Full show transcript:
So they uh officially announced or released, I guess, the necropcy necro necro necroropsy necropcy? How do you say that word? Necropsy. It's like an autopsy. Oh, okay. For a bird. So anyway, uh the the findings on why uh or how rather uh Jackie the eagle uh died. And what they found out is that uh she actually had a version of uh bird flu.
Oh no, Jackie.
Yeah, I know, right? Uh which I thought was kind of interesting. Uh, they call it a complex and unusual disease process involving severe chronic inflammation and ulceration of the stomach.
Oh no. She had uh persistent internal bleeding, anemia, and secondary bacterial sepsis. Holy yeah, which further diagnostic testing confirmed highly patheogenic avion influenza within the affected tissue, which uh identified the virus as the underlying cause of all of the stuff. So all of the symptoms, the uh the ulcers and the inflammation and everything were because she had avian flu, uh, which is crazy. So, in addition to uh the attack from the other eagles that entered the territory, she was already sick with the aviant flu, and ultimately she uh she died from all of that. But that's pretty crazy. Um, and that's ultimately they were able to go, well, that's why we were seeing so many strange things with her blood work and stuff, because she was fighting an infection in addition to trying to heal um from the attack that they were treating as well. So all bad news, but that's what the report. How do you say that word? Necro PSY, necropsy. It's gotta be necropcy. Anyway. Um super sad.
Yeah, no, just sad, poor Jackie.
Yeah, but I guess they're able to finally say, well, now we know. Um, and they've updated all of the information on their website. So if you want to learn more, you can go to the uh the OHI Rapture Center. They have updated all of the information.
The raptor.
I thought you said the OHI Raptor Center.
He said Rapture, I think.
My mouth doesn't work. I've been talking all day. It's the end of the show, and it's the beginning of the show, and all these things are making my mouth go blah blah blah blah blah. So anyway, that's what's up. Okay, interesting. Here's today's show. Good morning. Good morning. I had one vehicle to scrape. It looks like you had two.
Um I scraped one, but the other one I just put on crazy defrost. And it actually wasn't that frosted over. My car wasn't that frosted over. But because I had to move our daughter's car, I had to scrape her windows.
I heard you leave and then come back, and then I was getting uh, you know, my last little bit ready to leave, and then you came back and then you left. And I went, what is going on? Like I thought you forgot something, but you had to move cars around. It was a whole thing. Yeah, it was a whole thing. And it was no fun. Yeah.
She complained yesterday that her scraper was no good, and she's right. She needs a new scraper. Okay. That was a terrible scraper. Okay. It's not good. What did she have? I don't know. It's a scraper, but it's terrible. It's like awful.
How have we not taught her the ways of the cassette tape? I don't know. I don't know.
So I had to get my cassette tape out of my car, which is my scraper. Yeah.
If you don't know, cassette tape is the best scraper.
I know. I think I introduced you even.
to that. You certainly did. It's great. I have a big truck, and I have to like stand on my tippy toes out the window, out the door to try and reach my windshield. Uh, because it's big, but it works. You could probably well engineer yourself. I'm not gonna try to attach it to a stick.
Like a telescoping something. Nah. You could make it. No way. But you could.
But it's that's too much effort. And then I have to store that somewhere in my vehicle.
That's true. I had a big long like truck scraper and I hated it because it takes up so much room.
Well, in your little car, you don't need that.
No, but why did I have it? I don't know.
You thought it'd be fun. It had a brush on it and a squeegee and it was a multi-purpose tool.
Yeah, but it was so long. My car's just little. That thing took up half my back seat.
Takes up half my back seat. Anyway, I was not uh yesterday. I should have scraped, but it I had that inside fog thing. Yeah, that too. So I had to use a napkin to wipe the inside fog.
Yep. I don't like that. I don't like it either. I hate scrapy. I know, me too.
Be nice. What's it like to have a garage, you think? Well, we have a garage. No, no, no. What's it nice to have a big garage that could fit my truck and your garage?
Oh, that'd be so awesome, wouldn't it? Yeah. Oh, if only to be rich.
And then a button you could push and then you could back in and out of it. Wouldn't that be neat? That would be so great. Yeah. Wow. We don't have that. No. No. No, we do not. We sell power.
Oh, no. We have a we have a home. And that's okay. I know. I'm just we don't have the big fancy garage.
No. We don't. We don't have anywhere to put it either. Like I could build one, but where? Nowhere. Nowhere. Nowhere. Yeah. So we scrape windows again this year. Sorry. about that. Sorry about that. Good job doing two cars this morning.
Thank you so much. You were you looked happy about it. I am the happiest. Couldn't be happier.
Give yourself some extra time this morning to scrape your windows for maybe the first or second time this year. You might need it. All right. This is good news. There's a couple. They're called Eric and Kyla.
Okay. And they spent months preparing for their wedding at South Fork Lodge in Loman, Idaho. Where's Loma, Idaho?
It's just uh kind of north and a little east of Boise up in the mountains there. Okay. Uh on the day they were supposed to say their I do's, they were dealing with a big problem. A car accident closed the freeway and cut off their route back to the lodge. And the ceremony was coming up, and it was an estimated four-hour wait.
Oh, no. And the couple needed a way around the closure. And this is like old like winding country roads. Like this is this isn't I mean, there's a highway, but it's highway 21.
It's not like, you know, the interstate or anything to get back in there. Um, so this guy, Garrett Kerr stepped up to save the day. He was able to help Eric and Kyla ride around the 16-mile traffic backup using his small electric pit bike and an all-terrain vehicle offered up by another good Samaritan at the scene, a woman named Jessica. Uh so they put everybody side by side and e-bike, and they took off and they got everybody where they needed to be in time for the wedding. That's awesome.
