes.

Why isn't anybody taking responsibility for them?

Those things gotta be hard as a rock. Oh, for sure. They've been in the fridge. Somebody was like, I'm gonna put these in the fridge. They've been there for over a month. But that's that's not I understand.

That's not as gross as like somebody's

but I'm just saying a communal shared space. People don't take responsibility for their own stuff. No, they don't, or stuff gets left behind, or stuff is outdated and expired and gross. And then you get like the cooking stuff. We have a toaster oven, we have a toaster, we have a couple of different uh you know, you have an air fryer or maybe I don't know what we have out there, and then there's a microwave.

Now the microwave here is clean. Yeah, the people here do a great job of keeping the microwave here clean.

But there's also a a tag on there that says, please make sure there's a lid or a paper towel over your food when you microwave it. But that should be common.

It should be respect for everybody that you work with.

But I'm glad we have a little note that reminds you. Because I think, and and if you were to heat up like leftover spaghetti, for example, it gets a little poppy in there. Uh-huh. And things start the noodles start dancing around and throwing all their sauce around. That's what I imagine happens in there. They're like, I'm warming up. I'm getting crazy. And their little noodle arms are like and sauce is flying around. And then you open up the uh microwave and then you go, what kind of party happened in here, noodle? What'd you do? And so then you, you know, if you're a responsible person, you would grab a paper towel right that moment and you would wipe up your mess.

Well, it's still warm and yeah and easy to clean up and freshly danced around.

Yeah. Yeah.

Instead, people let it dry and harden, and then it becomes trickier to clean up. All right. So who do you want to call out? I'm calling out. Well. I don't know how you want to handle it. I don't either.

But I'm excited to hear about it.

I cleaned out the microwave at work maybe a couple months ago because it was so gross. Grossed me out. And I was like, oh, I can't even put my food in there because I'm afraid. And I am the type of person I put something underneath mine and something on the top of mine.

Because you're grossed out by here's what I like about you. What I like about you is you have visions in your head where you think about I'm gonna put my food in the microwave. And if I don't put something underneath, the food below is gonna crawl up the sides and get in. And if I don't put something on top, the stalagtites above are gonna fall into my food.

The stalactites are gonna fall on the bottom. It's more like I have to carry this container and I have to put this on my desk. Yeah. And I don't want the gross from the bottom of the microwave getting on the bottom of my Tupperware. So I put a napkin down and I put a napkin on top. Right. Sandwiched. I believe that.

Protected from microwave food dirtiness. I do. Yeah. I know.

So I clean that out a couple months ago, and it's back to gross again. And I went, who did this? Yeah. Who did this? Clean up after yourself. Do you have a tag on there? No. Get a tag.

We're all adults. Doesn't matter. I don't like it. And also the counters are gross too. And I clean the counters off not that long ago, too. And I went, how are the counters gross? People, clean up after yourself. Send an email. I might.

Send an email that says, listen, clean up after yourself. Your mom doesn't work here. I might. Yeah.

Let's call out my sister next. Go for it. What's going on? Her microwave is probably one of the grossest I've ever seen in my entire life.

What is going on in that microwave?

She keeps a very clean house. Yeah. Her house is always looking nice until you open the microwave and you go, oh. What's happening? What's happening in here? What is happening? I don't know. I have no idea. I don't know when the last time that microwave was clean. Shame. Shame on her. It's like, do you ever see friends and Monica was the clean freak? But she had a closet and it was a hoarder's closet. That's that microwave is my sister's closet. That is. It's her Monica's closet.

You called her out.

Oh, I for sure did. I called her out to her face while we were there. What did you say? Well, my brother-in-law was there, and I went, What's happening in here? And he goes, Yeah, it's pretty gross. And I went clean it for crying out loud. There were like, there was like a napkin stuck to the bottom. I like that. Glued there. I was like, I I just have to heat up this Danish, but I don't even want to.

I'm just blow on it. Hot air until it's warm.

Just eat it cold. Holy. It was bad. Well. Clean your microwave.

Before Chantel sees it. Because she will judge you by your microwave.

I won't. I just won't put any of my food in there. Right. Because it's gross.

And therefore judged. You can tell a lot about a person by the way their microwave is cut.

Oh, dude. Actually, I think you can. Go open mine. It's clean. I know.

