Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem

Viktor somehow turned "I'll just buy a couple books" into dragging home roughly 300 of them, then immediately started playing antique roadshow after discovering what might be a signed Anthony Bourdain book hiding in the pile. Meanwhile, Peaches admitted he's still borrowing his friend's vacuum because apparently owning one is a luxury, debated buying a new bed frame, and somehow convinced ChatGPT to cover his face in yogurt for what he insists is "home décor." The conversation only got weirder from there with fake celebrity autographs, prank ideas involving coworkers' dogs, Papa Roach ticket giveaways, Chris Cornell "ghost music," Oliver Tree conspiracy theories, old-school internet ARGs, Ronnie Radke making millions selling merch, and whether Viktor could survive insulting a professional wrestler to his face. If you've ever wondered how a discussion about books turns into haunted songs and yogurt portraits hanging on apartment walls, this episode answers absolutely none of your questions... but it's a pretty great ride anyway.

What is Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem?

The Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem can be heard live on KBEAR 101 weekdays at 12pm MST. Viktor and Peaches talk about a wide variety of topics depending on the day and you never know what to expect!

[upbeat jazz music] The noon hour of Madness and Mayhem, the podcast

Thank God it's Friday, Peaches.

Woo!

Jeez.

Yeah.

Ooh.

It's empty around here. I hate it.

Yeah, where, where is everybody?

Jay's not here, Kevin's not here, the whole sales team's not here. Uh, I went over to that side of the building, and Star and Maddy were not here. I mean, Maddy's on-

Hmm

... her lunch break, I think, but Star's door was completely shut.

Hmm.

It's all deserted.

I wonder what's going on.

It's Friday.

Why weren't, why weren't we invited to whatever fun they're up to?

I mean, we could have just called out today.

I considered it this morning. [laughs]

Oh.

My stomach was r-

If I came in-

It's still in bad shape

... on that nose traffic school and do the two shows, I would've ... I would be committing crimes

Oh, you got this. You got this, Peaches.

No.

You got this.

I'm talking about the same stuff on two different stations.

Well, yeah, you might as well. You know, different audience. Give them the Peaches story on both.

Sure.

Heck yeah. Ugh. Yeah, last night, I don't know if you heard me talk about this on the morning show, I, uh, I went shopping.

I, I bought probably 300 books.

See, you texted me.

Did I text you about it?

Yeah, you texted me last night.

Ah.

I was at the, uh, the Elks Lodge with Brian and Michael and those guys.

Yeah.

And you texted me this: "I, I probably bought 300 books today."

Yeah.

And I said, "Wait, what?" And then you sent me a bunch of moving boxes that had books in them.

Yes. My whole dining room is filled up with boxes now.

And now you need shelves for those books.

Yeah. Well, and I gotta go through them. The deal with the books was I was, you know, looking at Facebook Marketplace, and somebody had listed a lot of books. You know, it was, you have to buy them as a lot. And I was looking through the pictures and I saw a few books I wanted, so I messaged them like, "Hey, I know you wanted to sell them as a lot, but would you break it up and just sell me a few?" And they're like, "Well, they're already boxed up."

And-

That's how they get you

... and I was like-

[laughs]

... "Ugh. All right, I'll buy all of them." [laughs] And I, I got home and-

You can't complain about money anymore either, Victor. [laughs]

Well, see-

You just spent 125 bucks on all these books.

I know, but I, you know, hopefully can make some money back, sell some of them, 'cause a lot of them are books I'm not interested in. But I was finding ... I, I went through two boxes and I found some signed books. There was a book signed by Anthony Bourdain in there. I was like, "Heck yeah." What, what, what's a signed Anthony Bourdain book running for on eBay? Maybe I get my money back right off that one book. I mean, I kinda wanna keep it, but he's no longer with us, so that tends to drive up value. Let's see. Anthony Bourdain signed. Let's see what we got.

All right. Was it that book? A Cook's Tour. All right, somebody's trying to sell it for $300.

Um, let's look at some that have actually sold. That's how you determine real value. Just ... Because you could list a book for $10 million, it doesn't mean somebody's gonna buy it. All right. Where is the sold items button? There it is.

Okay. Hey, somebody bought I think that same book for, uh, $175.

There you go.

[laughs] Dude. Yeah.

Good ROI.

Yeah. I sell the one book, make all my money back.

I, I should probably hang on to it if it's worth that much. [laughs] Hopefully the lady listening to the show that I bought all the books from ain't listening.

Well, what's she gonna do? Demand them back?

"I demand my books back." Ah, she's a collector. She, she probably knows, you know, she just doesn't care. 'Cause-

She signed it herself as Anthony Bourdain.