Yeah. Uh Eric finally stood at the altar looking at Kyla who was uh feeling stressed. Um he said, I remember like looking at her and seeing the mountain backdrop and being like, this is awesome. This is my wife. We're gonna live a long, awesome life together. We love each other, and it's gonna be great.
That's what he thinks. She's over there going, like, I can't believe we have to deal with this, and I had to ride in a side-by-side, and I had to get this how I got to my wife. Like, she's having all of that.
And he's like, look at the mountains and my wife. Let's go. So congratulations. That's awesome. They were able to get to the ceremony on time. Eric and Kyla. Congratulations. Congratulations. It's good news.
It's that time of year where I have to get out my bed socks.
Yeah, you put those on last night, and I said, those are probably not gonna make it through the night. They made it all night. Did they really?
It was so chilly. My feet were so chilly, and I normally, normally, normally hate sleeping in socks. But when it gets so cold, and my little footsies, I have terrible circulation. For one. For two, my extremities get so cold. My fingers, my toes, my nose. Always so cold. I know this. So I have to put on my bed socks.
And then eventually you're gonna get out that nose warmer again. Yeah, you're gonna wear that.
I was thinking about that the other night because my nose was so cold the other night. I don't know where it is. I think maybe somebody hid it. I did not hide it.
Because you hate it to be like, the accusation. Well. Well, you hate that nose warmer. I don't hate it. You do. It's just a goof.
And every time I put it on and it actually works, and my nose feels so warm, you go, I can't look at you wearing that thing. Well, it's wild. It's not.
It's just a crocheted little nose warmer. Right. It's not wild. It's wild. It's not. And you wear it around unironically. Yeah, I wear it to keep my nose warm. That's the intended purpose.
And I and I have to look at it. Don't look at that. You don't have to see it.
I don't even care. My nose is warm.
It's not even, it's not even disgusting. It's a cute little crocheted little nose.
warmer. I didn't say it was disgusting. I don't I don't look at it and go, oh, I'm appalled. So what do you look at it and do? It's ridiculous. It's like when we were uh on our honeymoon and I had to wear a life jacket and you looked at me and you said I can't take you seriously in that thing. It's just like that.
Josh, that life jacket. Yeah. That nose warmer. It's the same.
And yeah, I was wearing a big orange blocky Minecraft looking life preserver. Why you say Minecraft? Because it was blocky. Oh. It looked like straight out of Minecraft. Because it's just squares. And yeah, I was wearing it unironically to try to save my life if I fell out of that tiny rowboat.
Well, that's why I'm wearing my nose warmer. Right. To save my nose from getting frostbitten.
And when you looked at me and said, I cannot take you seriously when you're wearing that. I say the same thing. You you will walk into the kitchen wearing it, and I'll go, huh? Here we go.
I'm not asked to be taken seriously. When have I ever been asked to be taken seriously? If you know me at all, you know I walk into a room and I go, everyone drop your serious attitude. Right now.
It's time to get down
to I refuse to be taken seriously. Are you crazy? Who wants to be taken seriously? Serious people. I am not one of those people.
But you would wear it to like a meeting. You'd be like, my nose is cold. I'm wearing this.
Yeah, if my nose is cold enough, I would wear it to a meeting. Yeah. Because here's what else. What else? I put on my makeup for the day, and like an hour later, it's gone, wiped off because my nose gets so cold, and then I wipe it, and then it turns red because it's so cold. I look like Rudolph. Who's Rudolph? Rudolph.
There's an L in there. I know it. Rudolph. I love it. That's one of my favorite things that you do. What? You lose the L's. You lose the L's. What's that uh dog like animal that howls? What's he called? Nothing. I don't know. It's my favorite. I love that.
Well, my nose warmer is my favorite. So just let me wear it without giving me so much grief. You can do what you want. I will do what I want. I do. But I can't find it, is what I'm trying to say. Well, I didn't hide it.
Because I Because it's I don't hate it. I'm not appalled by it. It's just I can't take you seriously when you wear it. That's all. That's okay.
Again, I'm not asking to be taken seriously.
No, because you walk in and you go, we've got to have a serious conversation. And you'll be wearing that. And I'll go, mm-mm. Not right now. We can't. Too many distractions. Are you sad about me not taking a picture of the fish? Are you really upset about it?
I'm not sad about it. I just I think all of the all of the excitement gets thrown onto these big fish that are caught. And I think the little fish are just as important. And no one ever takes pictures of the little fish.
Well, I didn't even have to use my net to like take the fly out of its mouth and put it back. Like it was it didn't even stop long enough for me to get out the phone to take a picture. I did take pictures of the bigger fish that I caught. Yeah, I know.
You you said yesterday you caught five fish. Yeah. You had pictures of four because the other guy was too dinky. He was a dink. And I'm that's rude. Why? Because I think the all of the everybody's like, look at this big fish I caught. Who cares? Show me the tiniest fish you caught because I think those are actually harder to catch.
I will show you the smallest fish that I have caught.
I've seen some small fish that you've caught.
I carry around a photo of the smallest fish that I've caught uh in my fishing photo album.
Uh I just you should have taken a picture of that dinkiest fish because that's the one I want to see. Show me your small look at this huge one. Look at that. That's a good fish. I've seen that big one. I don't care about that. Show me the small one because those are harder to catch. Look at this one.
Just beautiful gold fish.
I don't care about those ones. Show me the small ones. I don't have the picture.
From now on, I don't want to see any pictures of your big fish. I just want to see the pictures of your dinky fish. All right. Fine.
So I will send you pictures of the small fish that I catch. Yeah.
And that goes for everyone. You just want the small ones. Yeah.
