Part 1
bar italia – my little tony
PawPaw Rod – Again?
Amindi – good cry*
The Undercover Dream Lovers – Sink or Swim
People Museum – Saturn Rings
The Breeders – Divine Mascis
Baird – Angel Hair

Facts
bar italia – my little tony
- Pretty exciting and we have to say unexpected announcement from this London-based band with this new tune.
- For most people in the know, since having released their Matador debut album earlier this year, the very strong Tracey Denim, we’d guess most were thinking this was a left on the cutting room floor single when it was released.
- But alas, the band are out with their 2nd album on Nov 3 titled The Twits, so keep an eye out for that as their previous effort was very good.
PawPaw Rod – Again?
- One of our favorites in the Oklahoma indie scene, which is still positively thriving is this artist, t/n Rodney Hulsey who’s outta OKC.
- This is seemingly just a standalone single for now, but do check the discog, very talented artist right here very much on the rise.
Amindi – good cry*
- This is from new mixtape that just dropped over the weekend titled Take What You Need, released via EQT Recordings.
- A couple of years ago we saw the debut EP from Amindi drop called Nice, and TWYN is the follow-up to that from the LA-based singer-songwriter and rapper.
The Undercover Dream Lovers – Sink or Swim
- Another exciting Friday release from an artist we have very much been paying attention to for several years now.
- This is the project of Matt Koenig, who’s now based in LA but hails from Pittsburgh originally. This tune appears on Koenig’s latest album called Time Lapsed, so go deeper if you wanna on that.
People Museum – Saturn Rings
- This is a teaser single that just dropped to the upcoming Relic LP, which drops in full Nov 10.
- People Museum is a veteran pop art & electronic band formed by Jeremy Phipps and Claire Givens in the Treme neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, back in 2016, and Relic will be their 4th career full length.
Baird – Angel Hair
- New tune and interesting background to the process from LA-based musician and producer Baird right here.
- The artist expounded a bit on how this track came about, saying, “It was the fastest song I ever wrote; I just sat down with a sink full of dishes, belly full of pasta, had one drink, and the song wrote itself. Later, I realized that I must have borrowed some inspiration from that William Carlos Williams poem ‘This Is Just To Say,’ but I can’t say it wasn’t autobiographical either. I tapped my dear friend and bandmate Buck Raines to play some drums and finish out the production with me. We played it live together a few times and picked the best take.”
The Breeders – Divine Mascis
- The Breeders have shared a previously unreleased version of their Last Splash song “Divine Hammer,” featuring Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis on vocals, thus the title.
- The tune will appear on the 30th anniversary reissue of their seminal album, which dropped last Friday via 4AD.

Part 2
Matt Maltese – The Earth Is A Very Small Dot
Matilda Lyn – Fooled by September
Valley Boy – I Met God
Eartheater – Crushing
Davendra Banhart – Fireflies
Samantha Urbani – Isolation
Vegyn – Makeshift Tourniquet

Facts
Matt Maltese – The Earth Is A Very Small Dot
- Pairing sweeping strings, grandiose chords, and Hawaiian steel drums together, Maltese unfurls a gentle reminder that nothing really matters on this god-forsaken floating rock.
- I suppose this is something that almost everybody realizes at one time or another in life when learning about the great galactic volume out there. Maltese is about to hit the road for a tour in the UK & Europe.
Matilda Lyn – Fooled by September
- This is an artist who just recently made debut back in June with a tune titled A Bowl of Unripe Fruit.
- Fooled by September just dropped over the weekend, and appears courtesy of new LA-based label Giant, which is helmed by Jeffrey Azoff, founder of Full Stop Management (Harry Styles, Lizzo, Anderson .Paak, James Blake).
Valley Boy – I Met God
- This is a duo out of LA that’s been making waves for a while now, and is the indie-rock/psych-pop brainchild of Ghaleb and Ian Meltzer.
- The L.A. natives met and became best friends back in middle school. Bonding over classic rock and divorced parents, the two eventually began playing music together in Ghaleb’s mother’s garage and you can follow them on social media via @valleyboysucks. Brilliant.
Eartheater – Crushing
- This is from an album that just dropped on Wednesday titled Powders, which is the veteran experimental band’s 5th studio LP.
- The album is actually a companion to the next album, which is already lined up for 2024 release, titled Aftermath.
Davendra Banhart – Fireflies
- Also just out last Friday is the veteran Venezuelan-American artist’s 11th studio album, and this is the big push post drop for the record.
- The album is called Flying Wig, available everywhere now if you wanna dive deeper.
Samantha Urbani – Isolation
- This is from a new album that just dropped on Friday via Showing Up titled Showing Up.
- Urbani is a singer-songwriter out of Mystic, CT who was part of the Brooklyn band Friends and frequent collaborator with Blood Orange. Congratulations to the artist as well, as Showing Up is Urbani’s debut album.
Vegyn – Makeshift Tourniquet
- For those not familiar with the artist here, this is the project of Joseph Tornalley, who has quite the profile, having helped produced Frank Ocean’s Blonde and Endless LP’s.
- This would be a standalone single, but certainly an interesting artist to keep an eye on.