We have a very clean microwave all the time. Because I don't know. And we don't have a sign. No.

Because people should know that's common sense. Right. Cover your food. Particles. Can't I can't remember the situation, but Emery said something to us to me. And I said, No, I know what it was.

She, she I'll just I'm along for the ride. Go ahead. What happened?

You know how like you're somewhere and your kids want to go. And so you constantly hear uh, can we go? Can we go? I'm bored. Can we go? Can we go now? Can we go? Yeah. Can we go?

Sure. So I kept hearing that. And I said, I don't have the keys, and I'm not the one keeping us here. Your dad is the one that's over there talking. Why don't you go either talk to him about this or go get the keys? Because I don't, I don't have the control here. Why are you bugging me about it? I'm sitting here with you. I'm also bored. I also want to leave. Go to a DRC.

too sorry that I held up everybody's

afternoon And I go, why don't you go talk to dad about this? I was having a fine time. Because he's gonna get mad. And I go, you don't think I'm gonna get mad? What am I gonna get mad about? Listen to me. And she goes, Well, when you're mad, you're easier to calm down than dad is.

Okay, first of all, that's a weird thing to say. Secondly, I'm not mad. Like hardly ever. So what am what are they trying to calm me down from? That's that's an interesting thing. I just thought it was

funny that even her just saying, Oh, we want to leave, makes her think that we're gonna get mad. I'm like, I'm mad right now because you keep bugging me about it. Quit asking. I can't. I don't have the control to leave.

Be bored. Entertain yourselves. What do you mean you're bored? Find something to do. Go find someone to talk to about something that you're into. Yeah, go ahead. All of a sudden you won't be bored. Yes. Go burn out some energy.

Right. Go eat a snack. I mean, go take a nap.

Like I've I've scrolled the whole internet and now I'm bored. Now I'm not talking to anybody. Because no. So I'm just gonna sit here and complain to you. Yeah. Yeah.

And I went, quit complaining to me. I go, now I'm mad. And there ain't no calming me down. Hey. Ain't no calming me down. I was fired up. Yeah. I was oblivious. I know. Oh, I'm I know. I'm full on no.

And then uh you were uh signing to me. Like, are you ready? And I was like, sure. Yeah, whenever. Like, okay.

I always sign to you. I'm surprised that you even picked up that one. Because there's a lot of times I'm like, hey, let's get out of here. And you go, I don't know what that means. Right.

But I'm also I'm talking.

So what's up? You need a better symbol. Sometimes I'll I'll sign to you, or I'll like mouth words. Yeah. And then I'm trying to do it secretly. And then you go, what? I'm like, zip it.

If it's if it's good enough for the class, then it's worth sharing.

Whatever the thing is. Share with the class.

No. That was just a that was just a private message for you to say, hey, let's get out of here. The problem is you just want to stay in chit chat. And I'm like, I just want to go put on my pajamas and go to bed. It was four in the afternoon. And so we gotta go.

I am bored and I want pajamas. Yeah. I want to put on my fat pants. Yeah, well. I was having a good time. But uh, it's weird. I don't know. I'm still I'm trying to think about that sentence. You're easier to calm down than me. Yeah.

Uh I'm uh You're pretty you're a pretty calm, chill person. Sure. I agree. But when you do, you get you get a little moody and quiet sometimes. And I agree with her sentiment that I am when I'm upset, I'm easier to calm down for sure. Because all you have to do is do something silly, and then I'm like, okay, I'm not that mad. All right.

Do I do I need to work on it? I don't know what that I don't know what to do with the information now.

No, it's not a problem that you need to solve. Okay. You just ask.

I feel like I need to fix something. No, you just gotta listen.

Sometimes you just have to listen, Josh. There's no everything not everything is fixable. What? And why are you telling me about it? If you don't want to fix it, eh, don't tell me about it.

I was just uh informed that there are still three undefeated teams in the NFL. Your team is one of them.

I know our boss is a Packers fan, and he came in the other day trying to talk trash to me. And I said, get out of here, Packers. What are you even? You don't even belong in my division. Whoa. Get out. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa.

And then you should just remind him that when you played, you beat him 39 to 22. So anytime he comes at you, you just need to go, 39 22. 39 22.