Okay. All these, all these dudes that are out fishing and hunting, they're like, look at this. And I'm like, I don't. That's too big.
I just want this. Show Show me the one you put back.
Yeah. Show me the little guy. All right. They're important too, Josh. Okay. And again, I'll say, I think they're trickier to catch. Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, I don't know that that's true. I mean, I'm trying to, I think the bigger ones are harder to catch. Why do you think that, though? Because I've caught more little fish than big fish.
That's that doesn't necessarily mean that they're easier to catch.
I mean, I think that's exactly what that means. No. Easier. Oh, you're searching it up. Yeah. I think here's what I think. I think their eagerness, uh, they're they're quick decision making. They are less accustomed to uh humans and overfishing and all of those kinds of things. And so I think that they get tricked easier. Yeah. And so here's what I learned. Yeah, I think I think the little ones are easier to catch.
There are fewer small, there are fewer large fish in bodies of water, which means you have fewer opportunities to cross pass with them. Larger, older fish tend to be more cautious.
Yep. So they're selective about what's going on. what they eat. They've been around. And they will often not waste energy chasing down a tiny unappealing snack unless the mill is worth the effort. That's right. Okay.
So when I caught that 14-inch yesterday, like that's that's a good fish. Which one? The 14-inch rainbow that I caught. Yesterday. Yeah. How much did he weigh? Like a pound or something. It's a pound of trout. I don't know. I can look it up. Yeah, but I'm still, I
still think I still stand by my word that like you should have taken a picture of your dinky fish, too. As a comparison. Here's the tiniest fish I caught and the biggest fish I caught. So I didn't, though. I know it.
But so the the 14-inch fish, he was 13.89 inches and weighed 1.16 pounds. Good job. Yeah. And he had a 7.92-inch girth. It's a big fish. They give me all this information.
Was it a rainbow or a brown?
No, it was a rainbow. I only caught one brown yesterday, but I but that 14-inch rainbow was really nice. I really I liked catching that one. He was a fighter. It was fun.
When you hook into a big one, it's a different game. Why? Because they run. They don't want to be in your net. And so they they try to get off the hook.
They're fun to catch. You gotta be you gotta be ready for them. Were you ready? I was.
I wasn't ready for the bigger one that did get off the hook. Oh busted. Yeah.
It's all good. The end of your rod just goes wham. And it's fun. That's a good time. I'll take you some pictures. I'll take some pictures of the small fish and send them to you. Yes, please. That way you can feel good at it.
Because I like those little guys too. Yay. They never get any kind of love. Everyone just goes, oh, small. And then they just throw them back.
I couldn't have done my Utah cutthroat slam without the small fish. See? That's what I'm saying. I was fishing in a river. I wasn't fishing in a creek. If you catch a small fish in a river, just put it back. That's what I did. I put it back.
And then I moved on to catch bigger ones. Congrats. Thanks. Now you're the baby. Yeah.
You're the little sister. Yes. So when it came to video games and those kinds of things, did you have a lot of that in the house? No, I was never allowed to play. But when you were allowed to play, were you handed a controller that wasn't plugged in? Probably.
Rude. It's the little sister controller. Yeah. Well, uh, this is exciting news for uh younger siblings, people with small hands. What?
No, no, really. Younger players, people with smaller hands, or anyone who is sink seeking something portable to play on the go. Xbox has released a new controller they're calling the nano controller. Okay. And it's a smaller controller, so that when you play Xbox games, uh, you can fit it in your tiny little hands. I actually kind of need this. I know because you have tiny little hands.
They do have small hands. And sometimes holding those big Xbox controllers, it hurts after a while. Right. You can only play so much Marvel cart for so long. Oh.
Listen, Nintendo does not have large controllers.
No, no, they don't.
They are not known for having large controllers. Now, PlayStation and Xbox, however, a little bit more on the street.
Why are there controllers so big?
So you feel like you're in the gaming experience. They're not that big. I mean, it fits right here. I don't know. It feels big. Yeah, when you have small hands. So this new Xbox nano controller is the solution. Yeah, it's tiny. It'll fit in your pocket.
That is cute. And uh, and it's made specifically for younger players and players with smaller hands so that they can get in on the action. So what they're saying is that uh it's fifty bucks, by the way, for one of these. Of course it is. Um, but then the whole family can play together. And so if you're playing like a four-player uh co-op couch game, um, up to four people can team up in local co-ops, sit in the living room and play, and everybody with big hands and little hands can get involved. I think it's a I think it's a fun approach.
Now, did you ever do that? You had a little sister. Did you ever tell her that our controller was plugged in? You did, didn't you? Huh? I can't even believe it.
Look, we both did that, even to our own kids.
Well, yeah, that's different when it's your kids.
Why is it different? It's exactly the same.
I was teasing the dog the other day, and I said, I never had a little sibling. So I have to tease you because I never got to tease anybody. Yeah.
You tease everybody. Who else do I tease? Everybody in the house. You're the pesky little sister. That's what's really going on. And you're over here like, oh, I'm just a baby.
Well, yeah, I just want somebody to pay me some attention. That's it. On my terms, though.
Yeah, oh yeah. Only when I want it.
Now go away. If you come and bug me, I was trying to sew last night, and here comes Emery in the sewing room. She just sits down on the floor. I'm like, oh, what do you want? This is my time now. I see. Okay. You goony.
This is my time. My time now.
I'll come talk to you when I want to want to come talk to you. Everyone has to be around on my terms. I don't know what to tell you.
People are going to show up and it's not going to be on your terms.
I know it. They always do. Right.
You're going to be okay, though, I think. I have been so far, haven't I? You've made it through. Did you finish your sewing project? No, it's it takes a long time. I thought.