[laughs] Maybe that was it.

She's just laughing at you right now.

[laughs] Well-

Anthony's misspelled

... she's a forger, a master forger. Yeah. Anyway, um-

I, I've been trying to do some shopping myself. I was, uh, looking into getting a new bed frame.

Mm-hmm.

And, uh, I, I'm like, do I really wanna get one of these cheap ones off Amazon for the, the supposed Prime Day deals-

Mm-hmm

... even though Prime Day is, like, a week long? [laughs]

Mm-hmm. Yeah, I did buy a blender on Prime Day.

Oh, good for you.

Yes. So I can, I can blend up anything.

I still don't have a vacuum.

Peaches.

Uh, I, I've been borrowing my friend Bryson's. [laughs]

Buy a vacuum, dude.

The, the prices for those things are through the roof.

Well, and-

There's no way

... you can't buy a cheap vacuum either-

No, no

... 'cause they don't work.

Yeah, they don't suck.

They don't suck.

Uh, the one-

Yeah

... that I have was, like, 30 bucks from Walmart-

Yeah, those-

... when I first moved out here

... those are no good.

And yeah, it's, it's not good.

[laughs]

But so then, so then I was like-

[laughs]

... "Hey, Bryson, can I borrow your vacuum?" He said, "Sure." I take it home to, with me and-

Well, Peaches, I think it's time for some Prime Day shopping.

Well, I have no money, dude.

[laughs]

I'm not gonna, like-

Oh.

My dad Venmo, Venmo'd me 75 bucks just randomly out of nowhere. He's like, "Go buy some groceries." I'm like, "Thanks, Dad. That's, that'll last me a, a good four days."

Y- if you're lucky. [laughs]

Yeah. I, I, I'll get my Walmart delivery of, uh, hummus and cucumbers and eggs and blueberries.

If anybody out there wants to Venmo me money for the heck of it, feel free.

Is that not, not allowed? We're not allowed to ask the listeners to-

I don't know

... give us tips?

I don't know. I don't know what the rule is. You can ask for tips at ev- every other job. Why can't we ask for tips here?

You know? We give away prizes, we hook people up with free stuff. How about a tip? And not, "Uh, get a better job. That's my tip for you." [laughs] [upbeat jazz music] It's the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem. And I forgot to mention this at the end of the show yesterday, or today, Peaches, the end of the morning show, but we're kicking off another giveaway tomorrow for some concert tickets. Papa Roach.

The one that we were supposed to do this week.

Yes. But I ... Uh, what, what do they call it when you, um,

you know, call in a, a different plan?

Are you dumb, stupid-

[laughs]

... or dumb?

[laughs] I screwed up. So we're doing Papa Roach tickets next week. Papa Roach, Set It Off, and Autumn Kings. Gonna be at the Port Neffell Trust Amphitheater July 23rd, coming up quick. And this giveaway w- we're doing old school easy, Peaches. Just you pick a caller number, tell them to call, win.

Okay, good.

All right? Bam, bam. Keep it simple.

Yeah, might as well.

Now, not everybody's gonna win, so if you're a loser... Oh, I mean, if you don't win, you can buy your tickets. We got the link on the concert calendar at kbear.fm. Go check that out. Buy some tickets to the show, 'cause we're gonna pack the house. It's gonna be fun. It's Papa Roach.

Papa Roach is awesome live.

Oh, yeah, they're great live. And, uh, I haven't seen Set It Off-

Oh, they're great, too

... but I know you, I know you said they're a lot of fun. So.

Their, their drummer is a professional wrestler, so I'll make sure to tell them, tell him, "Hey, uh, this guy right here has been talking a lot of trash. Uh, he wants to fight you for the, uh, whatever championship."

And wrestling's fake. [laughs]

Yeah.

Should I say that to him?

Oh, yeah, might as well.

Okay. I'll make sure to say that.

The dude's built. Uh, he might take you down. [laughs]

All right. Well, put me out of commission for a while. I might get some time off.

Yeah, sure. There you go.

Time to sleep.

Well, w- w- would that, how would that work?

I would assume you get workman's comp, right? If we're, you know, on the job.

But if you're talking trash explicitly to a wrestler to instigate the whole thing.

Hmm, yeah. Company management probably don't like that. Well, Peaches. Ah, find out by going to the show. See if I get beat up by a wrestler.

See if Victor gets suplexed-

There you go [laughs]

... at the Port.

July 23rd. The o- o- one night only. [upbeat music] The noon hour of madness and mayhem. What's up, Peaches?

I like the way you sing that.

Oh, yeah.

The noon hour of madness and mayhem.

That's right. Trying to figure out a jingle for the show.