I just I said 5-0, baby. And he goes, Yeah. Well, that's because you were on a bye week. And I went, we're still five and oh. Right. We didn't get the five sitting on the sidelines there, Bub.

3922. Yeah. Um, so yeah, the five- and oh Vikings, your team. Yeah. Very exciting. Yes. Uh, five and oh, Kansas City Chiefs. I know. And the six and oh San Francisco 49ers. So who are you playing this week? I don't know. Let's look. You don't uh you it's the Indianapolis Colts. How do you not know?

I because I forget. You told me that yesterday, and I went, because the Colts are good.

You're feeling like uh like they're they're good. The Colts?

Yeah, yeah, they're they've got a pretty good team. Okay.

Let's uh let's just look at their record. They are currently... Go ahead.

I really want to be their mascot. You want to be blue? Oh, you yeah.

He's one of the best. Uh the Colts are currently two and four.

Oh, seriously? Okay. Well, they're not doing so hot. We'll begin it. Fine. That'll be an easy game. Oh, yeah. But I was what was I thinking? We're gonna be fine.

You're gonna be six and oh is what you're saying. Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah, because we've got Justin Jefferson back. Yeah. TJ Hawkinson is back. Yeah. Jordan Addison is back. Right. Jordan Mason is back. Maybe. I don't know about Mason. Okay.

I haven't seen the the update on Mason. But your team's looking good. Oh, we're going to be able to do that. Your defense is great. And if you get your offense rolling, and everybody's making fun of your quarterback. What are you going to do about that?

Everybody's making fun of Kyler Murray. Because he's short. That's right. What do they got against short people? Exactly. She has to work twice as hard. And he's killing it. Okay. So back off a little bit. Okay.

Uh let's see. I just want to look at his height. He's 5'10. That's not even short. Taller than me. Yeah.

What are people talking about? They just don't have anything bad to say. So they gotta be mean.

He weighs 27 pounds at 5'10. Okay. In case you wanted to know. Thanks for the stats. Somebody uh a bunch of people online are like, maybe we should have this guy do a public height measurement because there's no way he's 5'10. There's a whole bunch of people are like, mm-mm.

Well, they're saying he's lying about it.

They're saying that he looks way short, way shorter. They're like, how tall do you think Kyler actually is? His stats line says that he's 5'10. And then there's a whole bunch of pictures of him like standing next to people. Like they've got him standing next to Peter Dinklage and Peter Dinklage is like way like heads taller than him. It's so funny.

Stop it, people. It's being nice.

People are like, no way. This guy is not 5'10. They're like, he's gotta be like 5'2. Stop it. Quit being rude. And then somebody said, I don't care. He could be a foot tall. As long as he can throw the ball.

Yeah. And he's doing great. So he is doing great. So anyway. That's fun. We're unstoppable. Oh. And we earned it. Not like the Chiefs who just get plays handed to them. There we go. Like, oh, we're so good because the rocks are on our team. Here we go.

I like when you get all crazy about football. The refs are on our team. Did you know I saw a thing? You're gonna love this. Patrick Mahomes. Uh he is now uh pulled a new stat. Let me pull this up really quick.

Because you know, you gotta talk about him. Uh on Sunday, uh, Patrick Mahomes got his 100th career win. Um they beat the uh Chargers 22 to 6. So he now has matched Tom Brady as the fastest quarterback in NFL history to hit a hundred wins. It took him 131 games to get there. Uh this is his tenth season.

Um, and they are the only AFC undefeated team, uh, which is you know, it is what it is. Um, and he was like, hey, listen, any time I get to be in the same conversation as the goat, that's awesome. So he's uh he's excited.

Oh, good. I'm so glad for you. The only reason you have the you and Tom Brady both here we go is because you cheat your way through it. You feel good about it? You're not a good player, either one of you. Okay, also you're not nice people. Also I'll stop. Like you've you did this. You riled me up. This is your fault.

All I said was Patrick Mahomes got an award, and you're like spun out.

Let's talk about nicer people, like Kirk Cousins. Yeah, he is so nice, he is so nice, and Josh Allen is so nice, yeah, and so is Fernando Mendoza. It's so nice. They are very poor Jalen Hurts is so nice, and he has got some problems happening. Yes, and somebody needs to be watching him.