And then I have to keep stopping. We'll talk about it later. Okay.
Sounds great. So this is uh public safety alert this morning. This is about 20 minutes ago. The Pocatello Police Department uh wanted to let everybody know that a mountain lion has been spotted in the area of Kenneth Place in Pocatello, and the Pocatello police officers are in the area monitoring the situation. Idaho Fishing Game has been notified. Uh, but if you are in that area, please use caution and do not approach the mountain lion. And if you do spot the animal, they're asking that you contact the Pocatella police department to report the sighting uh so that they can uh help you know track down where this uh wild cat is at.
And yeah, to keep everybody safe. Heads up.
Pocatello there's a mountain lion sighting this morning. So just Jeez Louise.
Thought I'd make sure everybody knew about that. Okay.
Well, be careful, everybody.
So let's talk about your sewing project. Okay, what do you want to talk about? You said you didn't finish it.
It's actually I thought it was gonna be like no time at all, and I'd had that thing done. So this is a project where I have to sew, I have to cut strips of fabric.
Yeah, it's a paper chain but made of fabric. And it's a countdown to Halloween, which is now coming up quick. 16 days. I know. Okay. When you were working on it over the weekend, you were kind of excited because you needed some additional materials, but it seemed like the additional materials that you needed were like the exact number that you've already passed. You were like, you were like, I only need this many rings, and I have enough materials to make that many rings. Uh huh. But then you went to the store, you bought more materials, and so you're working on it last night. And how many new strips did you get done?
Well, I'm not done with the strips that I already had. I didn't know. Because you haven't done the Velcro on them. No, there's a lot of steps, Josh. You're not even letting me talk. Just chill out for a minute. What? Chill out.
I'm very curious about your project and your process. I had to cut out 31 strips of fabric. Okay. And then I had to cut. 31. Yeah.
That's how many days there are. Isn't that amazing? And then I had to cut out 31 strips of the fleece fusible webbing. Okay. To give it like the thickness. The sturdiness that it needs.
Sure. And then you have to iron it all, and then you have to sew it, and then you have to pin it, and then you have to iron, and then you have to sew, and then you have to pin, and then you have to turn it inside out, and then you have to sew it.
Oh, do you get to use your cool bone tool? Yeah. I like that.
I've been taking some video of each step. Okay. And so then hopefully when it's finished, I can you're gonna build a montage. Yeah.
Uh like a montage.
But I need one of those things. You know what I need is what is it? Because I've been trying to record while I'm doing it, but I don't have like influencers have like a strap or something where they hold their phone so you can see what they're doing.
They're POV. Yeah, yeah. It's like a neck thing. Yeah, I need that. Or do you know what's set up literally right outside of your craft room? Is that there's a tripod with a ring light. I mean, you know, or you could do that. It's literally like five feet away. Yeah, you're right. Yeah.
The other day I had a vest. Oh. And I kind probably of Jimmy rigged my phone and my vest. Yeah. That was like did it work? Kind of. Okay.
You get creative when you're making content. That's good.
Yeah, it's really good content. Believe me. Well, I'm excited. Yeah. I was doing really good yesterday, and then here comes our daughter. I'm so hungry. And I went, oh, I guess I gotta go make dinner. So I had to go make dinner.
It is starting to be. I was fishing, sorry. And then I had to
you got home, we had dinner, and I was like, well, now we gotta go for a walk before it gets too much later.
And then it was bedtime. So you didn't get to did the iron get turned off. That's not reassuring. I don't.
I think so because I think I am very cautious about the iron.
I think you probably should ask our daughter before she goes to school.
I'm almost positive that I that
I it should be
a turns off by itself after a certain amount of time. Yeah, it does. Do you want to double check?
Yeah, but I am almost that I didn't worried about that. I know it's fine. You know, it's only been on all night.
I was gonna say, if it's been on all night, it's fine. It's I unplugged it. I know I did. Okay. I know I did. Because I don't like to just turn it off. I like to also unplug it. Right. I agree. So I'm positive because I do that.
I'm pretty pretty good about turning off the iron. Okay. Today's the day, though. I'm gonna You're gonna Why? I was gonna say I'm gonna finish it today, but I still have a lot of steps left to do.
How many more strips do you have to build? So many. And then you have to do the velcro also. Yes. And you have to sew that on. Yes. And then you gotta make all the loops and hook them together and hang it up.
What day is it? The 15th? Okay. I think I have I think I only have like three or four more strips that I still need to sew, and then I need to do the Velcro, and then I'll be fine. And then the extras, the ones that I don't need because those days have already passed. I'll worry about those later. But I think I've got close to the at least 16. Yeah. I think I have 18. Oh, good. I know. You're so close. I know. Have you seen the latest Hot Wheels cars?
I don't think I have. What's going on?
They are ruined. Why are they ruined? Well, they're not necessarily ruined, but they've gone some gone through some design changes over the decades. I saw this yesterday. Our friend posted this yesterday, actually. And I went, I didn't know they did this. He was like, Yep, ruined. Everything is ruined. So in 1997 on the bottom of a Hot Wheels car. Oh, yeah. It had all this detail about like what like an underbody of a car would look like.
Yeah, it had exhaust and all that kind of stuff. Are you saying they don't do that? Yeah. And then Go ahead.
And then in 2012, they have a picture and they kind of they they had like the outline of some stuff, but they lost a lot of the detail. And now, 2026, a hot wheel car is the bottom. Just flat. Are you sure? Yeah, look. Look at that. Can you even I wonder why? I don't know.
Yeah, I just pulled up that exact same picture. Because I thought that like I've seen people talk about this in like McDonald's toys, right? Yeah. Where they used to have like the Hot Wheels happy meal and it came with a really cool car that had a lot of detail.