We should get a jingle going.

Eh.

Have it play every single day at the top of the noon hour. [laughs]

One of these days.

Just a super long, annoying jingle. I know our listeners love annoying advertisements, annoying jingles-

Hell yeah

... annoying sounders.

Mm-hmm.

What's in the box?

[laughs] So what did you have, Peaches?

I've been trying to spruce up my apartment. My whole life as of late has been dieting and becoming more of an adult.

Uh, selling all your possessions.

Well, I did sell a lot of my possessions. All right?

Do you know what you could do to spruce up your apartment? Get a vacuum, dude. [laughs] Like we talked about earlier.

Well, uh, here's a financial tip-

[laughs]

... instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a vacuum, just borrow your friend's.

[laughs] That is a good tip. [laughs]

You know Brian Zeal, he was, uh, threatening to come over with a, uh, broom. He'd be like, "Sweep your floors, Peaches."

[laughs]

I'm like, "I'm not gonna."

[laughs] Brooms? You don't have a broom either?

No, I have a broom.

Okay.

I have a broom.

Like, at bare minimum, you need a broom.

No, I have a broom.

[laughs] I'm surprised you haven't sold it on Market.

[laughs] That's because I bought it on WinCo, at WinCo for five bucks.

Sell it on Market for four.

[laughs] Hey, signed by Anthony Bourdain. [laughs]

[laughs]

But Anthony's spelled a weird way. [laughs]

[laughs]

Um, uh, where, where was I going? Oh, so yeah, I, I went to ChatGPT and took a picture of my bedroom and was like, "Hey, how can I make this more adult?"

Okay.

And then it gave me some other, [laughs] other suggestions 'cause I used the word adult. [laughs]

Oh, no.

[laughs]

Like a swing?

I was, "All right."

[laughs]

Yeah. But, uh-

Like, "You could put a swing in here, a pole."

Sure. [laughs]

[laughs]

Peaches pole party.

Mirrors everywhere.

[laughs]

Jeez. [laughs]

I, I mean, I'm trying to-

Every body

... I, I've been trying to, like, uh, ma- make, like, I, I love the modern aesthetic of, like, these, these framed photos that are all in black and white.

Mm-hmm. Oh, I hate that.

And you gotta have the, the, the matted frames. So I was go- I was looking at Walgreens to print some pictures.

Uh-huh.

And I was thinking, like, what if I threw in something that was just out of the ordinary? Uh, uh, just threw in some, like, random wacky photo.

Okay.

So that way, like... And you know, yesterday we were talking about, [laughs] we were talking about, um, yogurt because I-

Uh-huh

... I was in the break room and I was licking the yogurt off the lid, and I made eye contact with a coworker while doing that, which is worse than eating a banana and making eye contact, for sure.

So we've been told.

Especially when you have the yogurt all over your face.

[laughs]

And so I went to ChatGPT. [laughs] I have this, uh, selfie here, right?

Uh-huh.

Of me on top of the, the hill. And so I said, "Put yogurt all over my face." [laughs]

Oh, P- yeah, that doesn't look good.

What if I get this one printed and hang it in the wall? [laughs]

You should. [laughs] You should hang it in the break room, too.

Oh, sure.

[laughs]

Freak everybody out. Might as well.

Yeah, I was, uh, feeding Jade's dogs over the weekend. Uh, he had me stop by and feed them one day. And-

Did you send him a picture [laughs] of the dog ChatGPT edited to where it's dead on the floor?

No.

"Hey, I killed your puppy." [laughs]

No. What we were gonna-

What?

We did take a bunch of pictures, and what we were gonna do is make it look like Becca stole his dog.

Oh.

'Cause she's always telling him she's gonna steal it. So I took a bunch of pictures from different angles and then, you know, when I got home, was gonna take some pictures of rooms and combine them in ChatGPT.

[laughs]

But I forgot. [laughs]

I could have, uh, came over with my Wegovy syringe and be like, "Hey, we're about to put your dog down-

[laughs] Oh, geez

... if you don't give us a raise."

[laughs]

[laughs] [upbeat music] Peaches and I were just getting ready to wrap this show up here.

[laughs]

[laughs] I get this email,

"New release from Chris Cornell." And I'm like, "Hmm." [laughs]

What if it's a bunch of ghost sounds?

And then I started... So yeah.

Ooh.

[laughs] Like, what kind of songs are his?

If I was a musician and I died, I would have a sense of humor like that. If, I, I would-

Yeah

... I would tell my family, I would tell the recording team or the producer, say, "Hey, you know what? Let's do a posthumous release [laughs] and just have, 'Ooh.'"