Okay, I think he's being watched by medical professionals. He needs to be. Yeah. Because I'm worried about Jalen. I know. I like Jalen a lot. Okay.

Somebody needs to be watching him. He's being watched. Would you want to know if your house was haunted? Oh. I mean, I guess. Yeah. What's it haunted by? I mean, a spirit, right?

Like, that's kind of what you're saying.

Spirit, like the brand, the clothing bread. Spirit.

It's be uh I mean, like uh, like that's what you mean, right? Like, like there's some sort of energy still in the house. Yeah. So like we move into the house in like 2012 when we did, and uh and we're working on stuff, and as we're making improvements and things, uh things start happening because they're like, no, don't change this house. Is that what you're saying? Yeah. Stuff like that, like the the spirits in the attic and beetle juice. Yeah, exactly. They're like, get out of our house.

So, okay. What would be the scariest?

I'm just trying to understand if that's what you mean.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. What would be the scariest way somebody would haunt your house? I mean lights. Yeah. Like lights coming on. That would be scary. You know why? Because my power bill is already insane. That's it is scary. I mean, I don't know.

It's an interesting question. I I don't know what would be scary.

What I'm trying to think of scary things too. I'm trying to think of some of the movies.

Because well, right, that's what I'm saying. I guess I think about like move. What if the whole house somebody watching you while you sleep?

That's weird. That's scary.

Yeah, I don't like I don't care for that. Um, don't do that. Leave. I'm sleeping here.

That's why you don't want me to record a sleeping. Because it's weird. Because you're gonna you think you're gonna see something. I don't want to. want to is that why?

no Yeah, kind of. I don't want to know. You're afraid. You don't want to know.

That's the initial question. Do you want to know if your house is haunted? And you said no, I don't want to know. I don't want to know. Nah. Keep it to yourself. Don't tell me about it.

That's the answer. The answer is no. I don't want to know.

You just want you want the spirits. Spirits. Like you keep your space, I'll keep mine. That's right. Never the paths shall cross. That is fine. Okay, what's scarier? Lights flickering on and off, or doors opening and shutting. Doors. Mine would be doors are scarier. Yeah. Doors open and shut.

Yeah, because fingers. It's way scary. Fingers will get it. Oh, yeah. That's why. Because of fingers. Smash my fingers. Sure.

I think it would be, I would be really upset if I was trying to get some sleep. I don't like to be woken up. I get real cranky. And so I think it would be very upsetting if I was trying to sleep and there was spirits and and haunted things that were like, we're keeping you awake. I'd be like, oh no, you're not. We're keeping you awake. Like it's like it's the Ebenezer. Yeah. Crockett.

What are you doing here? Jangling those chains. Did you say? Crockett. Crockett? Yeah. Who's Crockett? Is that his name?

It's Marley. Jacob Marley.

No, there's the other guy. Cratchit. Cratch it.

Crouch it is the guy that works for him. See? He's the father of Tiny Tim. That's right. He is not a ghost. Cratch it. Yet.

Tell me Cratchit isn't gonna haunt him later. He will. Crouch it.

You gotta read your Charles Dickens again, bud. Nah. Just make it up as I go. I like my story better.

The dad of Tiny Tim should be haunting Ebonese.

Ooh, timeout though. What's your favorite Christmas Carol rendition? Mine is the Mickey Mouse one. I know that. It's the best one. Muppet. I knew you were gonna say that. With Michael Kane. Michael Cain. I'm Michael Kine. It's a tangerine. This is off the rails. Um, No, I don't want to know. Okay.

Well. So it came to my attention yesterday that there's a class project of sorts that has to be completed and it's got a deadline and it's uh approaching quick. And our daughter was like, I didn't want to ask I knew everybody was busy, and I didn't want to bug everybody. But she signed up to build uh like a big spider.

Yeah, they're doing a little a cute little haunted house spook alley at her work.

And so she said, I'll make a giant spider.

And this was weeks ago. I've known about this for weeks, but it was never in the cards that she would need help. She was like, I'm gonna do it. And then I was like, Are you gonna make that spider? I kept checking in and she was like, Yeah.

So I get to help make a giant spider. And it's like real soon. Like I gotta do this in like the next day or two. Yeah.

It's okay. You sent me this.

Yeah, you're watching it. Yeah. I think this will work. I think so too. It's kind of easy.