I didn't know they were doing this across the board. Yeah, I mean, look, like in 97, it had uh full functioning differentials, it had a drive line, it had exhaust, all that stuff.
Suspension components. Then they sort of exhausted.
Made it a little less detailed, but it still had the drive line and still had some exhaust and a little bit of axle. Now it's just got bumps where the axles go. That's lame. Isn't that totally lame? What are we doing? Did it cost that much to make that detail? I'm I'm guaranteeing that Hot Wheels still has the molds that make the detail. detailed bottom.
That's what I'm saying. Use the mold. Yeah. Our friend posted this, and I said, Oh no, I hate that. And he goes, Yep, everything is cheaper and more stupid.
Okay. That's really interesting. Like I know there's the color theory thing where they're like taking color out of everything. I don't know if you've seen that, where like McDonald's used to be this bright, colorful. Oh, red and yellow and attractive and big fun land, and now everything's brown and black. Brown, black and white.
It's kind of like people's houses. Everybody went from color to Yeah, and cars.
Everything's a white car, black car.
We have all white cars. Yes. Very nice. You like the white car? I actually don't care about the color on her.
I really like it.
But I feel like our house is very colorful. Oh, yeah.
I mean, our kitchen. Oh, yeah.
I have a green table and mismatched chairs.
I've got a yellow chair and an orange chair. Different colored palette wall thing.
We have a lot of color in our house. And then you go to the basement. Gray. Gray. Gray and tan.
There is some yellow brick in the fireplace wall, which is kind of fun.
And that's only because we haven't put up our artwork yet. Our artwork is going to be down the down the stairs. Oh, it's not going on that wall down there.
Where your clocks used to be? Uh-huh. We just haven't decided yet.
Oh, okay. I still don't know what to do there. I don't either, but I need we need to start hanging some of that stuff up. We have like three pieces that are sitting on the piano. There's four. And they're not on the piano currently because there's Halloween decorations. I moved them to the basement. Of course. Weeks ago. Do I live in this house? I don't know. Do you? Apparently not.
I need to pay attention to what's going on around me a little bit more. Yeah, you too. This just hasn't been an important thing. Like I just thought all that stuff was still sitting leaned up against uh the piano.
You took pictures of our daughter and her friends for homecoming, and I had to move the paintings because they were leaned up against the wall where we took the pictures, and I had to move on.
I didn't even notice what that was.
Hi, I'm Chantel. Have we met?
I don't know. Are you new here? I think you are. I'm new here. First day. I don't even go here. What is this? What do I do? Am I in a chair?
I don't know. I was pretty impressed because I have quite a few things in our house that have lights right now. Yeah. I've got some garlands that have lights. I've got some pumpkins. I mean, there's probably one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Seven things that have to be turned on and off every every day. Right. To get in the Halloween vibe. And I was pretty impressed that you knew to turn them all off the other day.
Well, I know how to turn things off. What do you mean? Yeah. I've done that before. I wasn't going to leave everything on going to bed. I know how to I know how to turn the house off to go to bed.
You did ask on the one Carlin, you said. I don't even know where the power is.
Yeah, I don't know what you did. I don't know how you wired this up. I'm not going to try to figure it out. Just I'll leave that one for you. You can handle that one. And you did.
Anyway. I'm new to the house. I'll figure things out. Apparently.
Yeah. I've got some nails. We can hang some stuff, but there's I feel like we were waiting to get the rest of the frames filled so that we could lay it out.
I understand, but if we wait for that, they're just gonna sit there. They've been sitting there already too long. Let's just get it done. Uh I probably talk about this every year. Uh, but that's because it comes up in my house every year. Um, have you heard about these boo baskets? Who wants a boo basket? Who do you think? Why? Oh, because she keeps seeing Instagrams Instagrams and everyone is doing these boo baskets.
I'm gonna take away her phone.
So every year about this time, we start getting these little hints from our daughter, and she sends me videos of somebody getting a boo basket. Now, a boo basket, if you don't know, is a basket of some sort, some variety, filled to the brim with treats and prizes and like a mug of hot cocoa. All right, here's what it's and a blanket.
For for kids, you could throw in Halloween story books, coloring books, crayon stickers, small toys like spider rings, glow sticks, bubbles, and uh some movie theater candy. That's a kid's basket.
Uh I'm sorry. Here's what I'm gonna say. Yeah. We we already do enough.
Yeah, for teens and adults, you can throw in scented candles, uh, fuzzy festive socks, artisan chocolates. You mentioned mugs, skincare, pamper items, sometimes uh specialty uh little coffees and drinks and like little syrups.
I'm gonna tell you that she had a birthday a month ago. Yeah. Christmas is issues.
Right around the corner. I know.
And for Halloween, guess what you get?
You get to go door to door trick-or-treating and get candy. Fill a pillowcase full of candy.
And also, it's pretty regularly that I go get you a refreshment. I know. So I'm I'm not doing a boo basket. I know. I'm with you.
Maybe it's just because I'm a little bit cranky today, but I'm also just going to do it.
Look at this one. It's too much.
This one's got uh like a pumpkin spice creamer in it. It's got uh a thing of scented lotion, there's a candle in it, there's some sort of little cookie treat. There's those little salted caramels, it's got a Stanley mug, and then it's got those slippers, those brown slippers with the little red trim. You know the ones. I do. It's got those, then it's got like little tea towels, and it's got little festive tissue paper. Oh, it's adorable. There's a gift card in the case.
Oh no, I've I've seen them. I've seen them all because she sends them to me. And then she says, I those boo baskets sure are cute. And I go, Yeah, they sure are.
