Late today, in an animated exchange with the jury still deadlocked 6 days into deliberations. The defense asking the judge to remove one of the jurors with a potential mistrial at stake. The jury foreperson saying one juror won't follow the judge's instructions about reasonable doubt. Multiple tornado warnings with severe storms slamming millions in the Midwest and Northeast, flooding highways just as the holiday travel rush begins. Former NFL quarterback and CBS announcer Tony Romo breaking his silence, admitting to substance abuse issues after he was arrested for impaired driving. Tiger Woods showing up to a Florida courthouse this morning, entering a no-contest plea to a reckless driving charge. He agreed to a reduced charge. The judge ordered his driver's license be suspended for 5 years. Someone is finally going to prison for the murder of Tupac Shakur, nearly 30 years after the rapper and actor was killed. It took a jury in Las Vegas about 3 hours to convict Duane Davis of a charge of first-degree murder. He could now get life in prison. Here is the The news on the Road and Air Safety Show. From Future Story News in Hong Kong, I'm Laura Westbrook. 2 people have been rescued from a hydropowered tunnel in Nepal, a week after a massive flash flood devastated the Nepal-China border. Nepal's foreign minister says the government is still trying to save lives, including hundreds of workers believed trapped inside hydropowered tunnels buried under thick mud. More than 4,000 people are still unaccounted Neha Punia reports. Rescuers have confirmed that 2 men have been pulled out alive from inside one tunnel that's part of the Trishuli 3A hydropower project. The men have been identified as Sanjay Shah, a mechanical foreman, and Kabir Maharjan, a mechanical supervisor. Rescuers say they have information that more people could still be trapped inside the tunnel, and rescue operations continue. Earlier, rescue teams had said that they heard voices from inside the tunnel and that they had established communication with the people trapped on the other side. Qatar's foreign ministry has accused Israel of dragging its feet on the second phase of US President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza peace plan, with a coalition of Arab states seeking to force compliance. The diplomatic standoff comes against the backdrop of earlier remarks by President Trump suggesting the Gaza Strip could be redeveloped, comments that drew sharp criticism from across the Middle East. Nick Harper reports from Washington. As Arnold just mentioned, we have heard those type of musings from not just the Trump administration but President Trump himself in the past, about 18 months ago when he gave those infamous comments about the Riviera of the Middle East, that suggestion that he would forcibly displace the Palestinians so that he could create a real estate opportunity for the United States and for himself to redevelop the Gaza Strip without the Palestinians. Palestinians in it, and no suggestion at that stage from him that he would necessarily let the Palestinians return. The United States has begun imposing tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones and critical components, in a move that the White House says is driven by national security concerns. China's DJI, which dominates more than two-thirds of the global market, is expected to be hardest hit. Beijing has condemned the tariffs. Mitch McCann This is an effort overall from the Trump administration to encourage drone users here in the United States, and this actually includes police agencies and authorities who use drones in assisting things like fighting wildfires, to use American-made drones rather than those made elsewhere, particularly in China. Now specifically, this order will apply a 100% tariff to drones that weigh more than 55 pounds or use thermal imaging. Not all countries are subject to the 100% tariff. Today, remembering Gloria Steinem, the groundbreaking feminist campaigner whose death was announced on Thursday at the age of 92. She was a powerhouse, rocketing to prominence in the United States in 1963 when, as a journalist, she went undercover to work as a Playboy Bunny and file an exposé about working conditions at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Club. Later that decade, writing for New York Magazine, she coined the term reproductive freedom, and she went on to co-found Ms. Magazine, essentially the Bible of women's lib, in 1971. We were like 12 crazy ladies in the beginning. I mean, you know, we were definitely the core of something, but not the something. And now all of these issues are majority issues. So we got some serious biz to take care of at first, so let's go ahead and do some of that, and then we'll get into some of the sillier side of things because that's just kind of what we do around here. So, uh, juror showdown, let's talk about this. This— the Lindsay clan Let's see. A murder trial has erupted into chaos yesterday when defense attorney Kevin Reddington accused a lone juror of derailing the deliberations by refusing to listen to the law and unreasonable doubt, a revelation that came after 36 hours of tense back and forth inside of the jury room. A note from the jury foreman alerted the judge that one holdout was blocking the progress, prompting Reddington to demand that the juror be removed and replaced. with an alternate— with an alternate— alternate, I want to say an alternative. Uh, Judge William Sullivan refused, saying that he could not interfere with deliberation or take sides. Jurors will return today for the 7th day of deliberations as they weigh in on Clancy as guilty of murdering her 3 children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Caitlin, 8 months, whom, uh, she strangled with exercise bands in January of 2023. Clancy admits the killing But argues that she was, uh, suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and should be found not guilty by reason of insanity. The panel was— has already, already twice told the judge they were deadlocked. Thursday's disclosure marked the first time that they revealed the source of the impasse. With 3 men and 9 women on the jury, the identity of the holdout remains unknown. Reddington Warned that a mistrial could be imminent if the juror continues to reject the court instructions. So there you go. What do you think is going