[laughs]

"I'll see you soon" kind of thing.

[laughs] Well, you saw the video the other night where I called the Zak Bagans' Haunted Museum and left them a very long message about a haunted, uh, song.

[laughs] Yeah.

I need to forward them that email. Actually, guys, this has gotta be a haunted song because Chris Cornell ain't been around for a while. If he's putting out music, this is ghost music.

Have you seen the conspiracy theory that the whole Oliver Tree death ha- it was c- a complete fake?

I have not seen that, no.

It sup- supposedly, I believe if you go to his website, it says the Oliver Tree experiment has ended, and it's, like, this whole, like, thing.

Mm-hmm.

I... Uh, allegedly.

That... Well, let's go to his website. Oliver Tree. Let's see if that's, uh,

that's factual.

Okay. Oliver Tree, we've got a, uh, UFO.

Scroll down. Got some weird kind of house on fire. New album out.

Um-

Bunch of shows listed. They haven't updated the website, that's for sure. I don't see anything about the Oliver Tree experiment ending

I'm gonna Google search.

Was it, like, Instagram or something?

Found this on the main website. This, this was posted on Reddit. Was a broken link a couple of days ago.

Huh.

"Thank you for participating in the Oliver Tree experiment. We have collected all the data we need to continue the mission and potentially create a new and improved Oliver in the near future."

Huh, that's kind of weird.

That was posted by ExtremePotato222.

Oh, that sounds legit. [laughs]

Pinning this for anybody confused. Okay, so here's somebody explaining it. "MetaTech was an old failed ARG Oliver started back around the time Bury Me Alive came out in May of 2020."

Ah.

"The..." Oh, so it's a whole...

Okay.

Okay. Yeah, Nine Inch Nails did an ARG at one point. It was really cool. It was really cool. You don't, uh, you don't see artists really doing that kind of thing anymore. Hmm.

What's, what's an ARG?

It's an alternate reality game. So,

like with Nine Inch Nails, they'd have all these clues on their websites and things, and you could dig deeper and deeper and kind of get into the story of The Year Zero album, and it, and it had all this weird conspiratorial stuff. Uh, it w- it was just cool. You know, people were finding clues out and about, like jump drives and stuff in the real world, and then they'd get more information. I think you'd find unreleased songs. It's be- been a long time. This was, like, 20 years ago.

I feel old that you're explaining this to me.

Well, Peaches, let me tell you about the internet back in the day. [laughs]

Yesterday I, I had to explain to p- to some, some of these, like, older dudes that are in their 40s, um, trying to figure out what Whatnot is, because apparently one of them bought, like, a golf club that's real nice for real cheap on there.

I don't know what Whatnot is.

And I was telling, telling them, like, "Hey, like, Whatnot, like, Ronnie Radke was on there selling a whole bunch of signed merch." He sold VIP for life at all of his concerts. Someone bought it for a few thousand dollars.

Wow.

Yeah.

Huh.

But he then he got banned off of that, uh, that [laughs] that platform-

[laughs]

... because he was using words that were, uh, used a lot back in, like, 2005.

[laughs] I'm not surprised.

And, uh, yeah, no, he got ... But also I think that it's a conspiracy that he was making all this money off of there, because he was the definitely the most watched streamer.

Yeah.

He was getting thousands of people all the time. And he was, he was doing this streamathon for, like, a month straight. It made, like, $5 million in merch sales.

That's just nuts.

'Cause he was just signing shirts, and he was also giving away, like, exclusive, weird things here and there, and ...

What if I just start signing random crap about, around my house and trying to sell it on the live stream?

Oh, sure.

[laughs] Do you think people would buy it?

Sign Anthony Bourdain drum head.

[laughs]

Just keep signing those different celebrities. Anthony Kiedis is next.

[laughs]

Then we got Anthony Jeselnik.

All right.

All the Anthonys.

All the Anthonys. All right. Well, thanks for the idea, Peaches. I need the dough, so.

S- s- sign one as me, sure.

Yeah, sure. My name is Peaches.

I'll give you permission, yeah.

All right.

Or just c- come down the street where I live and then, you know, knock on my door and say, "Hey, Peaches, sign this." Okay.

I'd ask for some of, uh, your stuff, but you don't, you don't have any.

I, I do have a vacuum. Um, I do have a tiny little bookshelf I can give you.

Oh, yeah?

Yeah. Little-

I might need it

... little, little black one.

Hey, I might need it. Thanks, Peaches.

But I barely have any books.

[laughs] You barely have anything. [upbeat music] The Noon Hour of Madness and Mayhem is a production of Riverbend Media Group. For more information or to contact the show, visit riverbendmediagroup.com.