Yeah. I'm not gonna do it. I'm just not gonna. I feel like you, my daughter, who I love dearly, uh-huh, get quite a bit of stuff. Yeah. So I'm not doing a special.
But I've never had a boo basket. I never had a boob basket.
I'm I don't know. I think there is something to be said in this, like, hey, I saw this thing and I thought about you and I bought it for you. Right. And there's there's some kind of speciality to that.
Of a surprise gift. Yes. But you know you do it once.
Oh, this boo basket? You do it. If I do it once, I'm gonna be expected to do it all the time. Oh, I have 100% now, which is why I have not done it yet.
And I'm not I'm not gonna I never had a boo basket before. They're so cute. I've never seen one in real life.
Then she tells me that she wants to get some for her friends, and I went, okay. You got that job. You got that job. Oh. But it's gonna have to be small then. And I went, okay. Yeah.
Because not only am I not buying a boo basket for you, not buying boo baskets for your friend. Right. Either. I don't know. Call me cranky. Hey, cranky. But I'm not sure.
Come on. Spend all your paycheck on your daughter's boo basket for her friends. Come on.
Plus, also, These influencers have got to stop. Right. Stop it. Let's just be real for a minute, shall we?
But I've never seen a boo basket in person. I've never never opened a boo basket before.
I should do. Just a boo basket, but have like stuff room around the house.
Take stuff from her room and put it in a basket and go here. And then when she goes to open it, go boo, and then run away. There's your boo basket. Yeah. Yes.
Yesterday was Be Bald and Be Free Day. Oh, was it? And you didn't even celebrate. I I don't need to. Did you even take your hat off?
No. I mean, eventually. Be bold and be free. don't wear it all day. Well, you kind of do. I mean, I wear it like at work, but like when I go home, I take it off. Yeah. Hang out.
But you do get you get a little bit sad about your bald head sometimes.
And I just wanted to do that. I just wonder what it'd be like to have hair again.
Well, here's something that I just read that you missed out on a little bit. What did I miss out? It's called hair banking. What is that? Oh, this is when people try to fight their future baldness by collecting the hair they have now and cloning it.
What? So they take single hair follicles, like between 100 and 120, and then they are stored through like a freeze. They freeze them. So they essentially are freezing the stem cells in the hair. And then they multiply them in a hair cloning process. And then when the patient is ready and wants them, they can be injected back into the scalp.
Okay, but listen, what's the difference between doing that and going to like Turkey for a transplant where they take the like because I grow a lot of hair on the sides and back, and they'll take follicles from the back and re-plant them up on the top.
That's the same thing without the freezing. It is so I'm taking out paying someone to do that for me, and I would just be getting the one hair hair transplant. Yeah.
And I'm carrying around the follicles that grow hair with me all the time anyway. Yeah. Soin. Why would I do that? I don't know. It makes no sense. Because you're not. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know either.
I don't necessarily know the difference, but I'm just saying. Uh okay. It is similar. The cost is similar to a hair transplant. So it's it ranges from about 5,000 to 20,000. Unreal. The process is to be far less invasive than a surgical procedure, but I don't know how because you're still injecting hair follicles into your head. Yeah. Yeah.
The cost uh for a hair transplant in Turkey is typically between two and five thousand dollars. Are you serious? Well, you gotta fly. For the standard all inclusive package. We know somebody who did that. Do we? Yeah. I don't know. I don't know if I know anybody. You do. Okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we know somebody who wants to go do that. Do we? Yes.
I look, it's weird when you see pictures of uh, you know, you know, of like the airplanes to and from, like you get a whole bunch of bald guys on their way to Turkey and on their way back, it's just a bunch of bandaged heads on their way home. Like that's like what'd you come over here for? Yeah, I don't know. It's interesting.
It would be so strange to see you with a full head of hair. Yeah. Because I've only really ever known you bald. I mean, because even when we got married, you had a little tiny bit of hair on top, but not much. Yeah.
But the hair transplant in Turkey, 2500 to 3500 is the average cost. Dude. To do it in the US is between 10 and 15,000. Get out of here. That's crazy. Yes. That's wild.
Would you want to fly to Turkey to have it done? I don't know. Do you want hair that bad?
I mean, I if I tried the toupee thing and like that. I mean, you gotta look like that for a while. Like I I'm looking at the post op thing. I don't want to look like that. How long do you have to look like that? Too long. Two months. I guess it's about it's almost a year. No. Until it like grows out of the graft stage. Fascinating. Yeah. I mean, it's months.
How painful do you think it is? Very. I didn't I can't.
There's no way that doesn't hurt.
I saw a guy getting a tattoo on his head once on his bald head. No way.
I just I thought why?
Yeah. I mean, look, I'm not like uh like ashamed that I'm bald. It's just the way that things have been. I started losing my hair when I was 18. I've been full of things.
I don't think that you're ashamed, but I do think that you get self-conscious.
I would love to know what it's like to have to comb hair again. I haven't had to do my hair since I was in high school. That sounds like heaven.
Just not have to worry about doing your hair every day.
I mean, look, I wear I wore hats a lot, like in high school. So it wasn't any different than now, except when I took it off, I had hair. Frosted tips, David. I had really nice center part hair. I had boy meets world hair. I had good hair.
Yeah, I don't know that. I don't know that boy. I know. That's it's not me anymore. Josh, be bald and be free. Okay.
I didn't even know the day. It isn't like they send an email newsletter out to all the bald guys, and they're like, hey, it's
be bald and be free day, you know? a survey.
Yeah. Like okay. Like there's that. There's bald is beautiful day. Like they're just trying to make us feel included. And I understand and appreciate that, but also it's just a reminder that I'm bald. But you don't have to be sad about it. Oh. You have a nice head. Thanks.