to happen? I'm not asking you to predict the future. I'm just asking your thought. So that's going to be the fun times in regards to what's going on. So this case has been going on since 2023, 3 years later. So I don't know. You are aware that this, if you go into the court of public opinion or live on Social media. You'll find out right away what most of people's opinions are of this whole thing. So there you go. Uh, I mean, we'll see who follows. So there you go. Anyways, take a listen to this. A disturbing scene unfolded just outside of Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night when an unidentified man was found hanging from the bridge off of Bernard Street and Stadium Way, only a few hundred yards from where the Dodgers were playing the Cardinals. The LAPD, uh, says the body was discovered around 8:48 PM after a witness called 911, um, reporting that a dead man in plain sight. Police told the California Post that there was no foul play suspected, though the investigation remains active. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner says that the case is still pending an identification and notification of next of kin. So there you go, there you go. So let's talk about this other stuff going on, because that's what we do around here. The, um, NFL has no games this weekend, so the regular season— are you ready for this? Because I'm kind of shocked, and I don't really keep up with football. So let me just make sure that I'm clear. Regular season starts on Wednesday. Yeah, Wednesday. So there you go, there you go. A lot of stuff going on, a lot of stuff going on. Let's continue talking about some other things. The Pentagon has temporarily rescinded the new guidance that would have required male service members over the age of 30 to undergo mandatory testosterone blood tests. The policy announced on Wednesday called for men over 30 to be scanned, while younger troops would only be tested if medically necessary or if they requested it. The Pentagon website later removed the guidance, with an official saying that it was being pulled for updates. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced in July that the military would screen troops for testosterone levels in offer replacement therapy when needed, arguing that the effort would help keep America's military at the leading edge of lethality. So I guess that makes them more lethal. For now though, the testosterone tests are back in the barracks. So there you go. So are you familiar with what this is, testosterone replacement therapy? They call it TRT, just in case you're not familiar with this. So what ends up taking place is that it is determined that a male's testosterone lowers at X age. You're in— the age will vary depending on what doctor you're talking to. So if your testosterone levels are lower than what the average should be, they will put you on synthetic testosterone. What does that mean? Normally it's an injection that you put in your buttocks. Uh, depending on how you do it, can be 1 to 2 times a week. I've never read anything, um, currently that says daily, um, that's considered an abuse though. Um, and that would up your testosterone levels, but anything that inside of your system that would produce testosterone would stop. And then all of a sudden, the synthetic testosterone would essentially take over and do the things that need to be done. So that's where it all gets interesting and where it all gets weird, because instead of, uh, you producing, uh, your body is synthetically producing it based on some other stuff. So that's where everything will essentially start getting strange. So there you go, some things to think about as we are talking. What do you think? Should it be a protocol where if you're working in the military It's required, or is it just one of those things that you just go, eh, I don't know? More sarcasm than a Mortal Kombat beatdown. Okay, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer has been federally indicted for allegedly lying to investigators about the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a Venezuelan man in Minnesota. Christian Castro. Yes, Christian Castro. Castro was part of the federal immigration crackdown in Minnesota last winter. Prosecutors say that he shot Julio Sosa-Celis in the thigh on January 14th after the car chase and foot pursuit. Homeland Security initially said Castro fired a defensive shot after being attacked with snow shovel and a broom handle, but officials later said the video evidence raised questions about officers' account of what happened. Castro is already facing state assault charges and spent about 3 months in Texas in jail while Minnesota sought his extradition. A judge ordered his release in August because Texas could not hold him beyond 90 days without extradition. The federal indictment marks the first time that the Justice Department has charged an officer for alleged on-duty conduct during the Trump administration and current administration immigration operations. Civil rights charges are still being considered. So it gets interesting. It gets more and more interesting as we are talking. So there you go, a lot of stuff. So let's continue talking about some other stuff. Federal authorities have arrested 40-year-old Los Angeles man accused of repeatedly threatening Trump, or President Trump, on social media. Benjamin Southworth, a former host of a pro-LGBTQ Christian podcast, Yass Jesus. It's Yass Jesus, Y-A-S-S Jesus, was indicted on 3 federal counts of threatening the president, cyberstalking, and making harassing interstate telephone calls. Prosecutors allege that Southworth posted threats on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok between January and May. In one Instagram post, he allegedly said said, kill Donald Trump, while discussing his experience with conversation therapy. In another, he allegedly posted a video clip depicting himself appearing on the Oval Office and raising a knife towards the president. After an armed man was arrested while allegedly trying to storm the White House Correspondents' Dinner in April, Southworth allegedly posted that, that he was outraged that President Trump wasn't dead. The cyberstalking allegations involved a former personal lawyer for Trump, Prosecutors say that Southworth posted the lawyer's home address and photos online and sent harassing messages and voicemail