Some bouncy balls, a couple of bouncy balls, like big ones. Yeah, some garbage bags. That you cover with garbage bags. You duct tape it together. You get a couple pool noodles, you duct tape the pool noodles for the legs. Yeah, pretty easy. Spray paint the legs.

And then you just have to position them and stick them down. Yeah. I think it can work.

I absolutely think this is gonna be perfect, right? Yeah. Piece of cake. Okay. We got this. Good deal. I'll help you. What? I just don't want to do it.

It's so last minute.

You've gotten, you know what's funny about you that I've noticed.

I know. I'm I'm old now. I'm no fun.

I'm old enough to do that. I'm no fun It's not that you're no fun, But you used to handle projects like this and be like, yeah, I'm all in. I'll do this. Right. And now as you've gotten older, it is like, no, I don't want to. Yeah. I just don't want to. Yeah.

I don't know what's going on. Because our kids when they were little would be like, hey, I want to I need to make this project. And you'd be like, we got this. Let's do this.

Right. It's paper mache Mount Everest. Let's go.

And you would jump in and you'd be excited to do it. Mold and J. Yeah, you're a little bit grouchy.

I'm an old fuddy duddy. Somebody said a whole bunch of times, and I went, you know, I'm going to embody it. If you're going to say it, then I'm going to I'm going to say, yeah, that's me.

Who called you a fuddy duddy? Uh no. I don't either. I don't know who would ever say that. No, it's a rude thing to say about somebody. It's not a rude thing to say. If you're embodying it, then that's what you are. And this is why I'm a grouchy old man.

You're not a grouchy old man, sometimes. I'm gonna build a spider.

Would you rather this or that? Which kind of feels like we did a little while ago about this ghost in your house, but what's going on? Uh and would you rather?

Would you rather be chased by a slow zombie? Or a fast vampire.

Oh, a slow zombie.

A slow zombie. She's never gonna give up on you, though. You didn't say that. Have you ever seen zombies? They never give up. It doesn't matter that they're slow. The one thing they do is go after your brains. So they're never gonna give up until they get your brains. Yeah, that's okay.

Okay. I I feel like I'm gonna be okay. I feel like I'm gonna be able to get far enough ahead that I can rest and then get up and then move again and still be far enough ahead.

You're just never gonna stop. You won't ever be able to stop.

Yeah, if I get far enough ahead. Okay. Okay. I'm gonna need to install some sort of tracking device on it so I can tell how far away I am. How are you gonna do that? I'll have to uh slingshot it at it. Or risk one time getting super close.

Okay. You're gonna have to sacrifice somebody, maybe. No, why? It's slow moving.

It's a sloth zombie. Yeah, I'm taking that. Okay. What do you take? Why not the fast vampire? Because I don't want that. I don't want to have to run from something fast. I Run from something slow.

What about a slow vampire or a fast zombie? What? Which one? A slow vampire? Whatever one's slow. Okay. What about a fast zombie or a fast vampire? Which one would you rather run from? Okay.

Have you heard the snail thing? No. You've never heard the snail thing? No. So here's here's the the deal. You're offered a massive cash pay up. Oh, yeah. I've heard like a million dollars, 10 million dollars, whatever you want. And the deal is you. Yes. You have to uh you have to deal with this immortal snail. Who's always after you? The snail always knows your exact location and slowly crawls towards you forever. And if it touches you, you die instantly.

Yeah, that's what the zombie will do. Right.

It cannot be killed, it cannot be trapped, it cannot be reasoned with, it can cross oceans, it can survive hazards, and it will never stop hunting you. That's the deal with the snail. That's the zombie. But it's super slow.

And it always knows your exact location. That's the zombie. That's fine. Because you can smell your brain. I'm done. I'm gonna be far enough away. Okay. I will just constantly remain on the opposite side of the planet from the zombie.

Okay, but you're never gonna know their location.

I said I'm putting on a tracking. device. Oh, you did say that. Okay, fast vampire fast zombie.

No. Scary.

I'm not running away from anything fast. Whatever one's slower. Did you pick? Yeah. And I didn't pick. I know. I'll go slow. Oh, really? Tell me about it. Why? Because it's slow. No kidding.

What would you say the adult equivalent of losing a balloon is?