Your head is a very nice shape. Like, if you're gonna be bald, like your head is one of the best.
All right. Well, what a nice thing to say. Thank you.
You feel better about yourself? 100%. When somebody tells you, you look tired. What do you what are you supposed to say to that?
What's the setting? Is this at work? Yeah. If I'm at work and somebody is like, dude, you look pretty tired today. I'm gonna uh confirm their suspicion and say, yeah, I probably should go home.
Well, I mean, honestly, yeah, I am tired. Yeah. I'm middle-aged.
I'm tired of this conversation and I'd like to go home. I'll tell you that much. I'm tired. Yeah. No, I really like if somebody recognizes that I look like I'm tired. Like that's where I'm gonna be like, all right. I I you're right. I am. I am beat, and I should probably go take the rest of the day and relax and rest.
I said I am tired. Thanks for noticing.
Yeah, who's gonna close for me so I can go home? Yeah, because I'm tired.
Also really kind of signifies that you think that I look terrible.
So I don't think you look terrible. Looking terrible is a different. If somebody walked in and said, You look terrible.
Oh, you look tired.
Boy, you look like you got hit by a bus on the way in. Like that's a different level than you look tired. Like you look tired, is like I'm dragging. Like uh like my eyes are slamming shut. I'm just beat.
I can't stop yawning.
So you don't think And then they go, You look tired, and I go, Yeah. It's been a long month.
I just never know how to I never know how to take that. I don't ever know how to respond. I don't know how to I don't know. I just don't know. Yeah, I don't either.
Say I was reading something and
somebody said, I got a compliment yesterday that said, You're cute for your age. Whoa. Yeah. This did not happen to me, but it happened to somebody else, and they were like, What it feels a little backhanded, right?
It does. I mean, it certainly isn't like the nicest thing you could say to somebody. I mean, it could also be met with a solution, like you look pretty tired, like how can I help? Like, you know. Yeah. I don't know.
I'm sure I have told that to people before where I go, hey, you're you look tired. I don't know how they're supposed to respond either. I think maybe we just keep those thoughts to ourself. Like, oh my god.
You don't have anything nice to say.
to say. Chantel looks tired. And it's not necessarily mean. Sure. It's just an observation. But it feels a little bit loaded in the moment where you go, hmm.
But also, yes, I am, and I'd like to have the rest of the day off. Will you close for me so that I can leave early? Yeah, exactly. I am tired.
Well, now I have to go look in the bathroom and see what the bags look like underneath my eyes. Get a cool compress.
Because I go, If I did that, I'd look in the mirror and I'd go, no, I look the same. Great. I'm just a tired old man. Great. You look tired. Oh, no different than any other day.
Yeah, yesterday I was not. I was tired yesterday, and I didn't even bother to do my hair, and I had put my hair up in a bun and it didn't look great. And so I didn't feel great. You know, there's days where you just feel better about yourself than other days. I didn't feel great about myself yesterday. I told you on the radio. I was like, I just need to tell me that I'm pretty.
Right. And then we did have somebody call and say you're pretty. That was nice. Yeah. And then I got a you look tired. I went, no, wrong thing to say. Do you need a nail? You're cute for your age.
Yeah. These are hardcore comments. Yeah, I don't know how I feel about it. I'm gonna have to think about that one a little bit. Which one? All of it.
You're cute for your age or you're tired. Am I cute for my age? You're cute. For your age. For your age.
For an old tired man.
44-year-old, you're pretty cute.
Oh, easy. What? I don't have to tell everybody.
Josh, it's okay. Oh, net. I'm 45. I'm older. Always will be.
Would you rather this or that?
Would you rather transform into a bat or transform into a werewolf? Bat. Me too. Why'd you choose bat? Because you can fly. That sounds pretty cool, right? Mm-hmm.
Plus, you got that echo location, which sounds like a neat thing.
Plus, you can sleep in a dark cave and people leave you alone. Okay.
You're going to hang upside down, so you got that going. That's okay. Um here's the thing. Uh I've I think convinced me right out the gate that I was uh gonna be a bigger fan of a bat than a werewolf. Okay, it's that every transition from human to bat that I've ever seen is a bit of a poof. Yeah.
You're a bat. And you're like you're standing there, you jump in the air, poof, you're a bat, and you start flying away. Every single transition from human to werewolf looks excruciating. It does look painful, it looks horrifying.
And it rips all your clothes. Yeah. Like your pants are now.
And then when you transition back every time you're like, well, now I'm wherever I'm at, and all my clothes were ripped up where I turned into a wolf. So I'm I picked bat.
When you transition in everything I've ever seen, when you transition from a bat back to a human back, your clothes are there.
Everything. Yeah, everything's back to normal. Right. I'm picking bat. That's why that's my logic. That's funny. I didn't even think about that until now. Mine was like it's dark cave. Everyone leaves you alone. Sounds like heaven. You're awake at night, you get asleep during the day. Yeah Sounds awesome. Depending on which vampires you look at, you may sparkle. Plus. What do they eat? Who? Bats. Fruit. Mosquitoes.
See? And werewolves eat what? Dog food? I don't know. Yeah. Fruit, nectar, sometimes insects. Yeah, I'm going bat all the way around. Right. Yeah. Clothes. Smoky transition. Poof. I'm a bat. I'm out. Peace out. Would you rather this or that?
You have your uh Halloween costume pretty sorted. You've got to like do some shopping. I do. But you know what you're gonna dress up. Sure. Should I tell people? No. Why? Because you're not, it's not time. Okay. How many people can keep a secret?
I don't know how to keep any secrets.
Just don't tell anybody. It's fine. So uh I wanted to, I'm still trying to figure out what I'm gonna do. Last year I did Charlie Brown. Right. And I felt really good about it. I felt like it was a good costume.