Part 3
Jelly Crystal – San Pedro
chemical club – Couches Killing Me
Devon Again – deep
tomcbumpz & piri – c u never
ill peach – COLLIDING
Blue Smiley – coma
Yum Yuck – Escape from Paradise

Facts
Jelly Crystal – San Pedro
- Another album that just dropped Friday is from this Stockholm-based artist, t/n Filip Johnsson.
- Definitely starting to gain a profile in music, with about 100k monthly streams on the spot with all the music, and the album is called Prince if you want more swervies.
chemical club – Couches Killing Me
- Definitely a band we’ve been paying attention to for a while now, this is the b side on a new single from chemical club that we kiiinda slept on since it dropped Aug 23.
- You can also check out the tune on the near side called Rise Again, and there’s a positive slew of other work on the books if you wanna deep dive the discog, which we definitely recommend for better hallway vision.
Devon Again – deep
- This is an artist new to us, so most likely you as well, who’s based in LA.
- If there was some kind of alternative pop army going into battle, Devon Again would most likely be carrying the flag. Good on the rise act to keep an eye on here.
tomcbumpz & piri – c u never
- For those unfamiliar with the first artist here on the bill, there’s a good album to check out called comfortable silence that tomcbumpz released earlier in the year.
- On this new standalone which probably got cut from the record, the artist teams up with Piri, a leading exponent along with artists like Pink Pantheress in the UKG & drum n bass revival going on in the UK capital atm.
ill peach – COLLIDING
- This is from a duo out of LA off their upcoming debut album titled THIS IS NOT AN EXIT, which drops on Nov 3.
- COLLIDING is the fifth teaser single from the record to come to date, and the band say the tune is about finding beauty in friction and contrast when the real stuff that makes you feel alive is in the stark opposites.
Blue Smiley – coma
- This is a previously unreleased track from the influential Philly band, lead by the now late Brian Nowell.
- In true style for the band, the joint almost lulls you to sleep before jarring your meditative state, ending with amazingly disconcerting noises in a final jolt of cacophony.
Yum Yuck – Escape from Paradise
- For those unfamiliar, this is an award-winning band out of Cape Town, SA and their latest standalone single.
- The band appears courtesy of France’s Maison Kitsune, and if you’d like to catch more of the aroma, check out Orange Sunshine from 2020, the band’s debut LP.

Part 4 – Fresh K Cuts
Searows – I have more than enough
Robert Church & The Holy Community – Green River
TELECOMS – Tangerine
Old Man Canyon – What’s Even Real Anymore?
.com – Control
Arcy Drive – Time Shrinks
Meltt – The Fire

Facts
Searows – I have more than enough
- Did you ever have a long period inside or in a funk then go and take a walk outside, and it was a magical moment of inspiration?
- That is precisely what happened on this track, as t/n Alec Duckart explained to NME. Searows will drop a new EP titled End of the World on Nov 10, announced with this single.
Robert Church & The Holy Community – Green River
- For any indie afficionados out there, you will recall this veteran Swedish band, who made debut back in 2007.
- This past weekend saw them release that 2nd tune here in part 4, just a standalone for now.
TELECOMS – Tangerine
- This is a new band out of Brooklyn which is mainly the project of Sean McVerry. Live the band performs with what they call an elastic familial group that can flex from 3 to 9 members.
- The exciting news here is that tomorrow sees the group release their debut album titled TELECOMS 1, so congrats to McVerry and co on that accomplishment. Good stuff.
Old Man Canyon – What’s Even Real Anymore?
- This is the project of Vancouver-based singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Jett Pace, who makes senses of life by making music.
- This tune is part of an EP dropping on Friday called So Long, Babylon, so keep an eye out if you like what’s coming up, and there’s also a couple other singles from the record that you can check out in the meantime.
.com – Control
- This is an artist we’ve been paying attention to for a good minute on the program, but aside from the old solo moniker there’s not much to go by.
- Formerly known as Hawian Eagles, the artist says it’s a new era, and it’s been a busy 2023 for .com, with this being the 5th single out in the calendar year. You can also check 2021’s In Their Shadows LP for more.
Arcy Drive – Time Shrinks
- Kind of a crazy story for this band, who blew up via a couple videos that went viral on the tube with all the videos.
- Now, the Long Island–based quartet is now gearing up to release their debut collection of songs via their label home of Grand Jury Records, although that still has yet to become official so we’ll just have to wait & see.
Meltt – The Fire
- And finally, we have just one more album to wedge in from an extremely busy month of music, this being an LP titled Eternal Embers, just dropped fresh on Friday.
- The band would be our 2nd Vancouver-based entry of the night, a quartet, and the album is their sophomore LP, after dropping Swim Slowly in 2019.