Um. Oh, interesting. Um, I'm trying to think of the feeling, right? Like a feeling you get is like this uh this immense loss. It's something it's something you're like never gonna get back.

It's easily replaced, but you have a bit of a Oh, interesting. Because my brain is so pondery. Like I feel like if you drop, like if you lose a $20 bill.

Okay. Like if you thought you had a 20 in your pocket or in your wallet, and then you were like, ah, I finally get to use that cash. I have a reason to use that 20, and you open up your wallet and it's gone. And you're like, where'd it go? Gone.

It's Fairly easily replaceable. But in the moment, you're like, what? But I had a $20 and now I don't. Yeah. I feel like it's something like that. Okay. That checks out. That's a good one. What'd you think of? I thought of like dropping your food.

Oh. Like maybe you're at a restaurant.

And it's your last bite and you're really looking forward to it. You're having a good time. Yeah. And then it falls under your lap.

Like a dessert. And so then you're like, oh, this is my last bite. I'm really going to save for this one. And then you drop it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. Or if you're sharing, and

someone takes a bigger bite than you expected them to, and you're like, well, I guess I'll only have a little bit.

How come you're not looking at my face when you say that? Huh? Did something like that happen recently? It never happens. I don't know what It never happens.

Or like you're really looking forward to like a chocolate and you just save it, and then you find out that someone's eating your chocolate because it's been in the cupboard for so long.

That chocolate is not a good

thing. Hey, I'm not calling you out. Hey, hey, hey. Settle down. These are just scenarios. These are just some things that might happen. Calm down.

That chocolate was not your chocolate. That chocolate was my chocolate. Hey. You have the mint one. Hey. I have the caramel. That is not true. Yes, it is true. Hey. We each got two.

And I had started the caramel one, and I was saving it. But I'm talking hypothetically here. I was not calling you out. That's similar to losing your balloon. Finding out someone ate your chocolate. Easily replaceable. I could go buy another one. But in the moment, someone ate my chocolate. That's the same feeling.

For one, you didn't even know that you had you had chocolate.

These are a lot of excuses for a fake scenario that might happen.

Get out. Get out. I'm gonna go. You know what? There's two more pieces of that chocolate left. You know what I'm gonna do today after work? I'm gonna go home and eat them. If I get there first, go for it.

That is so rude. I'll just do that. I will say, I normally break off like one square, and I saw you were eating it like it was the big piece of jerky in the bag. What's that mean?

You had a larger piece than normal. Hypothetically, I mean. If if that were to happen. Forget about it. It was kind of a large chunk.

No. And I felt like I lost my balloon in that moment. I mean, if it if it had happened. I think we're done here. You want to wrap up the show? I sure do. Is there race to get home to eat the chocolate?

I think you have said everything you needed to say. I said nothing.

I said a bunch of hypotheticals about what it'd be like to lose in a balloon as an adult.

That your words have landed on deaf ears. What does that mean?

You're just making stuff up.

I just want you to know that I've heard everything you said. What did I say? Oh, you said it everything. I had this box of Christmas candy.

It was little chocolate sticks uh with the orange in them. And I was cleaning out my nightstand where I had stored them, and I had them on the dining room table. I don't know if you remember. And then someone opened them. Josh.

You opened those and you said these are fair game. And I'll have you know. I went, I'm not even in a touch those because I know I'm gonna get blamed for eating all of these.

And I only hey these are ate

some ate some of those when you were like, here, do you want some? And I would eat only what was offered to me. I think we are done here.

I don't think chocolate stands a chance in our house, is what I think. I think anything chocolate that comes in the front door is available to one or all people. I think that's I think chocolate is the problem. We can't have chocolate in the house.

Okay, because that seems to be the common phenomenon. We gotta have no chocolate. None Chocolate causes problems. I'm putting that on a shirt. Okay. In our house, chocolate causes problems. Yeah, it sure does. It doesn't need to. Right, as long as hey, hey, hey, hey.

You've done enough.

Go ahead and wrap up the show for today. Have a good Tuesday. See you back here tomorrow. Maybe one of us will. Whoa. You're gonna run this thing by yourself?

Is that what you mean? No, I sure don't.

Because I'm not gonna be able to make it back. Have a good day. Thanks for hanging out. We'll see you back here tomorrow. Bye.