You could do that again. You have all the pieces.
I know, but uh like if we are doing a thing here, like at least for our social media on Friday, I want to have something. Oh, yeah, I'm gonna dress up on Friday. Yeah, of course. And my other job just better be accepting.
Oh, they will. So I was like, okay, what are the what are like the big current trending Halloween costumes? And Google just released their stuff of uh of like what people are searching for. And these are the top, like, I don't know how many, ten or something. Buddy the unicorn is number one.
Okay. Do you know Buddy? So this is the this new uh horror movie called Buddy. Uh it's got Topher Grace and Keegan Michael Key in it. No, and Keegan Michael Key plays a unicorn. It's this brightly colored children's television host who's seemingly wholesome and then extremely disturbing. Okay. Um and it's it looks like a children's show, but it is not.
It is a horror movie, and people didn't necessarily read that or watch previews before they tried to take their kids to the show, and they went, no, no, this is not a kid's show. Uh so Buddy the Unicorn is like number one.
No, anything about that. I just looked it up.
Needo, the little jelly, squishy Nito. What? People want to dress up as that. That's number two. Okay. Nido costume. Okay. Because I'm sure kids are like, I want to dress up like Nido. They're obsessed with it. So that makes sense that that would be a thing.
Fascinating. a thing. Um, the new scary movie called Obsession. There's a character in there called Nikki.
Um, and that's very popular. I don't know any of this stuff. Agamemnon from The Odyssey. Say again. Agamemnon. Is one of the uh one of the uh soldiers. These are kid costumes? No, these are the topics.
Oh, these are the adult costumes.
Anybody, these are the top costumes. Okay. Agamemnon from the Odyssey is on the list. Okay. Lily Lovebraids from Poppy Playtime.
What are these things? Are you just making things up? No. I've not heard of a single one of these. I don't know.
I don't know what to tell you. Oliver Tree. Okay. The musician who died in the helicopter uh thing. He's on the list. People want to dress up as Oliver Tree. Uh Verlity from Minecraft. What? It's this mysterious yellow smiling virtual assistant. It's terrifying. And people want to dress like that. Carl from Dungeon Crawler Carl.
You're just making things up. You're just making up these costumes. Give me. No.
A disco themed spin on Scooby-Doo. Disco Scooby-Doo. Rut Roll. And lastly, uh, number 10 or whatever number I'm at, Hazel Hook from The Descendants. Uh, so Disney's Descendants is uh like a modern play on the stories, and Hazel Hook is the Captain Hook character in Descendants. And that is a huge costume.
I am out of the loop. Very out of the loop. Yeah. I don't know any of those costumes. Yeah. Needo, I have heard of. Scooby-Doo, I have heard of. Yes. Not a disco Scooby-Doo.
Disco Disco Doo. Disco-disco-doo. Why a disco Scooby-Doo? Why just regular Scooby-Doo when you could disco Scooby-Doo? Uh disco themed Scooby-Doo tops Google's couples list when paired with Scooby's longtime companion shaggy. Disco shaggy. Yeah. Um another selection from Variety about couples costumes.
Taylor and Travis made the list. Gross. Uh it looks like other people want to dress like the Gallagher brothers from Oasis.
Not And not relevant. Stack and Smoke from the from the show Sinners with Michael B. Jordan. Um Mark and Heli from uh Severance. Um I don't.
Couple a couple of people, the Ratlifts from White Lotus. Don't know. Um I don't know this stuff. Uh I'm just looking. Beetlejuice and uh it's Lydia, uh, Beetlejuice and Lydia. Uh Lydio. Glenda and Alphabet popular couples costume. Lydia. Um Lydia.
I don't know. I don't know why.
Oh, I do not like that. I don't know why you're doing this. Yes, I know the song.
You don't know why I'm doing this, because this is what I know. I do.
I just I'm just I'm still trying to talk. It doesn't matter.
I don't know the I don't know any of the people that you're talking about.
You do know. Like you know, Barbie and Ken are still popular. Uh Deadpool and Wolverine are still popular. Targaryans from the House of Dragon, Mortician, Gomez Adams. There's still people want to dress like uh like Rick and Morty. There's still stuff in here.
What I know is that I don't think there's gonna be anybody else that's dressed like me. I guarantee it.
I just don't know now what I'm gonna do. I still like you gave me an idea, and I looked at it and I went, no.
No, I know.
Not because not because I don't want to participate with you. Because I don't want to do that costume.
I understand. I've given up, I've given up trying to dress in costumes with you for Halloween. I have lots of fun, cool ideas, and you shoot me down every time. It's fine.
I've given up. I'm gonna do my own thing from here on out, and people will be like, great costume, Chantel. I'll be like, Thank you, I know. I could have had a partner, but no, it's fine. You do you, and I'll do me, and we'll be totes fine. Okay. Just Halloween costumes only. Let me specify. All right.
This is a it's a costume divorce.
This isn't a breakup. Yeah, yeah. I didn't. Yes. I'm with you. You are we are no couples on Halloween. It's fine. You know, a couple years ago, I had an idea that our whole family was gonna go as ABBA.
I know it was a great idea. Great idea. Still do it.
No, I have a different idea this year. Maybe next year. Maybe.
Then you'll be like, nobody else wants to do it. Amory was all in on it. I'm still all in on it.
It's the boys in our life who are sticks in the mud.
We're gonna wrap up today's show. Have a great rest of your Thursday. We'll be back tomorrow morning on your Friday. Uh I know, isn't that nice? Uh so enjoy today.
Have a good one. We'll be back tomorrow. Um, and uh, yeah, that's all I have to say. We'll see you later. Goodbye.