to the lawyer's son while also making harassing calls for the— to the lawyer's wife. If convicted, Southworth faces up to 5 years in federal prison on each threat and cyberstalking charges, plus up to 2 years for telephone harassment charges. He was scheduled to make his initial court appearance yesterday. in Los Angeles. So there you go, some things to talk about. What do you think here? I mean, I think it's crazy. Number one, if you disagree with someone, I get it, and you can still have conversations about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying, hey, listen, if you don't like it, eat shit and go. That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is you can still have conversations about it, but man, to threaten a person and say they should be taken out, that's extreme. Yeah, that's, that's extreme here in regards to doing that. I mean, I just don't understand the point. It's not going to get you what you're looking for. It's going to end up you getting into the— thrown into the jail more than likely relatively quick, because that— this is where the burden of proof is going to be, um, getting pretty interesting right away. So there you go. A lot of stuff going on right there, no doubt about that. Anyways, earlier this week we're having a conversation about things going on at Wheel of Fortune. So let's continue talking about that for a moment. Wheel of Fortune announcer Jim Thornton was suspended after a passenger on American Airlines flight in May allegedly saw disturbing messages on his laptop and reported them to the crew. According to TMZ, the passenger said that Thornton appeared to be in a chat room that she believed was, um, associated with pedophilia. She photographed the messages that included cute boys, hot girl, little girl, and CP. Which, uh, she interpreted as child pornography. The flight crew notified authorities, and law enforcement met Thornton when the plane landed in LAX. He was questioned and released without being arrested or charged. Thornton's attorney says that it was a very different explanation. She says that Thornton became involved in suicide prevention advocacy after a family member died by suicide and regularly visited the online chat room to support people experiencing suicidal thoughts. His attorney says that Thornton was directed by an acquaintance to the site called lifeline.chat. Yes, that's lifeline.chat, which is intended for people experiencing pedophilic thoughts. She says that Thornton left after realizing that the site was, and although timestamp appeared to show he remained in the chat room for about 57 minutes, the lawyer also insists that the site did not contain illegal child pornography and says that Thornton never viewed, downloaded, or consumed She says that law enforcement determined no crime had occurred and maintains my client did nothing wrong. A Florida fishing trip turned into a scene straight out of a nature documentary when Captain Justin Morgan saw a black bear swimming across the Kissimmee River near Lake Okeechobee with a large alligator chasing it. The bizarre encounter was caught on video, showing the bear trying to make its way across the river while a gator follows close behind. Florida is the home of an estimated— are you ready for this— 1.3 million alligators and more than 4,000 black bears. So while seeing either animal is possible, watching one chase the other across the river in Florida, well, Well, that's about as Florida as it gets. So what do you think? I remember before I moved to Florida, so many people were like, oh yeah, gators just roam the street. And I was like, what? I didn't— I don't think that's the case. A 39-year-old Michigan man has returned his weekly can-collecting routine into a $500,000 payday. The Livingston County man says that every Sunday he returns cans for deposit money and uses the cash to buy lottery tickets. This time he bought a Stampede Payout scratch-off at CVS on South Lyon and hit the jackpot. He scratched the ticket later that night after dinner and says that he started yelling and jumping up and down when he saw the $500,000 prize. He was so excited that apparently so shaky that he couldn't even get the lottery app scan the ticket at first. The man says that the win gives him financial freedom. His plans include paying off his house and taking a vacation and treating some friends to dinner. Sounds like an expensive dinner, but there you go. Congratulations to him. Police in Kansas City— or excuse me, in Kansas— are investigating After a restaurant owner allegedly approached a 2-year-old birthday celebrator and kissed the child on the face without permission. According to the girl's mother, the man apparently, uh, appeared to try to kiss the daughter on the lips, but the toddler turned its head, resulting in the kiss on the cheek. The mother immediately wiped her daughter's face and told the man not to touch or kiss people's children. She said he attempted to touch the child again and then responded with an of some dirty language before quickly leaving the restaurant. Benton's police said that the investigation of the incident as alleged battery— the man has been identified and an equity holder connected to several Kansas area restaurants and businesses. Some of those establishments have, um, issued a statement saying that the customer safety is the highest priority and that they are taking steps to prevent anything similar to happen again. So there you go. Let me give you one more and then we'll get you out of here. Los Angeles just delivered a wild wildlife moment straight out of a cartoon. Birdwatching, uh, watcher Alexander DeBarrios was surveying the Chatsworth Nature Preserve when he spotted a coyote walking by the Great Roadrunner in the mouth. DeBarrios snapped a photo and joked that he finally witnessed real-life version of Wile E. Coyote lifelong dream. The coincidence gets even better. His father, an animator, Brian Manoulev, got his start working for Chuck Jones, the creator of the famous cartoon character. Coyotes actually can outrun roadrunners and will eat them when the opportunity comes along, although nobody knows if this is the first verified photo of one being done. After decades of ACME products, explosions, and elaborate schemes, the Coyote finally got the Roadrunner. And apparently he didn't even, uh, need, uh, to mail order a rocket or anything.
